♪ >> ainsley: we woke up this morning with sad news. it's a fox news alert. major loss in the world of country music. super star toby keith has died after a battle with stomach cancer. there's a post on his social media page announcing, quote: toby keith passed away peacefully last night surrounded by his family. he fought his fight with grace and courage. >> lawrence: back in june 2022 keith revealed his diagnosis and that he was receiving chemo and radiation and surgery. the grammy winner was known for his hit songs like courtesy of the red, white, and blue. ♪ when you hear the freedom start ringing her bell ♪ and it will feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you ♪ oh brought to you courtesy of the red, white, and blue ♪

keith performed for the very last time in december. he had a fry up fant return to the stage for three sold out shows in las vegas. >> ainsley: look at his red solo cup there. >> steve: everywhere. toby keith is survived by wife and three children. he was 62 years old. >> ainsley: after 9 9/11 courtey of the red, white, and blue came out. i went to the concerts, people were screaming holding up their lighters. he had "fox & friends" on the screen heim behind him. but is he so talented and he had a way of connecting all of us with his music. just writing about wd 40 in one song. red solo cup at the football game in the parking lot tailgating. >> lawrence: he was a traditional, you know, country singer but all the change in country music more pop and all of that he stuck with the values of country music. loved the country. loved the military as well.

friend of the show. and, you know him as kid rock. we know him as bobby richie. he joins us right now from nashville. bobby, good morning to you. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> sorry i had to break the news to you with that text. tell us about your friend, toby keith. >> man, i think so many people know what i know is, you know, he was such an incredible talent and he loved his family like he loved his country. and we should also not forget what a fun guy he was. i was thinking just when i heard the news 30 minutes ago that going through my head of all the award shows and after parties, whether it was in the back of losers, picking guitars or golf tournament or out in los angeles. some different spots throughout the years. he was just a great, great guy. we called him big dog. he was a large man. >> ainsley: like a guy's guy, right? look at him signing guitars, military, the red solo cup,

loved wrestling, loved football. what is he like? do you remember any stories? >> oh, man, stories for days. you know, one time he saved my butt. it was -- i won't get into it, but there was an incident, it was award show in los angeles. i will never forget. this and there was a rut can you say and things got crazy and i'm kind of sprawled out on a lawn outside a hotel with a bunch of cops around me and a hospital. and toby kind of stepped in, he said hey, man, i remember the cops saying back up, big boy. and he kind of handled it, he handle it so elegantly. he came over and smoothed things over. either myself or him the next morning was going on another trip to bane the troops. he mooted the whole situation out. it was a misunderstanding. and it was just so many times and like i said, the back of losers picking guitars after award show. one time i remember meeting him at club in detroit randomly.

he was in town for something that i didn't know. and he just showed up at this club and the next thing you know me him and song writing friend scotty got in this little car i h it was just a sedan, and is he a large man. there is like, i don't know, five of news this sedan. and we go back to my house. and that's -- that's when he goes check out this new song we just got done writing, and, of course, i love this bar. one of my favorite toby songs. i will never forget that sitting around my studio just on a whim, so many great memories, such a talent. you know he is going to be missed. >> brian: kid rock, did you know how serious his illness was? i got the sense just from the outside perspective that he was going to make a comeback on this after we saw him at that award show. did you get that sense, too? >> man, i'm going to regret -- you know, i knew i had sent him a few texts here and there. hey, we are pulling for you and love you.

he said you know i'm fighting. i was just out in las vegas when he was playing. i said to my fiancee, i said we had this commitment. i said man, i should blow this commitment off and go see toby. i just felt that that's what i should do and i didn't. and i'm going to regret that but, no i didn't know that it was in this stage. unfortunately. >> you know, kid, before we let you go. i know you have been a big supporter of the military but toby was as well. talk about his affection for the military. >> i mean, every time -- we used to joke about who went over there more. because me and him definitely, you know, ten if not 20 times we had been there, spending christmas and thanksgiving, you know, just whenever we were called, we went to do it. sometimes we called them and had a lot of conversations about that about how it was the most rewarding thing we had ever done in our careers, but it was almost the most work. so, you know, i dare say he probably went more than i did. but, yeah. i mean, what a great patriot to

just do that for -- you know, people forget how long these wars were. you know, so, you know, when you are thinking about vietnam or the other world wars. we had the bob hope thing, this, that, and the other, thoughst most of those were four years or. so these were 10 plus years of going all the time. we used to joke like isn't there some younger kids that should be going over at this point? but, yeah, what a great patriot, can't say enough great things about him. he was a great, great man. he was a lot of fun. so funny and a lot of fun. >> brian: way too young, 62 years old. >> my heart goes out to his family and friends in nashville. all around the country and around the world. especially thinking of his wife and children right now. >> steve: bob richie also known as kid rock. bobby, thank you so much for remembering your friend patriot, fun guy, big guy. big man. >> long live big dog. >> ainsley: i wonder what will happen in nashville?

that's where we pick up on these headlines here. a fox news alert. prince harry was recently spotted at lax airport as he travels to the u.k. to visit his father. king charles has been diagnosed with cancer and postponed all public engagements as he undergoes treatment. the prognosis is reportedly good. and british prime minister rishi sunak says the cancer was caught, quote, very early. in about 15 minutes, piers morgan will join us to discuss. on to another fox news alert. the house rules committee voting overnight to advance the impeachment case against homeland security secretary alejandro mayorkas. house majority whip tom emmer joined us earlier and did not mince words. >> i'm confident if we have our members here that we should be able to do this. it is time to hold secretary mayorkas accountable. we have no other way to do this. he will not resign, despite the fact that he has willfully refused to enforce our federal

these images have been apprehended, apparently in phoenix. >> unbelievable. plus, another group of migrants have been arrested for allegedly dragging a woman down a new york city street as they stole her purse. >> brian: madeleine rivera joins us with the latest developments. update us, won't you? >> hey, good morning, brian, steve, lawrence and ainsley. a lot of things going on. i do want to begin with the suspects arrested in phoenix there are still details we are waiting for like the identity of suspects and which migrations were arrested. immigration and custom sources tell fox they are suspected of being involved in this beating of two nypd officers in times square. remember, six suspects were arrested and charged, but only one was held on cash bail. police sources had told us some of the five who were released left new york to head to california-mexico border, rather. now it appears based on what multiple ice sources are telling us at least some of their journeys were cut short with some somebodies being arrested at greyhound bus station in

i know the royal family meteorologist means so much to you. so sorry for your pierces and your community what does it say to you to know that harry, who they had the big falling out is getting on a plane to go see his dad? how serious is this? >> i think it must be very serious. >> and i felt this from the moment the statement was released last night here in the u.k. at about 6:00 p.m. our time about 1:00 p.m. eastern your time. and it was the nature of the statement. it was the fact that during this procedure for a relatively straightforward benign prostate issue. they clearly went away and did some more tests presumably on some tissue they took and it seems to have come back in the last three, maybe four days maximum, with the news that he had cancer elsewhere in his body. and it's that that sent a real shock wave, i think, to the did you know tri in fact around the world as you can see by the response from people everywhere, really, it's the very last thing, ainsley that we want in

this country, we're still really in the mourning period for the great elizabeth. only 17 months ago we lost her. obviously just lost prince philip her great rock just before she died. we have fergie the dutch says of york cancer, several cancers she has new monarch king charles iii has cancer. jumped on a plane to fly all the way to london. i'm afraid i think this is a serious situation. >> ainsley: out of respect for the family you don't want to have these conversations but because they are the monarch, you have to plan for the future. what happens if -- i mean it would be william, but then william's kids are so little, who would be next in line. would it be harry after that until the children grow up. >> god forbid we have queen meghan with all due respect. the reality of the situation, there is two things that could happen here. well, three, actually, one is

that charles makes a good recovery. there is a report in the daily mail today that they may have caught this other cancer early and, in fact, dr. marc siegel was saying he thinks it might be bladder cancer. that is one of the things you can get on discovery if you are dealing around the prostate area. and if you have caught that early the prognosis could be good. let's assume for argument sake he is incapacitated for quite a while, in that eventuality, if he is not able to perform his duties as a monarch constitutional duties which are incredibly important including, of course, appointing a new prime minister, which will have to be done this year. if charles can't end up doing that because the treatment he is having, then you would move to a situation where one of his special counselors would be appointed to do those duties on his behalf, now, there were quite a few of those and they included harry and beatrice and some of the other lesser royals. but recently charles decided to

reduce that number to just four. and they all had to be working royals. no andrew, no harry, no beatrice, it's basically it's just camilla, his wife. it's william, and then his two -- his brother edward and sister ann. one of them could be appointed to effectively be king while he is still alive or queen if it was ann in that circumstance. but, if he was to die, then you would move to a situation where prince william would immediately exaccede to the throne as charles did for the queen. if, god forbid there was some catastrophe, william was to die, then you would get into the succession line and his three children as you say would all be too young. then you would get into a position of a regent king, which hasn't happened for centuries where you would have somebody appointed effectively to act

alongside -- the oldest son. but this is completely uncharted territory. fair to say britain has gone into a big shock over. this no doubt that charles canceling all of his public engagements and the nature of the statement they put out on harry flying straight to be here in london despite all the problems they have had as a family, that says to me, this is a serious situation. >> ainsley: any word on kate how she is doing? i just read that william was spending time with her after her surgery and now he is coming back out after all of this news. >> very difficult for william and camillela. the queen has to go out and do all of her engagements with the love of her life possibly in a life or death situation. kate we know little about her. abdominal issue. it must have been serious because she is taking months and months off work.
