colin patterson, bbc news. time for a look at the weather. here's darren bett. . not much to sing about today to be honest with you, we have a lot of cloud around today. and in scotland in particular it feels quite chilly under the cloud, in the next few days, there will be some sunshine at times but we are all going to get more rain. this is the rainfall accumulation through the rest of the week and the heavier rain in the western hills and central and southern parts of scotland. and for many parts of the uk, we will have a south—westerly wind and that is where the cloud is coming from. racing across the atlantic and spinning up from the south—west, we have got more rain arriving here at the moment. that rain will push into wales and southern england through the rest of the day. the odd shower ahead of that and we still have patchy lighter rain in scotland, where it feels particularly chilly in the north east, six or seven

degree, again, ahead of the rain in the south—west we could see temperatures of 1a or 15, but that rain will move north war, this evening and overnight, across england and wales, up into scotland, and northern ireland later on in the night. night. and there will be a lot of cloud round, less cold than last night. we have the rain to begin with though, in northern england, that will move northwards, stay wet for much of scotland and also for northern ireland, and there could be heavier showers in northern england, the odd shower further south but hopefully a bit more sunshine than today. temperatures not changing too much, really, for england and wales but further north in scotland and northern ireland, it may be just that bit colder, tomorrow, in a north—easterly wind. but we have got the winds from the south—west bringing in more rain you can see it is one area of low pressure, after another, after another and we will see more rain pushing across england and wales on wednesday night. during thursday that should then tend to move away, and things may turn

drier, maybe brighter, some sunshine coming through, but there is more rain arriving from the south—west during the afternoon. ahead of that could make 16 degrees but six or so in northern and eastern part of scotland in that north—easterly wind. it will be cold in scotland for the next few day, we have the milder south—westerly winds fort south. that is where all the wet weather is coming from, the next area of low pressure on friday, maybe driving further north this time, taking wetter weather into scotland and northern ireland. briefly some snow over the scottish mountain, further south there will be showers, it may not be as wet or windy further east but in the west we will find gale force winds, the temperatures lifting a bit for scotland but we could make 16 or 17 in eastern england, it could be warmer than that on saturday but it will and that's bbc news at one. you can keep up with all the latest
