rain in the next few hours in the north bay. temperatures much warmer in the mid and upper 40's. this is a level 1 system over the weekend. allowing showers with us snow over the hills. as we time it up for you to see 8:00, some spotty showers towards penta rosa. 9:00, 10:00, there is the front in the north bay. sweeps across the bay area through the morning hours. look at the temperatures, upper 40's to low 50's. it is chilly. we will see scattered showers throughout the rest of the day. sunday not looking as wet but it looks like we will keep that level 1 system with us, keep the cool temperatures, lower the snow levels and add in thunderstorms. liz: you could keep weather conditions as the storm moves through the bay area and

access the same doppler seven hour weather team uses. that is on-demand on the abc 7 bay area news app. new developments out of san jose. the manix -- accused of hiding explosive materials -- the first explosion dramm not far from the oakridge mall. the second one not much later on santa teresa boulevard. the suspect made his first appearance in court where he was denied bail. amanda del castillo you has the details. amanda: the 37-year-old accused of having explosives on his family home making his first court appearance friday. linking him to explosions of two transformers not far from where he lived. this 21 page complaint bringing to light a december 8 blast that damaged a transformer on thornwood drive outside oakridge mall.

material inside the home they expect to be on scene for at least five more days. in san jose, abc7news. liz: in the north bay, students are rallying for safety on campus after the stabbing that happened inside of a classroom. students in santa rosa walked out of their classroom yesterday. the walkout came two days after 16-year-old was stabbed by another student at montgomery high school 10 minutes away. police stabbing happened during a confrontation between multiple students and now they are demanding action from the school to prevent similar incidents. sound but the 15-year-old freshman accused of stabbing jaden and another student have been arrested. new developments in the ransomware attack that happened in oakland last month. the hacker group play is taking

responsibility. they plan to release private documents that were obtained to the public. and includes passports, ids,fisg with authorities to validate the group's claims. back to our storm coverage. the weather will dump more snow on the sierra mountains. on top of that, the already above average snow could break the existing record set 40 years ago. the california department of water resources carried out the third sierra snow survey at phillips station near lake tahoe yesterday. they found the snow deck was just over 116 inches. the water content was 41.5 inches. that puts the snowpack level at 177% of average. last week'

overseen 55,000 drug injections. they have reversed more than 700 overdoses. it has also connected more than 2200 people to treatment. another point of interest for this group from san francisco is what is happening on the streets outside of the safe consumption sites. how is impacting the local neighborhoods. i was impacting that as well. liz: thmeantime, take a look at the lights on the bay bridge right now. the iconic feature to san francisco's skyline is coming down tomorrow. it may not be forever. aluminate, the group behind hoping to turn the lights back on over labor day weekend with twice as many lights visible on both sides of the bridge. today you could brighten your

peninsula, it is going to be a quick mover. by 1:00 heading out to the south bay, those snow levels. we have a winter weather advisory for the hills of the north bay here. we could see up to 10 inches of snow. the cold air moving in behind the front is when the atmosphere becomes right for thunderstorms. some isolated showers sunday, monday, tuesday. taking us over an inch of rain here within a half inch. this quick mover this morning. more rain tonight and then some isolated showers into your sunday. all with a very cold air mass and breezy wind with each rotation of showers that moves through. it will be cool, anywhere from 20-30 mile-per-hour winds onshore throughout the afternoon today. that will keep temperatures well below average. as we look through the next

not work. michael: the man in line offered advice. >> the fella inside said if you have the chip in your card, you could tap it. mih worked, she thanked the man and walked off. >> the next morning i looked at my bank account. michael: to her shock, she saw three more withdraws. $940 were gone. >> i said that guy scammed me last night. >> i thought he was just using the atm. michael: the same thing happened to rob bell at the same atm. when the card reader didn't work, the man leaned in. >> you have to use the tap function. michael: rob tapped his card, took his cash, and walked off. $565 gone.

>> my initial reaction was i did not withdraw that much money. michael: justin sindelar tapped his apple watch and withdrew $40. later he found five more withdraws in a row. $960, gone. >> someone walked up to the atm right after i used it and withdrew money from the account again. michael: victims complained to the bank manager. >> i reported this to police, it has been happening. michael: this scam starts with glue. >> they put glue in the card reader of the atm machines so you cannot use your cards. michael: customers tap their card instead. when you tap, the account remains open for more transactions unless the customer proactively logs out. some customers do not know this. scammers do.

they wait for the victim to leave, they continue making withdrawals on their account. all three victims filed a claim with chase bank. all three were denied. the bank said the customers authorized those withdrawals. >> that is definitely not true. >> why would i do four separate transactions in a row? >> they should have a picture of who actually did it. michael: victim said chase would not review because the amounts were below $5,000. so pamela filed her claim again, again, and again. she finally replace the money. the banks finally refunded justin and rob. when using at atm, be vigilant in using your pin number and make sure you logged out. >> i will never use that little tap function again. liz: chase did not multiple withdraws did not trigger a fraud alert or why the

announcer: building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc7news. liz: more rain and snow on the way this weekend. where they are warning drivers not to go. when and where we could expect snow in the bay area. snow in the bay area? lisa: it is going to be cold enough but not a whole lot of moisture. it seems like we can't get out of the 40's and 50's except for that nice day we had on thursday. there is more rain offshore. this is a level 1 system that has provided the clouds early on to keep us milder. mid-40's right now.

with this system hanging out over the weekend we will blanket it with rain and gusty winds. the cold front moves through in the morning and again tonight. snow over the highest peaks. there is a look at 8:00, spotty showers. here comes the front stopping this at 10:00 in the north bay. showers over into concorde. it clears the south bay by about 1:00. we are left with clouds, spotty showers, low snow levels and a snow advisory for the hills of the north bay. some snow accumulation by announcing helena. five-10 inches above 3000 feet. the snow levels down to about 2500 feet. chance of thunderstorms and more precipitation on the way for the next several days. we will plotted out, coming up. liz: a building in south lake tahoe was crushed by the weight of the snow that has fallen in the past couple of days.

people there are waking up, working to dig out the heavy snow as a storm starts today. right now, officials are warning people about what the rain and snow will be. they say travel will be dangerous to impossible. after seeing 12 feet of snow in the last week alone and another 3-5 feet of snow is expected today. at least 10 people have been killed by powerful storms moving across the country. in texas, you could see a flash of light. this is one of seven tornadoes in the last 24 hours. in southern california in crestline in the san bernardino mountains, first responders are working to clear roads. families are stranded and not able to leave their home. >> we don't have supplies to last 7-10 days. >> a few days ago we were standing on top of our cars shoveling them out. liz: this video shows a

line of people who were able to leave their house to get food and supplies. the judge presiding over the alex murdaugh double murder has sentenced the once powerful lawyer to life in prison. the disgraced former south carolina attorney will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murders of his wife and 22-year-old son. the jury took less than three hours to reach a verdict. murdoch claimed his innocence and this is how the judge responded. >> it might not have been you. it have become. take 15, 20, 30, pills, maybe you become another person. >> murdoch's lawyer plans appeal the decision. today in oakland, the families

of murder victims will address the homicide and violence that have plagued the city. they have investigated 17 homicides this year. the families will hold a press conference alongside some violence prevention organizations. they are expected to address the firing of police chief armstrong. he has filed an appeal. the reparations tax task force will meet about the lingering impact of slavery and discrimination. a hearing in december, members talked about how to pay african-american families impacted by slavery and exactly who to pay reparations. they focused on housing discrimination and over policing of black communities. public comment is open today from 9:00 until 10:00. the task force is scheduled to release its final report july 1. bernie sanders will be in the
