shotwell. >> reporter: in this video you can see a woman on the sidewalk with another woman on top of her and another one watching. the woman wearing the black top stands up and kicks the other woman. >> i heard screaming, yelling, loud yelling. i got up and i looked out the window and i saw three girls fighting. >> reporter: she has said there have been threats to neighbors after son had a protest over changes they've seen in their neighborhood. some residents have been complaining for months over what they say is an increase in nighttime traffic after a street was closed down. in a

conversation with the woman who is being attacked, she said she was taking a nap in her van when women looked into her window to fix her makeup. when she confronted them, she said they pounced on her. she said a man then began to harass her. police did arrest a 24-year-old woman charged with aggravated assault. for neighbors this is part of an overall problem. >> they -- we have absolutely no concern. >> we have a central mission neighborhood association and we spent a lot of time organizing. what we hear is we don't have enough staff, and this is not a priority. format not every resident is concerned.

this man is a resident that has lived here. >> it will never change. >> this is a nice street. >> reporter: several of his neighbors have had enough. they are filing a lawsuit against the city over a lack of enforcement. there is a $10,000 reward to help solve a deadly stabbing in east palo alto. happened on february 8. two men were attacked just before 8:30 p.m. whoever was in the white suv may have seen this stabbing. investigators want to hear from any witnesses. a nonprofit is putting up $10,000 to >> leads. the other victim survived. a man was killed in a san

jose crosswalk and may have been crossing against the light. the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating. officers say evidence indicates that the man walked right out into traffic. police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. a part of highway 1 is pretty much gone. it was washed away during the storm on saturday. a full closure is now in place north of the bixby bridge. there are one-way traffic convoys to let vehicles pass through, but it might be canceled with rain coming in later this week. 1600 people were trapped when that road crumbled. highway 1 has been closed for more than a year. if you have spring break plans

in the area, you're asked to stay away. another flight for united had to be diverted. the plane was taking off from frankfurt germany. one of the bathrooms began to overflow into the main cabin. we are told that the 777 circled over the north sea and then returned to germany. passengers were provided hotels and rebooked the next day. this is the latest in a series of incidents including the jet that lost a wheel at sfo last week. the faa is increasing oversight on united. today the florida supreme court issued new rulings to allow voters to decide whether to protect abortion rights and whether to legalize recreational marijuana. those decisions reject the

attorney general's attempt to keep them off to about. the court upheld the ban on abortions after 15 weeks, paving the way for a ban after six weeks. planned parenthood and others have filed a lawsuit challenging that. voters will decide whether to let companies that grown some medical marijuana to sell to adults over 21 for any reason. it would also put possession for personal use and make it legal. fast food workers are getting an increase in pay. state law requires them to pay $20 an hour. franchise owners say that paychecks is not all that will go up. many restaurants say that will have to raise prices to pay for that hike. some restaurants mantha laying off workers.

one franchise owner said it is more than his company can handle. but this piece of legislation is so damaging to the future viability of our business. i am considering selling or closing locations. >> most customers say they are glad that fast food workers are earning more and said they are willing to pay a little extra to make up for that. still make a new solution to a long-running problem. the city and school district will take applications for a housing complex to provide affordable homes to public school employees. this is the first of its kind development and a lottery begins tomorrow. any of the 10,000 public school employees can apply to live in this complex. is set to open this fall in the city's outer

sunset neighborhood. the mayor tweeted her support for this saying, public schools are stronger when educators can look to the community that they serve. this project will create that opportunity. this is part of our work to make san francisco a place where working people can afford to live. the back-and-forth continues between oakland and the a's. the city is ready to offer them a five-year extension to stay at the coliseum. the multi-year deal comes with a $97 million price tag. it would keep them in oakland until the las vegas stadium will be ready in 2028. the a's can opt out after three years, but they would still have to pay the full amount. the city is asking for them to sell the 50% ownership in the coliseum complex and calling

for major league baseball to create a path for oakland to get a future expansion team, help facilitate the sale to a local ownership group, or allow the city to keep the name and the colors. >> even with them selecting one of these, i think the terms are irrelevant. i think sacramento could happen and i don't think they will take any of the terms. they could offer them to play for free and i think they still want out of oakland. >> they are also looking at other locations to bridge the gap. that includes sacramento and salt lake city. so while all this plays out, here's the update from las vegas. the tropicana hotel is shutting down to make room for the new ballpark. this will be the site of that

ballpark. tonight is the last night for this landmark. the gaming floor will close at 3:00 a.m. tomorrow. and the last guests will leave at noon. the city of millbrae is pushing back against a plan to purchase a hotel and make it housing. the plan was to convert this into housing for the homeless, but millbrae is suing to stop that sale. a saline county did not follow the correct procedures to purchase the motel and today city leaders gathered outside to voice concerns. they said they are worried about safety and how this project could affect the community.>> if the county had done their due diligence, then they would have known this is not the right location. and they would've found other properties that are vacant

unlike this successful hotel that was recently remodeled and is recovering from covid. >> a hearing is set for wednesday. the diocese of sacramento has filed for bankruptcy. they face more than 250 lawsuits claiming sexual abuse by clergy and staff. they said the reorganization process will allow the diocese to sort their finances and distribute money to survivors. critics are concerned that it will limit transparency. but the diocese said they will create a page on the website with court filings and documentation. our investigative unit has spent the last four years unraveling child abuse

dramatic video showing a rescue in marin county that happened last night. the sonoma sheriff helicopter was called in. the person was about 60 feet down from the trail and clinging to a rock. the victim was flown to the top of the cliff. no word on how seriously that person was hurt. stomach a reminder from police after potential deadly package was dropped off. police say a man walked into the lobby to turn in hand

grenades that were stored in his garage. what he did not know is that they were live. police called in the bomb squad to destroy them. if you find any potentially dangerous explosives, do not move them or touch them. does call the police immediately. oakland airport said it is time to change the name. they want to rebrand and be cold san francisco bay oakland international airport. this is prompting a lot of criticism. format we asked passengers at sfo what they think about oakland internationals proposed name change. but it would be confusing. aurora and at oakland international, similar concerns. but it might be confusing.

we are not in san francisco. >> reporter: everybody that we talked to express concerns that said if they use san francisco, people would be confused. but it is not just passengers. managers at sfo are objecting citing consumer confusion. they say that they realize it is a marketing effort to get more business, but that sfo has had this name since 1927. >> we think this is something that ultimately customers see as a disservice. four oakland international sent a written statement saying, it is located in the san francisco bay at travelers know of its convenience and reliability.

and restaurant in sentences goes closed after a fire started in a kitchen vent. it happened on fillmore street. the fire started and was quickly put out, but not before significant smoke damage. no word on when the restaurant will be open. welcome to the sellers market. prices are making it tough for potential home buyers to make it. california association of realtors said the median price for a home is now $1.8 million.

that is an increase of 20% in one year. in san francisco it is 1.6 billion and a jump over the last year. realtors say prices are high enough to convince many hesitant homeowners to sell.>> it is very much a sellers market with very high demand and multiple offers on the properties. >> realtors say the majority of buyers are looking to pay for their down payments with stock options, and that might explain who is doing the purchasing. kaiser is opening a state- of-the-art lab in the bay area to test for genetic diseases. it will expand diagnostic testing capabilities for them for more than 4 million members.

scarf season is ending, but one woman is not done quite yet. >> she taught herself how to crochet a few years ago, and then she said she looked at the guinness book of world records for the longest scarf and she decided she wants to beat that. the record is 834 feet and 8 inches. she gathered volunteers or an official measuring over one hour ago. >> i would do a little bit every day. i've been averaging a little over two feet a day.
