altogether spoken like a true traveler. all right. time now 802. >> happening today, a rally will be held line outside of colonial donuts in oakland as community leaders are pretty frustrated with the increase in commercial burglaries. those rally are calling for city leaders to address the crisis saying there is an increase in on these among residents and local businesses. they also want more transparency, more dialogue between city officials and business owners.

the rally going to be a lakeshore avenue 10. 45 this morning? meantime, you have the opens. they are saying that the business district across the city, they're seeing a dip in crimes, dipping robberies, burglaries, and car thefts. that doesn't really mean that business owners are actually relieved, though. first of all, has that story. >> the mayor interim assistant and deputy police chief credit a task force focusing on retail theft for the downward trend in commercial crimes. but they say there is an uptick in overnight burglaries in the city. you're about to see one of them. the latest cases in this story and how police plan to crack down on these types of crimes. oakland police are asking the public's help to identify the driver of this suv crashing into the lululemon store on 20th and broadway. >> this happened during the overnight hours sometime this week. you can see the driver then going inside the store and running off with merchandise. the level of destruction that occurred to his business just as person to go in and take a few a pair of pants. it's just absolutely

ridiculous. interim assistant police chief tony jones, as from restaurants to coffee shops, the city of oakland is seeing an increase of commercial burglaries overnight at a joint press conference thursday with oakland mayor sheng thao opd shared some of the strategies to protect businesses at all will have a uniformed police officers we >> move some people from our team, our specialized undercover team to assist with this project to drive around covertly, looking for people. casing businesses are trying to break into businesses. oakland is aggressively pursuing a three-pronged community safety strategy. >> the first prong is investing and robust and accountable. police department. problem 2 is strengthening. oakland's violence prevention initiatives and the 3rd prong is leveraging technology to modernize our investigations and to disrupt criminal network. the police department rolled out a commercial burglary task force in november after a rise in late

night burglaries. deputy police chief james beer says the progress so far when we look at the crime stats. >> comparing this year to last year, it's a big decrease of about 50% november to december. 20th. we've had 120. she's obviously too much compared to last year. at the same time period, we had 256. >> and just this week, opd also started a joint operation with patrols and cease-fire. and it's already netted 2 arrests of individuals committing. >> burglaries in the downtown area were and firearms recovered on the follow-up search warrants. sure. those investigations. >> and the oakland police department plans to continue. the strategy is well into the new year reporting in the newsroom. gayle ong kron, 4 news. we have developing news. we're learning new information about deadly stabbing. this happened thursday morning at a home in pacifica. it was breaking news that we told you that forced an elementary school in pacifica to go under lockdown. >> police say the man that they wanted well, he was connected to a crime killed

themself in mendocino county. they thought he was in pacifica. turns out they found him in mendocino county. he is identified as jason guillen water. he was a paramedic with coma. fire department a call for 10th or with that story. >> the delmar neighborhood of rattled by a double stabbing. police say 46 year-old jason guillen water killed a man and injured a woman at a home on naomi avenue thursday morning and then drove off. investigators first respond to the scene after reports of a domestic violence incident. the stabbings in the search for guillen water temperature really forced a lockdown at a nearby elementary school. parents telling us they were frightened for their kids, especially scary because my son was riding his bike to school by himself. you know, in the morning, investigators say on december 14th, guillen water was arrested at this same residents and another case of domestic violence. >> at the time he was ordered to stay away from the home and was stripped of any guns he as

police were searching for dylan water thursday. chp located his car in ukiah. guillen water was then found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. the investigation revealed guillen water acquired the gun in colusa county after the stabbings. pacifica police say they're still trying to learn more about a motive. the police chief releasing a statement saying we are deeply saddened by this tragedy and keeping the family members and pacifica community close in our hearts as they cope with this profound loss. we're still working to learn more information about the relationship between guillen water and the victims. the woman who was injured was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown reporting in pacifica, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> happening now, san pablo police. they are looking for these 2 women and they have been missing since september 6th. they apparently got into a family fight and then left san pablo. they believe they might have traveled.

>> to southern california you can clearly see their pictures right there. if you know anything about it. of course, you're urged to call the san pablo police department. >> some 0, 8, and in the east police now identifying the pizza delivery driver who was killed while he was just sitting in his car outside his home. police say 24 year-old gabriel stewart was shot while he was taking a break from delivering pizzas from domino's and around 5 o'clock wednesday night, a quiet neighborhood on lane right across the street from village parkway elementary school. >> this is a very sad for us to have to investigate but we're we're going to our best to figure this one out. >> the shooter or possible motive. >> redwood city police arrest man for allegedly stealing from a car wash. police responded to the report at self-serve car wash on woodside road early wednesday morning. police say a masked person was in the equipment room of the business and tried iding on the roof of the car wash to escape police

all right. and we're back this morning for the problem morning news that britney begley, you've been really getting us through the yeah. talk about whether week we're grateful not to have rain, but we've got to do with the fog and the mist bag, right? we rain, sunshine and then i know. let's get to those clear skies, shall we all? i think that's going to the christmas gift. yeah, we're going appreciate away war. >> again, take a look at the east bay. you can see right here, foggy conditions waiting for the fog to clear it actually an hour ago, i showed you this. it was beautiful blue. you can see the fog definitely changing the game. we're still watching radar. good for us is that it's nice and quiet for the most part, despite the clouds but to the north of us and to the south of us that low pressure system is bringing us colder conditions in the morning. but really it's about the rain up top in the rain up bottom. just bringing us all this moisture, which is why we're dealing with the fog and gusty conditions. so up to the north, we're looking at wind gusts up to 24 miles per hour, half moon bay. we're at 20

miles per hour as well. so we'll continue to see gusty conditions today on top of foggy conditions. so places like napa down south san jose mountain view. you're looking at foggy conditions, at least until not the 9 o'clock hour and around 10 o'clock. everything will slowly start to clear. so we have a couple more hours to get through that. so why we have that cloud deck. it's going to keep those temperatures little bit colder, especially up to the north. you're probably feeling it like napa. santa rosa were close to 10 degrees difference. but once fog clears out, that sun comes up, we are going to see warmer temperatures. santa rosa, 66 san francisco, 61 half moon bay. 66 san jose. 66 often inland. we're looking at 66. so again, we're going to be the 60's and mid 60's for the entire region. but the story for us really will be used go to bed tonight. we have more cloudy conditions. 38 degrees for santa rosa, half moon bay. 44 san jose, 41 and livermore. we're looking at just above freezing for the northern parts of the map and right

there to the inland areas. big picture again showing thankfully sunday night into monday, partly cloudy, but dry, upper 50's for you at the next chance for rain is on wednesday. traffic and weather might take a look at your screen bay bridge, 80 mesa, fremont street 9 minutes this morning. plus, dense fog, different story. san mateo, we're looking at 80 to 101, at 12 minutes this morning tolls to 101. wow. looking better than we showed it to about a half an hour ago. still dealing with fog. but finally clearing for you 8 minutes and golden gate bridge. 37 to the tolls were at 21 minutes this morning. >> in the east bay, want to give you a warning. if you are shopping in particularly alameda because they are fearful that when you go shopping, there are people watching you and could be following you to rob you. they've seen an increase and grand thefts and robberies. now, police say if you suspect you're being followed, you need to take the steps first off, just changed directions that they follow your every move they could be following you for for real. and that's

why you can't be doing that. just do a lot of quick moves left and right. and if you feel unsafe will head to the police department, whatever you do do not go home, you don't want to reveal your home, of course, because that's your safe place. drive around even a drive to the police department. if you can't get near to a police department called 9-1-1. and while you think you're being followed will try to take down the suspects appearance and then when you get a chance reported to the police department. on the peninsula, the palo alto city council is proposing the removal of restaurant parklets along university avenue to get more street parking back. but restaurant owners and workers in the area. they are not happy with the idea. they say their restaurants depend on those parklets up to 50% of the revenue. a lot of people choose eat outside, dine outside than inside. and that's a great attraction for them. it looks very european. the city. well, it's been looking into trying to make

bigger, wider sidewalks in the area and we remove the park. let's as part of that process. but now city staffers, well, they're said to be considering ways to renovate the sidewalks while keeping the parklets. >> well, time 18 in las vegas. metro police released body camera video of the response to that deadly shooting on the university of nevada, las vegas. >> campus there during that rampage. 3 professors were killed. david charns has a closer look. >> sure are one of the taken our metro police body camera video shows officers racing to a mass shooting unlv. shot being fired parking as this officer rushes to home. unlv campus police officer had just shot and killed the gunman control. we got one down in front of the hall that we have another one in the inside the building still has 67 year-old tony polluters. body lay out in the open obscured in this video we received with the

every room yes, correct. that was david charns reporting. now the 3 victims killed in that shooting. they were professors. >> colleagues say they were dedicated educators, passion for teaching. a visiting professor was also shot the face. irvine. now we're following developing news at uc davis where a student has tested positive for contagious tuberculosis or tv. yolo county health officials say that health officials are now in the process of trying to contract tracing to see who was exposed. the senate is a tv can be pretty severe, including a severe cough, the last weeks or longer chest pain, coughing up blood chills, and just overall physical weakness. now, what makes this case different is the fact that it's considered contagious tv. we're traditionally most people contract and active infection. that is not contagious. >> about 10% of people with be

an active infection at some point in their lives will convert to an active infection, but is contagious and they will have symptoms and they'll be infectious towards other people. and so what we want to do with this contact investigation is identify the individuals who have been in active infection get them treated so that they will not go on to have active infection and get sick and spread disease to other people. later in life. >> all right. well, the silver lining is that tv is curable. so the important part of health offi ials is tracking down any other people might have contracted it. health officials say the risk to the general public is colo. remember, this is on uc davis campus. >> in the east bay, a high concentration of harmful chemicals that are known to cause cancer were found at the site of a former business in richmond, the california department of toxic substance control says they sampled the soil of a former business on barrett avenue near 20st street. the agency says they

the details. >> it was a quick court appearance for shaquille a dominic thursday who was barely visible to the courtroom glass. her attorney with the contra costa county public defender's office requested that bail be lowered from $400,000 to $100,000. but the judge denied that request. the 32 year-old is charged in connection to this crash that happened around midnight sunday. dominic's 5 year-old daughter was killed in the crash when the car veered off highway 4 in martinez. police say an 11 year-old child was also in the car and had to be hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. we don't know what the relationship is between dominic and the 11 year-old according to the contra costa county da's office, dominic's blood, alcohol level at the time of the crash was between 0.1 6.1, 7. anytime anyone gets behind the wheel and they've had too much to drink and are impaired. >> whether it's alcohol or another substance that stage that's not only a danger to the public that danger occupants in the vehicle in yourself. >> dominic's next court appearance is scheduled for

december 29th reporting in martinez. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> well, in the north got 2 people that are now recovering from stab wounds to their hands after they were just trying to help a man in petaluma so that it was a night at a neighborhood near ely boulevard and free road. police say 2 victims. they were trying to help a man was unresponsive on a sidewalk. suddenly that man stood up and he started chasing people with a knife. and then the say he knocked another person unconscious after pushing them to the ground tried to advance towards them. well, the other try to stop him. they were cut on their hands during that incident. police say the man showed signs of being drunk. he was arrested booked into jail. >> starting tonight at 6, guess what? chp will be out in full force for the annual christmas day. maximum enforcement period. they will run christmas day during last year's holiday enforcement period. 26 people were killed in crashes and nearly half of vehicle occupants were killed. they were not wearing a seatbelt. 639 people were

arrested for duis. >> head to the airport. passengers flying out of the bay area where you have a new tool that could help you get through tsa a little bit faster than before bay area airports. there are accepting digital id's. anyone with the state address can download the dmv.gwallet app on their smartphone and follow the instructions to scan their license or id. this digital ideas accepted a nearly 30 year ports, including san jose sfo, lax and las vegas. you can also use the digital id to verify your age when making a purchase. but here's the caveat is not accepted by police state government agencies. so you do actually need to hang on to your actual driver's license. the digital licenses, part of a pilot program. so participation is quite limited at this time. but that is available to you. the cdc says the number of children reported with lead poisoning tied to tainted applesauce pouches. believe it

things. now the penalty resolves to violations. issue to the construction material producer, the first was for a public nuisance during a burning of asphalt or tar. second was her owners over 4 days back in june and july of 2021. a little sweet, to get rescued after getting stuck in a fence. one belvedere police officer who help with that rescue says last year he helped rescue a deer from the same location as you can see in the photos shared by the marin, humane, there's a little gap between the wall, the fence, where animals can take fun on the get stuck exactly what happened to his baby deer. they say that the fence is part of private property. now city officials are in talks with the owner trying to move that fence. all they don't know for how long the deal was stuck. officials say only suffered minor injuries. >> a new grant program is trying to tackle dangerous crashes with animals which u.s. officials say killed around 200 people every year.

the transportation department says it's giving 110 million dollars in grants to 19 wildlife crossing projects across the country. the right thing to do for conservation for habitats and wildlife. but it's also the right thing to do for drivers and and their kids. some of these projects how success rates upwards of 90% and reducing why like vehicle collision. so that's that's that's really amazing. >> this is just the first round of those grants. the program is set to give out more funding over the next few years. >> for even more project well for your health, holiday season and by the state with a lot of holiday cheer and joy. but for others, it's sad time. a lot of people, they are alone. they might have had loved ones, not at the dinner table and christmas during this time. so it's sad for a lot of people as well. and we had alex caprariello showing us how you can help yourself or somebody, you know. >> shopping parties, friends and family, all a part of the most wonderful time of the the music that we hear. >> the decorations, we everything we see on social

media suggests not just that were joyful. that but that were perfectly joyful, that everything is amazing when for many, it's not for some the stress of the holidays can be debilitating were lonely or depressed were anxious. we've through a really, really difficult time where we may have lost somebody this year may have lost a job. >> we may be estranged from family members, but one way or another. we've been through some difficulties that make it difficult for us to really enjoy and get into this time of year and unrealistic expectations. financial stress, unwanted house guest and the need to please can be triggers for the holiday blues. turning what's supposed to be an enjoyable time into anything. but yeah, the numbers are kind of staggering. >> about 75% of suffer some degree of holiday blues. a good 3rd of us. >> have pretty severe holiday blues where we really struggle

with especially the sadness and loneliness affiliated with this. that's it's really important to remember that you're not the only one suffering awful lot of people are. and doctors say it can take a toll on your health, causing tension in the form of headaches, excessive drinking over eating insomnia, even depression. but there are some things you can do to lessen the impact. remember, things don't have to be perfect trying to make them. so take the joy and spot-on 80 out of the holiday. also, it's ok to say no, sometimes. >> trying to attend every party can be stressful. so don't take care of yourself. eat well, sleep, pray or meditate. it may change your entire outlook and finally, don't keep it to yourself. talk to someone about how you feel a friend, family member or therapist might be able to help. a lot of us are really, really good at faking it appearing as if we are
