april 17. 8:00 a.m. on the east coast. we hope you have a good wednesday morning. president biden is headed to pittsburgh today expected to call for a tripling of tariffs on chinese steel and aluminum an effort to boost companies and union support ahead of the election the president stopping in scranton, pennsylvania to attack the economy, the wall street journal writes while biden is focused on winning over the democrats he's followed behind with independence. a recent poll from the journal finds biden trailing behind former president trump and the top battleground states. your reaction. >> i think there's a reason why we see joe biden going to pennsylvania again it's a state important before interstate losing in the polls. it's really significant when you look at the swing state polls all of them arizona, georgia, michigan nevada pennsylvania. all of those states are favoring donald trump. we never saw the opera in the polls before, donald trump was never winning in the polls. were making the assumption that

donald trump would do better than the polls suggested because he outperforms the polls. in this case donald trump is winning joe biden is on his heels and losing independence in young people and losing with the people they carried him in 2020 and he has big problems on his hands. maria: it is failed policy there is two big categories of people the people that look back and say 55% say i was better off economically under donald trump and 33% say mlk under joe biden and a lot of people look at economic opportunity but when you look across the board they say donald trump understands were enemies truly are, joe biden does not he gets things done he defends my values and cares about people like me winning the war on empathy which is something that joe biden had before and a lot of people don't understand a lot of people that hate donald trump think he has none, people feel like he cares about people like them in joe biden is losing in that front people say i think is qualified in many ways in the best case scenario for joe biden that he is boring and the lease case

the fact that he's in pittsburgh talking and trying to help and get the union vote is a very big concern he should have the union vote he is union joe from what i understand and the other thing i'm from pittsburgh pennsylvania and the fact that he's going to be talking about the economy there as well, they are going to be blindsided by the fact that he so tone deaf. number one they worry about how much the groceries are in insurance and rate and rent et cetera et cetera et cetera. he goes to pittsburgh today and say h how great the economy is people are going to look at him like he has ten heads. maria: the first thing to do when you're trying to fix the problem is to acknowledge the problem. he does not acknowledge the problem he spends more and more stimulus at the academy. the imf is claiming the administration for the rampant spending saying something will have to give as a u.s. dead

losing in the swing states and how ironic were talking about being in pittsburgh today. how ironic that senator fetterman a democrat from pennsylvania is talking a protested against israel is no longer acceptable laying your body down industry is not acceptable we saw that and forward aware they were arrested. he abiding going to a place where he still trying to appeal to the far left side of his party in the middle part of the party, those of the people that he really needs in the swing states are saying he's wrong. maria: young joe biden going to all the swing states talking about how bad trump is but whatever trump says he gets in contempt of congress or contempt of court because he supposed to be under a gag order in this is a lecture 2024. were just getting started, jay powell dials back with expectations the rate cut expectation after lack of progress on inflation this year

maria: welcome back take a look at features an hour and 15 minutes away from the opening bell off of the best levels of the morning but nonetheless showed a nice rally -- i'm 56, s&p higher by ten and a half. interest rates look like this, the ten year treasury at 4.65%, down one basis point. after jay powell signaled rates will be higher for longer completion process. watch. >> we have said that the fomc we will need greater confidence that inflation is moving sustainably toward 2% before the appropriate to ease policy.

the recent data has clearly not given us greater confidence and instead indicates likely to take longer than expected to achieve the confidence. that said we think policy is well-positioned to handle the risks that we face a fire inflation does persist we can maintain the current level of restriction for as long as needed. maria: joining me now market rebellion cofounder pete najarian, great to see you thank you so much for being here, your reaction to powell and what you're expecting for rates this year. >> is very interesting. the beginning of the year you go back to january and people talk about five cuts, six cats and some as high as seven cuts. the reality that inflation is much stickier than everybody was projecting including the fed it is an interesting process that they have to go through right now because now are starting to see that the pauses are not just for may but most likely june and into july a 50/50 chance of a potential cut. how many cats did we get this year, maybe 1 - 2 but this is a

guessing game because inflation has been sticky and you go across the different commodities in anywhere you like you're going to see incredible moves to the upside whether it's copper, crude cruise gone from 70 - 88 now it's back down to 85 but we see a lot of the stickiness all over the place. quite honestly when you look at the prices at the pump now from the beginning of the year you're paying a lot more for gas and a lot more for food, the inflation has been sticky and it will continue for much longer. maria: how do you invest around the stickier elevated level of inflation? >> it makes a little more difficult. there are certain parts of the market that do stand out for me. i look at the financials. obviously there are times where they definitely lag but most recently when you go back to october take a look at names like city, morgan stanley a little bit more of a logger but there's a lot in the financial world that still has plenty of room to the upside because the

hit that they have taken and what's going on from the investment banking side they're doing an incredible job. those that are very deep into the investment banking side they are absolutely showing it right now especially as we look at turning so far in the financials as goldman sachs, citibank, j.p. morgan it is those kind of names and is not just the financials, there are other places as well and certainly names in the technology space as well. maria: do you want to invest based on asset management, capital market exposure or do you want to look at the macro story in the lending environment. if you wanted dvds up you have weak spots because of lending and strong spots because of capital market. >> i would say that's a function of act and access to capital versus not having access to capital. one thing the idea was sticky inflation is to sell to smaller

guys and gals that need money because they don't access to capital and focus on the larger cap stocks, how are you dealing with it. >> that's exactly right when you look at the smaller ones look at the financials themselves when you look at the regionals they are exposed and that is not great. on the other hand would you look at the big boys the j.p. morgan of the world, morgan stanley, goldman sachs all those types of names, wells fargo i think they're much better position that the regionals. i'm bringing it towards the financials themselves but you can apply this to differ other areas as well and i think that you have to have the capital in this environment and if you got it i think that gives you a leg up for sure. maria: commodities do you want any exposure given the level of oil and expectation that it will stay high. >> i've been wrong on this to some degree and i continue to think were to get the triple digits. i still think so and i couldn't believe it over the weekend.

recent numbers, 24000 chinese nationals have been apprehended at the border the going largely to california, why, joe biden is not holding china accountable we have a new report that tells us in ccp is working with the mexican cartel to transmit and distribute fentanyl to american citizens to kill american citizens. 100,000 of those have actually worked and died right now. do you believe this is part of biden doing this because he's getting paid. we don't understand why joe biden would leave the border open the way he is. >> it certainly appears joe biden is compromised, this being compromised is probably a result of the $9 million his family took from china which according to the irs whistleblowers they never paid taxes on and if it could be worse than taking money from the chinese government and not paying a penny of federal taxes probably would be the icing on the cake but it ended

the day this administration has a china first american vast policy and were holding a committee hearing and oversight to try to rattle the cages of the government leaders in the biden administration the cabinet secretaries and the division directors to make sure that they understand the threat that china poses in the fact that the biden administration doesn't have a china policy to thwart the problems that china is inflicting on everyday americans on a daily basis. when you look at the fentanyl across the border in the manipulation of the currency and the propaganda campaign through tiktok and other outlets were there trying to indoctrinate people like anti-semitism and in the left wing green new deal type policy. we believe that funded a lot of the agl's that are leading the campaign to try to destroy our energy independence in america. the list goes on and on and joe biden is asleep at the wheel.

was give bidens an opportunity to set the record straight. i don't think there is ever in the history of congressman criminal referrals to the immediate president of the united states and their family. we wanted to give the bidens every opportunity this is a very balanced investigation and we have cited all of the concerns we've had with hard evidence in the form of bank statements, e-mails, bank statements, foreign testimony we conducted this buy the book and dotted every i and cross every t so we wanted to give the president an opportunity to testify even if he didn't want to testify we tried to make it easier and sent him a list of questions to answer like did he meet with this person knew set his family millions of dollars. did he know what his family was doing to receive millions of dollars from adversaries around the world. we gave him opportunity after opportunity to come forward to

congress and set the record straight and clear the biden name. but they continue to refuse and how bad the media. we have a few more documents that we subpoena that we expect later this week and i think you see the thing start to wrap up very soon after that. maria: wrap up manger sending criminal referrals? >> criminal referrals in impeachment is still on the table. i think it's very clear that joe biden has committed impeachable offenses. i don't think americans are okay with the president of the united states whether he was vice president or president selling access to china, russia, ukraine and adversaries around the world and i think american people want to see accountability and i certainly do we've proven they were influence peddling it's time to hold him accountable. maria: if you have a different speaker and place and if it's hakeem jeffries at as a speaker of the house, all of this goes

away we know that he's not going to allow any of this to go forward. how much does a drama within the house marjorie taylor greene, thomas massie tried to take out mike johnson. how much of the drama. is it undermining your investigation? >> i dealt with drama from day one from the first three weeks of the opening 118th congress when we had people that would not support mccarthy to be speaker then the three and half weeks when they removed mccarthy and now are going to discover the drama has been a challenge i'm not going to lie and it's very disappointing we are people in our conference. a lot of people in our conference that it made a difficult situation more difficult. at the end of the day we finally provided the american people with the truth and now we are going to issue referrals to the

the revenue not on the people of iran but to support its proxies to get more money so they can do that and of course be emboldened by this appeasement approach we should not be surprised that we arrived at where we are today from the houthi to hamas with the same problem rigidly. it's not an exception is actually the behavior of the regime from the very beginning had only one ambition to export the ideology which is why i've been saying an expectation of behavior change has been the biggest flaw in western countries and foreign policy of this regime and how to deal with it. the time has come to understand that to put an ultimate end to the problem has to do with the disappearance of this regime. this is the ask of the iranian people who are fed up with the system and i believe by bringing additional pressure it will facilitate the process of change

but that has to be parallel to maximum pressure which means more sanctions and also has to be a parallel policy of maximum support. maria: you really need the u.s. to work with the people of iran. let's talk about the path forward. you want to tap into the people. what do you believe will be the catalyst that is needed if not this. we've talked before women stood up and rose up after the murder of a wonderful young woman and look where we are they are still facing this incredible pushback and domination from the regime. is there a catalyst that you see that is needed to encourage the people of iran to stand up to begin a countrywide demand for regime change. >> the demand is already there, how do we get to that point. i think three basic important

components. the element of pressure from within can ultimately be a nationwide labor strike which brings paralysis to the system and it's a least costly way to the nation provided that they have adequate support. this is where the component comes in. as a direct policy of maximum support to the people in various ways it could be internet access and funding and labor strikes and so on and so forth that would create the emphasis. most importantly with a strong message of leadership, emanate from the outside world they send a strong message to elements that want out and want to defect and want to peel away from the regime, they need to have hope that beyond this regime is going to be a stable scenario. were not talking about a crisis or anarchy a domestic leadership is important also in the role that i'm trying to play is to provide that interim leadership within the constitutional

process that led the iranian people finally decide what they want we need to work with the leaders around the world and leaders within iran to bring the alternative in a concrete way. when this becomes more concrete for the nation then they will be more comfortable in committing ultimately to an uprising and finally putting the into the regime. maria: the uprising needs a partner in the white house and need sanctions to be the ultimate pressure to be there, give us your take on what's taken place throughout the middle east in terms of middle eastern countries being forced to take aside. under the trump administration the abraham accord was actually one area that people believed was the beginning of real peace that we could've seen throughout the middle east. do you see middle eastern countries being forced to take aside after iran's direct hit or attempted hit on israel.

>> i think there's been a growing frustration in the region for the lack of action or better say weakness if you're from the west and particularly from the united states. i cannot think for a second like somebody for that matter is really counterpart in jerusalem and would think that we would have to completely shift our viewpoint of what the regime is in the area. however, in order for this to happen that's a stronger leadership coming from the west, washington is key and european countries as well need to work together. that solidarity is very important and that's exactly what the regime had tried to do in this tactic a divide rule again, this is a time for the world to show very unconditionally that they're not going to put up with the regime behavior any longer in this regime has had over 44 decades time to behave and come true. it has it only because it cannot they started the dna that needs to be understood by the way.

first time in the cattle herd which is a jump from one species to another. this seems to be spreading, take a look at the map we can show you the states affected by this, michigan, ohio, north carolina, texas, new mexico, kansas, south dakota and idaho with the virus called age five in one. 26 total dairy farms impacted that is not a big number in the dairy producer federation tells fox business the spread at the moment is not the biggest concern. listen. >> in the larger dairy industry where we have dairy farms in all 50 states about 26000 is a relatively small number but it is concerning because it's the first time that it's been found in dairy cattle. >> as a result 18 states have banned the import of cows from those affected states primarily

states joining those affected states in the house and impact as cattle move around in the industry. good news bad news on this the good news apparently it does not kill cattle at least it hasn't yet, it reduces their milk and the bad news it can get into the milk. the virus can get into the milk but pasteurization good news will destroy it. one other note one farmworker first time ever has gotten the flu from a cow that took place down in texas and that is a concern worth noting around the world and economy is not as robust and advanced as ours 450 people have been killed by the flu over the past 20 years, not a big number but when it starts jumping from one species to another it is an item of concern especially with what we've been through in this country when it comes to viruses.

maria: are there any worries about our food supply as a result of this. >> pasteurization fortunately 99-point some odd% of our milk is pasteurized that kills the virus. also if you cook your meat for some reason if an infected cow were to get into the meat supply. as long as you cook your needs. i order my state were a good vet could bring it back so maybe i need to rethink this if this becomes a big deal. maria: if you cook your meat you're okay your killing it. >> that is correct. maria: we appreciate it. your reaction. >> i was going ask the same question will this put our prices up to milk and beef but i do ask for my beef done well well well well so i'm right on message. >> said why. >> i think this is more of a pr issue than anything because people are still so concerned with what happened with coronavirus. maria: here in new york i would
