exactly here yesterday and the day before it too. watch for a little bit of fog formation in the north bay. again, much like yesterday was aside from that radar showing these dry skies sunshine this afternoon, a few passing clouds this morning, but really not a lot of it and rain alluded to this, but today will be ever so slightly warmer than yesterday for some of her south bay neighbors in particular. we will see a few low 80's while most of the rest of us are going to be hanging out that comfortable range of 70's again, i'll be talking all about the rest of this week's forecast. if there is anything in sight that alludes to rainfall all still to come. as for your roads right now, we are looking at some pretty clear conditions out there. bay bridge, free of fog, free of backups. just a good ride across the san mateo bridge at 12 minutes to make your crossing there. as for the richmond, sandra fell as well as the golden gate. nothing's getting in your way just yet right john, thank you for that. developing news, those who were arrested for blocking the golden gate

bridge on monday. >> they're going to be let out of jail. the pro-palestinian protesters took over the bridge around 8 that morning. these pipes chains and locks around their arms, make it really difficult for law enforcement to remove them. the northbound and southbound lanes of the bridge was shut down for nearly 4 hours. francisco district attorney brooke jenkins is prosecutors must charge all 26 people arrested with clear evidence which they don't have yet. >> the district attorney's office, what is required to to file charges within 48 hours of their arrest. unfortunately, due to the timing of their arrest yesterday that charging decision has to be made by 04:00pm today. at this time we anticipate having to send the case back to the chp for continued investigation. this is an active and open investigation. anyone who was falsely imprisoned on the golden gate bridge on april

15th 2024 is urged to contact the california highway patrol. >> jenkins says taking over a bridge and blocking traffic will not be tolerated. and that even though they cannot charge the protesters now, this is still a very active investigation. meanwhile, you that pro-palestinian demonstrators also blocking entrances to a weapons manufacturer. this is called general dynamics, ordnance and tactical systems. they're out in hillsborough. this happened yesterday. organizers say they block the interest is for more than 3 hours now. the company they build guns, missiles, rockets and ammunition. protesters say they refuse to be a part of a war machine. on the peninsula. protesters gather right outside of google's headquarters in sunnyvale, calling on the little to stop doing business with israel because they say israel is committed. they are committing a genocide in gaza. sunnyvale. police say about 80 people gathered right outside google around 10, 30 yesterday

morning. most of them left around lunchtime. they say 5, the protesters remain near past 6.30, police eventually arrested them for trespassing. well, as into the east as a mail carrier with usps was attacked and robbed at gunpoint. this all happening. union city police are working now to find the attacker even offering a reward to the public for help over sarah stinson has that story. >> a mail carrier assaulted and robbed at gunpoint here in union city in the middle of the afternoon. the thieves also took off with a postal key. i spoke with a postal inspector who says this could result in mail being stolen from people who live in that neighborhood where the robbery took place. for us a very high priority investigation. another u.s. postal service mail carrier attacked on the job. this time the postal employee was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint in union city. it happened around 2

saturday afternoon on granada way off regions boulevard. union city police responded in say the mail carrier was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. postal police are working around the clock to identify and find the attacker. usps has put out $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people involved of the safety of letter carriers is our number one concern. jeff fitch is a postal inspector. he says people who live in this union city neighborhood should be on high alert if they see you know. >> 3, 4, weeks, credit card statements or bank statements where there's transaction they did not make. contact u.s. or contact. union city police department fitch says in the last 4 years usps has seen an uptick in mail carrier robberies. it's been all over the bay area. we had robberies in san francisco. we've had properties here oakland. >> berkeley. that the number

of different cities just last month kron 4 reported on postal worker being robbed in oakland. investigators shared this photo of the suspect who they're still searching for. there's a $150,000 reward offered in this case as well. anybody has information that any of these robberies that we publicized contact us at the 24 hour number, the 877-876-2455. >> if the person or people involved in this robbery are caught and convicted, they would face 2 felonies for not only stealing the postal people, but also assaulting the mail carrier that could result in up to 35 years behind bars. i'm sara stinson reporting in union city. back to you. >> well, 2 people are in the hospital after being injured in a shooting in san francisco. the shooting happened around 6.45 last night at palu avenue and griffith streets in the city's 100 point neighborhood. police say one of the victims as life threatening injuries while the other has less serious

injuries, we don't have any word on a suspect or suspects at this time. if you have any information, asked to call san francisco police. well in the south, former youth pastor in san jose is now charged with committing crimes against young women. brett franklin by master is being charged with 6 counts, lewd acts to a girl from the time she was until 13. so he worked as the years director. and the pastor at the river terrace community in san jose. and a report filed by the santa clara district attorney's office youth group members claim by master groom teenagers and perform lewd acts. in a statement to kron 4 by masters lawyer denies the allegations calling them the latest in a slanders campaign to destroy a good citizen. he says, quote, while mister by master worked at the river, he ministered on the christian ideas of all of these lessons. they were voluntary and they

were part of a larger curriculum. it was approved by the river, including a number of parents on the board. the river church also released a statement saying, quote, we are deeply saddened by these developments and continue to express our concerns, prayers and support for the young people who have bravely raised their voices for all victims of abuse and for our entire church community. during the stressing times. now in 2019, a master left the charge started working at healing world health center. that's up a base clinic in san jose. now center has placed by master on administrative leave, telling us they had no further details at this time. by master appeared in court last week. his bail is set for $400,000 and he's going to be court this friday asked the judge to reduce his bail. time now 509. and there's a renewed push in santa clara county to re sentence inmates who are on death row to life without parole. how was moment? has

that story over time? my thinking has. >> change. it's a new perspective on justice for a long time district attorney who spent a decade prosecuting rape and murder cases in santa clara county. jeff rosen says he no longer thinks the death penalty is justified. >> adding, well, california hasn't executed anyone since 2006 and governor gavin newsom put a moratorium on it in 2018. santa clara county still has 15 inmates on death row. >> racism and other kinds of biases have deeply affected our country since its founding. his goal now is to ask that all 15 of these individuals have their sentences changed from death to life without the possibility of parole and for a local faith leaders such as san jose bishop oscar cantu. this is a progressive step. but are we a throwaway culture? where can simply throw away >> individuals bishop can't who recently went to alabama where he met with other

bishops who support getting rid of the death penalty. yes, we do want justice to be served. >> but we also don't want to play god either. my hope is that this will help too. and a lot of the litigation around the death penalty. meantime, da rosen says he's spoken with many of the victims families in related cases, some support his efforts. >> others not so much, but for rosen justices still served as best. it can with some of the worst criminal offenders spending the rest of their lives behind bars while at the same time. >> trying to strengthen and make our justice system more fair. and the district attorney says that it's hard to tell how easy or difficult it will be because each of these cases for the 15 people currently sitting on death row will be taken individually. so the process will take months. the district attorney tells me the first case for that first inmate on death row. it set for about 2 months from now. for now, we're in san jose jack moment. kron 4 news still

you know, today police are investigating after the body of a man washes ashore. the berkeley marina last saturday. they believe they belong to a man in his 50's. investigators are looking into whether the man's death was suspicious or not. was there was a sheriff's office says the lockdown, one of its jails. it's coming to an end today. comes as 2 jails. they were locked down

santa clara board of supervisors. they voted in favor creating a report to help keep the regional medical center open. comes after hours of public testimony against that closure of the trauma center supervisor cindy chavez is closing. that senate will meet people who have had a stroke, maybe a heart attack, a car accident. they would have to travel a lot farther to get the help they need. supervisors now calling on the state department of health to use its authority to tell them not to shut it down. supervisors believe and if they can demonstrate why the trauma center closure is a major public safety danger, the state would be obligated to not allow the closure to happen. well, a rapper and philanthropist mistah fab is been giving back to the community for years made since i was growing up here in oakland. so last year he opened up about his struggles with anxiety that led to the creation of a therapy, an open form for black men to share their mental health stories.

>> all right. welcome back to the kron. 4 morning news. a man john out yesterday. was like, ok, told myself i was going you know, try to get in shape by the summer. and the summer is already year, but it's still we've got to that do. you know how it is in california. we just get there a little we are looking at a nice forecast and for a lot of us, it is going to feel like a little taste of summer with a few spots today rising into the low 80's, even a little bit warmer than yesterday was. >> this is your view outside of the golden gate bridge. skies out there. just a touch of fog to the golden gate. not a lot else where a north bay you do have a few watching closely, much like yesterday. so far. it's ok, though, 40's to 50's for your current temperatures. santa rosa among our cooler spots of 46. well, alameda munger warmer spots to 55. now, right now we are seeing dry skies on radar. that's something that remains the remainder of this forecast with no chance of rain. the rest of this week north into the weekend and early next week. so we're smooth sailing

highway patrol did arrest numerous protesters for numerous offenses on monday for shutting down the golden gate bridge and really causing havoc. and we've got video of what that scene looks like monday morning at around 08:30am, when pro-palestinian protesters took over the bridge, stopping traffic both ways in total chp arrested. 26 protester for false imprisonment, unlawful assembly and conspiracy to commit a crime. protesters use pipes, chains and locks making things difficult for law enforcement to get them off of the road and get traffic moving. and despite the havoc that it caused, san francisco da, brooke jenkins says there was no clear evidence to charge these 26 protesters adding that she would need video specifically of those that were arrested and is asking anyone with information or video of them to send it to their office. take a listen to what she had to say yesterday regarding her not filing charges. >> the district attorney's office, what is required to to file charges within 48 hours of their arrest.

woman took off in a car after an argument. police later found the car in oakland and vote was not seen driving it and he was seen driving it. police say they gather more evidence and believe the man was involved in the death of both women and their disappearance. the body of the lie has still not been found now, police are also investigating after the body of a man washes ashore in the berkeley marina. they say the body was found last saturday evening. they believe belonged to a man in his 50's. investigators are looking into whether the death of a man, a suspicious or not. i think the killer scott peterson appeared in court. in redwood city for the first of 3 hearings as his new defense team tries to get him any trial. peterson appear in a san mateo county courtroom through video conference yesterday. his attorneys from the la innocence project submitted more than 1500 pages legal document. question evidence information for his case. now, the innocence project is also

looking to retest evidence found near the peterson home around the time of laci peterson's disappearance. >> say that those materials are tested for dna and laci peterson's dna on some of those materials to would give rise for a good basis for a motion for a new tron. >> well, the next hearing in this case are set for may. 29 and july 15th. 4 is your local election headquarters. the recount of the ballots cast in the congressional race to replace nsu is underway. it's happening because of the time between assemblyman evan low santa clara county supervisor joe simeone at the santa clara county register voters. the request to count the 150,000 vote was asked to be by machine. not by hand. it faster. it's not cheaper. >> the estimated duration of this recount can last anywhere between one and 2 weeks. and

for what's right is for the board of supervisors to give us a special election in the next couple of months and not have us wait until november. >> leaders beyond have a recall. alameda county district attorney pamela price showed up to the board of supervisors meeting yesterday with enough signatures to push that recalls through some money. the register voters validated nearly 75,000 signatures. now the group has the signatures. it's up to the board to set a date. the next board of supervisors meeting is on april while opponents of price are excited, a recall election might still never happen. price's attorney claims it is illegal. proffers spoke with an attorney who says the register voters are picking and choosing which rules to follow. and if they don't abandon this recall, a lawsuit could be next. >> it's a writ of mandate against the county. asking the court to tell the county that

mentioned, a couple of those low 80's, really mostly just the south bay, though, santa clara milpitas campbell, san jose, as well as los gatos in morgan hill, each getting up to that mark very close in spots like fremont as well as walnut creek, danville in concord, all up to 79. well, oakland up to richmond, mid 70's for you. so definitely a warmer one today. tomorrow is going to follow up with some more of those temperatures right around the 80 degree mark inland 70's by the bay shore, little cooler into the weekend. not to say it will be cool, though. just not as warm with temperatures still well into the 70's all the way into the start of next week. as for your roads right now is our little slower through the bay bridge. you've got the metering lights on. so your typical 13 minutes to get you across right now. it is wednesday. those tend to be one of the busier commute days. so anticipate a slow. and if you are leaving later, 13 minutes on the san mateo bridge, both the richmond, sandra fell and the golden gate are still looking just fine. great. all right, john,
