livermore. yesterday was a dense fog morning for the north bay will be watching closely for you at times nevado portions of 101 could see a little fog formation get i'll be keeping my eye on that. although at the moment not looking too bad up there. 40's to low 50's for current temperatures. petaluma sitting at 45 alameda hayward and san francisco at 51 currently while berkeley and oakland, you're sitting in the upper 40's later on today. we see our first taste of those 70's in a little while yesterday was upper 60's for most areas. so today will be feeling notably warmer getting even warmer into tomorrow, which i'll talk more about in your forecast as reena pension. not a lot going on out there just yet on the road. so let's just get a quick look at those bridges. pretty calm as you do. make your crossings on most areas. certainly if anything pops up, we'll let you know, but hoping for a nice, easy morning commutes right now. all right, john, thank you for that. more than 50 pro-palestinian protesters rallied at a fremont bart

station. >> before rally at the tesla factory, police responded and things turned confrontational. the protesters ripping down a gate and officers firing pepper jet moment was at that protest and brings us the story. >> and those pepper bullets not only hit the protesters, but they also a journalist as well, including us here kron 4 news, not before that confrontation with police officers. the protest was relatively peaceful and what demonstrators call a nationwide economic god is the chant heard around the bay area monday. protesters looking to make a statement blocking traffic. >> and some of the region's biggest names will not be complicit in genocide. and we not allow economy to proceed like normal. khalil gibran organized for the protest says they want to target tesla as the benefits from u.s. tax dollars which also go to fund the country's allies like israel, even if no one in charge. here is the message.

jim braude says they are here but we will come out in the numbers to make sure that we are her. what matters to them is their capitalism one of the pressing people here in the states and globally. the protest started at the warm springs bart station in fremont at this protesters who didn't give us their name. >> says they were prepared to >> but quickly, the group took to their cars, arrived at the entrance of the tesla factory. employees tried to block off the crowd with fences, but the increasing number of protesters took it down. they marched all the way to the main entrance of tesla's factory where they met with police. it was peaceful at first, but fired at protesters and some the more we protest, the more we show up we're going to get. and i just hope that people are ready to come together and stand up the protests died down after that. but for people like that, they're corey, who is palestinian american and it's been affecting us our whole my whole life. he says he's standing up for his family who

lives in the war zone. are you worried for >> absolutely. yeah. sometimes they don't respond because they're just like i said. >> they're tired of responding everybody, but it scares you because you don't know if something happened to them or they're just like tired responded, you know, now these are the pepper that fremont police used against protesters. and of course, ended up hitting journalist as well for you watching at home. these to definitely not feel good. now we reached out to from a police to find out how many people were arrested from today's protest as well as tesla for comment. but we did not hear back reporting in fremont jacmel kron 4 news. >> well, one of the protest actually shut down the golden gate bridge for hours. we want this breaking news to you live yesterday on the kron. morning news. pro-palestinian protesters blocking the southbound lanes heading into san francisco. the protestors chained themselves together. they but pipes over the chains. chp shut down the northbound lanes so they could get to the demonstration and

for about 4 hours traffic shut down in both directions. it reopened just a little after noon. chp arrested. 26 protesters, a variety of charges, including false imprisonment for now allowing people to move freely but 80, okay, north on a 80 that was also shut down around 6 in the morning. this was the scene. chp tells us 7 protesters chain themselves to 6 concrete filled roms weighed about 280 pounds each 7 people were arrested. then around 8, chp says 300 protesters then blocked the southbound lanes of 8.80, traffic was blocked for several hours until officers in riot gear back. the crowd of protesters off of the freeway. yet 5 more people being arrested. traffic was at a standstill along 8.80, after about 5 hours. things started to move again. so a lot of people are wondering what will happen to the dozens of people who are arrested. well, where

sarah stinson is topped with a legal expert to find out. i implore people, please. protest were here to protect your rights to protest. >> but you cannot block roadways. you cannot keep emergency personnel, whether it's ambulance or law enforcement, fire department from getting out to assist other people. >> stern words from california highway patrol after arresting 38 protesters monday. they were among hundreds of people who disrupted traffic for hours at 3 different locations in the bay area. all calling for an immediate cease-fire in gaza. 26 people got arrested after blocking all lanes on the golden gate bridge. 7 people got arrested on i-80 in oakland after a group locked their arms 280 pound concrete barrels in the middle of traffic lanes. and at the 7th street exit of i-80, 8000's of protesters walked onto the freeway. 5 people got arrested there. chp says the protesters

now face a slew of charges. the most serious being conspiracy to commit a crime and false imprisonment, which surprise legal expert stephen clark. >> the chp is obviously taking this very seriously with these arrests suggesting conspiracy that could elevate these charges to a felony. the protesters on the golden gate bridge will be prosecuted by the san francisco district attorney and the protesters in the east bay will be prosecuted by the alameda county district attorney. >> clark says it might be hard to prove the false imprisonment charges. certainly you can argue that the protesters by shutting down access on the bridge you are presenting those drivers. >> at the same time, the drivers could have got out of their car and left. so i don't know that that it's false imprisonment charge would hold up in trial. >> clark says as a former prosecutor, this will be overall a challenge in court when the defense argues for first amendment rights. i

think it will be a difficult call for the da just how to handle these cases. >> because this is a very progressive community. we do respect the right free speech. but at the same time, we don't want to see public safety jeopardized. >> i'm sara stinson reporting kron. 4 news. >> well, happening today, the san francisco sheriff's office, they plan to talk about recent lockdowns happening at 2 jails in the city. they say the jails are on lockdown after number of inmate attacks on deputies and staff lockdowns are happening at county jails 2, 3, sheriff's office says inmates hurt 7 staff members since march. 29, the union representing the deputies is demanding california national guard be called in to help. the press conference is set to happen at 2 this afternoon. one person is hurt after their car was hit by a caltrain. this is right near the santa marta station. firefighters say that car was on the tracks around 6.30, yesterday evening as a southbound train was

approaching. there were about 25 passengers on board the train when it crashed into the car. we don't have any were about anybody being hurt that was on board that train. we're now learning the ages of the 2 teenage girls were shot and killed and napa over the weekend. now police say one of the girls are 17 years old. was 19 when officers arrived at the scene on saturday and found the 2 girls suffering from gunshot wound. they say one of the girls died at the scene and the other one died at the hospital saturday night neighbors. we got a chance to talk they were shocked that this happened. >> you know, it's it's completely out of the norm. not just for the neighborhood, but for the the community of napa large. we just don't, you know, have homicides, you know, much less of a double so it's it's rattled us all. >> neighbors also tell us this does not happen in this neighborhood. it is generally a safe place so far no arrests

have been made. and police said more information about the shooting is going to be released soon. happening today, convicted killer scott peterson is set to be back in a redwood cordy. the city courtroom. this is going to be the first of 3 hearings in an effort to get his conviction overturned. peterson was convicted back in 2004 of the murder of his wife, laci and their unborn child. peterson has maintained he's innocent. he's now serving life in prison earlier this year. the los angeles innocence project which takes on cases it believes led to wrongful convictions, took on peterson's case. lawyers are asking a judge to approve new. do dna testing and that evidence be reexamined. also happening today, governor gavin newsom is going to be in the bay area this afternoon to announce a new climate partnership with norway, even us at the start at noon. still ahead, a problem morning news. sonoma county, home care providers raleigh.

state firmly drying out. now, as this high pressure ridge sits right overhead. now we do have a little bit of coastal fog, keeping areas cooler at the coast, inland areas, though, increasingly warm as we advance these next couple of days. today will be our first taste of 70's for many areas for the week and tomorrow as we move into your wednesday after a bit of morning cloud cover skies are clear. nicely and will tap into a few low 80's for inland areas. as for daytime highs today, take a look at these. we will be up into the low 70's from oakland down through hayward, mid 70's and conquered fremont. san jose. you'll be at 77. well sf and other spots near the coastline will hang on to some 60's as we move through the forecast tomorrow and thursday for inland areas do rise into the low 80's, whereas bayside areas will stay in that comfortable range of mid 70's. the weekend ahead. looks gorgeous with plenty of sunshine, dry skies and those 70's holding strong. as for your roads, things out there

>> all right. well, let's get back to the kron 4 morning news. get a look at the forecast for you. head out the door. good morning degree that we are looking at a nice day today. warming up a little bit as compared to yesterday. this is downtown san francisco right now. little bit of fog overhead in just a few spots, mostly in the interior with some patchy valley fog out that way. all be watching 101 really close today. that was in the area yesterday that did have a lot of fog present at it. not so much just far especially around nevado. we do have some low clouds hanging out overhead. current temperatures in the 40's to 50's right now. alameda sitting at 52 degrees petaluma

at a cool 45 berkeley and oakland sitting at 48 later on today. first taste of those 70's after yesterday's 60's and tomorrow we're actually going to see a few low 80's on the map. i'll get to the details as we go. roadways right now are doing just fine. i hope we can keep that around. yesterday was a tough one for pretty much all of our commuters. but if you are getting an early start today, you're trying to avoid any potential impacts regardless. it looks good as you're getting out there at this moment right now. thank you for that. well, a hearing for convicted killer scott peterson is going to be held this morning in redwood city. >> this is actually the first of 3 hearings that have been set as his new defense team tries to get him a brand trial alvarez. michael thomas is live at the holland justice and redwood city with the latest on that morning. michael. >> hey, good morning, everyone. double convicted murderer. scott peterson is set to appear in court today in hopes of getting that new

trial essentially overturning his conviction for killing his pregnant wife, laci and unborn son. conner, back in 2002 dumping their bodies into the san francisco bay. we've got video up on your screen so i can break it all down as rate a mention. today's overall goal is really to get a new trial. he was convicted of those 2 murders back in 2004 but has maintained his innocence while serving life in prison earlier this year, the los angeles innocence project which takes on cases that they believe are wrongfully convicted, took on peterson's case and is now asking a judge to approve new dna testing to reexamined evidence from 2 decades ago. this evidence things that are related to a burned-out van. and we've got video of that on your screen now that van was found near the peterson home around the time that his wife, laci disappeared. his legal team is now asking that new dna testing be done on the blood that was found inside that van. and they're also requesting to see reports that were collected during the search of the bay area.
