whipple. i don't know about injuries, but i do know that there are six vehicles reportedly involved in this blocking two lanes. and two of those vehicles reportedly have some sort of fire, or at least smoking from the engine compartment. so that is going down south of the san mateo bridge that may cause more folks to go across the san mateo bridge if they were heading down toward the dumbo. so keep that in mind for folks on the san mateo bridge. no disturbance shown to either of those just yet, but again, south 880 at whipple is where this crash is blocking your two left lanes. as you're heading south through the area, we'll continue to track the progress as chp arrives. the south bay not really slow at all. we do have a couple of incidents clearing from walnut creek and pleasanton with pleasant hill without any issues, but the bill for highway four, highway 37 and of course the bay bridge as the metering lights active. back to you. thanks, mike. one recent commencement speech by a kansas city super bowl champion is causing some serious backlash online. this generation, and this time in our society, must stop pretending that the things we see around us are normal.

it's going to be a beautiful sunny day, gradually warming up into the upper 60s at noon and headed for the low 70s for today. enjoy it. we'll see if this lasts into the weekend in our full microclimate forecast. coming up and just got an update. this may be a significant issue. all lanes are currently blocked as fire crews have arrived on scene at that crash. we just talked about heading south in toward hayward and union city. we'll track this impact on the nimitz. you see the big backup already. we'll see how long that lasts. i'll get an update. i hope by the time we have the next report. well, the nfl now responding to some controversial comments made by an nfl player during a recent commencement speech, kansas city chiefs kicker harrison butker actually outraged some of his conservative thoughts on women, not to mention birth control and pride. now, here's a slice of what he had to say at the graduation at benedictine college. i think it is you, the women who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. how

many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but i would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. now, he also called pride month. quote a deadly sin sort of pride and blasted birth control as well as fertility treatments. now, in a statement to nbc to the nfl says that bucker, quote gave a speech in his personal capacity. his views are not those of the nfl. as an organization, the nfl is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger. it is quarter to six right now, the head of american intelligence warns she's already seeing russian disinformation about our upcoming presidential election. scott mcgrew, we've been talking about this. no surprise they're actually getting some help from ai. absolutely right. i mean, it makes it easier. several social

networks have spotted new efforts by foreign actors as well, pretending to be like a state republican party or black lives matter, or just regular americans. and of course, they're not national intelligence director avril haines spoke with senators yesterday, briefing them on new threats. the idea, she says, is to continue to sow distrust in american institutions. you don't have to fool everybody all the time. you just have to cast enough doubt. and ai helps the bad guys do that. for example, innovations in i have enabled foreign influence actors to produce seemingly authentic and tailored messaging more efficiently at greater scale and with content adapted for different languages and cultures. former president trump and president biden have agreed to two debates well ahead of the presidential election, the first on cnn late next month. trump, eager to depict biden as an old man, though trump is just four years younger. but he'll do it
5:47 am
without the live audience that energizes him on a network he says is unfair to him. the biden camp, meanwhile, very pleased that this debate is far earlier in the election cycle than previous campaigns. the biden campaign has said part of the reason they think they're behind in the polls is because some americans don't really believe trump and biden will be the actual candidates. donald trump will be back in court today at his first criminal trial. we expect a little more cross-examination of former trump attorney michael cohen, and then the prosecution will rest. and it's the defense's turn. president biden on wednesday met with the joint chiefs and combatant commanders at the white house to discuss threats out there in the world, and there are quite a few the white house monitoring the situation in slovakia and the political fallout of that attempted assassination. south africa is going to ask the international court of justice today to stop israel's attack on rafah, saying too many civilians are at risk. the us is also

popular animated satire called mulligan is back for part two on netflix. dat dat dat da da da de da de da de da da dat dat. all right. so look, if you saw part one, you already know mulligan is about earth being destroyed by an alien attack and ragtag band of survivors starting society over from scratch. well, you know, part two is going to test all the allegiances they have when they learn that they are not the last people on earth. and when they come in contact, this is where the cruise ship filled with people from florida. so the series creators say they actually came up with that idea after watching the disaster film san andreas and thinking how survivors would actually rebuild. let them try to figure out all the questions from the biggest, like, what should we do society differently to the very, very smallest? like, are we going to continue to perform the musical annie, when half of the cast is dead?
5:50 am
right? it's if 30 rock wasn't putting on a variety show, it were rebuilding society from scratch on every level. well, among the stars voicing the characters, tina fey, dana carvey, and chrissy teigen, this is something to check out. they're all created by i. it next. that might be part of that might be part of the next story line. everything. all right? well, we can just enjoy, relax. and also take in this beautiful weather that we've had. we are getting a look live in san francisco with the low clouds and the fog that we are seeing. very typical of this time of year, where we don't see a lot of sunshine in the city and it also keeps those temperatures down. so we are in the mid 50s, the start, and it's going to climb very slowly for today. we're only headed for the low 60s here and we'll see the temperatures spreading out really heating up for the inland valleys. while we will keep that cool weather for the peninsula
5:51 am
to the coastline in mountain view, expect a high of 77 there, as well as 77 in fremont. one of the warmer spots will be livermore, up to 80 degrees, and we're seeing some mid to upper 80s as you make your way farther inland as well as farther north. but overall, the bay area is going to have a really comfortable day with the breezy wind and cool weather near the coastline. as you're checking out that 7-day forecast at the bottom of the screen as we take it, day by day, the weather is pretty much staying the same. so let's get outside and santa cruz will be in the upper 50s. throughout the weekend, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds here, and for some of the days it may take a while before we actually see some sunshine. and then looking at sonoma valley, where it clears up a lot sooner, we are going to see temperatures warming up into the mid 70s, but our morning starting out in the mid 40s and overall once again a very nice weekend all around the bay area. our inland areas will reach into the upper 70s. will be in the mid 70s for the start
5:52 am
of next week and also seeing a mix of sun and clouds. san francisco at times that may, gray continues. so we're going to see 60s here throughout the next several days and mike, you heard about those southbound lanes being blocked in hayward. heard all southbound lanes were blocked. they just reopened the far right lane. so one lane now open for our blocked by this crash. we talked about six vehicles involved. two might be on fire and fire crews are there. that's why they initially closed all these lanes. 880 is jammed from 92 all the way down past whipple to about alvarado-niles. you do have an alternate. you can use hesperia, and there are other surface streets. and if you join on anywhere south of alvarado-niles , you're okay heading south down in toward fremont. so this is an issue. you can bail out of the traffic if you're heading to the peninsula. instead of going to the dumbarton bridge, you can go to the san mateo bridge. it looks like some folks already have. look at this. we have early slowing on the high rise as folks head over to foster city. i do believe they're getting out of the traffic.
5:53 am
there's a build coming off the castro valley y as well. and notice this the dumbarton bridge shows a little more slowing. and that might be because folks heard about the crash. they know where it is. they just don't know it's on the southbound side. so they're trying to get over to the peninsula as well. we'll watch for the shift and the ripple back to you. all right. looking for the ripple of the water. redwood city is hosting boat lovers all weekend as the west point harbor welcomes back the pacific sail and powerboat show today in the bay's kris sanchez joining us live from redwood city this morning with what's new in boating, chris. well, if you ever were wondering about the boating life, this is your weekend. to find out what it's all about. there are all kinds of boats here, just not the kind that i used to drive professionally in college. no pontoons, but everything else. and we have jeb band here. who is the show manager? thank you so much for waking up early. welcome, chris. glad to have you. all right, so this one, this boat right here behind you, this is the kind of the marquee that we're looking at. it is indeed. it's a 47 foot princess.
