considering the agency's policies. the totality of the circumstances, and the officer's stated rationale. district attorney price declined to confirm whether new evidence was brought in to review, and made clear she was walled off as she described from the case. >> i will not be participating and have not participated in the ultimate decision about the case, and i'm very proud that my public accountability unit, which i created in january of 2023, has been able to independently assess the evidence and come to a decision about this case. >> investigators concluding, based off a second autopsy, that gonzalez died of asphyxiation. while the initial report years ago pointed to toxic effects of methamphetamine and morbid obesity, among the causes of his death, will they get justice? >> no. justice. is mario coming home. >> kat brooks is the executive director of the anti police terror project, and believes the officers should be facing heavier charges. >> it's really hard to get a cop charged, let alone convicted, in

11:06 pm
about. >> last month, when abc seven news visited san quentin for a tour of the prison, we learned more about the effort to reform death row inmates. one prison official says this program has been around for about two years, and so far it's working. >> we have several, programs here that have a 0% recidivism rate. as far as the guys that are, transferring out, one of the reasons why condemned inmates can't stay at san quentin is because it does not have an electrified fence. >> the goal is to move all of them out of the prison by july, a measure that would toughen penalties for shoplifting and drug dealing is one step closer to being put to voters. >> it's called the homelessness, drug addiction and theft reduction act. supporters were in san francisco today to announce they've gathered 900,000 signatures. more than enough to get it on the november ballot. the measure would enact changes to proposition 47, which made some nine nonviolent property crimes and drug possession offenses. misdemeanors instead of felonies

>> lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> looks beautiful. all right, break out the bikes and keep the car at home for the return of this season's inaugural viva cal san jose. the event returns to san jose on sunday with an earth day edition. some six miles of the city will be closed to cars so people can bike, skate or just go on a stroll. san jose was able to keep the tradition going despite fears last year of cuts because of budget constraints. >> and on saturday, a tribute to the queen of tejano music, selena, in the form of a lowrider cruise, the family friendly event will run through san francisco's mission district from cesar chavez and 24th street starts at 4 p.m. again on saturday. selena was one of the most celebrated mexican american entertainers of the last century , but killed in 1995 by the president of her fan club. she was only 23 years old, but her legacy and impact continues. >> yeah, she was so influential.
11:20 pm
hopefully the weather is going to hold for that because you don't want to get those cars wet with the top down. >> yeah, they look pretty nice. >> abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is here. sandhya. >> yeah, i think the weather will cooperate. dan and ama for the cruising. and also go for the earth day festivities this weekend. let me show you the travel hazard for the morning. areas of fog, death. it's in patches, so definitely watch out. there will be reduced visibility. you'll want to turn on your low beams and drive slowly. that fog will be around until late morning. so this is something you will need to watch out for. maybe allow that extra time for the commute as you look there, there is sutro tower. this was from earlier this evening. the marine layer rapidly deepening. our natural ac is back. this is from mount tam and here are our tower camera views. you can pretty much see the fog in all of our views here. temperatures are dropping off today. it was a cooler day for some parts of the bay area, and that's what we're seeing right now. five degrees cooler in oakland, san jose, six
11:21 pm
degrees cooler. that marine layer deepening rapidly to 6400ft, which allows it to move over some of the coastal hills and then get into some of the bay side communities, 50s and 60s. right now we have fog. we have mist around half moon bay, and the visibility is down to five miles. petaluma reporting fog, two and a half mile visibility. so you know where i'm going with this. give yourself that extra time. here's a look at what's happening. there's a trough that is developing and it is ushering in a cooler air mass in the form of onshore winds overnight tonight, areas of fog and patchy drizzle. you can see that fog from sutro tower tomorrow. breezy and cooler afternoon. and the weekend forecast is dry and a little bit warmer. so first thing in the morning you start out with the drizzle. you start out with the gray skies 5 to 630 in the morning. and then as we head towards the afternoon, the fog just hangs around like you would expect to see in the summertime near the beaches. but for the rest of you, you're going to see plenty of sun for your friday afternoon morning temperatures, 40s and 50s. once
11:22 pm
again, you will need a few more minutes to get to where you need to go, because there will be some damp roadways and pockets of low visibility 50 to 70 on your temperatures. still pretty pleasant weather. and if you are going to the giants game tomorrow night, first pitch 715. it's going to be mostly sunny, 57 degrees as they host the d-backs. ninth inning partly cloudy and breezy, dropping off to the mid 50s. so a good idea to take that extra layer of the accuweather seven day forecast. morning fog, cooler afternoon over the weekend. we're going to go with milder weather like today where we had the low 80s. inland areas will be in the low 80s, 50s, 60s coast side, so that spring warmth carries over into a new workweek and then look at those temperatures drop off. yeah, it's going to turn much cooler. and by thursday we may be talking about some rain. stay tuned ama

good evening. the warriors have a unique challenge. the team is getting older and simultaneously more expensive. not a great recipe for success. so how do you shake it up within the confines of the remnants of the dynasty? keeping the big three together as a start. and if you listen to, well, everybody that's talked about it so far,
11:30 pm
they believe keeping unrestricted free agent klay thompson is the key. >> well, considering they've won four before, i would say it's well within the realm of reasonability. and i think we have enough good players in our system. we have enough assets to acquire good players and we have the ability to keep getting better. so given that, as long as those guys are still really good, like, yeah, we can, i think we can contend and compete. >> you know, the discussion of those three is, to me, is a much easier discussion when they're still good, which they are. they all showed that this year. so maybe in a couple of years we'll be having this discussion where, you know, they're not as effective. and maybe it becomes more of a ceremonial thing. i do think there's tremendous value in the three of them being warriors for life. it matters that kobe was a laker for life, that that's meaningful to the laker franchise. i think it would be incredible if these three guys could play their whole careers here. that's meaningful matters to our fans. it matters to our franchise. so i hope it happens. but

fortunately right now they're they're all still good. >> big nl west showdown. d-backs giants got to bring your a game ball dude. come on. good thing logan webb brought his a game seven scoreless. only allowed two hits. randal grichuk ketel marte and corbin carroll you'll all get nothing and like it. five k's for webb on the night in the eighth. san francisco native kyle nelson enters the game in a tough spot with the bases loaded. mike yastrzemski with a clutch two run single. the giants win it five nothing season finale for team teal, taking on the flames first time in nhl history. two bay area born goalies squared off between the pipes final seconds of the season fabian zetterlund scores. he's also completed an ironman season, playing in all 82 games, but the sharks lose to the flames five one and the oakland ballers $1.6 million investment into historic raymond park are chugging along. the new field will be available for community use when the team isn't playing. my baller sources tell me the
