being told state farm policies will not be renewed, we now have a better understanding of which communities will be hit harder. >> orinda, more than 1700 state farm policies will not be reviewed. jody hernandez spoke with homeowners -- >> reporter: the 4500 square foot redwood home he has called home for half a century. >> been here for seven years. >> reporter: he fears state farm may drop his homeowners coverage. the larger home insurance says it is not renewing 37 -- 30,000 policies in california and we now know homeowners in orinda will bear the brunt. 1700 policies will be dropped in the city, more than any other zip code in the state. >> stuff i worry about in the middle of the night. and when i wake up, i still am

worried. >> they are not being a good neighbor. >> the mayor calls in a crisis, she has state farm insurance and wrote a letter to the governor, the state insurance commissioner, and lawmakers asking them to take action she says has impacted residents who are having a tough time to find affordable insurance elsewhere. >> what people are turning to the fair plan, some are seeing price increases of $9000 and $10,000 per year without the same level of coverage. >> reporter: we reached out to state farm which says this decision was not made lightly and only after careful analysis of state farm general's financial health which continues to be impacted by inflation, catastrophe exposure, reinsurance costs, and limitations of working with the decades-old insurance regulations. earlier this year, state farm and its parent company reported

policies canceled in your neighborhood on nbcbayarea.com. another south bay city is looking to save people money on uber and lyft by rolling out his own version, sunnyvale will have it for a fraction of the cost. they want to greet the on program for -- one-way fares are $3.50, with discounts for seniors, students, and those with disabilities. the city council has applied for state and federal funds to cover the cost and how it is implemented depends on what kind of funding they receive. cruise is getting a second chance to put his cars on the road, not in california but in phoenix. there is a catch, the cars are on the street today but only with human drivers.

the relaunch is after the company ceased operations in october following a san francisco accident that dragged the woman 20 feet. after that incident, the dmv in california pulled the operating permit. in arizona, they will not operate as taxis but used to create maps and gather rote information across phoenix. they say this is the next step in the goal to resume driverless operations but did not give a timeline for doing so. boeing is showing that the company is producing the fewest airplanes in nearly 4 years. in the wake of multiple instances facing boeing airplanes in january, a doorway blew out midair on alaska airlines flight and an engine cover blew off another 737 airplane during takeoff. the faa has been investigating the production lines in boeing and has stopped the company from making more 737 airplanes for now.

boeing says it has slowed down production to improve quality control. several airplanes -- airlines, i should say, like southwest and alaska are saying it is impacting business. new numbers that say crime in san francisco is significantly down according to new data from the governor's office. overall, property crime is down 32% and violent crime is down 14%. the chp launched an operation last may to address crime in the tenderloin. the report says they seized more than 42,000 pounds of fentanyl and recovered 50 crime linked guns as part of the operation. more than 6000 citations were issued and nearly 500 arrests were made. california spending billions of dollars to address homelessness but a new state audit found that much of the money is not being tracked or evaluated.

nobody is certain if it did good. it focused on san diego and san jose. emma goss shows us how the mayor of san jose is responding to the findings. >> reporter: california is a gated desert when it comes to its response to homelessness. that is according to a state audit requested by a state senator and published to date. if found we spent billions but not clear what we got. >> outcomes that those dollars would achieve are not readily found by the auditor. >> reporter: the mayor of san jose agrees, -- >> do we need more transparency and more accountability, absolutely, that we should not be tackling this city by city, we should have a top-down, statewide framework for how we

will measure the efficacy of the dollars we are using. >> reporter: he pushed back that san jose interim housing program is not effective and says the audit presenting misleading numbers by conflating shelters and interim housing units. >> the interim units, give people their own room with a door that locks, that keeps 70% of people off the streets up to three years later. >> reporter: the audit highlights a need for san jose and other cities to invest more in permanent housing which cost more than other solutions like tiny homes. >> people at this camp and any large-cap backup that 40% of the people are back on the streets from tiny homes. >> reporter: she is advocating for more permanent housing and has been for years. >> people want a home and not a place to stay. reported she wants a statewide blueprint to get the full

picture of for every dollar is spent on the issue and where it is going. a new ruling on abortion is met with anger and outrage in arizona. arizona's supreme court ruled on old, near total ban on abortion is enforceable. the ruling struck down a recent 15 week abortion ban meaning the state will revert back to a near-total abortion ban from 1864. critics say the law would not allow for an abortion in the case of incest or rape, the ruling is on hold for 14 days, abortion rights advocates say they will fight this at the ballot box. >> today is our worst nightmare. right? i think that, even after today, if we don't get protection for abortion, enshrined in our constitution, that leaves the question open to anti-extremist

a growing number of people are falling or fake or deceptive job postings and it is compromising personal information. >> a gerty platform surveyed 1000 job board users and said three in 10 have fallen for a

fake posting. we look at how to avoid those fake listings. >> reporter: this camp is, a crooked creek a counterfeit website that copies a real company and they post job openings, people apply and hand over personal information which the crooks use to steal identities. a lot of people are taking the bait, costing them millions. five telltale signs a job posting is a trap. we showed the scammers wearing hoodies and sunglasses but that is not how you spot them your first clue is the address bar, the address is often off by one letter, they are proposing as acme, they may use acmee, clue two, a recruiter tells you to purchase a new phone or laptop from them before you start the job. >> be cautious about purchasing in equipment. >> you are probably giving a fraudster for money. clue three, you only talk to

the recruiter. real jobs will require multiple interviews. the video or in person. clue number four, a recruiter will not rush you the recruiter is a ghost, if a basic web search turns up nothing about your recruiter, likely you are dealing with a scammer who was trying to steal your identity. was a you? despite all the warnings, plenty of people look directly at the eclipse yesterday without the special glasses . even staring at the sun for a second or two could have caused lasting eye damage as one key indicator is a purpose-green spot in revision. medical experts say watch out for other signs like headaches and blurred vision. more of these signs may not occur immediately and could take a few days to develop. we kept saying, get the

new allegations against actor alec baldwin leading up to the deadly shooting on the set of his movie called rust. with the acting, he was the lead producer and a gun he was holding during filming fired a live round killing cinematographer halyna hutchins

the news at 6:00 starts right now. librarians do not like to be allowed but a large group made noise outside the main library in san francisco calling him city to provide more security after a troubling jump in unruly and potentially dangerous visitors to the library. >> reporter: city librarians joined by fellow members of the seiu service workers union demonstrated outside the main san francisco library to try to negotiate a new contract but not about pay, they want more security guards as city libraries. >> everybody's welcome, homeless, black, white, but we want to make sure that it is a safe place.

>> reporter: librarians who work at branches which do not have a dedicated guard on site offered examples of things getting out of hand. jessica said she and her colleagues intervened when a man was yelling at other people at the branch. >> we were hoping he would leave peacefully. before anything happened. he did end up leaving and he kicked a window on his way out. >> reporter: nicole had to handle a disturbed man with a weapon. >> he wielded the weapon at preschoolers sitting on the ground with their teachers. >> reporter: they called for guards at all branches to help handle these issues at the main branch, library guards were patrolling the outside and checking on people who seemed passed out on the curb. library staff and guards to call the sheriff's deputies for more serious situations and today they responded to a medical incident. a statement from a
