australia. a weekend day of shopping quickly turning into horror with a man with a knife started stabbing innocent victims. >> let's get the latest from nbc news and josh lederman. >> reporter: it broke out at 3:0 p.m. in the busy shopping district. the video is difficult to watch. the police say the man entered the mall and stabbed nine people and killing six with several hospitalized in serious or critical condition. video from inside the mall shows the man approaching shopper whose fled for their lives and witnesses barricading and screaming for help. a single police officer nearby responded. >> as she continued to walk

quickly behind him to catch up with him, he turned and faced her and raised a knife. that person is now deceased. >> reporter: police say they believe this was a 40-year-old man who acted alone. they have not established a motive, they say there are early reasons to believe this was not terrorism. prime minister anthony is praising the people who jumped into action to help. laura, these incidents are rare in australia where they don't have the same level of mass killings like the u.s. how the community is reeling, guys. >> josh, thank you. this morning, the united states is repositioning military force notice middle east to prepare for an expected iranian attack on israel. president biden warning iran not to strike, but saying an attack is likely sooner rather than later. we have allie raffa traveling

from family members. deadly moments in texas. >> crashing the vehicle. >> reporter: after officials say this stolen tractor-trailer plowed into the public safety building tearing through the brick wall. >> there is entrapment in the building. >> reporter: six people rushed to the hospital. one died and two are in critical condition. >> we need multiple ambulances. >> reporter: the suspect, clenard parker, is in custody. >> parker did come to the brenham office at 3:00 p.m. where he was denied his commercial driver's license. >> reporter: the crash occurred on friday afternoon after the truck was stolen. >> intentional act. >> reporter: investigators say it appears the crash was deliberate. >> law enforcement were behind

this 18 wheeler. it was reported stolen. when they saw the vehicle, stolen 18 wheeler, it took a hard right turn and went into the brenham office. >> suspect was backing the vehicle up and with the intent of going into it again. our fire chief mentioned if he had veered a bit to the left the second time, there would have been a collapse of that building. >> reporter: parker's cousin told kxas he was a loner. >> we were totally surprised by the situation. it is out of character. we never would have thought he would do something like that. >> reporter: the investigation remains on ongoing with the texas rangers taking the lead. the suspect this morning remains in custody facing felony charges. laura. >> priscilla thompson in texas for us. thank you. in two days from now, former president trump will be the

let's check in. >> good morning. oh, boy, it is another wet weekend around the bay area. we're pretty used to this. it puts a pause on our plans as usual. we can see right there on satellite and radar the rotation with this storm. it's actually bringing the heaviest of rain that we can expect throughout the weekend right now and over the next couple of hours throughout the morning. some of the heavier returns right now being picked up through the east bay and the south bay. so, the dublin interchange as you approach livermore, come down fremont and into millpidis, that's heavy. the peninsula, coming down into the south bay along 101 or 280 with heavier returns and some mountain snow actually being picked up near the mountains of santa cruz and down through scotts valley. it's just a really messy morning with rain and snow and it will get even gustier with the winds as we go through the afternoon. through the central bay also getting some pretty decent returns and up to the north bay, some more of those mountain snow areas through the napa mountains. we go and take a look through

we are back now with "your health." stories that caught our attention. >> nbc news contributor dr. azar is here with us. >> we appreciate you being here. help us. we want to talk about prostate cancer in light of what we learned about o.j. simpson. we don't know it is prostate cancer that took his life before it circulated in february after that was what he was diagnosed with. we know he had cancer. what is the warning that most americans should take from the experience? >> i think most people when they hear prostate cancer don't associate it as pancreatic and ovarian. we know there is a 75% survival rate with prostate cancer.

with no kids. >> we will have that coming up. w want to get to the headlines. this tragic scene in australia. six people stabbed to death inside the busy shopping mall in broad daylight. the man, who police say is responsible, shot dead by an officer. josh lederman has been watching this for us in london. josh, what is the latest? >> reporter: good morning, peter. this is a really terrifying event that started around 3:00 p.m. australia time in the busy shopping district. a warning, some of the video is difficult to watch. video from inside the mall shows the man with a knife in hand approaching terrified shoppers who fled for their lives. police say the man stabbed nine people and killing at least six with several victims hospitalized in serious or critical condition, including an infant. witnesses described barricading themselves inside shops and screaming for help while responders performed cpr on the

victims. a single police officer responded nearby. the police commissioner described the moment that officer confronted the stabber. >> as she continued to walk quickly behind him to catch up with him, he turned and faced her and raised the knife. that person is now deceased after she fired the round. >> reporter: the police say they believe this was a 40-year-old man who acted alone. they don't know the motive, but they believe this is not terrorism. the prime minister anthony is praising the police officers and bystanders who jumped in to help. peter, these incidents are exceedingly rare in australia. mass killings don't happen with the frequency like they do in the u.s. australia is reeling which has shaken the country. >> josh lederman, thank you. back here at home.

we are turning to what police are calling an itentional act after a man stole an 18 wheeler and rammed it in the office building in texas. one person was killed and several others injured. we have priscilla thompson with more. good morning. >> reporter: laura, good morning. this morning, one person has died and two others are hospitalized in critical condition. more than a dozen people injured in all after that 18 wheeler plowed into the texas department of public safety building on friday afternoon. police have identified the suspect as clenard parker. he stole that 18 wheeler and that police and law enforcement officials were behind that truck whenever it veered into the building and tearing down the entire brick wall. investigators say this was an intentional act. they say it happened after parker had been inside the building on thursday and he was denied renewal of the commercial

driver's license. this morning, we are hearing from family members of parker who say he was a loner, but never expected he would do anything like this. the investigation here continues today as parker is in custody facing multiple felony charges. laura. >> priscilla, thank you. some other headlines this morning. los angeles star shohei ohtani's interpreter is in court this morning. he appeared in front of a federal judge agreeing to go through gambling addiction treatment. he eploited his relationship with ohtani to steal millions to payoff gambling debts. the matriarch for the coppola family, eleanor has died
