of the iranian higher gc. is that something the united states should have been aware of? >> the fact iran has been playing a negative role through the middle east using it's agent to instigate this violence and terror against israel but also against the american forces is a given back. i can't relate to specific incidents you just mentioned whether it was israel or some 1 else, but the fact is the iranian regime must understand there is no immunity or impunity for its active terror regionally. we are working at this to getting more balance in the other regions and bringing in more weapons to the area so that what were seeing in gaza and the destruction hamas has brought palestinians there will spread. we won't allow this nor should the u.s. >> martha: with regard to president biden, you know, saying don't is that strong enough language to iran? obviously they are and they did.
12:17 pm

12:19 pm
but a very vocal minority. we've been here and is vary studio, when those masses launched an attack over christmas and as long as they stand there in support of terror unable to utter 1 denunciation of the captivity has baby's decapitation of babies and execution of ordinary citizens and these have no legitimacy. there are nothing more than useful idiots martha. [ chanting ] >> martha: what will it take to reach some kind of agreement to get the remaining hostages, it's heartbreaking the numbers we are hearing about how many may even be left, there should be over 100 left. apparently hamas can't come up with 40 people to return at this point. what are you learning on that? >> according to their answer barely 20 it tells us the kind of torture and torment these poor hostages are going through. israel has gone more than just the extra mile to try to get hostages out and willing to make considerable concessions but clearly hamas is unwilling to settle for anything aside from
12:20 pm
their maximalist demands which israel will not give. at the same time we have to understand we must have our hostages out and we will do so in whatever way we can. but hamas needs to be willing to concede to a deal and as long as they see pressure coming or matching on israel from the outside, they won't concede to anything. >> the posture from the white house as being, you know, our hands art on any of this. we'll not support a retaliation by israel at this point. what do you make of that? >> the fact is the iranian forces have been attacking u.s. forces for so many years including recent months. the american response of looking the other way and cleaning it's not raining won't work. the iranians understand very well that language of appeasement which is not going to go very well with what's happening in the middle east and with american forces safety. only a strong stance against iraq and when this. >> martha: what about the safety of the people of israel?
12:21 pm
iran has made it clear they look at this different -- different lean out. there at a new level of engagement because their firing missiles from iran into the country of israel. they say its in a chapter. >> if they are allowed to do so with impunity then the people of israel and the world we'll be a much more risk. we had to stand up to this evil in order to stop it. we won't be able to stop it by appeasing it martha. >> martha: alright we are watching these protests as they continue to grow. did you ever think he would see this day in america? >> i'm telling you this is utterly disappointing and heartbreaking because to me when i hear those chants i'm only think about the pain and suffering not just of israelis but think about the palestinians suffering and hamas bring into this people are calling this pro- palestinian? pro- palestinian is deposing hamas not supporting it. >> martha: who, you know, you think about the shift that we have seen so quickly really. you look at what's happening in the election, are you concerned president biden is acting out of fear with her to the election?
12:22 pm
>> i sure hope not. backbone we'll arsenate well with voters and what were seeing out exactly as we said i'm shocked and amazed i couldn't believe it myself i thought the understanding of the situation would last beyond 24 hours but the fact is you are right. we've seen this kind of behaviour even the same day of the massacre. but we will not forget. >> martha: thank you for joining us. >> always a pleasure. >> martha: let's go to claudia callan live at the golden gate bridge with a look at what's happening. looks like some cars are actually moving at this point claudia what's going on? red-mac yes, they are at least in the southbound direction on the 101 freeway crossing the golden gate bridge. traffic on the other side of the freeway there are opening moments ago and i'm told northbound behind me is about open momentarily. it's certainly quite a sight here seen this freeway at least on the northbound side completely empty of cars.
