7:00 am
it has all once the flavor, the future of soda is now it's called poppy. >> seven astronauts setting off on a scientific mission houston? object. >> i didn't know anything concerning it happened. there were people that didn't good though
7:01 am
>> community to figure out what the hell happened? >> sunday, april 7 at nine, cnn good, morning you are live in the cnn newsroom. i'm jim acosta in washington at this hour. e jean carroll as just 60 minutes to challenge former president donald trump's most recent legal move last week, trump hosted a nearly $92 bond to appeal a federal judge. juries judgment in which they ordered him to pay more more than $83 million to care for repeatedly making defamatory statements about her. but despite the multimillion dollar fines for defamation just moments ago, trump once again made comments about carroll on cnbc calling her names, claiming he never met her and insisting her accusations are false despite a federal jury ruling that he's liable for sexual abuse marshall cohen is
7:02 am
following this developing story for us. marshall, what happens next? >> well, one hour from now, e jean carroll has a deadline to tell a judge if she has any issues with this bond arrangement. as you mentioned, donald trump on friday posted that 90 the 1 million bond, the judgment against him was 83 million, but he had to include some interests. so if she has any issues, the judge said that he'll hold a hearing later this afternoon if she doesn't have any objections than the digital still need to give his formal stamp of approval so that this bond can be posted in the appeal, can move forward. >> remember, jim we're here because of something that a jury concluded, donald trump did in the mid 1990s, according to a jury in new york, they found that donald trump was liable for sexually abusing ms carroll in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s and that he defamed her when he repeatedly said that she made it all up. but if you are watching the campaign trail over the weekend, you would have seen donald trump in georgia repeating some of those
7:03 am
same claims. listen to this i just posted a 91 bond, 91 million on a fake story, totally made-up. sorry, 91 million based on false accusations made about me by a woman that i knew nothing about, didn't know, never heard of. i know nothing about her. and when i denied it, i said it's so crazy right so we're waiting for this decision on the appeal that could take awhile, but maybe some additional fodder there for ms carroll on her attorneys? >> absolutely not just from the rally, but from cnbc this morning, he keeps talking about her could add to his legal troubles. marshall cohen. thank you very much. joining me now to talk about those defense attorney, former federal prosecutor, shan wu i mean, shan, despite these multimillion dollar fines, the former president just can't stop talking about e. jean carroll, not only at this rally over the weekend, but just this morning on cnbc. i mean, according to this transcript that we have, we could put it
7:04 am
up on screen to our viewers. i mean, this is what donald trump was just saying a few moments ago. on scene cnbc, he said, if i if i didn't win on appeal on these ridiculous decisions, if i didn't win on appeal, is the most ridiculous decisions. and putting this ms bergdorf goodman a person i never ever met. i have no idea who she is. i mean, that's except one point. it says he says said one thing continuing her, i got sued and from that point on, i said, wow, that's crazy. what this is. i got charged, i was given a false accusation, had to post a $91 million bond on a false accusation. >> i >> mean, shan, he he keeps talking about her despite all these fines it's almost like he he really can't help himself. he seems to think if he doesn't actually say her name, maybe that's somehow protects him from the defamation. it done. >> it's >> perfectly clear who he's talking about which case he is talking about. and it just does not make any sense. i mean, to call her ms bergdorf goodman.
7:05 am
that's allegedly where this took place. >> that's exactly where the jury found that took place. yeah. >> and it just this idea that there's no amount of money that will make him stop. that sort of the common sense take on it. and i mean, there is grounds for pursuing him again on this basis, but i don't think it's a question of money. i mean, there's something off with the way he thinks about this. once he starts something something that i mentioned this, he just keeps repeating it. you just can't stop. >> and might this affect his desire to appeal this? i mean, if he if he tries to appeal this, and a judge says, hang on a second. i don't wanna do this all over again. you keep talking about this. you're obviously doing it. i mean, might that impact his chances for appeal? >> i don't think it impacts the substance of the appeal because it's confined to the record. they had i think has almost no basis to win an appeal. but from an optic standpoint, that can't help but hurt him on the appeal that he keeps repeating this conduct over and over again, and he's been he's been found liable
7:06 am
for sexual abuse. i mean, that that has happened. >> absolutely. yeah. i mean, the idea he keeps trying to relitigate this litigated by saying it didn't happen. he just lost on them. i mean, it has happened. then the jury found that happens not that the judge made it up. the jury found out >> and another development this week, there's a hearing to throw out the classified docs documents case on thursday. what are the chances there? >> i think the chances are very low substantively, but the problem is that judge cannon has shown herself open to fully hearing all the issues, and that tends to delay things and whether or not she has that intention her track record is she's allowing this delay to happen. so would this whole multitude of issues, it's going to take a while again for her to go through those and there could be appeals. in the meantime. >> all right. shan wu. thank you very much, really appreciate in moments from now, embattled new jersey senator robert menendez will head back to federal court facing charges of trying to obstruct trucked an investigation in bribery
7:07 am
allegations in new jersey democrat and his wife will be arraigned on those charges. the senator remains defiant, calling a quote flagrant abuse of power. cnn's jason carroll is outside the courthouse for us. jason. what are we going to see this morning? are we expecting any please at this hearing? >> well, jim, if history serves as as any guide, as you know, this senator and his wife have already pleaded not guilty to previous bribery charges in the superseding indictment, they now face 18 additional counts, including conspiracy, acting as a foreign agent bribery, extortion and wire fraud. again, they already had been facing bribery charges. these new allegations prosecutors say they tried to cover up their crimes, if you will, after they learned that they were under investigation, basically trying to say that these bribes that they had received this money, that they had received, for example for a mortgage for a new home to buy a brand new state, numerous '80s wasn't a
7:08 am
bribe. they say it was alone. prosecutors say not true. in addition to that, in this superseding indictment, prosecutors also allege that nadine menendez and the senator gave false information to their attorneys and their attorneys in turn, gave that misleading information to us attorneys when they held meetings with them last year. now, that senator and his wife, again, have pleaded not guilty in the past two bribery charges. and as you say, the senator has remained defiant throughout all of this. he really please do statement about these new allegations which says in part, it says that the prosecutors are afraid of the facts, scared to subject their charges to the fair-minded scrutiny of a jury. it says once and for all that they will stop at nothing in their zeal to get me. and that's what this senator has been saying about these allegations. all along that this is just the government's efforts to try to get at him, as you say, he has remained
7:09 am
defiant throughout all of this, the arraignment scheduled to get underway at 11:00 a.m. jim. >> all right. jason carroll, live for us. thank you very much. and still to come more fallout for katie britt this morning, the woman at the cell i don't know the alabama senators misleading sex trafficking story. she had responded to cnn. will have some of that just a few moments stay with us. you're live at the scene backroom deal cia secrets, affairs, bribery, corruption, prostitution >> there's so much more to the store. >> united states of scandal with jake tapper sunday at nine on cnn i have type two diabetes, but i'm managing its little pill with the big story to tell i take once-daily jati easy

7:14 am
happened in the us as a result of biden's border policies, brit, however, failed to note the woman's story she was citing actually happened in mexico during george w bush's presidency >> to be clear, the story that you relate is not something that's happened under the biden administration. that particular person >> but i very, very clearly set i spoke to a woman who told me about when she was trafficked, when she was 12. so i didn't say a teenager. i didn't say a young woman, a grown woman, a woman when she was trafficked, when she was 12 let's, discuss more now and cnn political commentator and host of pbs firing line, margaret hoover and the director of the university of virginia's center for politics, larry sabato margaret, let me go to you first. how do you think katie britt is handling all this? >> i think the major mistake was that she wasn't clear when she's set it up front because jim, we all understand that the cartels are the major terrible,
7:15 am
miserable force behind the crisis at the border. and i was delighted that a republican woman of all people said sex trafficking and told this horrific story. but the fact that she wasn't clear about the details from the beginning and led led to this which led to this implication and confusion that this was that the experience of that individual was joe biden's fault? >> has completely undermined. a really important conversation and reality that we all ought to be grappling with as we think about the role of the cartels are playing and sexual violence is being perpetrated on innocent victims all over on both sides of the border. as we mess it, as we try to grapple with this problem. >> yeah. and then the woman at the center of >> it talk to cnn and said it just wasn't right for katie britt to use that story. and larry, i mean, on top of everything else i mean, she's had to deal with katie britt has had to deal with saturday night live. it came up at the oscars last night. everybody was sort of poking, funded her sort of a breath i see over
7:16 am
crank performance. let's listen to scarlet johanson. she was doing it over the weekend. let's let's watch >> worried about the future of our children and this is why i've invited you into this strange md kitchen because republicans want it took me to appeal to women voters. and women love kitchen >> larry is never good when you get the republican response, and it immediately becomes a saturday night live segment. and it was it was anticipated. i mean, had snl not done it this weekend, it would have been sort of an epic fail on their part. it was just sort of like served up on a, on a silver platter in a kitchen, i guess you could say >> yes. katie britt deserved an oscar for most misleading performance ever. i've watched almost all the responses to the state of the union address since they started in 1966. this is absolutely the worst, not just in terms of that awful
7:17 am
anecdote, but also her presentation. i don't know who trained turn to speak that way or to vary her emotions and in such extremes, most people cite poor old senator marco rubio is having the worst state of the union response a few years back because he reached for a water bottle off off camera because he was parched. that's nothing compared to what she did. >> these people, >> katie, britt, and all her colleagues have dozens of aids and staffers, plus the party researchers and you meet i put her out there knowing that this is not right >> yeah. no and larry, i mean, kudos to there was a guy on tiktok. i think john cats, jonathan katz, who discovered this and sort of blew the whistle on it. and then the media pounds so good for him. i mean, it just goes to show you there folks out there paying
7:18 am
attention to this stuff. and margaret, it also highlights how immigration is just going to be this hot-button issue all the way until the election. and donald trump, just over the weekend was hurling more super heated rhetoric on the subject. let's listen to this talk about on the other side i will seal the border >> i'm going to do it. and i was stopped this invasion. i will end the agony of our people the plunder of our cities, the sacking of our towns, the violation of our citizens, and the conquest of our country. they're conquering our country these people are conquering our country they're horrible people >> margaret, nobody is disputing that there's a problem at the border. obviously, they need to crack down on what's taking place at the border. >> but i mean, who believes >> this that there are people conquering our cities. and so, i mean it just seems so
7:19 am
far-fetched that i guess about a loss as to who who's buying this stuff. >> well well, actually, jim, i'm really glad you raised this because this is really important. the language that donald trump was using, there was very explicitly the language of war the plundering of our cities, right? the combatting at the border. all of those verbs are verbs that imply that there is a war at stake. and why is he using the language of bellicosity and of war because he is laying the groundwork for being able to use our military. if he is elected president on the border, he is trying to justify have you use our militaries troops in what will essentially be using war powers of the presidency in order to tackle the crisis at the border. and so it's not a mistake that he's using that word. those words. >> i just want to say about katie britt yes. >> larry, i'm with you. >> it was a bad performance, but when it comes to these kinds of issues of future potential president returning to the presidency and using war
7:20 am
powers on the border. >> katie >> britt is one of the, one of the rare republicans. there are too few of these days who behind closed doors is deliberately reasoned and sensible and so it just speaks to the tragedy of the republican party and its ownership by donald trump. >> that >> they're painted into a box and can even be intellectually honest about the debate about immigration when they are on television defending their side of the argument yeah, lear, i mean, as part of the issue here is that when trump takes it to the level that he does, and i mean, when he when he escalates this >> anti-migrant rhetoric and the way that he is doing it. it's almost as if other people in the party, especially people like katie britt, who may feel like they have to audition for the job of vice president, have to take it to that level too. >> and >> a lot of these stories are just full of holes. you know, i mean katie britt story is a prime example of that trump going out there over the weekend and saying that they're
7:21 am
conquering our cities and so on. just who buys this stuff it's just, it's beyond the pale well, the trump base by buys it and increasingly the republican party is just the trump party. his basis, the gop base. >> but i don't think that >> exonerates katie britt or any of the others who endorsed donald trump and repeat his lines, knowing full well, how misleading, how often horrific he is. >> it >> doesn't exonerate them. whether it's chris sununu rushing to endorse or glenn youngkin in my state rushing to endorse trump when both of them know very well how bad donald trump really is and would be in a second term as president. so katie britt, maybe she says let's things behind the scenes and margaret would know better than me. maybe she says things that are reasonable, but i didn't see a reasonable person america on unreasonable person saying inaccurate, misleading, things in a weird way to be blunt about it.
7:22 am
>> all right it was weird. there's a question about it. it still feels weird to this to this day. all right. margaret larry, guys. thank you very much, really appreciate it in the meantime, hungarian autocrat viktor orban is revealing new details about his discussions with donald trump and florida over the weekend, including that trump quote, will not give a penny to ukraine if re-elected this fall and move. he believes would end that war with russia were ban, made the comments on hungarian state television this morning. it comes just after the former president posted a highlight reel of orban's visit to his truth social account, which included were ban praising trump's leadership and limit mentoring the state of the world without him in the oval office, let's listen. >> trump and a kudo beaker and look aboard distillate at parent shorter, relax beneish has macron, topic of how the italian was no luck szijjarto, be cup world because and we're
7:23 am
joined by anne >> applebaum, a staff writer for the atlantic, author of several books, including twilight of democracy. and, you know, this, this there's so much going on and i guess because of the solar eclipse that occurred as have katie britt's performance after the state of the union. i mean, the or ban trump visits sort of got overshadowed a little bit. and i'm just curious if we get your reaction to viktor orban, this headline coming out of their meeting this morning, we're ban saying that the two talked about russia's war ukraine, and that trump is not going to fund it. i mean, that should be very chilling. >> two leaders >> across europe this morning >> you don't let me start by connecting your previous segment to discipline. because or ban is really a european leader who invented the idea of the fake campaign against migrants. the idea that the migrants are invading their, there's a secret plot that
7:24 am
migrants will replace ethnic hungarians. >> that's right. and he was the one recorded that. and some of what you're hearing, the gop do and trump himself, do is actually an imitation of that this. kind of, in the case of hungary, there is a completely fake story. there is no, there was no border crisis and hungry, no real one. we do have one, but it's of course, very nuanced and complicated. but using this military language targeted to an invasion, this is what orban did to hide his real agenda. so he talked about migrants he. talked about hungary's enemies. and then behind the scenes, what he's actually done as prime minister is do deals with russia, do deals with china corrupt, hungry, reduce the hungarian business elite to just a few people who are his friends and i think that is actually the adl that he is presenting this so appealing to the gop and it's also it's also the
7:25 am
explanation for the connection between hungary, trump, and russia. >> the agenda is >> private deals with russia. and we but we don't talk about it in public. and i think trump is either to trump actually talks very rarely about ukraine in public. very, very rarely about russia. but we know from his actions that he has been responsible for blocking for persuading the house to block aid to right? >> in >> order for ukraine to lose so that russia wins and there's also the arguably maybe you'll disagree with me. the larger issue of all the world leaders that donald trump is bringing to mar-a-lago during this general election campaign, which is basically started, he brings viktor orban this autocrat in europe, that i suppose my form some kind of alliance with donald trump maybe it's kind of a post nato world that they envision more
7:26 am
autocratic world that they envisioned i mean, this, this should alarm a lot of americans and the fact that they're talking foreign policy, talking about very soon inefficiently altering foreign policy of the united states when it comes to ukraine. i mean, that that should raise alarm bells >> yeah. look, a german member of parliament said to be a few weeks ago in munich >> we in >> europe realize now that in a matter of months or years, we could be dealing with facing three autocracies. russia, china, and the united states. and so, yes, there's a very real fear that trump will align with russia against europe. that russia will cease to not, not, not just cease to send military aid ukraine, but will also encourage further the russian incursion into europe. so absolutely, it's, it's an enormous fear and of course that would change the balance of power in the world than it would have an enormous effect on perceptions of the us in the
7:27 am
world, on trade with the us, on whether europeans buy american products, all kinds of things that most people hold on factor in america being the security guarantor for europe, bustos, a lot of advantages on the united states, including economic advantages one, once we lose that, it's going to be very hard to win back >> that's right. i mean, our european allies, they are going to be tempted to form other alliances if they see donald trump on the verge of coming back for the white house. i mean, that's that you hear that from diplomatic officials here, washington all the time. and another parallel between viktor orban and donald trump. we should talk about this warning on cnbc. trump called facebook and the news media here in the united states, the enemy of the people. i were just talking about in reference to a tiktok question, but let's watch this i consider facebook to be an enemy of the people along with a lot of the media. i think facebook has been very i think facebook has been very bad for our country,
7:28 am
especially when it comes to election now he seems to be coming to tiktok's rescue a little bit with all of this talk of washington are cracking down on tiktok that we should note. i mean, one place where you see a lot of back propaganda is on tiktok these days. so perhaps that has something to do with it, but we should also note a number of press or organization press freedom organizations have blasted viktor orban's cracked down on the media. of course, we saw at turning the trump administration here, the us it sounds like another parallel >> so what's important about orban's crack down on the media and why it's why it's an example for for the minority of the republican party who, who, who, who want a more authoritarian system is that it wasn't i'm done with censorship. so orban didn't censor people instead he used tactics. he used business pressure on advertisers who advertise in independent media. he would say, you really want to place that advertisement because you might lose your government contract if you do.
7:29 am
>> he used he cuts he cut funding for all kinds of advertising that the government used to do. in other words, he put business pressure on media in order to put it out of business and eventually over a period of time, he succeeded. and that's something that's never been tried in the united states, certainly not with the federal government seeking to put media out of business on purpose. but it's something we could see. i mean, it's something that others have tried to imitate or bonded it. the previous polish government that lost the election in october tried to do it. others, others have seen this as a kind of example absolutely there's no question about i mean you look at press freedom organizations. they have basically called viktor orban a press freedom predator in his country. so that's obviously something that should worry a lot of people are at and applebaum. thanks. as always, we appreciate it all right. in the meantime, coming up, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu firing back at president biden as the two liters continue to clash over

typical soda back that's right. his time in loves soda again rafael romo, the georgia state capitol in atlanta. this is cnn >> israel says it will push forward with its offensive in rafah. but multiple officials say that offensive in gaza is not imminent and plans have not been finalized. president biden warned that an invasion of rafah, where 1.5 million displaced palestinians are sheltering would be a quote, red line, a warning that was promptly rejected by israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu. let's go to cnn white house reporter priscilla alvarez for more on this. priscilla, the president netanyahu, they seemed to be going back and forth overall
7:35 am
this, what else is the white house saying? >> well, there's no doubt jan. that this is a tumultuous time for the relationship between president biden and the israeli prime minister. a relationship that goes back decades especially amid concerns of an israeli invasion of rafah that's an area in gaza, were more than 1 million displaced palestinians have a mass and brother and i biden saying over the weekend that an invasion of rafah would be a quote, red line, but also maintaining his defense of israel. take a listen it is red light, but i'm never going to leave israel the defensive israel is still critical, so there's no red line. i want to cut off all weapons so they had don't have the iron dome to protect them. they don't have. but there's red lines that if he crosses in the country cannot have 30,000 more palestinians well, i don't know exactly what the president meant. but if he meant by that, that i'm pursuing private policies against the majority. the wish of the majority of israelis and that this is hurting the interests of israel. then he's
7:36 am
wrong on both counts >> now, president biden making clear last night that the plight of palestinian it's in gaza is top of mind saying in a statement to mark the holy month of ramadan, quote as muslims gather around the world over the coming days and weeks to break their fast. the suffering of the palestinian people will be front of mind for many. it is front of mind for me. so this still a developing situation on the ground all right. priscilla alvarez. thank you very much for more on this. i'm joined by cnn political and national security analyst david sanger. david, a great to have you as always. i mean, what do you make of this business of the president saying there's a red line. if israel goes into rafah, i mean, you and i both know we've covered not only the trump administration, the obama for sure, and brock obama did not do himself favors by drawing a red line when it came to syria. >> and george bush, when it came to north korea, right? >> yeah. >> so let's parse what the president said here for a moment. so he said, there's a red line, but there's no red line for enabling them to
7:37 am
defend each other. you mentioned iron dome, a purely defensive and sub-system and so forth >> so we >> have to intuit what the president means. and i assume what it means. and again, we're making a leap here. is it if they go into rafah, they're not going to get the offensive weapons that the us has provided. but he didn't quite say that. and what we know is that the president himself has been feeding weapons to the israelis at the same time that he is feeding in food >> and >> medical gear and so forth to the palestinians so the question is, is the quiet signaling here to the israelis that if they went into rafah, they would lose the offensive weaponry and the white house will not answer that question. >> yeah. no. i mean, obviously the implication is hanging out there that there will be consequences if this happens and david, what what about this back-and-forth that is going on
7:38 am
between president biden and prime minister benjamin netanyahu. i mean, after october 7, the president went to israel. he put his arms around the israeli people were in a very different place right now. >> we sure are. >> and >> that was the high >> point. but even at that, you'll remember this, jim, because i think you and i discussed it right after the president was there. he said, don't make the mistakes. we made right after 911. okay. he's now convinced that they've made every one of those mistakes and added to a few. and the conversations between the president and the prime minister had been very heated. the president is hung up the phone after a few of those, the prime minister and said things that we cannot repeat on cnn. >> right now. >> it has been, let's play a little bit of, if we have it, of what president biden had to say about a possible ceasefire. and have you weigh in? if we have that, let's play that >> so i want to see a ceasefire and i'm starting with a major, major exchange of prisoners for
7:39 am
six-week period. we're going into ramadan. it should be nothing happening. and we should build off that ceasefire. who look i've spoken with the majority there. i believe there's from saudi arabia to egypt to jordan. they're all prepared to fully recognize israel began to rebuild the region. and that's, that's the focus. what comes after gaza? it's it's a tough decision, but there's a lot can be done >> yet. what do you make of what the president had to say that i mean, >> he's obviously very concerned about the rest of the neighborhood. i mean, we know that the jordanians have been very adamant that if something like this happens during ramadan that they there could be consequences. >> so again, let's pause what parse out, what he said. yeah, he used to use the phrase, there will be a pause, right? right. and whenever we wrote ceasefire, somebody in the administration would call back and say, no, that's not quite the phrase because a pause suggest you don't have an exchange of prisoners have a pause in the fighting to get the food and medicine in. and
7:40 am
then the israelis will resume now, having said what he said about the red line and rafah they can't have that resumption. >> so he is beginning >> to pick up the same language that you first heard from vice president harris in her speech? >> about a week ago, right? where they're using ceasefire now and a ceasefire means you do not fire and it doesn't last forever. but it's interesting, he's picking up the language that was, how do you do an invasion of rafah while there? i mean, while there's all those conversation about a ceasefire that the americans are saying, we want a ceasefire. that's right. yeah. >> so >> far, nothing that the president has said has impressed prime minister netanyahu enough. to make him change his plans. and the real issue is, can the us change that plan? and i don't see a way to do it other than to make the aid the arms aid conditional maybe there's another way. no one's explained
7:41 am

at this. several international news agencies pulled the image saying it was manipulated this morning, kate responded to the controversy on social media saying, quote, like many amateur photographer kaag refers, i do occasionally experiment with editing. i want to express my apologies for any confusion that family photograph we shared yesterday cause cnn senior media reporter, oliver darcy joins me now to discuss oliver. we have a lot of problems in this country. this is not one of them, but it is something that a lot of people around the world are talking about. i mean, this is the first official photo we've seen of the princess of wales since her abdominal surgery two months ago. and then there are news organizations now saying, hold on a second. this this photo appears to be doctorate and i was looking at this this morning, oliver, it is really weird if you look at the the daughters asleep, there's a little bit something that's off there and tell us more what's going on here. >> i mean, it's very obviously dr. or manipulated or edited as she has herself now said, this raises a lot of questions for the palaces credibility. when
7:47 am
news agencies get these handout photos, they usually spec that they're not edited like this. they're not manipulated. there, there are good photos and so they distribute them to their partners. they put them on the homepages of websites like cnn, a front pages of newspapers and obviously after some close inspection here, or just maybe glancing at the photo, it came to their attention that these these image, this image was very obvious leslie edited and manipulated. now, the palace isn't saying exactly what happened here, like in terms of what she edited. they're just admitting that she's edited the photos, but this is really damaging to their credibility in that like now, people are going to be much more suspicious when they released these handout photos. and also jim, because she has been absent from public but quiet for some time. and this was her first photo you would expect that this would be some sort of highly coordinated rollout. you would not expect that they would release a edited version of the photo, particularly because of all these conspiracy theories that have already been floating around the internet.
7:48 am
because she hasn't been in public life since the surgery and so to see them now released this photo, it's only going a few of those more and it raises questions about their credibility >> yeah. >> i mean, the royal family, how many official photographers do they have? they have a king's ransom, i guess worth of official photographers and the other thing oliver is, i mean, this just goes to show you. i've gotta go oh, but just goes to show you there are a lot of internet sleuths out there who were just going to find this stuff. every time. >> all right. oliver darcy. great to see well, we'll talk about this board of aaro. i think it's going to come up again. all right. thanks so much. thank you, jim. >> in the meantime, while oppenheimer may have swept hollywood's biggest night, there were still plenty of memorable moments we, had to break. here's ryan gosling's show stealing rendition of i'm just ken

at the cannes film festival. everybody was saying she is going to win the oscar-winner now, she lost a bit of steam throughout the race because emma stone gained a lot of traction with the international vote. emma stone won the bafta award, which is essentially the british oscar. so she ended up taking home the top prize for lead actress. but let's go through some of the other big winners of the night. as you said when heimer, this was truly the night of oppenheimer. they won seven awards, including best picture, best actor, best director, and best supporting actor. robert downey, junior getting his first oscar ever, which is pretty crazy to think about that in his entire career, never won an oscar. same thing for christopher nolan. now he is fine finally, an oscar winner after many, many nominations and also kylian murphy getting his first oscar as well. and as we spoke about their emma stone getting the award for best actress. now, jimmy kimmel, return to host
