time. his car hit one of the officers, one of the suspects and ended up crashing into a bus stop. the suspect hit by the car has major injuries tonight. one of the officers on foot was hurt too, but not badly. a second suspect was arrested near the scene. the crime scene stretches for miles. those streets were closed throughout the night but they have reopened. another scary afternoon for drivers on a contra costa county highway. gunfire rings out and the target of that gunshot says heluy to b. thom, this is a familiar scener driver says he has no idea who was shooting at him. >> reporter: you might remember just two years ago a man was shot and killed as he traveled eastbound here on highway just

where three people were shot just south of me and one of them was killed. the driver today tells me he was targeted going westbound from the exit. he asked that we only use his first name and not show his face as he shows us where he was hit by a bullet. he says two men in a silver mercedes started following him on highway 4 after he got into a beef argument with them outside a nearby store. >> he was driving onhanded with a gun. i could see the gun aimed at me the shot. >> reporter: in heavy afternoon traffic, jasper says his only escape was to speed up the shoulder and straight to the chp station in martinez.

turning now to decision 2020, today was the last day of the democratic national committee summer meeting in san francisco and it brought a vote that many were waiting for. there will not be a presidential nominee debate solely on the climate crisis. activists and some members of the dnc have been pushing for a climate only debate. but today delegates voted against the idea. some people walked out of the ballroom at of leadership. >> i want the democrats to win and i want them to help solvede >> we want to make sure climate is in all of the pa are more than a dozen issues that the american people care about and there are 12 debates. >> some say this underscores the need for party unity moving

toward 2020. a huge crowd marched to protest the g7 summit in france. about 15,000 protesters marched across the fresh/spanish border. they're demanding more action against climate change. president trump insisted that a session on the global economy be added. while summit host, french president emanuel macron, wanted to focus on other issues. tomorrow morning che with china. investigators say a man turning onto santa teresa boulevard was hit. before they build a mega campus in san jose, google says it wants to build a solid foundation with the community. so the tech giant held a town hall meeting this afternoon near the s.a.p. center. the company representatives

a man posing as a delivery driver was arrested for buglarizing a home in novato. this picture is of the suspect sitting on the ground in handcuffs. happened just before 1:00 yes afternoon. police were tipped off by a resident's home surveillance video when the system captured the man inside their house. a brentwood man was taken into custody with more than 10,000 of stolen property. an alameda man who survived the holocaust is fighting to save his home of 17 years.

>> reporter: this 87-year-old has been through hell and back. he survive the holocaust, the recent loss of his wife and son. now he could lose his son, a two bedroom apartment in alameda he's rented for he got his a re $700 a month. then he got an eviction notice. >> this place can be used by somebody to traumatize us. eviction without a cause under this condition is like a death sentence. >> reporter: his neighbors rallied to show their support for him and others like him who depend on rent subsidies to survive. advocates say there are loopholes and few protections for vulnerable tenants. >> i don't think anyone should be treated like this. you should be able to stay in your home as long as you're a good ten tanantenant.

>> reporter: nbc bay area reached the landlord by phone but said she was told by her lawyers not to speak with reporters. our investigative unit has been doing stories about these no-cause evictions especially in the east bay. next month the city will take up proposals to close loopholes. naa bitter divorce reaches from earth all the way to the international space station. summer warden says her estranged wife improperly accessed her bank account earlier this year and it allegedly happened while she was on the international space station. >> usa financial did give evidence to my attorneys that she did access my bank account.

highs close to san jose. towd the tri valley a concord, numbers to wrap weekend. low 80s south of oakland. 70s to mid 80s around palo alto. san francisco downtown, start to see some numbers into the 70s even with that sea breeze still ongoing. the north bay, highs in the 80s to low 90s. the reason temperatures are going to climb will be high pressure strengthening monday into tuesday. but humidity is going to be on the increase. we're watching tropical storm ivo, which is weakening, but the remnant moisture with it is going to make a run to the north. starting monday into tuesday, increasing humidity especially into tuesday. we're not only going to have hot temperatures. we're going to have increasing humidity. it's going to feel fairly uncomfortable outside as those
