malibu. it's about 46 degrees here this morning. and the camera is doing a little moving around. there's a little bit of wind out there. we do have that area of w pressure sneaking out towards the east of us, wrapping around some showers here in southern california, northern california. now we have lot of viewers right now from the bay area, nice to have you here. we are looking out into san francisco, the bay, not dealing with much today other than some also cold, sinking air that's coming back in new. your forecast winter weather advisories across southern california mountaicommunities still are lingering around through about 4:00 today. we are going to expect to see some required chains. if you are heing up to the mountains. there's still some slick roadway conditions and this purple color here. this is going to be our high surf advisory out tards our coastline. we do have 4 to 8 footers, bigger sets heading into santa barbara smaller as we get south. and if you are into areas of long beach, really just looking at pretty small waves slappers at best. now here's our ridge of high pressure that's going to be building in for the next few days. so for most of us, we're going to be warming

up.an francisco 63 degrees expected as we get into your friday. and then it looks like 68 degrees here in southern californialos angeles area, a little bit warmer for san luis obispo, about 73 degrees. a those temperatures cool right back down as we geinto your weekend saturday. it's 59 grees saturday in los angeles about 70. and then as we make your way intyour sunday, sunday we're back to about 58 degrees in san fran. and then over into areas of los angeles. it's going to be about to 68. so we are shifting some here and there noticing too, that now a new system is also dropping into the bay area. and by looks like sunday afternoon into the evening, you're going to start to see some more rainfall for us here in southern california. we're going to sit this one out. it looks like we're probably at best going to get a nice little cool down some more clouds. and that's about all for us here in southern california and for southern california. i think w might be able to say goodbye to while. so that'll be a nice shift to we might have some wraparound showers later on this afternoon, increasi for san bernardino, inland empire and foothill communities. so just keep that in mind later on today if the rain starts to pick up in intensity, just know that that's some leftover

going, brianna? good morning has been pretty slow so far. >> we do have some areas where it's beginning to slow down, some of it typical traffic, some of it's roadwork. and then we've had some minor accidents, some breakdowns. we've had some flat tires. unfortunately, this morning because of some potholes. so be careful for those. our roads are a mess e to recent storms. but i do want to take you over here. it looks like we ve a car that broke down, which might be on the 110 southbound, but we've been seeing some delays jus a bit on the 105 as well. so the transition road part of it might be blocked off. heading on to the 105 from the 110 south. we're not seeing too many delays. we did see a little bit on the 105 westbound right after you pass that 110, but again, it looks like it might be that transition road, not too big of an air 7 hd with another look at your drive this morning over the 101 freeway. hey scott. >> yeah good morning brianna. good morning everyone. it is fantastic. the one on one looks good. the valley looks good. the 405, the 101, even the five. and boy we got a treat for youere in a moment. there's the one on one at vermont. and you can tell e lume is light a little volume on the northbound side.

of the government open past march 22nd could be more difficul party leaders don't yet ha an agreement on that package, and it covers the department of homeland security. >> new this morng, a massive fire at an auto shop in van nuys . this happened on van nuy boulevard near valerio street, just after midnight. fire firefighters close to a half hour to put the flames out. nobody was hurt and the cause of that fire now being investigated. >> a man died after he was taken to police custody in fullerton . this happened early yesterday morning at a mcdonald's near brookhurst and orangethorpe fullerton. police say they responded to a disturbanccall and found a manctin erratically. >> the reporting party was the manager of the business, and she was concerned for the safety of her employees that were g to be arriving at work. >> police officers claim that suspect did not cooperate and they used a taser and beanbag rounds to take him into custody. he later died at the hospital.

his identity has not yet been releas. cused of leading police on ady, wild chase in a stolen box truck. this started yesterday morning in culver city. you could see the driver in the lowe's truck weaving dangerously through traffic. the pursuit moved rough pacific palisades, then malibu, thousand oaks, and then finally camarillo. the driver hit another box truck on the 101 in newby park several times.he stolen truck eventually got stu iventura and officers fired tear gas into the cab. the suspect ran out, but was en taken into custody. >> today, l.a. mayor karen bass is awaiting approval from the city council on a new deal with the state to clean up homeless encampments near freeway freeways. thos are typically caltrans or state properties. the new agreement basically cuts through red tape to allow l.a. city crews to go into the sites and clear trash and debris, and the state will reimburse the city for the cleanup costs. the plan still needs approval by the l.a. board of public works and the city council, which is

out like you said. and look at the tent is a they ve all the drapes up. it's, it's coming along here. this is actually hollywood boulevard, so the step and repeat is on that far side. the stars make their way through here. they talk to all the international media, and then here, going towards the iconic steps that lead into the dolby thter. s this is that famous walkway that we're all familiar with now. yesterday, all eyes were on the red carpet as it was rolledut along hollywood boulevard. the big news was that they flipped the script and went back to the traditional red carpet. compared to the champagne carpet last year, the academy wanted to have a different look from last year, and you'll also see that in the drapery and the step and repeat where all the photos are taken. now we also got a sneak peek at the oscars green room hosted by rolex. the space is described as anasis for presenters and winners before and after there. on stage sunday night, the room pays homage to shapes and textures in the rolex collection. jimmy kimmel will be on stage hosting the academy

awards and his wife, molly mcnearney, is an executive producer of the show. yesterday she talked with us about what it's like for him in his fourth time hosting. >> we definitely learn lessons each time jimmy gets more and morefortable, i get more and more nervous. it's kind of our dynamic, i think that jimmy just has really become very relaxed as a host. he knows room really wellheas a lot of respect for the room and likes to have fun. >> and so here we are, having some fun on the red carpehere we've got the scissor lifts. there's a lot of work still to be done. there's still plenty of time. they've got a couple of days till that countdown for oscar sunday and we have all the best spots on this carpet. of cosee've got george pennacchio. he's got that number one spot that he s ever year. d then rachel, leslie, i know you all are going to be involved, so we're going to keep it warm for you out here, relatively speaking. >> thank you tony get the space

here's a look at our top stories this morning. president biden is set to deliver his state of the union address tonight. his speech will focus on the border and the economy. >> an investigation is underway after a fire broke out at an auto shop in van nuys. no one was hurt. >> and heavy snowfall is causing some traffic issues and running rings. if you're heading to the mountains this weekend, pack your chains. you can always stay up to date on the freabc seven los angeles app. >> alabama's governor has signed legislation protecting ivf providers from legal liability. the bill was signed after it was approved in a late night session by lawmakers. they were scrambling to address a wave of criticism after services were halted at some of the state's largest fertility clinics last month, the state's supreme court ruled that frozen embryos are considered children. the state's

three major ivf providers then paused services because of liability concerns. ladies and gentlemen, we realize something happened. >> not what you want to hear when you're on a plane. dramatic video shows flames bursting out of the engine of a united airlines flight shortly after taking off. passengers say there was a loud bang and violent shaking moments after the plane left houston. this was on monday night. the flight was its way to florida, but had to return to houston. passengers later got on a new plane. the faa is now investigating >> the frightening video from a san bernardino barbershop shows a pair of clippers bursting into flames. a barber sayhe just finished giving a man a haircut. when this happenednobody was hurt, the barber says. the clippers were only two months old. he says they're growing in popularity because they're cordless. we did reach out to

uvalde city leaders are set to release their own findings into the robb elementary school shooting. this is just one of the many investigaons into the hesitant response by local police. earlier this year, the department of justice released their findings criticizing the failures from the 2022 shooting that left 19 students and two teachers dead. council members will meet privately before presenting the results to the public for comment. >> the armorer from the film rust is in stody this morning after she was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. hannah gutierrez-reed is facg up to 18 months in prison when she's sentenced next month. prosecutors say it was her job to oversee the guns, and she was responsible for bringing live rounds onto set. the defense shifted blame to alec baldwin, who was holding that gun when it went off, and handling it, reads. camp plans to appeal that was her job to check those rounds, those firearms, and if no one wanted to pay attention or do that, then she could stop
