marathon. from york. >> this is america this morning. >> good tuesday morning, everyone. i'm andrew dymburt. >> good morning to you i'm rhiannon ally. we want to begin with growing concerns over how israel may retaliate for iran's historic attack. >> over the weekend, president biden says the u.s. will not join any potential counterattack against iran. meanwhile, there's a new plan on capitol hill to provide more u.s. aid for israel as the war in gaza drags on. >> it comes a day after pro-palestinian protesters shut down highways in several major u.s. cities, causing chaos. dozens were arrested. >> let's get right to abc's perry russom with the latest. perry. good morning. >> andrew, good morning to you. israel says they will respond to iran's attack, but it's unclear what that response will look like. this morning, israel's military chief says they will respond to iran's historic attack over the weekend. but he did not say when or how iran will face the consequences for

its actions. >> we will choose our response according. >> israel is under international pressure to de-escalate this conflict, considering the iranian attack caused little damage. officials tell abc's matt gutman there are multiple options for retaliation from a targeted strike on an iranian commander in a third country to an attack directly on iran. and it seems the security establishment here in israel is convinced that they have to reestablish deterrence against iran to send the signal that this cannot happen again. but i'm told that every move is being carefully calibrated, not to squander this defensive coalition. the u.s. built to protect israel. iran's attack on israel coming less than two weeks after a suspected israeli airstrike in syria killed two iranian generals, president biden has warned israel the u.s. will not participate in any counteroffensive against iran. this all happening against the backdrop of the war in gaza, where israel is battling hamas, the militant group funded by

iran. israel's military has vowed to carry out a ground offensive in rafah, gaza's southernmost city, where more than 1 million people are sheltering here in the u.s. pro-palestinian protests in multiple cities yesterday resulting in more than 140 arrests in new york, protesters stopping traffic on the brooklyn bridge. protesters also shutting down the expressway into chicago's o'hare airport. a similar scene near sea-tac airport in washington and in california. the traffic on the golden gate bridge stopped in both directions for four hours. and then here in washington, a new step toward providing more u.s. aid to israel. house speaker mike johnson is dividing aid packages for israel, ukraine and taiwan into separate bills. votes are expected this week. andrew. >> we'll have to see how it all shakes. shakes out this week, perry. thank you. the university of southern california says this year's valedictorian, who is pro-palestinian, will not be allowed to speak at graduation. the university blames security concerns surrounding the valedictorians social media

posts. she says she's been facing racist hatred. >> the body of a fourth construction worker killed in the baltimore bridge collapse has been recovered. the remains were found in the submerged work vehicle, which was on the bridge before it was hit by a cargo ship last month, killing six workers, the associated press reports. the ship, which lost power before the crash, had apparent electrical issues earlier while it was docked. the fbi has opened a criminal investigation. >> jury selection resumes this morning at former president trump's hush money trial, as we learn why many potential jurors have already been dismissed. this morning, former president trump returns to a manhattan courtroom where prosecutors and defense attorneys have the task of seating a jury in trump's historic criminal case. >> nothing like this has ever happened before has never been anything like it, trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to star stormy daniels to keep their alleged affair secret from voters before the 2016 election.

>> he's pleaded not guilty yesterday, 96 potential jurors were included in the first group. at least 50 of them were excused after raising their hand, claiming they could not be fair or impartial. reporters described trump turning to face the potential jurors, eliciting visible responses. one woman, giggling hand over her mouth, eyebrows raised as she recognized trump, one of the excused jurors was later heard saying i just couldn't do it. about a dozen other people were excused for other reasons. the potential jurors remaining answered a seven page questionnaire that screens for bias. >> the judge is making some initial cuts based on the responses to those jury questionnaires. then the lawyers get to question the remaining potential jurors. one on one, each side can cut up to ten people for almost any reason by the end of yesterday, not a single juror was seated. >> leaving court, trump complained about the scheduling conflicts created by the trial, including with his presidential campaign and potentially with his son. barron's high school graduation. >> and i can't go to my son's

graduation with it. i can't go to the united states supreme court that i'm not in georgia or florida or north carolina campaigning like i should be. >> judge mershon has not officially ruled on trump's request to attend barron's graduation next month, saying it really depends on if we are on time and where we are in the trial. the judge did rule that trump cannot attend oral arguments at the supreme court next week. when trump's hearing on presidential immunity gets underway. jury selection could take two weeks. the trial could take more than six weeks. >> after that, the former weapons supervisor on alec baldwin's movie rust has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. that is the maximum sentence hannah gutierrez could get for involuntary manslaughter after the death of crew member halyna hutchins, who was shot when a gun that was held by baldwin went off, the judge said. gutierrez showed no remorse. >> you were the armorer, the one that stood between a safe weapon and a weapon that could kill someone. you alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon. but

for you, miss hutchins would be alive. >> she was a scapegoat. you look at her role and what the other people's role was. several people talk about producers today and what they did and how they rushed environment. they created the safety problems. >> alec baldwin's trial will begin in july. now to a developing story concert giant live nation, owner of ticketmaster, could face a major lawsuit from the government. >> one potential issue ticket fees. here's abc's lionel moise this morning. >> a potential legal challenge for live nation, the parent company of ticketmaster. the justice department is expected to file an antitrust lawsuit against live nation entertainment. the wall street journal reports. the suit will allege the nation's biggest concert promoter has leveraged its dominance in a way that undermined competition for ticketing live events. the two companies merged in 2010 despite concerns about a potential monopoly. cause, baby, now we can get. as post-pandemic concerts boomed. taylor swift

fans had bad blood. hundreds took the company to court for its botched rollout for tickets to the heiress tour, claiming fraud and price fixing. >> the tickets are so overpriced that the average person isn't going to be able to go anymore. >> the meltdown made it nearly impossible for some to get tickets. lawmakers in washington vowed to investigate. >> this is all a definition of monopoly. >> if you care about the consumer, kept the price. >> live nation blames scalpers and bots pretending to be human customers. >> we apologize to the fans. we apologize to miss swift. we need to do better. do you love me? >> are you riding? drake fans also sued over alleged price fixing live nation has insisted it does not set or control ticket prices outside of its service fee. it also previously reached an agreement with the justice department after being accused of bullying venues into using the ticketmaster platform,

accusations it's denied the company, saying it has no interest in threatening or retaliating against venues that consider or choose other ticketing companies. it's unclear what this antitrust lawsuit could seek, whether the government would potentially try to break up the company, or not, the wall street journal reports. the lawsuit is expected in the coming weeks. rhiannon. andrew. >> all right. lionel, thank you for that. a new warning about the impact of climate change on the oceans. noaa says the world is experiencing a new coral bleaching event. more than half the world's coral reef areas have seen bleaching in the last year, including parts of florida. it could be the worst on record. the reefs are home to countless marine species. >> yeah, this is a really big deal. the ocean is just systematically getting warmer. but one of the important things to note is that we still have time. we have time to keep leaning into some of the solutions that we are going forward with, trying to fight some of the challenges of

brought the two strangers together. >> callers advising there's a female shot in the driveway. >> 81 year old william brock, now charged with murdering 61 year-old hall. police say hall had been asked through the uber app to pick up a package at brock's home, unaware brock had been getting threatening calls from the same scammers that ordered the uber ride. police say the scam involved one or multiple suspects, claiming that one of brock's relatives was in jail and needed money, that demand then leading to threats. once hall arrived to pick up the package, presumably the money being demanded, brock is seen holding her at gunpoint, demanding to know who had called him. a scuffle followed police say brock shot her three times and did not call 911 until after the shooting. >> did you shoot her? yes, i did okay. she's laying in the driveway. yeah. >> brock saying he thought hall was working with the man who had threatened him over the phone, and he was telling me he was
