where what we are looking at some sunshine out there across the bay this morning. you did see a little fog earlier on right under the golden gate bridge. it was a very, very shallow marine layer that is easily burned off. now. >> and that's why we're warm things at least that offshore wind is relaxed. this does provide some relief to the coast in tomorrow morning as well. sunday morning for mother's day. little bit of morning fog will help to at least moderate temperatures closer to the bay. today's daytime highs are going to really warm right up. you never know. looking at our current temperatures are still actually feeling really comfortable 60's and 70's. this is a bit cooler than we were at this point yesterday, half moon bay down 11 degrees, oakland, 8 degrees cooler from the same 0. 24 hours ago this afternoon, though, we turn things around a little bit for inland areas. we are warming up even further than yesterday's high word. well, are coastal areas are staying a touch cooler. i'll be talking more in your forecast as we go. rain has got to look at those bart delays. yeah.

oh, my goodness. so we've been talking about the red and orange lines throughout the morning. >> and we still have any service that's between richmond and mcarthur. if you are typically taken that throughout your morning and they're recommending that you either take the capitol corridor. that's an option they're providing for folks. also buses. you can take public transportation. in addition to that, you could drive. that's been the issue for most of the morning. they had an early-morning emergency on the tracks where they've had some technical issues. there. thankfully, no other lives have been impacted. just that stretch between richmond and that car, sir. and as a result of that, you can see a lot more people have been driving along 80 because of that has been read all throughout the morning. so again, if you are just tuning in, no red or orange line between richmond and macarthur darya. james, we'll send it over to you. thanks. a lot rain. a 10 0, 2, and president biden is back in area is going to be attending a fundraising event. >> later this morning is expected to also be met by protesters. good cop was will

tran. he's covering it live from san francisco. well, what's going on? >> it's getting close guys because they are sending in more muscle by the minute meeting the bomb squad as well as the motorcade and the entourage of the san francisco police department. so they are arriving at the fairmont hotel. we do know his event will happen at 11 o'clock in portola valley near palo alto. so obviously has to leave san francisco and that will take some time motorcade or not. that's going to take maybe 2030, minutes or so. and if it's at 11, could happen within this hour that the president leaves hotel to go to his fundraising event. so far. we don't see any protesters, but we do know and they've already announced they will gather at that location and portola valley. as far as the president. well, the arrived yesterday he landed at moffett field, came into san francisco. this is a quick visit for him. he is leaving after this afternoon after 2

fundraising events strictly in town to fundraise. there are no national policies to talk about for him. he is here to raise money for his reelection campaign because he knows he's in for a battle with former president. donald trump was also fundraising and according to political experts, they say will not just take millions but billions of dollars in campaign ads too. but one person or the other in the white house come november. if we can head back out live right now. want to show you what's going on. there is a heavy police presence at this location. you can see them right behind me. the fairmont hotel is actually a couple of blocks away and this time because they know protesters will be around from my vantage point throughout the morning. it is heavier than it's ever been as far as a biden visit, he's been in the bay area many times. let me swing the camera over here. not only is president biden in town, you

overnight. firefighters battled a major fire at a commercial building. take a look at these images. this was at about 2 o'clock or so this morning on millman drive. these photos were shared by the fire department. they say when they got there, the fire was extending through the roof. fire was knocked out by about 3. so took them about an hour. fire crews are going remain on scene. they say throughout the morning just to monitor the activity, make sure there are no hot spots. no injuries were reported. >> 10, 0, 5 right now. and and you're going to fly into san francisco, which is francisco in oakland, which which san francisco? yeah, the naming can be confusing. now the port commissioners have unanimously approved the re-branding of oakland international airport to now be san francisco bay. >> oakland international airport, don't you short hand say san francisco bay eyes. that'll be confusing. and there's a battle over this. so maybe it won't happen. kron four's dan thorn has more. >> san francisco city attorney david chiu has already sued on behalf of the city. and on wednesday he sent a letter to the port of oakland urging

them to reconsider and instead have both maybe oakland and san francisco work together to come up with an alternative name. but the port of oakland moved ahead with their plans and they say that they'll also have a response to san francisco's lawsuit. there are now 2 bay area airports with the name san francisco in their title. >> a unanimous vote by the oakland port board thursday approved the switch from oakland international airport. to san francisco bay oakland international airport. nobody owns the san francisco bay and it is the most identify identifiable geographic indicator. and we happen to sit on the on the san francisco bay and we just want people to know where we are so they can come enjoy. >> our beautiful city port port president barbara lesslie, along with other commissioners, says the name change will increase the airport's visibility. >> well, also giving potential travelers more options in the bay area. and a name kings change can certainly do that.

that brings that knowledge for people past the mississippi to really understand where oakland sits in the greater bay area and also internationally, really a pub understanding from people from around the world where oakland is. >> in this greater bay area. but the city of san francisco does not want this new name to happen. a lawsuit claims that infringes on san francisco international airport's trademark in a statement to kron for the san francisco city attorney's office says it is disappointing that oakland chose to ignore our multiple offers to collaborate. >> an alternative names and avoid litigation. we have no choice but to move forward with next steps in our trademark lawsuit, port attorney barry richardson has requested for a declaratory judgment as a counterclaim to the lawsuit. she hopes the court will agree that san francisco bay is a geographic term and not exclusive to the city nor county of san francisco. we were not seeking money damages with that were only seeking a declaration from the court that we can continue to use the mark that

the board to support. some residents did voice their concerns before thursday's vote saying if there's going to be more air traffic, that's going to create more air pollution in the city. >> but business leaders and city leaders such as councilmember noel gallo said the name change is going to be good for the airport in oakland, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> 10, 0, 8, right now. and in the south bay found a baby surrounded by drugs. it was the biggest or one of the biggest fentanyl seizures ever. the authorities from 13 pounds of fentanyl under a baby's crib in a home in san jose. the raid that on wednesday they found 25,000 fentanyl pills in a backpack under the crib. they found marijuana just a few feet away from the baby's play pen and authorities found cocaine right next to the baby's formula in the kitchen. a child, i guess is ok, we haven't heard anything about that. we do know that the

baby's parents are in custody. 27 year-old octavia marino and 23 year-old crystal delgado. they are facing multiple charges. >> well, later this morning, governor gavin newsom is expected to unveil his updated budget for the upcoming fiscal year. and there are tough choices and decisions to be made. let's find out more now from kron four's michael thomas morning hey, good morning, everyone. a lot of decisions that were waiting to be announced in the next hour actually in this budget proposal by governor gavin newsom. >> it's also known as the may budget revision and will essentially give us a closer look at how the governor plans to spend the next fiscal year and really explain how his administration plans address the multibillion-dollar deficit. it's currently facing the non-partisan legislative analyst's office says that the state is currently facing a projected deficit about 73 billion dollars. now, governor gavin newsom says he believes that amount is actually much lower. and in today's presentation, he's likely to announce where he thinks the deficit stands and the plans he has to close that

gap. this could include cuts in different areas across the state, according to the associated press. this is actually the second year in a row that california has had this deficit and the state has avoided making major cuts in those things such as programs that are statewide and services. but it has made overall cuts and that was with one-time spending and delayed spending in other areas will also borrowing money from different counts. however, we spoke with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about this issue. take a listen. what they had to say. >> we know the revenues generally coming in lower than the forecast and that's concerning. and so we are prepared for some very difficult choices the bottom line is they're going have to make cuts. >> and it's really the democrats. they're in a bind because they made all these promises to people all these things. they said they're going to do and now they're going to have to break those promises because we simply don't have the revenue and the money to actually do undoubtedly the governor will make some additional loans and deferrals and perhaps even some significant budget cuts will be part of the may budget

building where the meeting took place. supporters argue the plan will benefit low income californians, but opponents say will hurt the very people. it was supposed to help the vote is 4, 0. the item passes with that vote. the california public utilities commission or cpsc approved a plan allowing major utility companies in the state, including pg and socal edison and san diego, gas and electric to impose a fixed charge on most of their customers, monthly utility bills. >> specifically the plan includes a new flat fee of $24.15 per month. coming up to about $290 per year. in return, the utilities will cut their electricity prices by 5 to $0.7 per kilowatt hour. supporters say the plan will help pay for grid maintenance and in the long run will make it more affordable for californians who need to use electricity for green technology like overnight electric vehicle charging backers also believe it low income californians noting per the plan those already enrolled in the low income, california alternate rates for energy program or care.

on the peninsula. 4 people have been arrested now after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the maguire correctional facility in redwood city. >> mateo county sheriff's office says they found meth in one of their inmates

possession. it was identified as for island. armenta is possession. it discovered during a rebooking process and investigators say they later learned that 3 other people who work in custody were involved in this attempt to smuggle in drugs. they were identified as guillermo flores, christopher marlowe and event. the duehren they were later booked and are now facing drug-related charges. >> 10 25 and for your money. a lot of money to be able to afford the rent in the bay area. we all know that zillow just done a study. so they're catching up with us and they found san jose is the most expensive you need to make $133,000. yellow says to be able to afford to rent comfortably and san jose. that's the most expensive city that they found in their study. san jose. this said the average spence 25% of their whole income on rent. san francisco came in at the 4th expensive for rent. they say that you need to make $121,000 to comfortably rent in san francisco. i just the woman

was convicted of stealing more than $60,000 worth of merchandise from the target at stonestown galleria little by little. 43 year-old graves, police say would take items off the shelves. go to the self-checkout scan every item and then just put in a small amount of money and leave. she didn't pay for everything. they followed her twice and surveilled her and she left the target and was seen then selling the goods at un plaza. the da's office confirms that she stole from target over the course of 120 visits between 2020 2021. and she was convicted of one felony count of grand theft. and 53 misdemeanor counts of pace >> we're going to take a break here at 10. 27 coming up next on the kron. 4 morning news and east bay neighborhood on alert now after a mail carrier robbed. gunpoint. we're going to show you more of this video.

ocean breeze to eventually at least moderate our temps a little bit. right now we're in the 60's to 70's. brett, what our first. but to get up to 80 degrees vacaville right behind you. now 80 as well. temperatures have been cooler than yesterday morning at this time. but you're starting to see less and less of a difference. now, moon bay, you'll be our most notable cooldown, coastal air beans and 11 degree cooler day for you. now, temperatures this afternoon rise as warm as the low 90's inland. some 60's and 70's at the coast right now. all right, well. we've been lure for most of the morning. >> we still don't have a reservoir live connection between richmond and macarthur. it's early or equipment issues on barton. so that started the ripple effect. but thankfully, we're not seeing any other lines being impacted. so the blue and yellow all get there. now they are offering the capitol corridor between that stretch so between richmond and that garth are you can also take bus. you can drive this morning. lot of people are deciding to drive. that's why we're looking at 80 still little red because people have

to take their car snobar option between that. so again, if you are just tuning in right now, no red or orange line between richmond and macarthur, the afternoon to get that issue resolve. but for now, it's not an option. darya. james, back to you. all right. thank you, rain. it's 10. 31. another mail carrier was robbed in the bay area's time. it happened in dublin. got kron four's. sara stinson speaking with neighbors about what happened. >> home security camera captures the terrifying moment. a mail carrier in dublin was robbed at gunpoint. this happened monday afternoon around 4.30, on a bespoke court video shows 2 masked men wearing all black approached the male woman. one point a gun at her dublin. police say the men demanded the carriers mailbox key and phone. you can see her go to the usps truck to get her phone and handed over. then the 2 men run off. thankfully, the male woman was not physically injured. neighbors called 9-1-1 and

police arrived shortly after to investigate. i went down to cul-de-sac. >> probably within 10 or 15 minutes after happen after seeing police in his neighborhood, mike grant went down to check it out. once he learned about the robbery, grant went to check his high-quality security camera system to see if it captured anything useful. >> that's when he saw what he believes to be the getaway car narrowed it down to this. a blue grants as police and the u.s. postal inspectors. investigators came by to get the video. he's lived in this dublin neighborhood for nearly 30 years and says only recently has there been a spike in crime. we've had a rash of crime on this west side of town. that's something that kind starts to wake me up. grant says he's been talking with neighbors about ways to protect their homes, to start putting some cameras up to help. >> and alarm systems and everything like that. be a little proactive is what i'm trying to tell people. he also attended the dublin city

council meeting tuesday to talk about the importance of security cameras, especially after monday's robbery. they got to start doing something. we >> have a lot of cameras in town, but they're not up in these neighborhoods. as for the mail carrier grant says he's checked in on her. she's going to take a month off of work to emotionally recover. you know, we're always out talking to her stuff like that. so she's kind of like family. >> so i stopped by just to make sure she was ok, i let her know that we're we're all thinking about the postal service is offering $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. i'm sara stinson reporting in dublin kron. 4 news. >> a bounty hunter is charged with murder for a fatal shooting that happened. the newark police confirm 49 year-old charles price of forest hill. and in another a bail bond agent, they were trying to find a man when they got into an altercation with him, there was an exchange of

gunfire and the man that they were looking for to arrest was shot and died at the hospital. he was identified as a 42 year-old bay area resident in richard turner in march. turner did not appear in court while he was on a felony weapons charges. they were pending. so that made him a fugitive. the da's office has charged price. now with one count of second-degree murder. >> east bay mother outraged after learning the drunk driver who hit and killed the father of her child will not serve a single day in prison. the victim greg turnage you see here died on mother's day back in 2021. he was out for a walk in oakland when a car veered onto the sidewalk and crashed into him behind the wheel was 67 year-old timothy home a wealth manager who lives in piedmont. he pleaded guilty to running from the scene, leaving the victim there to die and his own injured wife in the passenger seat. that wife told police that amount spent the day drinking in san francisco with

golf clubs and restaurants to celebrate mother's day before driving back to oakland. on wednesday, an alameda county, judge sentenced a model to a six-year term with 3 years credit for the time he's already served at home in piedmont. and as for the remaining 3 years, the judge ruled that the monica serve that at home as well. the victim's partner wasn't too happy about that. >> greg made the choice to make me breakfast in bed with arson and to take a walk. and timothy hermano make the choice to so that drinking and san francisco behind the wheel killing an innocent person. >> in court, breathes went on to saying, quote, the fact that you have successfully managed to sneak your way out of any real repercussions, only further complicates our grief and deepens our rage. she went on to say, quote, now you get to walk away from this with your life remain at home. be a part of your family's

lives and put this all behind. you is a brief inconvenience. how nice for you. we're walking away with an excruciating hole in our lives. no justice and no closure. and quote, free says they're now looking to file a civil suit against tomato. >> it's 10 36 and a man accused of running into 2 pcople with a car, including a 14 year-old girl during a police chase in san francisco. please not guilty. his arraignment was yesterday and it revealed more about rodney jefferson's past run-ins with the law and just how prosecutors >> say he hit that teen kron four's. dan kerman has the story. >> thursday afternoon, 54 year-old rodney jefferson pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident. reckless driving with great bodily injury, evading an officer and driving on a suspended license. the charges stem from his arrest tuesday for hitting 2 pedestrians and leading san francisco police on a chase across the city. authorities say tuesday morning's incident began with jefferson hitting

one person while doing donuts at market in jones and then leading police on a chase across town during that pursuit. prosecutors say jefferson hit a 14 year-old girl who was in a crosswalk outside francisco middle school. prosecutors say a vehicle was stopped to let the teenager cross. but jefferson drove around that car and hit her. the student will survive but has a broken ankle, a dislocated shoulder and bruising to the head during thursday's hearing jefferson made and inaudible outburst when prosecutors said he showed no remorse once arrested and instead went into a profane tirade about his driving skills. prosecutors also told the judge jefferson has 14 prior felony convictions, including one in 2018 for battery with injury on a school employee. the judge called tuesday's incident egregious and said releasing jefferson on bail was a clear risk to public safety. jefferson tried to speak up, but the judge
