the post-covid business climate isn't tough enough, imagine being burglarized on easter sunday and that's exactly what happened with small business in oakland this morning. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> we need that's the city that to take action and to prevent this from happening to us. this is not fair. this easter sunday. this is the sunday that we should all be spending time with our loved ones and enjoying this day, not having too, you know, cleanup last. look at this. that's exactly what oakland clothing designer taylor jay had to do easter morning after being notified or flagship store on broadway had been burglarized. >> it happened about 05:30am, in the morning after breaking the glass in the front door. security video shows a man coming inside the store and helping himself to a wide array of goods being a small business oakland and how tough things have already been for us. >> you know, small businesses general. it doesn't feel good.

it doesn't feel good at all. it's really devastating is really heartbreaking in it. it's very discouraging. >> jay says the burglar was in the store for 15 minutes and made off with ipad cell phones and thousands of dollars of clothing bags and accessories. he even took our own our suitcases impact our inventory and suitcases. in addition take removing items, it's a tough pill to swallow. taylor. jay has been in business for 10 years and takes pride in the fact her garments are not only designed in oakland but made in the city as well. and while this incident has are rethinking store security, she says she has no plans to leave. in fact, she hopes the incident will serve to rally the community. i think this is all of our businesses that your business is mind is my business is yours and we should be in and the right way. and we have to support one another to be here and we have to speak about it vocally. dan kerman kron, 4 news.

>> overnight site shows all across the east bay it dozens of people and one car was actually seen slamming into another one causing it to overturn. and these were multiple sideshows that were happening all across the bay area this weekend. oakland police say they're investigating one that actually ended with a hit and run crash according to police, the driver got into another car and drove away before the officers got there. this is around 8.30, last night on burma, road and no injuries have been reported. and the investigation in to this is ongoing. but that side shows the first of many that ramped up in east bay last night. just a few hours later at around 12, 40 fireworks shot off the air there by spectators gathering off of franklin canyon road. and john, your parkway, this is a hercules. >> yeah, a lot of people out there all cell phones out. this is near the franklin canyon golf course. video showing people lighting of fireworks and spinning out. need to find something better

to do with their time and in antioch around one 30 this morning, more people seen blocking the intersection of lone tree way and golf course road. yeah. another sideshow as spectators blowing off another round of fireworks. a lot of crazy activity out there. looks like a laser light show like some sort edm concert. cops eventually showed up. break up the crowds. unclear if anybody was arrested or cited at this sideshow. >> and then, yeah, you guessed 2.45? this morning, a sideshow broke out in oakland on 51st been telegraphed. >> somebody also climbing up onto a traffic light. there shooting a roman candle off into the sky. yeah, this is a lot of fun. officers arrived on scene. they say the cars eventually got out of there. again, it's unclear whether or not anybody was arrested or cited. we'll see if the cops ended up telling any of these cars. yeah, it doesn't look safe. does look like something people should be anyway. another setback for a storm battered section of highway one. a new landslide is

actually closed off that portton of the road between big sur and carmel by the sea and nearly one and a half mile portion of the southbound lane has crumbled. this happened yesterday just south of the rocky creek bridge, that real famous bridge that everybody likes to take pictures out. caltrans says that daily convoys will be leading a central travelers through the closed area from 8 in the morning until 4 o'clock in the afternoon. but this is that same area that's been struggling to recover from multiple landslides that triggered by this past. winter's storms. all right. with that, we want to talk a little bit more about the forecast. we're taking a look at the san mateo bridge tonight. looks like it's pretty dry out. there was a nice one for everybody trying to go to church to those easter egg hunts or just hang out at the park to get some sun. gayle ong joining us with a look at what we can expect to >> hello, much calmer conditions today with the exception of the eastern santa clara valley. and there was some pop-up thunderstorms earlier in the evening. so a similar situation that we saw yesterday and a big sur, definitely an area of concern over the weekend. a

precipitation rate during that time actually just under 2 inches of rain. so that is too much rain too fast and that area. a live look at san francisco. we just have some partly cloudy skies. we can expect some clearing as we move on into the evening and into the morning as well. here's that satellite loop. you can see those pop up. thunderstorms just east of san jose and the central valley just in the last few hours that activity has diminished as we're starting to cool down now, you look above the gulf of alaska. there's another storm brewing for the end of the week. but right now we're in the clear temperatures out the door in the low 50's upper 40's in napa. 54 degrees in san jose. we're about a one to 2 degrees cooler than we were this time yesterday. little warmer and half moon bay by 5 up. we are calm with the wind speeds but we will be breezy tomorrow as that front leaves us looking ahead. we have sunshine in the forecast. 70's tuesday, looking like one of the warmest days of the week and then we'll start to cool down gradually cool down starting wednesday. and then

we'll talk about some rain coming up in the long range forecast. dan. >> all right, bill, thanks. a lot a stabbing near a san francisco. whole foods sends one man to the hospital. the stabbing happened around 9 o'clock this morning outside the whole foods on ocean avenue in the city sunset district. this is video from the citizen app showing the police there outside the store when they arrived. police say a man was found with stab wounds and was bleeding. he was later taken to the hospital. he is expected to survive. officers arrested a man that they believe was connected to the attack. but the investigation is still ongoing. in the south bay, a hazmat team and a bomb squad were called in to investigate an odd odor after 3 people are taken to the hospital. crews responding to an apartment building in san jose on lee avenue right near 2.80, last night as that investigation forcing all residents to evacuate the building. investigators say they did find a did not find anything suspicious. but 3 people had to be taken to hospital, experiencing issues with

breathing. we're still not sure what caused those complications, but the all-clear was given and residents were allowed to return to the building around 1 o'clock this morning. berkeley police are investigating after burglars shooter, the person who interrupted their attempted theft. investigators say this happened early this morning around 3 near the campus of uc berkeley. according to police, one of the would-be burglars fired off several rounds of that person who was interrupting them. police say the shooter and at least one other person sped off in a dark colored car. fortunately, no one was injured. anyone with any information is being asked to call berkeley police. starting tomorrow. most fast food workers in california will be paid at least $20 an hour. democrats in the state legislature passed the law last year. the law was supported by the trade association representing fast food franchise owners. and the new law applies to restaurants, offering limited or no table service in our part of a national chain with

at least 60 locations nationwide restaurants operating inside of a grocery store are exempt the law. overseas at the vatican, pope francis presided over easter mass in saint peter's square this morning. about 30,000 people attended the gathering. pope looking healthy and appeared to be in good spirits despite battling respiratory issues. the pope is canceled. several events recently because of his health problems. and today's voice out in just a little bit hoarse at times. but he did not pause. pope francis delivered a heartfelt prayer for peace. made a strong appeal for a cease-fire in gaza, along with the prisoner swap between russia and ukraine. back here at home. some kids hunting for eggs in san francisco's bought a park. the easter festivities were hosted by glide church more than 100 kids and their families from the tenderloin district taking part crafts and games and we're also served a little bit of food as well. looks like the celebrations also held a delores park today, the sitter

charged for using public funds to build his own apartment inside a train station has pleaded not guilty. seth warden, a former employee of trans america services incorporated is accused of using taxpayer funds to build living quarters inside the millbrae train station san mateo county. prosecutors say warden conspired with joseph navarro, a former director for caltrain who also approved thousands of dollars and building expenses to turn in office. and it was small living space inside the burlingame to train station

county employees first discovered the converted space at the station in 2020. authorities say the transit agency was unaware the burlingame location until getting an anonymous tip back in 2022. in san francisco, protesters laid out a massive sine against u.s. aid to israel and bernal heights. this happened earlier today. the sinus sense been taken down. this all coming as israeli air strike on a tent camp killed 2 palestinians in central gaza today. it's believed to be a targeted attack. the strike hit a tent outside the hospital where thousands of displaced people have been sheltering. people were seen scrambling as you can see here as the explosion hit the ground. there's no comment so far from the israeli military. tens of thousands of displaced people have taken shelter in gaza's hospitals. however, israel has raided a number of them accusing hamas and other militants of operating inside medical facilities. now to baltimore where we're learning the names of 2 more victims in the bridge collapse. a family

of jose lopez. it carlos hernandez confirming they are missing and presumed dead. and tonight as crews work to remove pieces of the bridge concern is growing over the staggering cost to rebuild and how long it could take as thousands of jobs are set to be impacted and a busy port that typically sees millions of dollars of goods pass through. it's actually shut down news nation's latest see reports. >> demolition crews here face a dangerous task. right now they're focusing on the north side of the bridge. you can see it behind me. a massive gap left between this collapse to bridge and a massive boat. the dali, they're just stuck not moving. we know there's currently crew on board as well. we're told and a massive crane working to break up pieces of that bridge and remove it from the 50 foot deep water. >> buy sell on the 200 times. and know it's a gateway to wherever you want to go. captain lamar presley tells us

he sailed these waters for decades calling what happened. unprecedented. know it's it's won't be up for another with maybe 10 years. >> and so it just it is hard work. >> crews in baltimore working around the clock here. it's a 24 7 operation that requires extensive engineering analysis to make sure the work is done as safely and quickly as possible. several cranes out here working to pick up the rubble, including the chesapeake 1000 that's capable of lifting 1000 times, the recovery and rebuild could take years with cost. estimates ranging from 400 million to a billion dollars. newsnation spoke with the former transportation secretary senior adviser. she says the 1 billion dollar price tag could be just the tip of the financial iceberg. if you even retrofitting lifting a bridge that were not damaged, not collapse into water, that would cost about a billion dollars. so just to give a sense of the scope and

the scene of a deadly crash on saratoga avenue near the harker school campus into a t san jose. police say a man was struck and killed while he was walking the northbound lane of saratoga avenue is going to be closed for several hours while police are investigating this crash. the southbound lane is back open. police are searching for kansas city chiefs wide receiver rae she rice after a car connected to the super bowl champion was involved in a 6 car crash in dallas, texas. these are pictures courtesy of tmz sports police believe rice was the driver of a corvette yesterday. that was speeding along side. a lamborghini when both of those vehicles lost control causing a chain reaction collision. the people inside both of those cars then took off from the scene. authorities say 4 other drivers suffered minor injuries and investigators are working to id any suspects. we'll have more information on this as it develops. let's get you a look at your 4 zone forecast tonight. taking a live look from our mount tam cam. looks like some fog and

low clouds hanging around the bay area tonight get along. joining us with a look at the forecast again. >> much calmer than we were yesterday. that's for sure. with the exception of the south bay saw some some cells moved through earlier this evening. and that was coming from the central valley. but as i pull back, you can see we have some development coming from the gulf of alaska. that will be for the back end of the week. so we do have changes coming our way. low pressure is moving out. high pressure moving in and this will be taking over over the next few days. so monday, tuesday looks nice, sunny and warm. a little breezy, though. but here is that 4 zone forecast. san francisco, upper 60's low 60's along the coast along the beaches will be in the upper 50's low 60's. there on the peninsula. south san francisco, 67 degrees at 68 degrees in burlingame will be the daytime high. and as you make your way south, we're getting warmer in the 70's. and then santa clara county, san jose, one of the warmest spots in 73 degrees there. 72 in santa clara, 72 degrees in

morgan hill. and then over to the east bay. more 70's on the map and it over to the east bay shoreline, berkeley, oakland, leandro, low 70's to the north bay now wine country, low 70's as well. mid 70's as you make your way inland. 74 degrees in santa rosa and then maybe like 60's and upper 50's by the coast. but it's going to feel like spring after this week's at last week's weather. you can see sunny skies in the 70's tuesday. looks to be warmer in the upper 70's and then we're going to notice it changing towards wednesday. the back end of the week. more rain is in the forecast late next week. >> okay. all right. well, enjoy it while we can right now in terms of the sunshine. yeah. spring showers once again. bring showers once again. all right, thanks. a lot iraq. i got to say i really love the moment the death valley is in right now. these are flowers. they're actually sprouting out there. put on a show. a warmth, of course, is one of the factors behind a super bloom, which once in a decade, colorful

ntsb investigator arrived just before noon time and now their investigation is underway. >> just on the other side of these train tracks along glen shy or drive an olympic boulevard. is the area where the national transportation safety board is investigating the crash of a company dire tbm, 700 airplanes which went down around 6.30 last night. the truckee tahoe airports, facebook page shows this plane as being very similar to the tbm aircraft. richard manso, who lives about a block away, heard the plane just before it crashed into an air show and you hear them revved their engines down. you're like a big. >> i like it was basically like that. and then i just heard like a. >> he says the sounds were muffled by the snow coming down at the time. there was weather last we had a little bit of snow going that

visibility was bad. and when there's snow and clouds, you don't really hear things. >> you know, as as if everything is nice and clear, kind of surreal it in a sense why why planes going over my house like that at that time of night. a spokesman for the ntsb says their investigator will begin documentation of the wreckage and crash site. >> we saw workers in orange, vast looking in and around the site. the coroner says the bodies were still inside. couldn't move them until after the ntsb arrived on scene. they say their investigation involves 3 primary areas. the pilot, the aircraft and the operating environment. >> the investigator says she hopes she will soon have more information to share. the cause of the crash is being determined, but the plane went down as the pilot attempted to land at the truckee tahoe airport. neighbors say back in 1992, there was another fatal

crash in general area after plane had taken off from the airport. richard says this accident is especially tragic being that today is easter sunday. when many families are together. that's really sad that i mean, everything like that is really sad for sure. >> rowena shaddox. >> now to the east bay where a traffic stop leads to the arrest and the discovery of more firearms and suspected fentanyl. brett would special task force searched a residence? so a home on applewood common friend. would police say they found 4 guns in what's believed to be fentanyl. 2 residents were detained but not arrested. the case is going to be forwarded to the contra costa county, da's tip from a previous arrest. help them find these guns in las vegas. this is the final weekend for the tropicana hotel. it's going to close 2 days before 67th anniversary on the las vegas strip. now the location of the

famous hotel would likely be used for a major league baseball stadium and here's what the latest renditions of what the stadium could look like. currently, the a's are cited to move to las vegas, but according to espn, the city of oakland has just offered an extension to the team. the contract would be 5 more years in the east espn says the city of oakland, the a's well meet on tuesday. according to espn, oakland mayor sheng thao said that she committed to doing everything in her power to keep the a's in oakland. she said having major league baseball in oakland is what's best for the league. the players and most importantly, the fans. sports lounge in oakland is closing today was much in sports lounge last day of business. the bar service. foods food and drinks like all bars. they posted on instagram saying that they're closing in part because current social and economic situations on their

area. we did see some convection activity in the south bay, but that is starting to diminish as we're now cooling down. so here is the sierra also diminishing with the snowflakes there. let's take a look at the snow totals over the last 24 hours epof 4 to 14 inches at our ski resort. you could see some snow left over here, incline village in the north part of the lake. no watches or warnings heading out to the mountain. so that is a good time to head out, maybe a little slick. so just keep an eye out of caltrans is still out, plowing those roads in some areas. well above the snowpack average this time of year. so that's good for the long-term. back here in the bay area. we're starting to see some clear skies here in san francisco. that's a live look at the embarcadero. and here is the future cast model. you can see clear skies from now monday, tuesday and then wednesday, that's when you're going to notice a change in the weather. we're going to start to see a transition day here with the clouds rolling in setting up the stage for more rain here thursday into friday and even more sierra

snow. good news for those spree. banks breaks gears and here is a future wind gusts. you notice a pop. these numbers are going to jump from the teens, 20's and even 30's, especially in the mountains. and this is going to be tomorrow as that front is leaving us and then it was it will be diminishing towards the afternoon and evening. so breezy conditions, but it will be nice and pleasant. we'll be starting off the day in the upper 40's low 50's and we'll also be warming up once again to the 70's. so it's going to feel like spring after his wild weather. the we have this week with all that rain, 10 at 10 outlook. nice 70's for start of the week and then we have that unsettled weather once again next weekend. and then it jumps back into the 70's and we now back to you, gayle, thanks. a lot in the north bay expect some traffic delays throughout the month of april. >> parts of highway 37 are going to be closed between solano and sonoma counties during the weekends of april and parts starting on the 12th caltrans will be working on
