evidence that was found this afternoon. eric? >> reporter: right. they found his truck but still the most pressing question right now is where is chris dorner, we are hearing reports that authorities found fresh traction in the snow that they are looking into near big bear. he has killed three people, including one officer and it is happening after he posted a chilling 20 page manifesto. >> reporter: a burned out pick up in big bear in southern california belonged to chris dorner. police say the former los angeles police department officer rampage continued this morning when he ambushed two police officers, killing one of them. >> a vehicle pulled up next to them and the driver of that vehicle fired multiple rounds from a rifle. >> reporter: another officer was crazed in a shoot out with

chris dorner. in a manifesto he wrote i will bring unconventional warfare to those in los angeles police department uniform on or off duty. he was fired fired for making false statements when he accused a fellow officer of kicking a suspect. on sunday chris dorner killed a couple in urviver, including -- irvine, including an officer's daughter. chris dorner imp limited himself when he -- implicated himself. he said this sanecessary eveil i -- this is a necessary evil i do not enjoy. the department was so on edge officers on the look out this morning opened fire on a pick up, injuring two people who were not involved. >> tragically we believe this was a case of mistaken identity

by the officers. >> reporter: now among those mentioned in chris dorner's manifesto is bill bratton who is now a consultant for the oakland police department. we are putting together what he said it say about bratton for 530 and if anything breaks we will have it for you live. eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the search for chris dorner has lead to a naval facility in southern california being put on lock down. s.w.a.t. teams swarmed over point loma today. officials say chris dorner staid in a hotel on the base on tuesday night. they say chris dorner left the navy and may have military identity. officials do not believe chris dorner is still on the base but say that facility will remain locked down till he is caught. >> law enforcement is using a key tool to alert the public about the man hunt for chris

dorner. it is called a bluelert. ktvu's rob roth -- blue alert. ktvu's rob roth has more. for the california highway patrol and law enforcement the blue alert is still active as the man hunt continues. >> reporter: if you were driving on freeways this morning you may have seen signs like this which the chp call as bluelert. it urged anyone -- blue alert it urged anyone who saw the truck to call authorities. the california highway patrol allowed us to ride with them. each has a picture of chris dorner and his truck incase he was headed this way from southern california. >> if we run across a vehicle. >> reporter: the blue alert is similar to a amber alert.

the alert growsitute law enforcement and the -- goes out to law enforcement and the public and the media. >> we have a lot of motorists who read the signs, listen to the news. >> reporter: another reason, the public could be in danger. >> this individual has shown a high propensity for violence and shooting and killing law enforcement personnel. so that is a public safety threat. if he would shoot uniform law enforcement he may also shoot innocent civilians. >> reporter: this is the third time the california highway patrol issued a blue alert in two years. rob roth, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the bluelert asks -- blue alert asks the public to be on alert. chris dorner is 33 years old, african american. 6 feet tall, 270 pounds. the california highway patrol says he is armed and dangerous.

going to be killed. john? >> reporter: you can see behind me the force that was used to start this home invasion. a shoe print where they kicked in the door. the family showed us the damage. >> actually bullet is still in there. >> reporter: he took us around the home where hours earlier when two gunman burst in. >> i am shaken up. my brother just got shot, my mom got shot. >> reporter: he was at work but his brother and mother and his sister were all shot by the invaders. >> they were all carrying guns. and basically the intention was to kill everybody in the family. they didn't take nothing. >> reporter: it was this morning when they broke into the home near highway 37. the brother was shot in the face and most seriously injured. the mother was shot in the hip

and sister grazed in the finger. >> my mom is okay but i worry about my brother a lot because the hospital, doctor said he will be in for a while. >> reporter: police don't know what prompted the attack. >> there is nothing to indicate this was targeted. there are no indications of that so we are treating it as a random act. >> the gunman are described as one latino man and one african american man in their 20s. they are still on the loose after this random crime. live, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. happening now, community activists are marching through san francisco's mission district in support of the student arrested last month. these are live pictures. two dozen protesters. they say officers beat him during the arrest. they are headed to the police

station. by standards took this video on the right hand side of the screen. officers struggling with clark. police officials responded to the allegations today sayingclerk had just assault -- saying clark had just assaulted someone. as they tried to detain him he refused to stop and walked away. we spoke with the sergeant, he continued to resist the officers and the officers engaged in a struggle with him on the ground and they have reviewed the video and they haven't seen anything unreasonable with what the officers did. officers asked him if he was injured or wanted medical attention, they said he said no. officers sited him and released him. we will keep news chopper two above the scene. the investigators are looking for the cause of a house fire in san jose. it started at 1:30 a.m.

south of 880. a neighbor shot this cell phone video as the flames gutted the house. firefighters had to back off when the roof collapsed and one neighbor thought his house was burning. >> firefighters were spraying water on top of my house to keep embers off. there was like 5 fire instruction. i grabbed my baby and ran. >> firefighters say the home was empty after renters moved out and owners were planning to renovate it. san jose police continue to search for a suspect who stole a police van and dumped it a mile away. officers say they picked up the man on a probation violation and linked two sets of handcuffs because he is so large and he moved to the driver's seat and took off.

he weighs about 250 to 275 pounds and last seen wearing black pants and wearing a gray shirt. an investigation into the cause of a fire today that destroyed a contra costa county home. the fire broke out about 8:45 a.m. in contra costa county. when firefighters arrived the house was in flames. the homeowner was inside when the fire started but escaped without injury. investigators say the fire started in a back bedroom and appears to be caused by accident. the district attorney took steps to beef up the battle against human trafficking. in a ceremony at the youth center george gascon signed a memorandum of understanding to support victims. authorities say it is important for victims to know they won't be treated as criminalsinals and they set up a hot line for

today they identified the woman as a 24-year-old. police haven't said where the woman lived. mother who lied to police about someone trying to snatch her child is facing a criminal charge. she turned herself in to police on monday. she is facing falsely reporting a crime. she admitted the story about someone trying to take her kid was a hoax. tonight she is free on bail. the california supreme court upheld the death penalty for a man convictedf murdering two -- convicted of murdering two women. corey williams was sentenced in the killings of maria corrieo and her daughter gina roberts. he and two other men were robbing them when he shot them. they rejected his argument. yoo-hoo is entering -- yahoo is entering into
