to ride momentum in the state of the union address at a campaign event in battleground georgia yesterday. but, in an interview that aired yesterday he said he regretted calling her accused of murder a quote illegal during the state of the union. many fellow democrats criticize that comment sang it dehumanized the suspect. hello everyone welcome to "fox news live" i have arthel neville hi eric. ersuper thank you for joining ui am eric shawn we know the tragic details of the brutal murder of lakin riley is still fresh in our minds. police in athens georgia to the 22-year-old nursing student was killed after she went for a run at the university of georgia campus. they say she was found in a wooded area murdered by blunt force trauma and illegal in venezuela. he has a length any criminal record and the u.s. here is president biden explaining his about-face on that illegal turn.

>> you use the word illegal when talking about the man who allegedly killed lakin riley. >> undocumented, undocumented should not have used illegal it's undocumented. when i spoke about the different things one of things i talked about on the border was the way he talks about burma and the way talks about these people polluting the blood what i won't do. i'm not going to treat any of these people with disrespect. they built the country. the reason our economy is growing. >> lucas tomlinson a light at the white house with reaction rate we are not talking about immigrants who help build the country we are talking about someone who is illegal, who is accused of a murdering a beautiful young woman lakin riley a very. >> every. >> that is right. we use the term illegal to describe the alleged killer of

9:08 am
trump there was something you had but the former president said no. >> 's not just the former president their self or others that said during an election year is not the time to resolve this. this is been a major port of contention between president trump, president biden because president biden has been unwilling to enforce the board he has tools right now to be able to make a significant difference. he is choosing not to do those and he famously talks about my first day in office but i presented bipartisan plan. his bipartisan plan he presented the first day in office was wide legalization of everyone who is here illegally in opening our borders out. then he took executive actions to open the border upward the bill i was bringing as president biden deportations a or must double the deportations. we change the way we define asylum we rapidly change the way we deport people out.
9:09 am
it's been false it brings the detained persons will have the capacity right close at that point screening and deporting from the very first person that came across. so yes i said out loud at that time president biden was saying was true what he was conveniently leaving out was executive authority she's chosen not to use pretty could drop the number by thousands right now. he chooses not to do that. we need additional authority the president trump asked for and he was president to change the way we handle aside them. he looks at mean and he is so

behind-the-scenes to get hamas to agree to the cease-fire that is step one and it's really up to what hamas does right now. arthel: of course i want to acknowledge that human suffering for the remaining 100 or so people being held hostage by the terrorists. their grieving families, the millions plus palestinians on the brink of starvation. they are grieving families watching from afar. is there a way to end the human toll? >> it is a cease-fire the plan is that the cease-fire covers ramadan that goes to early april they would like to build that into a larger settlement president biden's goal is also to get this a bigger sweeping settlement in the middle east. the problem right now and what worries me is with president biden's casual criticisms of israel one of the main pressures on hamas as a threat of action
9:27 am
of the military power is what will get them to agree if that seems to be weakening it may be just that much harder to get hamas to agree to it and you are quite right the hostages are the sticking points but it sounds to me that hamas is not eager to give up that block of hostages that's part of the cease-fire negotiation right now. arthel: this is not bad enough there's tension in the middle east is spreading where do you see this heading and who could becoming snarled? >> first of all our u.s. military forces in the region are installed right now. they launched at least 28 drones yesterday all intercepted we also have to worry about ira iranian, where the nuclear buildup continues and no one has made into inspecting five years. right now the cease-fire and settling the gaza issue is so key to all of this and with the ramadan beginning there are
