half-hour now learning the names of the family members who killed in that fiery car crash last week in pleasanton as kron four's terisa spout reports tonight. authorities are still trying to figure out. >> what caused the crash in the first place. >> on monday, pleasant and police at the scene taking measurements and documenting other pertinent facts. there are more questions than answers right now as to what caused a fiery crash last wednesday night on foothill in stone ridge road that killed a family of 4 notes and flowers along with parts left behind at the family's car now dot the landscape. police say that the family was apparently returning from a birthday party when for some reason, the electric car swerved and collided with a tree catching fire. >> right down the street from and their family, you know, like all rest of this and they have them. you know, he's seen

him with their kids playing he writes, when i right my by that. yeah, it's really and neighbor too upset to be on camera. talked with kron 4 news. >> got home this way. that was the next day. i was pretty the names not being released to kron. 4 news from the alameda county sheriff's department include. >> 2 run george. 41 rowan george 13 and aaron george 9, the identity of the 4th victim, authorities say cannot be released yet. but sources tell kron 4 news that it was the wife rienzi george. 2 run worked in tech. he was with aruba and networking company for 11 years. in a statement, a spokesperson said, quote, we are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic accident. 2 run was a valued alumnus of our hpe, aruba family, and our thoughts are with his family's loved ones at this devastating time, unquote. the boy's ruin aaron attended pleasanton

schools notes from their classmates. we're on a poster at the crash site. >> grief counselors have been called in to help children with the grieving process of losing a classmate in pleasanton theresa kron. 4 news. >> police on the peninsula say a multi agency task force is making progress fighting organized retail theft. the task force was put together using money from the state to include splits from daly city, san bruno. and sam, a tail says the task force began in october of last year. police say they've recovered more than 700 stolen items worth more than $23,000. and it made 88 arrests. the north bay, a man was arrested after police say he used a sword during a robbery in santa rosa. >> this is this or that police recovered. the robbery happened just before 2 yesterday afternoon at a restaurant on 4th street. an employee told police it man was leaving the restroom when he threatened a worker with a sword. they say that while the

worker went to hide, the man stole alcohol from the cooler before then running off. police say they found the man early this morning yelling and causing a disturbance. he was arrested and booked into jail on a felony count of felony robbery. to the east bay. now a man was arrested after police say that he attacked 2 people, including piedmont's police chief as kron four's. tiffany justice tells us the chief is now questioning why that suspect had been released from jail before serving. >> his full sentence for kidnapping significantly injured. >> in an unprovoked attack, older gentleman and he had just gotten injuring my officers. and so it was at that point time, doesn't matter what think. you are. you know, we're in this you know, we set up officer. my position would do the same thing. >> on monday, piedmont police chief jeremy bowers recounting attack on friday that had him face to face with a violent suspect around 4.20 in the

afternoon. police were called to ace hardware on 12. 21 grand avenue after getting calls about an elderly man getting punched from behind. happened right inside of our front initially we thought it was a medical >> issue because there really wasn't anybody around. we had an elderly customer kind of walk through the door. >> appeared to kind of stop and clean as glasses. and a gentleman walked from outside right behind them. sucker punched him right into the back of his head and knocked him out for quite a few minutes. store manager sean braga says the suspect. 42 year-old willie gomer ran back outside. >> into the building next door, which is their garden center. that's where piedmont police caught up to gomer. she bowers says the suspect immediately initiated a physical confrontation >> attempted to were relegated to have use the on several occasions. in addition our oc spray pepper spray for lack of

kidnapping, along with several parole violations. he says after reviewing records from donors, kidnapping offense, they learned he was released prior to his full term which would have kept him in jail until 2025. prompting the police chief to question why when i look at that situation with the things i'm thinking, as you know, was he doing out? >> he's clearly a he wasn't in a space where you might think we should be in public based off his actions reporting. tiffany justice kron, 4 news. >> it's been one year since banko brown was killed outside of a walgreens in san francisco. this is security video from last april. the private security guard involved says that brown was shoplifting during the confrontation. michael earl wayne anthony shot brown as he tried to leave the business a second time. the da's office did not try anthony because he argued he acted in self-defense, saying that brown threatened to stab him. brown was later found to be unarmed. walgreens, the guard and the company that employed

the guard were fined. brown, a black transgender man was an housed at the time and a volunteer organizer for the young women's freedom center issued a statement writing in part, quote, bancos life was worth so much more than what it was taken for in the face of adversity. he was resilient and courageous. he fearlessly fought for the rights and dignity of trans people. end quote. >> other news tonight, william sonoma has been ordered to pay 3 million dollars in civil penalties for labeling chinese-made products as made in the usa. the chair of the ftc, the federal trade commission says the company's deception misled consumers unharmed, honest american businesses. william sonoma also owns pottery barn and west elm governor newsom will be heading to vatican city next month to participate in the vatican climate summit. >> that summit, which will include other american mayors and governors will happen between may 15th and may 17th.

the governor's office says that he's going speak at the summit and also advanced sub national climate work. region in italy. >> we've got a tornado right here 2.15. >> 2 storm chasers had a very close call with a tornado near marietta, oklahoma. dramatic video shows the car just clipping some falling debris as a powerful twister cross their path. neither person in the vehicle was hurt, but the car was damaged number of areas in the midwest and great plains are cleaning up and digging out from these deadly tornadoes that hit over the weekend. oklahoma was hardest hit. at least 5 people were killed there, including a baby more than 2 dozen tornadoes hit oklahoma saturday causing widespread destruction. at least 100 people were injured power outages are still affecting thousands. well, with that, we're going to things over lawrence. storm

chaser. >> video really is. you know, it's kind of become a concern because a lot of folks will go out there and they'll go chasing this storm is by themselves and i mean, you make one wrong move. you don't know you're doing there. i mean, that could be a deadly situation. so going to see more tornadic activity across the u.s. as we head in toward the next 24 hours and probably to the middle of the week. this is that time of year. this is tornado season and you see this a slow-moving cold front working its way across the country. and with that along that line see the potential for some more severe weather even tomorrow. but then that's going to be another storm system. developing on the backside that could bring another round of some scary weather as we head toward the middle of the country. but right now we've seen numerous reports not only tornadic activity but damaging size hail in some cases over 2 sized hail that was coming down in parts of the country. and you can see all the gusty wind to go along with that as the system has been rolling through and the need some of the systems, you can see some very significant gusts. fact, some of those gusts could upwards of 60 miles an hour. plus, in some parts of the but

the got a gust there of 59 miles per hour. you've got hail that's coming down over an inch there. you've got more on the way. in fact, see the areas shaded in red as well. we've got some flooding that continues in some areas just because of all the heavy rainfall in that area. got a ways to go to clean things up from this storm system. and this was going to track a little further north by tomorrow. again, they fall under that shadow of a potential. this area shaded in green here like green. that's where there's potential for some more severe weather along that line in early march ever so slowly behind that. we've got some more cold air that is now going to drop out of the rockies and make its way through the country's midsection and could lead to some more severe weather. you'll see that the forecast models that storm system heading eastward causing some trouble there. that on the backside of a sudden get that cold or drop off the rockies in the central plains and there you go. we could very well be talking about more tornadoes developing along that front line as we head toward the middle of guys. back to you. thank you, lawrence. ferry service in and out of sausalito may resume this week as crews continue to work to fix the pier in that

for child care measure. see, it's a 20 year half-cent sales tax increase. the voters passed in 2020, but it was challenged by alameda county taxpayers association. the california supreme court upheld the measure last week. that money is going to be divided into 2 accounts with 20% devoted to pediatric health care, overseen by a citizen oversight committee and the other 80% is going to be dedicated to childcare. preschool and early education. that will be administered by first 5 alameda county. >> new survey shows more than 10% of retired americans are expected to go back to work this year with 60% of retirees have to do something extra to supplement their income inflation and the cost of living are among the top reasons. retirees are punching in the clock again. the type of jobs older americans are taking may surprise you. >> business going into the game. come me.

now to our 4 zone forecast, a live picture at sfo. yeah, we're not fire season. not just yet. the weather's going to be warming up, certainly is the fight. those temperatures going to be on the rise. so, yeah, the next few days looks like high pressure takes over. but then things start to get really interesting as we head toward the latter part of this week. we're going to show you that more in a moment fact, the long-range forecast the climate prediction center showing a lot of green in the bay area. look to the scale that's above normal precipitation as we head in toward the period of the 5th, the 9th of may that include your weekend, cinco de mayo and how about that? we could have some rain on the way. want to show you this. this the american model as we get to the next couple days, we're looking good. high pressure overhead. you've got a lot of sunshine, some very nice weather. probably some numbers in the 80's. then as we head into the weekend. well, this model says everything changes brings a significant storm possibly in the bay area as early as saturday. continuing into sunday snow in the sierra

nevada. but that all holds true. that is something else. now, that same models also predicting a tremendous amount of rain, maybe an inch and a half and san francisco may be higher amounts across some of the mountain peaks. maybe 2 inches or so. i find that hard to believe the european model is completely different forecasting maybe 1, 1, 100 in san francisco. so that's quite a contrast in the models. so we're going there watching that over the next couple days. you can sort that out, but tomorrow should be a nice day. temperatures 70's in some of the interior valleys, lot of 60's 70's inside the bay 50's along the coastline next couple days. likely going to see some 80's on wednesday and thursday. don't think that's a concern. but as we get toward the weekend, we got cinco de mayo. we've got a lot of folks out there enjoy the weekend and we've got a chance of rain watch out, of course, all week long right here on kron 4. thank take a look at this. a man took a picture of what's called a a major, rare bird doing some photography at sonrise last week along the oregon coast, michael sanchez says >> he posted his pictures of the bird asking for social
