>> yeah. that rain was felt all over the bay area today and it's going to apparently keep rolling right on through the weekend. and it's a big weekend for some families easter, a gathering festivities planned. but as kron four's terisa stasio tells us the storms. i put a damper on those plans. >> it was a wet one on this friday. it's a break right now, but it is expected be a wet one throughout the entire weekend, although some people are not very happy because it is going to put a bit of a wrench in their plans. others say it's just fine. >> from canceled egg hunts to postpone softball games due to a soggy field. the rainy conditions throwing a wrench in some weekend plans. all right. a little bit. but we love it. we need it. it's no complaining allowed.

like a little sunshine about right now, right? well, we're going to get a little bit of that, too. but this weekend, yeah, it is going to be kind of a rough weekend weather wise as we got storm system that's just going roll right along the coastline. and because of that, we leave a chance of showers even in the easter sunday out there. right now. you've got the clouds moving in. more showers popping up around the bay area as we speak. but it's more widely scattered rainfall amounts over an inch in san and summer in almost an inch of rain. a pacifica almost an inch of rain as well. san francisco, almost a half an inch of act. temps, cisco now is above average for the entire year. and that's we're starting to see around much of the bay area exceptions. oakland, they're still running a little bit behind san jose. just adding that holds us all bonus weather for them. and showers still really rolling across the state southern california. they've had a ton of rain this year and they've got another round of rain coming our way right now. so the rain been moving through as we head toward the middle of the day in the afternoon, really kind of ramping up an hour and a more scattered showers. this the instability, part of the storm system that is begin to roll in. that means that unstable air moves through. there's a chance you could see some isolated

thunderstorms for while. there are some marine warnings out in the bay here, the monterey bay, santa cruz area watch out for some water spouts and that's what we could see pop up if some of these thunderstorms start to ramp up along the coastline, too. so this area of low pressure going to slowly work its way southward as we head through the night tonight and tomorrow, but not by much. and so that is going to wrap some of that moisture around that and bring it back up in the bay area. so the possibility of some thunderstorms more scattered tomorrow, but it's going start setting a little further south into north. they may be starting to a little bit of a break, but the centrat and the south bay going to be more active. they're the in the afternoon. you see right here on the forecast models. we take you through the night tonight. chance more thunderstorms rotating on through that low spins off the coastline. can these busy right on and off throughout the night into early tomorrow morning as a stronger so moves in around 4, 5 o'clock in the morning. and then it just kind of tapers off a little bit more showers head further south as we head noon tomorrow and continuing off and on across much of the bay as we head toward tomorrow afternoon. >> this is the parts off the

>> developing news out of sunnyvale tonight. police released this video from last saturday when officers responded to a mobile home park on vienna drive after getting a call about a man walking around half naked, carrying a knife. you can see the man identified as 19 year-old emanuel perez pisara police say officers followed him, ordered him to drop the knife. they soon learned he was actually the one who called police and was still on the line with 9-1-1, officers got out of their vehicle to convince him to try to drop to drop the knife. but as an officer approached, a shot is fired and viscera died. the 2 officers involved in the shooting are now on administrative leave. kron four's dan thorn is heading to that neighborhood right now to get reaction from neighbors will have his story coming up tonight. kron 4 news at 10 11. we'll take a look at this. a dash cam captures a road rage shooting on a freeway in hayward. >> you see the bullet shattering the passenger side

window of that vehicle. i happened on 8.80, near alvarado niles road wednesday afternoon. officers say the driver only suffered minor injuries from the shattered glass. the shooter was found and arrested. highway patrol investigating a shooting that happened in oakland this morning on the on ramp of eastbound 5.80, from macarthur boulevard and the off-ramp of eastbound 5.80, to seminary avenue. the chp says that the shooting was reported shortly after 9. nobody hurt the agency is looking for. the suspect was driving a white older honda civic. concord man has been convicted of tossing a pipe bomb at police last october. authorities say danielle garcia through several pipe bombs. >> leading san francisco police on a high-speed chase from the city to the east bay garcia was convicted of several counts, including detonating an explosive device with intent to injure. he faces up to 14 years in prison and is set to be sentenced next month. governor newsom

announcing a plan to install hundreds of cameras in the east bay to improve safety conditions. there. >> a kron four's philippe djegal reports tonight that the cameras will be placed in oakland and on freeways. >> oakland city councilmember dan kalb has been advocating for more surveillance cameras in neighborhoods bugged by crying and supports the governor's new plant. i've pushing for freeway on-ramps and along our business commercial, our commercial business corridors. those are some of the places that we need those cameras, but there are other places as well over the coming months. governor gavin newsom says 480 high-tech surveillance cameras will be installed in the east bay to combat crime and violence. 290 are slated for surface streets in the city of oakland and another 190 along state freeways in the area. >> the first cameras to hit the streets are expected to be online within the next 30 days. kalb says they will not only help solve crimes, they may prevent them to if they

feel that they can get caught because of the surveillance camera, then that would deter crime some of the crimes. absolutely. the governor's office says the california highway patrol has a contract with flock safety to install the network of cameras. >> and they are supposed to improve identifying vehicles and license plates associated with crimes. in a statement, oakland mayor sheng thao says, quote, this new camera network will help us stop crime and hold more suspects accountable. but not everyone supports the governor's plan. the anti police terror project says considering the city and state's large budget deficits, the money used for the cameras could be better served, tackling homelessness and helping people land living wage jobs, co-founder cat brooks also says in a statement, quote, the cameras are most likely to be deployed in low-income neighborhoods were largely black and brown. people will be impacted. oakland is supposed to be a sanctuary city yet. we don't

know who the data collected will be shared with. we should not be invading anybody's privacy. >> it's very important that all the cameras are installed on the public right away, not into people's living rooms. quite sure that is the case. the governor's office says the camera footage will not be disclosed to 3rd parties beyond state law enforcement. philippe djegal all kron. 4 news. >> soaring pg e bills are forcing the orinda theater to close 2 days a week last month the theater's owner said the pg e bills more than $6200. that's about $2000. more than usual. you're in theater opened in 1941. plays classic films and new releases on the big screen. sarge theater can seat up to 750 people and during chilly evenings, the heat is required to keep the audience comfortable. the owner says the enormous jump in the utility bills forcing them to close the curtains on mondays and tuesdays starting in april. >> obviously like to be open 7 days a week. but if you know, we can be opened and have lost

every day, you know, to today's out of the week, you know, you'd be, you know, pretty. pretty much in the last. >> the closures could be temporary. the owner says they'll re-evaluate in the future. the biden administration is just one step away from finalizing a rule to replace the student loan forgiveness program that was struck down by the supreme court. the program was designed to erase the debts of more than 40 million borrowers. our washington correspondent raquel martin has the story. the biden administratirn says it's inching closer to a second attempt to launch a widespread student loan forgiveness program. we're looking to move it this year. i'm looking being as aggressive as possible u.s. education secretary miguel cardona says the administration is moving ahead with a new plan. it would help borrowers not already covered by smaller existing forgiveness programs. we're going through a negotiated rulemaking process. >> which slower than the process that we took the first time. groups like the naacp

activities up there right now. you get that swirl in the atmosphere. beautiful looking storm just right off the coastline and it's slowly going to break its way further south as we head throughout the night tonight. but because of it, it is wrapping up this moisture back on shore and you can see the rain bands moving on shore right now. i'm on the peninsula now pushing the parts of the east bay, too. so that will be the case with the storm system is only slowly going to sag south overnight tonight. that means going to wrap more of that moisture around there. and that means a possibility of more thunderstorms popping up around the bay area. a long-range molly see kind of wrap through their sliding for the south southern california, going to get some rain then by the afternoon on sunday, again, a chance of some pop-up showers doesn't look like much by monday, the first day of april, we dry things out, stay dry. the middle of the week with some warmer temperatures than another slight chance of showers. i think late on thursday and into friday. so all that being said a little bit unsettled throughout the weekend specially tomorrow. not as much on sunday monday and tuesday, return to some sunshine and people like that. some of those temperatures moving up in the 70's.

>> and now kron 4 sports. >> everybody, i'm grant lotus and basketball is front and center today in the sports world. we like it that way with the sweet 16 for both the men and the women and a full slate of nba games, bay area who fans are in hog heaven today. second seeded stanford, the women here, they're up in portland. that is the home town of cameron break taking on nc state. the 3 seed. then the cardinal overcame an overtime scare last week against iowa state. so they hope to have a smoother time against the wolfpack tonight. and stanford had their inside outside offense in high gear against nc state working around had a job. she buries the 3. the cardinal led by one after a quarter and they kind pulled away a little bit in the 2nd quarter break. she's so good goes to work inside.
