april afternoon by 4:00 pm inland. we're into the 80s around the bay shoreline, well into the 70s even along the coast it feels quite nice. into the 60s we go. so looking at highs today, above average, we'll hit 80 in antioch, 81 in san jose, 70 in the city, 75. in oakland, 76. in santa cruz, 77. the high in napa. we'll take a look at how long this warm weather lasts for you. coming up in seven minutes, drew. >> thank you. a rising star in san francisco's political world resigns and could be facing an investigation amid serious sexual assault allegations. our media partners at the sf standard spoke with three women, accusing john jacobo of domestic violence and sexual assault. the women told the standard they all filed police reports, but say that those reports didn't go anywhere. jacobo was a director for the housing nonprofit tenants and owners development corporation. sf standard reporter josh cain says the women feared further violence from jacobo if they spoke out. >> these accusations are very explosive, very damaging and

there was a lot of fear for not only their professional careers but also their safety. >> san francisco's police chief says his department is investigating the three women's reports. san francisco supervisor hillary ronen is now calling for a hearing on how the city handles sexual harassment and assault cases. >> to not see any progress after we've put resources and created a new department to focus in on that issue, it's a real disappointment. >> as for jacobo, he did not respond to the standard's request for comment on the story . >> a san francisco jail is set to reopen today, while a second one is still closed. both jails locked down over the weekend due to violence at both facilities. abc seven news reporter ryan curry live at the jail on seventh and bryant streets. and ryan. there was another attack at one of the jails. >> yeah, that's right, kumasi, the sheriff told reporters yesterday two inmates had barricaded themselves in a cell in san bruno with handmade weapons. because of that, that

jail still remains closed. while the san francisco one is set to reopen. the two jails have been under lockdown since last friday, while authorities investigated recent attacks. the sheriff says as many as seven staff members and nine deputies have been injured since late march. deputies warned the sheriff something like this would happen nearly 100 of them signed a letter saying in november to the sheriff. critical levels of staffing shortages. deputies in san bruno said they were mentally and physically exhausted. fights, drug use and assaults. staff had said they have seen them increase. the sheriff described some of the injuries over the past week. >> as i mentioned, we've had a number of deputies go out on injuries that include punches to the head, face and neck. being spit at and kicked in, the head slammed against walls, which result in the injuries of bone fractures, dislocated shoulders and bloody eye sockets

>> the sheriff tells us one of the main reasons for this uptick in violence is the lack of space to spread out prisoners. another main factor, he says, is the large number of violent offenders who are remaining in custody for longer periods of time. however staffing shortage remains a huge concern for the jail they're supposed to have. on paper, around 500 workers. they have less than 400. so something they have to address going forward. we're live in san francisco. ryan curry, abc seven news. thank you. ryan >> governor newsom is weighing in on the protests that brought traffic to a standstill monday morning while in the bay area yesterday, the governor says he supports the right to protest but does not support the approach. >> i don't think that's helpful, and i don't think that's responsible. i think there are better ways of protesting. so no , i hope we don't see it again. and i do think people need to be held to account for their actions. >> alameda county da pamela price will be making the call on charges for people arrested on 8-80 in oakland. meanwhile,

protesters who shut down the golden gate bridge are not being charged with a crime. but that could change soon. district attorney brooke jenkins says her office just needs more time. abc seven news reporter tim johns was outside the jail when some of those detained were released. free, free, free palestine protests outside the san francisco county jail tuesday. >> dozens gathering to demand the release of the 26 people who were arrested the day before for shutting down the golden gate bridge as part of a wider pro-palestinian protest. those 26 people arrested by the california highway patrol and booked into custody on multiple charges, including felony conspiracy. these unprecedented the uh- that this felony charges are being made. earlier in the day, san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins announcing that her office wouldn't be charging those protesters by a tuesday afternoon deadline, saying her team needs more time and help from witnesses who were stuck on the bridge, stressing, however, that this is an open and active investigation and that charges are indeed coming.

>> we support those who want to make sure that their first amendment rights are observed and that their point of views are heard, but where we must draw the line is when acts of free speech endanger public safety. >> following jenkins announcement, some of those detained were slowly released from jail, some in the group becoming hostile when we attempted to film them. >> don't. don't feel, my friend. >> we have been protesting and not obstructing traffic ways. we have been writing to them. we've been changing the way that we vote the best that we can, and we're still not being listened to. >> monday's incident was the second time protesters have shut down major bay area bridges and freeways in recent months, and some, like southern california assemblywoman kate sanchez, want to see protesters held accountable. we talked to a spokesperson from her office tuesday. >> they're blocking not only people just trying to get to work and trying to make ends meet. they're blocking people, trying to get to the hospital. they're blocking people trying to pick up their kids from

school. sanchez has introduced a bill in the state legislature that would double the minimum fine for protesters who intentionally obstruct the flow of traffic in any way that prevents the passage of emergency vehicles, a proposal her office says has gotten great public support and one she's determined to see through following monday's protest. honestly, they want us to do more, and we feel that we want to do more to we want to make sure that these people are punished to the fullest extent of the law. >> in san francisco, tim johns, abc seven news. >> we are waiting to hear back from google this morning after a pro-palestinian protest at their headquarters, police arrested five people at the sunnyvale office yesterday. google employees protested by holding a sit in yesterday and live streaming it. police say most protesters left mid-day before the five remaining were arrested for trespassing. the employees are looking to stop google's cloud. google cloud's $1 billion. ai contract with the israeli government named project nimbus last week. time reported that google's work on project

nimbus involves providing direct services to the israeli, to the israeli, i should say, defense forces. >> so i would not like to lose my job. but i think it is impossible for me to continue coming into work every week without acknowledging and loudly condemning. project nimbus and any support for the israeli government. >> employees also claim palestinian, arab and muslim googlers have been censored. developing news on the war in the middle east. abc news has learned that us officials expect a limited response from israel after that missile attack by iran over the weekend. a man is at the live desk with that. >> yeah, reggie. according to a senior u.s. official, israel's response is not expected within the next 48 hours. israel is currently facing international pressure to de-escalate the conflict. israel's war cabinet met for a fifth time. it reviewed military and diplomatic options in order to decide on the country's response. iran launched the attack on israel in retaliation to an israeli airstrike in syria that killed

welcome sight for the thousands of people who watched that game in thrive city. now, this game could be the last time we see klay thompson, steph curry and draymond green play together. thompson and green may not be returning to the dubs next season. fans, we spoke with say they are thankful for the run but disappointed in that loss. >> you know, in any game you hit your peak and then you go down the other side of the mountain and i think the warriors have hit their peak and i think they're on the down side. >> they did something so special together that we just have to be thankful that we got something. >> oh my goodness, don't speak that over them. i know this sounds like we're at a funeral, isn't it? i rebuke that well, today we're going to hear from some of the warriors players, and hopefully they sound a little more upbeat about the future. >> i hope so. >> in a press conference following the loss last night, curry said he could never see himself. not with those guys.

boeing 787 dreamliner to be grounded by regulators over aircraft quality concerns. several safety incidents on boeing jets is putting the company in the spotlight, and amanda's at the live desk with more on this. >> amanda kumasi today, a congressional hearing brings boeing safety and quality concerns back into the public eye. a senate committee will hear from a whistleblower and a panel of experts who call for significant improvements at the aircraft manufacturer. the whistleblower, engineer sam salarpur, claims the 787 dreamliner wide body jets are not properly put together and could eventually break apart over time. he wants the faa to immediately ground these jets. boeing is calling salarpur claims inaccurate. the company says in part the issue raised the issues raised, i should say, have been subject to rigorous engineering examination under faa oversight. this analysis has validated that these issues do not present any safety concerns. salarpur has not provided any

documented evidence. boeing is now encouraging employees to speak up about quality concerns ahead of today's hearing. the company says. reports to an internal tip line about aircraft quality are up about 500% this year. back to you at the desk, reggie. >> thanks so much, amanda. tomorrow is the anniversary of the 1906 earthquake in san francisco, and the mayor is taking a major step in its 3030 year plan for improving seismic safety. she issued an executive director directive instructing city departments to identify concrete buildings that may be vulnerable in major earthquakes. experts say these at risk buildings are not easily identified from the street, so a screening process is needed to identify them and prioritize those that need to be retrofitted. >> the city is also a step closer to installing 33 speed cameras. yesterday, the municipal transportation agency board of directors unanimously approved the locations for these cameras. they're expected to be installed as soon as next year. the cameras are part of a

statewide pilot program that will ticket drivers who exceed the speed limit by at least 11 miles an hour. >> bart is giving cash refunds to those who turn in their paper blue and white tickets. it now requires riders to use clipper cards for access into bart stations. however, according to our media partners at sf standard, if you still have any of those old paper bart tickets, you can turn them in for cash. the tickets must have $1 or more on them to receive a refund. there's no deadline to turn in these tickets. you can get a refund form online or at a bart station. a new musical soon to be playing in san francisco has the best possible credentials. it won the pulitzer prize even before it got to broadway, and it won the tony once it opened. it's called a strange loop. it's based on a frustrated writer working as a lion king usher, writing a musical about being a lion king, usher and i had the chance to talk with the creator about his circle of strife and jesus

headlines call for summer-like conditions today. today is the warmest day of the week, but the weekend is still looking fantastic. lots of sunshine. we get a dry weekend and temperatures will be mild. the extended outlook the next seven, eight, nine days. we keep this dry pattern and the mild conditions with us. so take a look at your weather wellness today. the air quality is good. tree pollen remains high. your uv index is at a six that is high six out of an 11. looking at your beach, boating and surf forecast. winds will be out of west northwest 5 to 10mph. waves between 4 to 5ft today with that swell period about 10s and your ocean water temperature between about 53 and 55 degrees, depending on which beach you're at. along our coast today, looking at the morning drive, we will find just a blend of sun and clouds. temperatures are pretty mild this morning. we're in the 50s in most areas, and it's one of those mornings where we will warm pretty fast as we head through the next couple of hours. so a light jacket right now, the afternoon temperatures into the 70s and into the 80s.

named barney. he's a disaster rescue canine with the fire department. yesterday, firefighters put on this first of its kind training demonstration. search dogs will be deployed, sometimes by helicopter, to remote locations to look for victims after a disaster. fire crews say despite all the tech they have, the search canine is the best way to locate people trapped in collapsed structures. >> he can search far and wide really fast, much faster than we're capable of doing. and so he's able to clear this entire area, you know, within minutes. and then let me know where we need to give our attention to. >> barney is one of four rescue disaster search canines at the fire department. firefighters say it takes a year or two to fully train these rescue dogs. >> getting the gears moving on. san francisco's downtown revitalization still ahead, a restaurant making its return with a view like no other and a

beginning the morning in the 50s, so it feels a little bit warmer compared to yesterday. a light jackets about all you need and you can ditch that probably closer to 9 a.m. this morning as temperatures are pretty quick to warm as we head throughout our wednesday. looking at your sky conditions throughout the day, it's a mix of sun and clouds. we'll find those temperatures already into the 70s and a lot of cities by lunchtime into the afternoon. 4 p.m. it's warm for april, cities about ten degrees above average. feeling quite nice along the coast in the 60s around the bay shoreline will have a lot of 70s, and our warmest cities inland will be going into the low 80s. a close look at highs around the region 75 in oakland will hit 70 in the city today, 81 in san jose, 77 in napa. the same in palo alto. concord. up to a warm 79 degrees kumasi. >> thank you. drew. seven of 12 jurors are seated and former president donald trump's hush money case. abc news reporter perry russom has details about those already chosen and who has

dismissed. >> so far, seven jurors have been seated. three are women, including a teacher, a software employee at disney, abc's parent company and an oncology nurse who said, i didn't know i was walking into this for jurors or men, including the four person who was born in ireland and works in sales to our attorneys. and there's an it consultant originally from puerto rico who called trump for donating and mysterious, adding he walks into a room and he sets people off one way or another. lawyers have been questioning the jury pool, looking at their social media for potential bias. one man was asked about a 2017 facebook post where he wrote, get him out and lock him up. that man was dismissed from the case. trump is accused of falsifying business records to hide a payment he made to former fixer michael cohen to pay off adult film actress stormy daniels to keep her quiet about a long denied affair. prosecutors say trump falsified documents to hide that information from voters in the 2016 election. trump has pleaded not guilty.

>> i was paying a lawyer and marked it down as a legal expense. some accountant i didn't know marked it down as a legal expense. that's exactly what it was. and you get indicted over that while trump is in court, president biden is on the campaign trail. >> he will be in pittsburgh today to meet with steelworkers. biden has said he would not be watching trump's trial. instead, he says he will be talking about the issues perry, russom, abc news, washington. >> happening today, the hawaii attorney general is expected to release the first phase of an extensive report on the august wildfire fires on maui, a massive the live dust tracking that reggie aqui. >> we are working to learn more about what exactly happened during the deadly maui wildfires back in august. the state's attorney general is set to release that information later on this afternoon. the report is expected to address the 72 hours before, during and after the fire. the maui fire department yesterday released its own report about what happened. the

western fire chiefs association was hired to make its own third party after action report. it highlights at least 17 areas for improvement along with recommendations including the fire department needing more equipment after dealing with poorly stocked fire engines, all backup firefighting vehicles needing to be kept ready to go, and there should be a statewide mutual aid program and an evacuation plan for residents and tourists who speak different languages. maui county officials say the fire department has already started addressing these challenge areas. the cause for the wildfire is still unclear and is still under investigation by the atf. back to you at the desk, kumasi. >> thank you. amanda. the san francisco sheriff says deploying the national guard to county jails is not the answer to deal with the staffing shortage and increased attacks, it's coming as one of the jails is set to open today and another is still on lockdown as more violence is erupting. abc seven news reporter ryan curry live at the jail on seventh and bryant

seven. >> new overnight, the happiest place on earth looks like it's going to get bigger. the anaheim city council voted to expand the disneyland. amanda is tracking that from the live desk. >> reggie aqui, citing developments for fans of disney. the disneyland forward project is a multi-billion dollar plan to expand disneyland with land the company already owns. the agreement between disneyland and the city of anaheim was unanimously passed last night by the city council. the expansion plan will allow for development of new attractions, shops and restaurants with land under utilized by disneyland. the company plans to invest about $1.9 billion toward the project. the city's mayor says it will bring more opportunity to anaheim that this project will bring a benefit to our community, not just in the near future, but in decades to come. >> the success of disneyland forward provides a really important way for us to build affordable housing for us to invest in making our parks in every single district better. it
