everton are going to appeal against their latest sanction for a second breach of the premier league's profitability and sustainability rules — they've been deducted 2 points after going 16 million pounds over the spending limit over a three year period up to the end of last season. from goodison park, here's our correspondent, katie gornall. well, the premier league had wanted well, the premier league had wanted this to be a five—point deduction, but an independent commission settled on two points, taking into account mitigating factors. still, everton say they will appeal. in the meantime, they've slipped to 16th in the table, two places above the relegation zone with seven games to play. they were found to have breached the rules by more than £16 million for the accounting period up tojune 2023. it follows a six—point deduction they were handed earlier in the season, reduced from ten on appeal for a separate breach in the previous accounting period.

so things that i was doing was like i wasn't attending any of the social elements. i wasn't really seeing my team—mates outside of the rugby field. with the club that i'm at now, they're so helpful and they're so encouraging and i can go to the bar and order our grey tea, a non—alcoholic drink and have it with my friends and my team—mates. even richmond have even gone as far as offering me a prayer space. so like game days or when i'm at the club when i need to pray, you know, i can pray at the club, which is something that it's been a huge thing for me. what message do you want to send out to other young muslim women? be comfortable in being who you are. well, you know, you're a muslim person and, you know, like that's something to be proud of. you know, whatever space you're in, whether it's sports service business, whether its academic, wherever you are, be proud of the fact that you are a muslim person and wear that badge with honour. the head of the commonwealth games hopes to name the 2026 hosts next month.

bringing more rain. now, even as the rain pushes through across wales and southwest england, it probably will stay rather cloudy. the weather that follows. however, it will start to turn a bit milder again with south—westerly winds, temperatures around 13—15 degrees. and that warming trend continues as we head into thursday. again, we've got south—westerly winds with us, but this time after a cloudy start, the clouds should tend to thin and break up and we'll see some spells of sunshine coming through quite widely. yeah, there'll be a few showers for the north and west of scotland, but otherwise it's mostly dry. and those temperatures, 17 for aberdeen, 17 for belfast, but highs could reach around 19 or 20 across parts of eastern england. it stays pretty mild then towards wales and england as we head into the weekend. temperatures could reach the low 20s for some.
