charges yet. but first, a temporary ground stop for alaska airlines flights nationwide. we're live from sfo with the details. >> from the bay station, you're watching kron. and news. >> thanks so much for joining us here on kron. 4 news at noon. i'm stephanie lin, alaska airlines grounding flights for about an hour this morning due to a technical issue. kron four's charles clifford joins us live now from san francisco international airport with the latest details on this. charles. >> well, good the good news here is that this issue apparently has been result, but it did cause some delays and some confusion this morning. let's go and take a look at some video from inside sfo a little earlier this morning. now, this all began about 7.50, a pacific time when the faa approved a request from alaska airlines to ground all of its flight. also, flights also horizon air flights as well. and this is because alaska says they were

having some computer problems. some glitches with some new software. there were installing that manages the weight and balance on their aircraft. so they requested a ground stoppage and all the planes were kept on the ground for about 40 minutes. there were some people on social media asking why they were being kept out on there flight on the runway not being allowed disembark from their plane, but around 8.30, this the faa lifted that ground stoppage and the airline says things are getting back to normal inside sfo here. currently, there are no delays or any problems that we can see. but whenever something like this happens, it can cause a real trickle down effect. so if you're flying of this afternoon, especially if you're on alaska or horizon, probably a good idea to check ahead with your airline. make sure everything going smoothly that your flight is leaving on time. that's a very latest here at sfo. charles clifford kron. 4 news some helpful guidance there. charles, thank you so much. >> and happening right now, a number of contra costa county

school districts are responding to bomb threats that were made earlier this morning. liberty union brentwood union, antioch, unified, pittsburg, unified and mount diablo unified, received threats. >> district leaders alerted families after threatening emails came through claiming a bomb would detonate on campuses this afternoon if certain demands were not met. local police district officials later verified the credit what the threat rather was not credible. the mayor of antioch responding on social media, writing, quote, after a careful threat assessment, district officials will keep school open. >> police will provide extra patrols at schools. they're working with the fbi on the ongoing investigation. have much more on this developing story coming up on kron. 4 news at 2. in the east bay. detectives in san pablo identified the body of a woman found back in september. and the oakland estuary they believe she was killed by her son in law. the body belongs to. 75 year-old cute ran. police have been looking for

her and her 40 year-old daughter since they both went missing in september last month, police arrested lee's husband, food vo investigators say vo claimed the women took off in a car after the argument after an argument rather. but police later found the car oakland with vo behind the wheel. investigators now believe he was involved in the deaths and disappearances of both women. police are still looking for vo's wife's body. in the south bay. the san jose police department says it's increasing patrols at local places of worship as the conflict between israel and hamas escalate. this comes as a new report says anti-semitic incidents increased by 140% since 2020 in the u.s. this is video from lake merritt in oakland back in december when vandals tossed a menorah in the lake and then in march, a walnut creek city council meeting was disrupted by a man's anti-semitic rant. the

anti-defamation league says there's been a spike in incidents after the attack on israel by hamas and israel's bombing in gaza. >> you know, a whole society response to fight hate. we know there are far more allies to address this upbringing of hate and those who act to undermine american values. that's some great diverse team. rowdy and a multitude of cultures. >> the human rights organization released this map showing what they say are anti semitic incidents that happened across the u.s. since october. 7th. they've recorded more than 3200 incidents in just 6 months. no charges yet for the protesters who shut down the golden gate bridge on monday, san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins says more evidence is needed before she can move forward with a case. michael thomas brings us the latest. >> this decision to not pursue charges by san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins really came as a shock to some because she not only a deadline, but she says there wasn't enough evidence.

california highway patrol arrested numerous people for numerous offenses of not only blocking the golden gate bridge, but really causing havoc throughout the area. this is what the golden gate bridge look like monday morning at around 8.30, after pro-palestinian protesters took over the bridge causing commuters to be a complete stop on both sides. in total, 26 protesters were arrested by chp for false imprisonment, unlawful assembly and conspiracy to commit a crime. >> protesters, these pipes, chains and locks making things difficult for law enforcement to get them off the road and traffic moving. but despite the havoc caused san francisco da, brooke jenkins says there was no clear evidence to charge these 26 protesters causing her to miss. a 48 hour deadline on filing charges and residents in the north bay have these thoughts on the situation? i don't think she was aggressively pursuing trying hold people responsible >> she would like to get everybody i think she should hold >> the da said she needed video of the arrested. protesters caught in the act

directly and says that the public has any of those videos to contact her office says she can pass it along to the chp. >> we have been in constant communication with chp moran regarding their investigation since these arrests were made. once the investigation is complete, we will have to conduct an individualized assessment of the evidence to see what charges should be filed against which individuals that participated across the bay in alameda county. pro-palestinian protesters also shut down the northbound lanes of 8.80, causing traffic to be at a standstill for miles after submitting their arms into oil barrels. >> and sitting across the freeway, however, alameda county district attorney pamela price has yet to make a statement on. if those protesters will be charged as you get more information from officials on if charges are brought forth against those protesters will keep you updated. that's the very latest reporting from the golden gate bridge. michael thomas kron. 4 news. >> and this morning, jenkins is reaching out to anyone who may have been impacted by the protest sharing, but anyone

trapped on the bridge that day should get in touch with chp marin. let's talk about our forecast now as we take a live look outside at the golden gate bridge. traffic moving along quite nicely at this hour at 12. 0, 7, check in now with kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan. hi there. yeah, another beautiful day of sunshine. but i thought we take a look at the highs from yesterday because it was pretty impressive. you can see pittsburgh got up to 81. >> but 77 from napa right on down to concord. some really nice temperatures as well. san francisco got up to about 67 degrees. you see those low 70's around the bay. so today we're expected to see those temperatures go a little bit higher than yesterday and today and tomorrow will be the peak of this warm. so you can see already san jose and livermore and concord in the 70's at this hour zone indication that we're pumping those temperatures up a little bit quicker today. still a little cool out of half moon bay sitting at 59 degrees. but overall, everyone's kind of gone up. a couple of degrees. wind is relatively calm. as you can see here about 10 miles per hour at half. moon bay. and that's about it. we

do have a few clouds are kind of spilling over our ridge right now because that high pressure is actually tracked a little to the south of us. you can see where it's set up right there. and you start to see those clouds kind of making it the'r way over the arc. that is that spill over that i was mentioning. so that will not stop us, however, from getting some really nice temperatures today again. well, above average, as you can see in some spots about 10 degrees above average today. as we look out for upper 70's, even potentially an 80 degree mark looks like the south bay has the best chance of getting their san jose looking upper 80. but we could see low 70's right and san francisco. so another kind of banner day temperature wise. how long does this last? i have answers in your seven-day forecast. we'll see a bit with all right. looking forward to it. thank you. chp continues to fight retail crime across our state. new numbers show this year alone. they're retail crime task force recovered a record number of stolen goods and arrested hundreds of suspects since the beginning of this year. officials made 474 arrests and recovered more

than 160,000 stolen goods. >> at a total value of more than 4 million dollars organized retail crime task force started in 2019 since then, chp arrested more than 2500 suspects and recovered more than 42 million dollars worth of stolen goods in february. governor gavin newsom deployed units to oakland and greater alameda county to help fight violent crime and retail crime in the bay area. chp recovered 400 stolen cars in oakland and arrested 200 people just last week. anyone can also report retail crime tips directly through the chp is website. >> the fda and cdc are taking aim at counterfeit botox. we take a look at the findings. plus, community concerns growing over the closure of a troubled women's prison in the east bay. and organizers behind the effort to recall alameda county district attorney pamela price say they have enough signatures to push it through. why prices may

>> embattled alameda county district attorney pamela price may soon be going to war with their own county. the reason the attempt to recall her, we believe that the recall is the waggle jim sutton is the attorney for the pamela price campaign. well, the registrar of voters says enough valid signatures have been gathered to move the recalled forward. sutton says the recall is illegal because the county did not follow its own rules dictated by the county's charter. that's county charter is very clear that. >> the registrar house to verify all the signatures within 10 days. >> sutton says instead the county took more than 5 weeks to verify the signatures. another problem, some signature gatherers were from outside the county. another violation of the charter. the county must comply with the law to say what she has to comply with the law. >> and when the county charter is so clear about these roles and we see that from the beginning, the county seems to be picking and choosing which.

really nice blue skies and above average temperatures once again. and we're in this pattern for a little bit here. so it's kind of nice. but temperatures right now, you can see already some nice 70's showing up in london spots like napa at 70 degrees. livermore in san jose sitting at 73. having said that, you know, hey, we're already at 68 degrees. so you can see where we're going. and if you look at the difference in temperatures between 24 hours ago and now it is once again across the board, just a little bit warmer in today and tomorrow really will be the peak of what we'll see in these temperatures kind of bumping up beautiful as you take a live look from the east bay and i love this contrasts between the blue skies and the nice greenery that we've gotten because we've had such decent rain the season as well. so now these temperatures are propping up. we see a lot of blooming happening. and yes, you feel it in your knowledge a little bit, too. but let's take livermore as an example where normally this time of year, the average high is 70 degrees. you can see what's happening over the next 7 days. we stay well above average until we get into next week by tuesday. that's when we'll start to pull things back. but between now and then

we're kind of in this what i call zonal weather patterns. so you do see a few clouds making their way over by friday. we do break this down a little bit to where we'll cool down a touch, but it really isn't until next week, late next week that we start to see the indication of another type of weather coming our way. now. this is a little far out. so wouldn't lock in on that being the day that if we look at our long-term forecast and you can see here, the top is talking about temperatures. the bottom is precipitation. the top with temperatures you can see above average expected 6 to 10 days and then again, as we get later into about 3 to 4 weeks out now, this is precipitation. take yourself out about a week and a half and you see that green that indicates that we have a shot of rain coming for the west coast. so still a little far out from that. you don't see it yet on the 7 day forecast. but just an indication to you that, you know, all good things must come to an end. we are well above average. you do see a few clouds coming in on thursday. a little bit of a cooler run on friday. but, you know, absolutely beautiful through the weekend. make your plans get out and hike walk

bike. do all the fun stuff you love to do because by the time we get into that kind of latter part of next week, i do think we're going to see quite a big change in our weather. but boy, this is nice. it's like a little pop of summer before or even officially there. all right. love the look of that. thanks so much. well, chaos and confusion. that's what one dvocate says is happening at the all-women prison in dublin. this comes after federal officials announced they were closing the prison after a year's long abuse scandal. oprah's philippe djegal has the details. emily shapiro has been a volunteer advocate for the california coalition for women prisoners for 8 years and has been visiting inmates at federal correctional institution. dublin. >> for the past 2 years, she's concerned by the abrupt announcement, but the troubled facility is closing their way. that it's happening is a bad thing. just weeks after a u.s. district judge ordered the appointment of a special master to oversee the all-women prison in the east bay federal bureau of prisons.

director colette peters says the facility will be shuttered. one plagued by rampant abuse and poor living conditions. the fact that the be opiate, the 19 that the prison is closed, doesn't feel like they're admitting their culpability in harming people inside. >> i feel what's happening is. to me, i believe essentially trying to silence disappear. the people who really put a lot on the line to call out the abusive abuses effort. in a statement, peters says, quote, over the past several years at fci, dublin, the fb o p has taken unprecedented steps and provided a tremendous amount of resources. >> to address culture, recruitment and retention aging infrastructure and most critical employee misconduct. >> despite these steps and

resources, we have determined that fci, dublin is not meeting expected standards and that the best course of action is to close the facility. this decision is being made after ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of those unprecedented steps and additional resources like silencing in disbursing whistleblowers and >> putting an end to the bad press surrounding the prison without actually address, seen the harms. colette peters says no employees will lose their jobs with the closure and the women currently house. there will be transferred to other facilities without providing a timeline. we're defining the closure as permanent. philippe djegal all kron. 4 >> still ahead, as wildfire recovery efforts continue in la hina. a new report details how fire crews responded to that deadly blaze. plus, more accommodations for pregnant workers are coming soon. the new rules that will be in new rules that will be in place.

investigating counterfeit botox, fearing it could be behind multiple reports of severe health problems. the agency the agency say that there have been 9 hospitalizations and at least 19 claims of vision problems and difficulties breathing and swallowing all from people who got fake botox. both the cdc and the fda believe the counterfeit material was obtained from unlicensed sources. adding these cases are not connected to authentic botox advocacy groups warn even regulated. botox can lead to a serious muscle paralyzing disease and are pushing for stronger warning labels. both federal agencies recommend patients see a licensed professional if considering botox. as measles cases continue to rise nationwide, some states are reaching out directly to parents to help with vaccination efforts. the cdc says as of last week there have been more than 120 confirmed infections and at least 17 states states. so far this year. that's more than double the cases seen during all of last year. cdc data

shows national coverage for the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine among kindergartners has fallen below. 95%. for 3 straight years. that's the level needed for herd immunity. a new study reveals san francisco has a large mosquito population and that's not all. researchers say the bugs are emerging sooner and sticking around longer than ever before. the study conducted by pest control service term, an x-ray san francisco number 10 for having the most mosquitoes in the country. it also found areas with seasonal temperatures higher than 55 degrees are at higher risk of mosquito activity, especially coastal regions. the number one city for having the most mosquitoes was los angeles, other california cities on the list included palm springs, sacramento and san diego. south bay residents could be paying more money on their water bills that if a local water agency gets its way valley water in santa clara county's main is santa clara

county's main supplier. and they're spending big to fix the anderson and pacheco dams and other projects that hold and protect the county's water supply supply from climate change. so to get the money for this project they're proposing raising groundwater production charges on cities and private water retailers. this could add up to almost $9 a month to customers bills in the upcoming fiscal year. valley water is also he supplier for san jose water company which serves 1 million santa clara county residents and a water company is already separately asking the california public utilities commission to allow a 22% rate increase over 3 years. starting in 2025. san jose water is also seeking approval to add a surcharge to customers bills because they claim to have spent 23 million dollars on unforeseen costs since its last rate hike in 2021. no word yet on any action on that request. i mean, time for valley water. the water district held 2 meetings on the proposed rate hikes last week. a final

in the south bay to re-sentenced inmates on death row santa clara county district attorney jeff rosen is leading this charge. kron four's jack moment. reports. >> over time, my thinking has change. it's a new perspective on justice for a long time district attorney who spent a decade prosecuting rape and murder cases in santa clara county. jeff rosen says he no longer thinks the death penalty is justified. >> adding, well, california hasn't executed anyone since 2006 and governor gavin newsom put a moratorium on it in 2018. santa clara county still has 15 inmates on death row. >> racism and other kinds of biases have deeply affected our country since its founding. his goal now is to ask that all 15 of these individuals have their sentences changed from death to life without the possibility of parole and for a local faith leaders such as san jose bishop oscar cantu.

this is a progressive step. but are we a throwaway culture? >> where can simply throw away individuals. bishop can't who recently went to alabama where he met with other bishops who support getting rid of the death penalty. yes, we do want justice to be served. >> but we also don't want to play god either. my hope is that this will help too. and a lot of the litigation around the death penalty. meantime, da rosen says he's spoken with many of the victims families in related cases, some support his efforts. >> others not so much, but for rosen justices still served as best. it can with some of the worst criminal offenders spending the rest of their lives behind bars while at the same time. >> trying to strengthen and make our justice system more fair. and the district attorney says that it's hard to tell how easy or difficult it will be because each of these cases for the 15 people currently sitting on death row

will be taken individually. so the process will take months. the district attorney tells me the first case for that first inmate on death row. it set for about 2 months from now. for now, we're in san jose jack moment. kron 4 news. >> the sfmta board of directors voted to finalize plans installing speed cameras around the city back in 2023, a state bill passed allowing san francisco along with 5 other cities to launch a 5 year safety camera pilot. this enables the sfmta to install 33 speed cameras on streets with a history of speeding and severe or fatal crashes. a state bill that would have banned homeless encampments near schools and major transit stops failed to pass in sacramento. the bill also would have banned camping on sidewalks if shelter space is available. disappointing. obviously, you know, we worked very hard to make this a bipartisan bill. >> i think my coauthor as senator catherine blakespear also from san is taking this issue seriously. and we it just shows us that we have a

lot of work to do with the committee and with the voices in opposition that, you know, in my opinion, really don't understand the goal of the bill. it's not to criminalize homelessness. >> the bill is not completely dead yet. the state senator behind the bill that was granted reconsideration, which means he can resubmit the bill for approval in the public safety committee. in the south bay, a former youth pastor in san jose is charged with committing crimes against young women. read by master faces 6 counts of committing lewd acts with a girl from the time she was 8 years old until she was 13 by master. worked as the youth group director and pastor at the river church community in san jose. according to the santa clara district attorneys office hughes group members say by master groom to teenagers and performed lewd acts on them. in a statement to kron 4 by masters lawyer denied the allegations claiming they're part of a slanderous campaign to destroy his client's reputation. he says, quote, while mister by master worked at the river, he ministered on

the christian ideas of health. all of these lessons were voluntary and were part of a larger curriculum that was approved by the river by the river, including a number of parents on the board. the river church also released a statement saying, quote, we are deeply saddened by these developments and continue to express our concerns. prayers and support for the young people who have bravely raised their voices for all victims of abuse and for our entire church community. during these distressing times. in 2019, by master left the church for a job that healing grove health center, a faith based clinic in san jose. he's currently on administrative leave by master will be in court this friday when he's expected to ask the judge to reduce his $400,000 bail. kron 4 is your local election headquarters. santa clara county has started recounting its ballots in the race to replace nsu in congress. at the moment. assemblyman evan low in santa clara county supervisor joe smitty and are tied for second place. the recount will decide

who moves on to face. former san jose mayor sam liccardo on the november ballot recounting the 150,000 ballots in santa clara county will not be done by hand, but rather by machine, which is not cheap. but it is fast. >> the estimated duration of this recount can last anywhere between one and 2 weeks. and we require $12,000 deposit daily. additional fees can incur each state depending on what the requester wants examine. >> the person who asked for the recount is santa clara voter, jonathan padilla, who reportedly work for the campaign to elect former san jose mayor sam liccardo back in 2014. but claims he asked for the recount on behalf of evan low. but lowes campaign says that's not true in any event. the fact that we have a tie for second place is historic. >> yeah, this is and extraordinary event yeah, unique we're just we're

handling it day by day. >> and santa clara county recount is one of 2 that have been requested so far. the other is in san mateo county where officials confirm their recount is also expected to start today. how's the forecast looking for a recount? taking a live look outside at sfo. i was just a few planes out there on the runway. let's check in now with kron 4 meteorologist kyla grogan for more. i pay their yeah. i want to start with a look at the national picture because we talked about the torn were happening day. parts of iowa, kansas cer states that were unfortunate dealing with that weather. as we zoom in here, you can see that. >> are thase yellow boxes yet again, that show that we have severe thunderstorm warnings that are happening this time in parts of michigan down into a indiana and illinois. now i wanted to point out lansing, michigan, this is one inch hail that you can see here that just was reported. so pretty incredible. i'm happy to say that we're not seeing any tornado warnings at the moment. but you do see all of these storm reports indicating

that that's weather is going to be difficult again today. you can see parts of the ohio valley under that tornado watch until 7 o'clock tonight. meanwhile, back in the bay area, we have a very different day. a few clouds out there today. you can see that as we take a live look here at half moon bay, but still temperatures are on the rise and we're already seeing 70's in spots like the inner east bay, south bay. and even as we head up to the north bay to you can see napa there. it's 70 degrees. 72 nevado obvious little cooler in half moon bay. they are in the 50's. having said that a little bit warmer than we were this time yesterday. so we have a very nice day on tap today. the warmth set to peak today into tomorrow. and then we do pull back but only slightly as we head towards the weekend. still looking like a really stellar weekend ahead with above average temperatures, as you can see, we do stay dry over the next few days. when i come back in just a little bit, go over that 7 day forecast. so you can make those weekend plans. i think you're going to like it. back to you. all right. great. thank you. as wildfire recovery efforts continue in la hina, the maui fire department today released its

it's erratic and often unpredictable. tesla says it does not make your car autonomous vehicles on the blinker. put on the and we are now taking the exit. the car remind you to touch the wheel every so often and uses the in cabin camera to make sure you're paying attention. they claim it's not a self-driving and therefore they're not subject to the self-driving car regulations so they pretty much do what they want to no doubt is an outspoken critic of tesla's self-driving technology. be like a hawk. you know, it's going to try to kill you. you know, it's going to try to crash into parked car, crossed the yellow line or whatever. but what's happening here, bottom line, you're either in full control of the car or you're not. this in between state can feel even more stressful. it's still pretty wild what this car can do on its own. tesla is definitely pushing the boundaries here. but when it works, it's an incredible feat of engineering and software. >> but it still seems that there's a lot of work to be done to make this more reliable and safe or i'm rich
