questions from an east bay family in shock tonight and innocent mother killed during a police chase in hercules, and today her six year old son was taken off life support at children's hospital. oakland good evening. i'm julie julie haener mike mibach tonight . the heartbroken family wants answers. ktvu is evan sernoffsky spoke with them just moments after they received the devastating news. he was sold so precious. he played a lot. he loved to be the one that likes to go outside family is grieving monday after six year old jamari humble was taken off life support at oakland children's hospital. it's the latest blow for this east bay community after the boy's mother, 31, year old or annika, was killed thursday. it happened after the driver of a stolen mazda suv slammed into the family's car in hercules twin brother survived with a broken leg. we're dealing with the loss. not only just

monica, but tamari. his brother needs him. but he's no longer here. video of the crash shows the driver speeding down parker avenue and slamming into the family's car. the suspect later identified as ralph white, the third got out and fled police he was captured at a nearby liquor store and is being held in jail . really tragic. it's sad in every sense of the word um and no more heart goes out to the family. nika grew up in richmond before attending sacramento state. she worked as a social worker in sacramento, where the family lived. the boy's father is now left to pick up the pieces. he was surrounded by family members as his son died at the hospital. now we have the dad here that only have one son. he wanted to take both of his children's home today because he already lost his left one. and now he only just have one family question why police were pursuing the vehicle at high

run. it happened at about seven o'clock last night. police say the driver of a green or blue four door honda hit a mother, her daughter and their dog near blossom hill road and lee avenue in the bellwood neighborhood. investigators say the victims were in across walking that the driver ran a red light. hit them and then drove away. the vehicle that was utilized in this hit and run was located just out of san jose. borders has been recovered, and it's just moments away from discovering who the driver was. so i take this opportunity to urge that person who knows very well what happened to come to the police department and turn themselves in. 45 year old k lemon of love loss. cotto's was killed her daughter escaped with only minor injuries. their dog, however, also died. police say the person driving at the time faces charges for felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter. late night shooting in vallejo killed two men. a third person was injured and transported to a hospital that's happened at a gas station on the corner of

ulevard. the laser still searching for the shooter. ktvu crime reporter henry lee live tonight in the newsroom with the latest henry michael igoe. police are trying to find whoever is responsible and y three men ended up getting shot. gas station regulars tell me. unfortunately they're not surprised by the violence, shooting at a vallejo gas station left two men dead and a third wounded. it happened at the royal gas station at tennessee and sonoma boulevard at about 10 50 sunday night. officers arrived and found three men suffering from gunshot wounds. one man died at the scene. a second died at the hospital. the third man was taken to a hospital. police have not determined a motive and are trying to find the gunman. the shooting was caught on surveillance video, a gas station customer who saw the video tells me the victims were standing near some gas pumps when someone fired at them from a nearby corner. beach just started moving towards the gas station itself and were shot. they went down real quick. he and others. we spoke to say the

shot and killed the suspect who was armed with assault type rifles this afternoon, authorities released the names of the six people killed. they are 60 year old katherine coons , who was the head of that school 61 year old cynthia peek a substitute teacher and 61 year old mike hill custodian there. the three children who died or evelyn deck house, halle scruggs and william kenny all age nine. box news. jonathan siri has more she entered the school through a side entrance. and traversed her way from the first floor to the second floor, firing multiple shots. a 28 year old woman opens fire inside a private christian elementary school in nashville, killing three children and three staff members before being shot and killed by police. it happened monday morning at the covenant school presbyterian school of some 200 students ranging from preschool to sixth grade. according to police. the first report of shots fired came

in around 10 13 am minutes later, a team of officers responded and began clearing the building when the officers got to the second level, they saw a shooter and female who was firing the officers engaged her. she was fatally shot. by responding police officers. five of the victims, three children and two adults were rushed to the hospital and were later pronounced dead. nashville police say no one else was hurt . and while it's still unclear how the woman is connected to the school, police say she was heavily armed with two assault rifles and a handgun monday afternoon, president biden sent his condolences to the families impacted and also called on congress to do more to stop gun violence. it's heartbreaking. family's worst nightmare. we have to do more to stop gun violence. it's ripping our communities apart, ripping us soulless nation. police say

they're now investigating a motive and reviewing surveillance video from the school in atlantic often, siri fox news. second suspect now in custody following a shooting at a sikh temple in sacramento. investigators say the shooting happened during an altercation. between three men yesterday they were attending a parade but are not involved with the temple. investigators say one suspect reportedly pulled a gun and shot a man that man's friend then retaliated and shot the first suspect. he ran from the temple and was located and arrested last night. the sacramento county sheriff's department says the first shooter who was taken to the hospital will likely be arrested once medically cleared. caltrans closely watching the hillside in nirvana. tonight is another storm is about to hit the bay area. officials say this next round of wet and windy weather could destroy possibly three major pieces of infrastructure interviews. tom vacar live tonight in nevada , right there along one on one with the story, tom. and the wind has picked up and it's gotten cooler, which means that

lisa suffered from chronic and degenerative health issues, the zoo says it is just the latest misfortunate has had to deal with over the last few months. kate reviews brooks jarocz in studio tonight with a look at the challenges the zoo has faced and the plan here moving forward brooks jarocz ooh has not only lost a beloved elephant has lost a lot of money millions because of storm related closures. it has been one thing after the next and with another round of rain and wind on the way the zoo just announced it will be closed yet again tomorrow. for more than 40 years, lisa has called the oakland zoo home. but for the last decade the african elephant has suffered from degenerative arthritis despite therapy, medication and treatments. her care team made the difficult decision to ease her discomfort by humanely euthanizing her sometimes in

to safety after officials say they ignored road closure signs. and got stuck in flood waters yesterday, drone footage from the sheriff's office shows the people on the roof of their partially submerged vehicle. they were rescued by the tulare county water rescue team, according to cal fire. several evacuation orders were in place for it to larry county, caltrans will be closing lanes on highway 17 through the santa cruz mountains through april. 7th. offer storm clean up the lane closures will affect stretch of highway between blossom hill road and summit. road crews will be working during daylight hours to remove damaged and fallen trees weekdays between nine in the morning to three o'clock in the afternoon. caltrans is warning drivers who use 17 to expect delays in the hard hit. monterey county community of haro crew started picking up debris and trash today left behind from the recent storms that flooded the entire town. officials say the cleanup process will take several weeks . part of the process is clearing the sidewalk so residents can then put out more damaged items for pick up two weeks ago, a levee breached on

children monday san jose police chief anthony mata giving greater detail into a hostage standoff last wednesday that became a fatal officer involved shooting, investigators say suspect elio bert gonzalez rocha returned to the point in garden apartments after having been recently evicted. police say he was armed with a high pressure pellet gun that looked like a real gun. two machetes and the pipe. he allegedly broke into unit seven in an erratic search for the keys to his old apartment. this man who doesn't want his identity revealed lives in unit seven with his wife and two sons. understand my wife and kids are very nervous because we had never seen the aggressor before. it was a random attack, and he just chose our house. but the problem i think was with the complex managers because he kept asking for her and saying her name investigators say the female victim her seven year old son in a closet. then gonzalez rocha forced her to tire 17 year old son with an electric cord,

then forced both to neil. police merged unit officer broke through a back bedroom window took action just in time to save the hostages. officer observed. the suspect raised the machete towards the family. and fired at least one round, striking the suspect. gonzalez rocha was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. there's nothing that can prepare someone for an experience like the one the chief just articulated home. thankful beyond words that this situation did not end in horrifying tragedy. investigators don't know why gonzalez rocha went to this specific unit looking for keys to an apartment. he was already evicted from the family that spent 50 minutes locked in terror says they're now looking for a new place to live. they're still in fear because it's been hard for them to forget. it was a traumatic event. investigators are checking into the suspect's mental health history, and they're also trying to determine where he got his weapons,

particularly that fake gun the pellet gun that was actually looked like a real gun. we're live outside san jose police headquarters this evening just to gary ktvu. fox news right back to you up in oakland hearts go out to that mother and her two sons. they will never forget. what happened, jesse. thank you. campbell police officer who was struck by a bullet during an eight hour standoff with a barricaded man in gilroy is in stable condition tonight. the santa clara county sheriff's office was called for a welfare check at home on dryden avenue in gilroy. this was around eight o'clock yesterday morning when deputies arrived. they say they try to make contact with the man inside the house, later identified as 35 year old vincent martinez. investigators say martinez shot multiple rounds toward deputies and officers, striking the campbell police officer who was there for mutual aid. the suspect, who was shot by law enforcement is in stable condition at a hospital and now faces charges of attempted murder of a peace officer. dashcam video capturing what could have been a disaster. take a look at this. it happened on a

freeway just north of los angeles. the front tire from a truck. somehow falls off and shoots out in front of that passing car that sends the car flying into the air and then crashes down on its roof before rolling over and skidding to a stop. it happened last week, and, incredibly, the chp says the driver of that car was not seriously hurt, and the truck driver was not hurt either. more than a dozen branches of the now former silicon valley bank reopened under new ownership today. north carolina based bank agreed to take over a large share of what was left of svb. the sale closed overnight. ktvu sally rasmus tells us what it means for the bank's customers still reads silicon valley, but this bank is under new ownership. now all of silicon valley bank's depositors or automatically, customers have first citizens bank and a deal that closed overnight. first citizens agreed to buy about $72 billion in svb loans at a discount of 16 billion. new

about nine a.m. that's a strong as the winds get. tomorrow morning. we're worried about wind in this because of course this is, uh, the wet ground. the tree concerns all that. so that's the height of the wind. and then the wind stay down very rapidly. there is a wind advisory for the bay area, as you would expect. there's also a winter storm warning in the mountains as you would expect. and then there is the clouds increasing in front of that system. as you would expect. this is the system coming in now and again. it's very strong looking storm. doesn't have a big atmospheric river component. there's a little bit any time you pull on some tropical moisture, so you got that and then you've got this low that's going to go through brahma genesis, which is a cyclone a bomb storm kind of been called that it's a bombo. genesis is actually meteorological term. it's going to drop 24 millibars, probably in 24 hours. that happens a lot. it happens. a lot in the gulf of alaska doesn't happen at this latitude. that's

the latest on what happened, heather. heartbreaking what happened today in nashville? julie the shooting happening this morning at a private christian school in nashville. it's called the covenant school. the suspect identified as a former student at the school was shot to death by police in the span of just 14 minutes. officials say that three staff members were killed along with three children. who were all nine years old. authorities say the shooter was carrying an assault style rifle rifle and pistol as well as a handgun and that at least two of the guns were purchased legally. the chief of police said the assailant, who was 28 years old , had no criminal history. officials say they did find, though a manifesto that referred to this particular date and called it a targeted attack. we've also determined there were maps drawn other school in detail of surveillance ery
