>> houses 56 degrees. when i got up this morning. so this very cold. >> our top story at 6.30, a neighborhood on the east bay in the dark tonight after a huge tree fell on power lines and the east bay hills kron four's philippe gaulle was in kensington and shows us the damage.

>> levees yard reflects the strength of the storms taking a toll on the east bay hills, heavy rain and strong winds up through the large monterey pine tree that until tuesday stood tall in front of berlet. he's home in kensington fences outs. >> 2 other trees the limbs on that tree pine came down at around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, crushing relating spence and knocking power lines down on both sides of sunset drive the winds. yes, and it was like hailing right at the moment to contra costa county. public works and pg and e responded. the power lines would be energized, leaving 88 homes without power through wednesday afternoon, the house was 56 degrees. when i got up this morning. so this very cold, chris ford lives nearby and is considering a motel for the night concerned that power will not restored by 11, 30 at night. >> as the utility company

>> the storm caused some road closures in san francisco last night. while people can see signs apparently self-driving cars cannot pictures. so 2 autonomous vehicles did not detect the road. closure tapes and drove through the yellow tape on the closed street and then they got tangled up in some downed muni wires. this happened at the intersection of leavenworth and clay. those cars. company crews tweeted yesterday saying that they sent crews to remove the cars after the incident happened. >> all right. now for another look at the 4 zone forecast. we're looking live at san francisco look closely up in the upper left. look pretty. that's exciting rainbow. we can just see it there. but that's pretty there's a lot of cold right now. we all need a pot of gold. we all deserve it, right? we have earned it. that's the yeah. so today i feel like it was a lot better. but i woke up in half moon some lady was telling us trying to get to work and that was really gusty winds. another lady didn't have power. so she checked in the

hotel to work. just the tone of why we need that rain. but we're all exhausted, right? yes, we are. all right. let's talk about the radar. what you do need to do because we're still not out of woods. you can see right here as we take a look at radar was just looking at storm damage as well to set up that own half moon bay. we had trees knocking down the roadways earlier this morning. also in campbell couple trees down to causing some issues with wind damage. radar still showing pretty active to livermore area as we make our way into t e sacramento tracy triangle area. but right now we still ave a sprinkle or 2. it started in downtown san francisco. it is now making its way to the east bay. it's nothing too crazy compared to what's happening at the south. you can see it's still busy have been showing this probably for. >> 30 minutes. 45 minutes is going to morgan hill. we still more than a quarter inch of rain is going to be near 101, making way up to san jose. so it could be tricky on your way into work or your way home from work, maybe. and then you can see that line just really going from the bay making its way right here to the patterson area, tracy triangle. so traffic going to be slow on 5 for sure. futurecast was this is a

concern right now. it's not too breezy, however, as we roll into tomorrow, those winds are going to pick up too. so if we have trees are dead, trees may be the last storm didn't knock it down. but all the winds that we had a consistent winds could cause issues with the additional winds to the north 30 miles per hour. could cause more trees to be knocked over power lines out. so that's going to be concern for us. high temperatures tomorrow. going to be a lot like today. so you can see santa rosa 58. the coast will stay in the 50's. so those fissures are going to be little bit warmer. but really it's going to be those breezy conditions that we're going to and then we'll have some dry conditions. that's the good news. but if you look at the corner of your screen, more rain is headed our way on tuesday. we'll break down those numbers throughout the evening for you. brittany, thanks very much. a part or all residents in monterey county, they could return to homes as soon as friday. they can at least get a chance to check. the damage began cleaning up. >> remember, the entire community was evacuated march 10th when the roe river levee breached some parts of the

continued their strike. we demand respect and for us, respect starts with a livable. with making a livable wage, our schools are understaffed. >> we need more people. >> the three-day strike comes after more than a year of negotiations with the los angeles unified school district. more than 30,000 custodians cafeteria workers, teachers assistance, bus drivers want more pay and they also want more health care and benefits another 30,000 teachers are striking alongside them in a show of support. >> those that have these important responsibilities should not have to live in poverty. we couldn't teach without them. we understand that the average salary for an seiu employee is about 24 25,000 a year. that's quite a bit lower than the poverty line. >> there is a current offer on the table. service workers say it's not good enough. they want a 30% pay hike and more

ron desantis is expanding his controversial law to ban schools from teaching lessons on orientation. >> and gender identity. the current law bans the teaching in elementary schools from kindergarten to 3rd grade. but the revised version would expand that to high school. the only exception is when the lesson is required by existing state standards on ed and students have the option to opt out. the state board of education is set to vote on the proposal next month. >> the jack daniel's whiskey. people are arguing with a company that makes a dog toy over trademark infringement and this dispute want all the way to the supreme court
