forward. we'll take a look at that coming up. just ahead. >> and from hot dogs to traffic cones bay to breakers has come and gone. but costumes live on. >> from the bay station. you're watching kron. at noon. >> and thank you for joining us on kron. 4 news at noon. i'm theresa stasi. adjusting woman has the day off. developing news in the south bay. a man accused of firing a gun near a saint is a apartment complex is in the hospital after being shot by police kron. 4 s charles clifford is live at the scene, telling us more details about what happened out there. >> well, good afternoon. the police departmint just wrapped up their investigation here in east san jose. about 5 minutes there they are now planning to hold a press conference this afternoon give us more information as the suspect in this case remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. >> just after 4 sunday

afternoon, san jose police officers arrived here at the 2700 block of coal. more drive on reports of a man firing a gun in the area. police department says that the officers ended up shooting the suspect. was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no officers were injured in the suspect's weapon was recovered from the scene during the investigation into the shooting, a large area around this apartment comnlex was closed down overnight and well into monday morning. police also closely examined a silver minivan parked near the apartments. it a san jose police department cruiser were eventually taken away from the scene as of midday monday. the identities of the suspect in the officers involved in this case have not been made public. it's also not clear why the gunman was firing a weapon in the neighborhood. the san jose police department's office of internal affairs and the santa clara county district attorney's office are also involved in this investigation. >> all right, back live now again, the police department hoping to as planning to have a press conference with the media this afternoon about 3

o'clock. hopefully we'll get more information and then. but for now in san jose, charles clifford kron, 4 news. >> that the man could have convicted of attacking paul pelosi at his san francisco home in 2022. will be re sentenced later this month. david de pap received a 30 year prison sentence on friday. but the federal court did not give pap the chance to make a statement before sentencing. that is a requirement for federal criminal procedures. prosecutors notified the court after realizing their mistake, the error is unlikely to affect his 30 year sentence. but it does does give them the chance to ask for leniency. the hearing resumes on may 28th to pappas still facing a separate criminal trial. jury selection for that is scheduled to start on wednesday. a somber day for raider nation. mister rader himself, jim otto passed away yesterday, the hall of fame center joined the team for its first season in the american

also with alex on the hike and is missing as well. let's talk about our forecast as we take a live look outside. you can see mount tam got a lot of kind of pretty clouds. they're out for meteorologist kyla grogan is here with the details. is it going to are we going to still have some fog out you know, we're actually kind of fog free today, obviously, except for the coast a little bit. wanted to talk. temperatures for second is a long-range forecast and where you see the areas in red in orange. that's what expecting above average temperatures over the next 3, 4 weeks, right? >> and we're looking at precipitation of the bottom. we're not too concerned about that. notice. we are either going to be in the greater the blue meaning average or slightly below average for the next say 2, 3, weeks. and the reason i'm telling you that is that today and the next couple of days are gorgeous and you're going want to get out and enjoy that because we've got a big cool down coming once we head towards the weekend. but take a look at those blue skies a quite hour. we've got some gorgeous temperatures out there already livermore concord in the 70's. same story in santa rosa sitting at 73. cool out of the

coast. that's where the clouds are. certainly hang out a little bit today, but not much. this is storm tracker 4. you can see it doesn't look like there's anything going more layers, kind of pulled down now still in parts of central and southern california. but we're looking good. even half moon bay getting a little bit of that. nice blue sky out there. so highs today. we'll be at or above average for most particularly inland. we could see a couple of those 80's out there i think will be mostly mid to upper 70's, but really nice around the bay itself. some low 70's looking at for about 66 in san francisco. as you can see, half moon bay right now getting some nice sunshine there, too. and tomorrow is our warmest day of the week. we're going to see some lovely temperatures wednesday, looking good as i mentioned, this all breaks down as we get to friday. so we'll talk about that when come back. we'll take a look at your extended forecast. thank you very much. more than 21,000 people participated san francisco's annual bay to breakers race over the weekend. every year people dress up in fun costumes and

make their way across the city to ocean beach. >> kron 4 sarah stinson was there for us. >> thousands of people woke up early sunday for bay to breakers. race is 113 year-old tradition in san francisco. you know, i think it's probably one of the the longstanding traditions in san francisco participants gathered on main street around 8 in the morning to walk jog and run to ocean beach on the other end of the city, was like super positive energy. it's his first is yeah, it was fantastic time. definitely saw all of san francisco come together. a lot of the clock ticked rooms, the costumes at the quirky 12 k run never disappoint this san francisco couple. gina and brad dressed up as hot dogs. we money and really recognizable really ran the whole race and everyone was dog and my kids than ever.

and it's just plain that these girls dressed up as the inflatable tube man. often people dress up in group costumes, whether it be traffic cones or minions was really fun. everyone came out out it's a super >> yeah, really good vibe. lots of partying on the side. bay to breakers at its peak used to be the largest road race in the world with 100,000 people participating. race director kyle meyers says they're starting to see registration numbers rebound from the pandemic. 21,000 people registered this year, which is after back, you know, 20% from last year. so not quite. >> pre-pandemic numbers yet, but definitely trending in the right direction. meyer says they work to ensure everyone is safe while having fun with alcohol checkpoints along the route and patrols. yeah, we have our own private security companies and then we work with very, very closely with sfpd crews could be seen cleaning up as people continue to party in the panhandle.

biden gave the commencement address at morehouse college. a historically black college in atlanta later that evening, the president traveled to detroit, michigan, speaking at a dinner for the naacp. both events highlight the president's drive to keep black and minority voters. not only engaged but willing to vote in november. it's a key constituency. the president knows he needs in order to win this november. but recent polling in several swing states shows the president slipping with his approval ratings among black voters in the meantime, former president donald trump addressed the annual nra convention in dallas this weekend. gun rights remain a major issue for many conservative voters. the former president casting himself as a major ally of gun owners and urging them to vote in november. he also received the endorsement of the nra. the weekend's events highlight the strategies. both candidates are expected to maintain through november. your matter. >> you're let's clear. because of your vote. is here as

>> the nonprofit group, faith food fridays in vallejo is struggling to meet demand and support local families as kron four's philippe djegal reports food donations are way down. >> every little bit helps neighbors dropping off food donations. corporations offering cash, volunteers giving their and a dedicated couple committed to fighting hunger in vallejo. it's really the community driving this and and supporting it. that makes it happen. mary and dogs and her husband, benjamin co-founded faith, food fridays in 2011. >> the non profit accepts donation drop-offs and offers volunteer opportunities. 7 days a week at its pantry on salon away. it hosts food, distributions 3 times a week

giving out at least 10,000 pounds of food. on those days, we would never in our entire history. you run out of food after distribution. and we've done that consistently for the last 4 months eggs says it has been a struggle lately. keeping the refrigerators school and even the lights turned because donations all around are down. despite the demand for services jumping at least 50% since the start of the pandemic, monetarily and food supplies. plus, we a lot of volunteers behind me, but we need more faith food, fridays partners with the food bank of contra costa in-salon serving as a distributor. the organization also provides groceries to homeless vallejo city unified school district's students to keep them fed when schools closed. >> school district academic support providers here logan pix, the food every week and the 2 of them look forward to it. and it's not just because they receive a bad, but i believe because it does them.

forecast on. but we've got lots of beautiful sunshine out there. you can even see, even though there are a few clouds hang out the coast, half moon bay get some sunshine, too. san jose looking good in san francisco. same story. lots of sun. high pressure is pretty far off the coast but it is president f kind of help us out. plus, we've got what's happening here in northerly flow of wind. and that is helping to bring in a little bit of warmth today tomorrow, even as we get into wednesday that northerly flow is what you see when you take a look at the wind directions here, right? so even though we don't have a high wind right now, you do start to see a little bit of that influence of what's helping to warm us up a bit. and we look at the difference of temperatures between 24 hours ago and now and with the exception of mountain view in san jose. you can see we're running a little bit warmer already, right? in most spots today. so temperatures right now in my 70's club is growing very quickly, san jose to 69, but dublin livermore, fremont conquered pittsburgh fairfield nevado petaluma my goodness said a resident 73. lots of folks in the 70's already. still a little cool here in san francisco about 63. but if we look at where we're going today compared to normal. so

this is normal, right? so inland should be those mid to upper 70's. that's about we're going to be today and around the bay looking out for some of the 60's. so for the most part about where we should be this time of year now, i mentioned that tomorrow is going to be a warmer day, which means also that we'r% not going to be seeing a whole lot of marine layer with this pattern. so this is tonight and then we get into tomorrow morning and you can see barely anything right showing up in the way of fog. that means you get to see the beautiful moon at night. i saw that last night was looking really good. last night. and you also get to wake up to a little more sunshine in the mornings. so tomorrow, the warmest day of the week, we're going to stay pretty nice there, wednesday and thursday by friday, it's all going to change folks as we head towards the weekend that marine layer rolling back in setting us up for a much cooler weekend. as you can see, temperatures getting down below 70 degrees for inland spots as we get into saturday. back to you. thank you very much. well, if you want to keep your pets good and healthy hospital visits can get pretty expensive. right? getting pet insurance might be something you might want to consider. david luiz artist takes a deeper look for us.

palo alto police are investigating a robbery of a mail carrier. this happened thursday in the parking lot of the southwood apartments on middlefield road. police say that 60 year-old postal worker was delivering mail when 2 men approached him and demanded his postal keys and personal belongings. the postal worker turned over the keys, but he refused to up his personal items. police say that a fistfight ensued and the thieves, not the victim to the ground, injuring him. police say that the 2 robbers took off in an older model. nissan altima. well, a sky-high rescue after a man was thrown from his car that went over a cliff off the sonoma coast. the crash happened yesterday morning and the jewel gulch myers, great area. that's right. near jenner. the sonoma county sheriff's office releasing this video. they say that a ranger found the car about 200 feet down from the roadway with only a large tree, stopping it from rolling even further. no one was in the car. and then after searching for about 45

as we take a live look outside at sfo kyler. you're going to go to you know, i don't have plans to go, but i do have friends who are going and i think we'll be ok with the weather, although it will be cooler this weekend. then it is this first couple of days of this week. that's for sure. >> let's take a look at temperatures around the state. monterey, obviously hanging out of that marine layer a little bit longer there. 59 degrees. we're at 66 in la 70's as we look from bakersfield all the way up to reading and just wanted to show you phoenix 90 degrees. other warming up in the southwest a little bit too. >> we do have a little bit of haze out there and that can be attributed to both a little bit of marine layer. >> and also the fact that we do have a little bit of a slip in air quality right now. it's not bad, but i do want to show you in san francisco nevado oakland down in san jose. we've kind of slipped into the yellow there. so not expecting anything extreme, but just a heads up. if you're sensitive to air quality. meanwhile, beautiful out here as we take a live look at coit tower. you can see these temperatures are quite nice. san francisco, 60 degrees. 66 in oakland, san jose flirting with 70. not quite yet there, but we're there and livermore, concord,

dealing with the upper 80's low 90's for the rest of this week. obviously a little bit cooler as we head over towards the west coast and certainly a lot cooler in the pacific northwest today, things are relatively calm in texas. we're looking out for a little bit of weather to start kicking up as you get to tomorrow. tornado threat that will be in parts of the midwest. parts like iowa, illinois, and into missouri. now we're obviously looking a lot better here on the west coast. as far as quiet weather is concerned, right? we don't have a lot of dramatic weather right now and that's a good thing. you have to go all the way over to salt lake city, utah start to see some of that stormy weather. what we've got is sunshine and it is beautiful out there and what we've also got nice temperatures, though, today, plenty of sunshine to go around for everyone. the clouds cleared out for the most part of the coast has a little bit hanging on, but not much. to be honest, you see just a little trace of that marine layer there, but lots of sunshine as we get into tomorrow. that will be our warmest day of the week. those inland 80's will be present and plenty of them. and then as we head towards the weekend, a big change in our weather as we start to see a front come through doesn't
