gate. so things out there today are noticeably a little more enhanced than they were yesterday, which is giving us a cooling effect in our temperatures. just take a look at this view from mount tam yesterday. you're looking down at a very thin veil of that marine layer today. it's very thick. it's going to take a lot longer to burn off and it is pushing right through the golden gate. the carquinez into the delta having our biggest cooling effect actually in some of those for this to inland areas that resulted in a lot of mist and drizzle. in the meantime, closer to the coast to the berkeley hills spots like that right now, winds as much as 40 miles per hour, especially out into the delta and through the golden gate. so watch for some of those stronger gusts this morning. now temperatures are in the mid 50's currently oakland-alameda redwood city at 56 berkeley and san francisco at 54 right now. later today, a noticeable difference as far as temperatures go. more of us going to be in the 70's today than yesterday's low 80's. so still comfortable. don't get me wrong. will still get

world leaders and showcase his work as governor, which could play a role in his political future. should he decide to run for higher office? three-day su mit that he's at, it's all about bending the curve and bouncing forward to climate resilience. governor newsom spoke to a delegation of about 100 people in the room and that included the mayor of paris and the governor of new york. all that are calling for urgent climate action. newsom called the climate crisis a clear and present danger which is causing severe droughts, intense storms and historic wildfires have all been seen across california in the most recent years. and the governor didn't hold back when it came to calling out the fossil fuel industry. take a listen to what he had to say. >> this climate crisis, what it is the climate crisis is a fossil fuel crisis. the climate crisis is a fossil fuel crisis. it's because the burning of coal, the burning of gas and the burning of oil. and with respect and forgive me if this comes off a little

palestine. protesters taking over berkeley's and ahead complex wednesday afternoon. resisting with palestinians wed, the bravest strongest demonstrators refused to do an interview with kron 4 but did announce a list of 4 demands live. >> from people parked outside. all right. the painting caught happen. >> protesters set up tents, hung a palestinian flags and even spray painted the sidewalks in parts of the building. it's unclear if these are cal students are even berkeley residents. this protest does fall on the 55th anniversary of people's park which is being turned into new housing for students and

coming to an agreement with pro palestinian demonstrators on that campus without getting permission from the university. first. so in a letter sent out tuesday, president mike lee said he listen to protesters demands and that, quote, none of us should be on the sidelines when human beings are subject to mass killing and destruction, end quote, we went on to announce that sonoma state would look at the vi sting from israel and would end an exchange program with that country. protestors applauded the announcement. however, the university's leadership was not please. state senator scott wiener also weighed in. >> what i saw the announcement from the president of sonoma state. my jaw drops absolutely unacceptable. what sonoma state is proposing to do is to basically blocks list israeli academics. it's a complete academic. we caught it any kind of student exchange between sonoma state

universities in throughout. >> well, leave released a new statement backtracking on his decision saying, quote, in my attempt to find agreement with one group of students, i'm marginalized. other members of our student population and community. i realize the harm that this has caused and i take full ownership of it and quote, now he did go on to say the initial letter was sent without the approval of the university system's chancellor and board leaders. the csu chancellor also put out a statement saying the heart and mission of csu is to create an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. >> the there always the support. and with that, oakland's new police chief is officially sworn-in. mayor sheng thao sharing this video on social media. and you can see this for the new chief in to ensure a seamless transition. he started the job on saturday. the mayor says that public swearing-in

sitting currently. we do have fog in the bay shore as well as some of our inland spots. but warmth still winds out later today as to sunshine, just going to take longer to get there, not quite as hot as yesterday and looking at the entire west coast, but especially the bay area in california. we do have a cooler than normal temperature trend to carry us into next week as well. so not a lot of huge changes here. certainly no heat spikes ahead of us. we are seeing some mist and drizzle this morning, especially near the coastline up in the mountains near the coast and even out towards berkeley. we'll see skies clearing out this afternoon. but still a rip roaring sea breeze that makes its way through the golden gate. the turkey is in the delta in this having a moderating impact on all of our temperatures. each of the next several days. today's daytime highs will be subtly cooler than yesterday's again. no huge changes here. but for a lot of our inland spots, especially this is going to take us further down into the 80's and in some cases back down in the 70's

south bay temps, you are the same as yesterday. one of our spots that really isn't saying much of a change. well, hey, we're at 74 dublin up to concord, all down in the 70's, oakland, up to richmond in the 60's. vacaville are biggest change from yesterday's 89 to just 80 degrees today. looking ahead tomorrow as temperatures even cooler yet starting a trend of 70's on average for inland areas. bayshore cities remain solidly in the low 70's all the way through this forecast. reyna harvey standing by with a look roads. what's the latest john? we've been tracking this accident. a car fire along south on 8.80, at alvarado. niles. that's in union city. as you can see, all the red and back up there. mission boulevard. but you good option for you if you're trying navigate and get around that caltrans camera showing us the back of their and all those headlights. everybody stop in. if you can see right there, that fire truck also trying to put that fire out of that car. >> it's going to be a little time for able to get that out of the way put the fire out and then move that to the side. >> a 15 minute ride into the

according to the center for disease control 107,000 people overdose last year. most of them from opiodds. now as far as narcan, the drug, whether it's generic or the name brand, it helps restore breathing whenever somebody overdoses by allowing the generic brand, it's going to be walgreens brand. they can have access to it without the stigma of going up to a pharmacist and asking for narcan. not to mention that convenience. it will be sold for around $35 store-brand a lot cheaper than the name brand which is about $45. and that is being offered on line as far as walgreen is concerned. they say they are rolling it out in about 2 weeks from now. you can get it online. but if you want to come down here, you can have it. and a lot of people are encourage, especially in certain communities that you might want to have it on. you just in case overdose in somebody else will know that you carry it. they can jump in

>> now her goal is to raise $200,000 for a down payment. if she's going to have to move, which she believes she will. she understands that that's a lot of money. but she wants to do it and keep serving the community. >> well, the family of angelo quinto reached a multimillion dollar settlement with the city of antioch that 30 year-old died in police custody back in 2020. his family says he was having a mental health crisis when they called for help. as part of the settlement approved by the city council tuesday night, the family will be awarded 7 and a half million dollars. civil rights attorney john burris says the case has a potential now to save other people like him >> given the new mindset that has developed here in this city some of the other cities around that we won't have seeking help families seeking help losing their loved ones at a time when different form interaction, intrusive form, a less aggressive form i could could have resolved it differently.

the california public utilities commission recently approved a plan to oppose a new flat fee on utility bills for many californians. but now a new effort is going through the legislature to reduce that fee in coming years if signed assembly bill 1999, would prevent any new fee increase from exceeding the rate of inflation and would prohibit the cpu see from imposing a fix charge greater than $10 per month after the summer of 2028. that's far lower than the monthly fixed charge of $24.15 that the cpu see approved last week for most customers. as part of that plan, the utilities agreed to reduce their prices by 5 to $0.7 per kilowatt hour in a move that supporters say will save californians money. but the cpu sees plan may be short lived because the assembly, utilities and energy committee voted wednesday afternoon, 9 to nothing to advance this new proposal to limit the fixed charge. we're afraid that. >> people will have a disincentive to do things like turn off the lights, lower the thermostat and summer and also

attorney pamela price and supporters with protect the wind for public safety gathering in oakland defending her time as district attorney 2 weeks ago. the alameda county board of supervisors certify the signatures required for recall tuesday evening. they voted that recall will be part of the general election in november. the recall effort coming from a committee called save alameda for everyone da prize addressing what she believes has been misinformation disseminated about her. we will tell the truth and we will counteract the lies and the misinformation campaign. >> that has been amplified by certtin folks in the media and certain people. there's been a whole lot of misinformation. price says she will continue to do her job as district attorney while campaigning saying that the people in 2023 took to the polls to vote her in. >> it was the first time in 45 years since there was a contested election. >> the people of alameda county went to the polls to elect a district attorney for

the first time since 9, the mid 1970's in over 45 years. we have not had a contested election. i'm the first non appointed non anointed district attorney in this county in 100 and so the people exercise their democratic right to elect a district attorney and we won that election has ms gets said fair and square with 53% of the vote. >> behind a price, a group of supporters and volunteers. he raised parents they're just hating on for no apparent reason she's doing her job. alameda county says combining the recall election with the general election will cost 4 million dollars as opposed to between 15 20 million dollars. it would cost to hold a special election. the decision to go by the 2 was supported by prize price, reiterating that the alameda county registrar of voters did not follow the charter, saying the recall process was in

legal reporting. tiffany justice kron, 4 news 6.33. the time in the north bay, a disturbing find inside a home in rio vista has left retirement community shaken. >> an elderly woman's body was found by police. the suspected killer apparently is her own son. now, earlier this week, officers went to a home on birch ridge drive, which is where the trilogy retirement community is. they say concern neighbors have called about a local woman who they hadn't seen for several days. officers arrived to the home where she lived and were met at the door by her. 57 year-old son jeffrey and can now things quickly escalated from there. police say when at ken tried to physically stop them from checking the house after he was detained. that's when officers went in and made the grim discovery of his 78 year-old mother. >> in my experience as a veteran law enforcement officer, normal people do not kill their mothers. it's a very violent crime. it's one of the, you know, still one of

planning commission approved new housing for low-income senior farm workers. this after governor newsom had threatened legal action over delaying the plan, the 40 unit affordable housing project will move forward. now it and spent about a year since the deadliest shooting in the nation's history happened there. the governor met with survivors of that shooting and their families. he toured what we're trying to be deplorable, living conditions for the farm workers. he has budgeted millions in funding and resources to ensure the workers get the support they need from the state. >> well, los altos police department now warning people about an uptick in burglaries at home construction sites and unoccupied homes for sale. police say these thieves are stealing appliances, staged in these homes and ones that were delivered to construction sites and that these crimes tend to happen at night or early in the morning. so they're urging people to lock their doors and windows and sent home alarms and utilize whatever security devices they may have. well in san pablo,

an oakland woman is arrested after allegedly stealing a taco truck in so police they responded to a call about this talk of truck being stolen and within the hour, police found it on the other side of town. the woman was discovered inside rummaging through things and confessed to those officers that she stole it because she was hungry the taco truck was returned to its owner. >> it's 6.36 and the fbi is warning about threats targeting the lgbtq+ community during pride month. we have kron four's dan kerman reporting. now these threats are coming from terrorists. >> san francisco's pride parade is a little over a month away. but pride events begin the first of june. not only here in the bay area, but in various cities across the u.s. now, this year's pride events come with a warning from the fbi and homeland security, the foreign terrorists or their u.s. base supporters, a target lgbtq venues and events. isis

berkeley have taken over a building near people's park. this all started about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. group says they're demanding freedom of palestinians and amnesty for all political activists. san francisco mayor london breed is dropping out of next week's mayoral debate. that debate is being hosted by the nonprofit group together sf organizers say mayor breed originally agreed to participate, even made several changes to the schedule. the debate is set to happen next. monday. the other confirmed candidates will be there. will the county for the contra costa county fair starts today. lot of fun out there at the fairgrounds in antioch. it's going to run until may 19. there will be an extreme sport zone. a carnival, obviously a lot of food as well and a livestock pavilion. you can buy tickets for the fair online. the popular santa cruz brewery also coming up here, 39 in san francisco. check it out. the humble see brewing company put up this coming soon. banner. >> over a boarded-up storefront there at the pier.
