communities. the 11 o'clock news on ktvu. fox two starts now. more rain and wind moving into the bay area tonight. hello again, everyone. i'm julie julie haener mike mibach the last week of march is bringing yet another round of stormy weather. let's get right over the chief meteorologist bill martin in our coverage tonight, bill. the rain is just moving into the north bay. it will be here by early morning tomorrow here being the central bay area and working its way across the region after the early mid morning commute. it's going to be around 9 10 11 is when this thing is really going to get going. it's a slow mover. here's the low pressure center. it's different than the last one last week, which was so powerful, powerful storm, but it's further offshore. in the farther offshore does. it keeps those really strong gale force winds away away from us or who's at least further offshore so we will see a wind advisory. we will see when gusta 35 45 even 50 miles an hour. maybe 55. but

the parking lot. chilling surveillance video released by the. someone fires multiple rounds through a glass door at the covenant school in nashville, gaining entry into this private christian elementary school. the shooter is seen heavily armed with two assault style guns and a nine millimeter pistol. the person enters the church office. and has seen on video walking past the children's ministry. then down a long hallway, the shooter would go on to kill 39 year old students and three adults when we send our kids to school or to any place of safety. we expect them to live, learn, have fun and come back. from that day days experience. we don't anticipate things like this. the 1st 911 calls came in at 10 13 am while students were in class , police say within 14 minutes, officers arrived, began clearing the building and found the suspect on the second floor. two

officers opened fire killing the shooter. i was hoping this day would never, ever come here in the city. but we would never wait. to make entry and to go in and to stop the threat. especially when it deals with our children. police chief john drake is calling this a targeted attack. drake said that 28 year old suspect once attended the covenant school. he also said investigators found a manifesto maps and two additional shotguns . the victims have been identified as 60 year old katherine coons, who was the head of the school. 61 year old cynthia peek a substitute teacher and 61 year old mike hill, a custodian. the three children who died are evelyn deck house, halle scruggs and william kenny. community and nation mourning the victims and yet another school shooting so even in a remarkably fast response, there was not enough time. and those guns stole

precious lives from us today in nashville. and in this dark hour, let us support each other. let us go and hug our children a little bit closer tonight. police say the shooter had no criminal history. they plan to release more information about a motive in coming days. mike harrington live in the newsroom tonight. alyssa. thank you. many parents in nashville have been shaken by the shooting. sean dale brooks says she lost one of her sons in the 2018 waffle house, shooting in tennessee. and now today, another one of her children was inside that school. yeah. i felt like my nerves left me. it felt like it was happening all over again. no parent should have to receive that call. no parent should have to go through anything like that . on twitter tonight, governor, newsom said. we call ourselves the land of the free yet our kids and teachers are gunned down in schools and forced to live in fear of being killed

while being educated. what kind of freedom is that? this isn't going to stop until we come together to pass basic gun safety laws in our nation. california is appealing a judge's ruling that blocked enforcement of a state law that limits the sale of certain models of handguns. last week, a federal judge in orange county ruled against amendments to the unsafe handgun act specifically the requirements that any new semiautomatic guns have an indicator that shows when the gun is loaded and a disconnect mechanism that would keep the gun from firing when the magazine is not inserted. the attorney general said the law is saving lives caused by accidental shootings, bonta said quote the rate of accidental shooting deaths in california decreased by two thirds between 2014 and 2018. after chamber load indicators and magazine disconnect mechanisms were required for new models and our coverage of the shooting in nashville continues online. you can find the latest developments at ktvu dot com. san jose police

made an arrest in connection to a fatal hit and run accident that killed the last ghettos woman and injured her young daughter last night. ktvu south bay reporter lamonica peters has more from police and from people who live in the area. pedestrians who are walking in the crosswalk had the legal right of way. they were doing exactly the right thing. it was the driver who was going against a solid red light who caused this accident and ultimately fatality of the adult female residents in san jose are mourning the loss of 45 year old lehman sal, who died sunday after police say she was hit by a car while walking with her young daughter and their dog. near blossom hill road and lee avenue. i came out here to support my community and i felt really saddened by the story. this is a street that i drive by every day and i go to school on the same street. so i was really shooken up by this. sounds daughter and their dog were also hit by the car. her daughter was hospitalized and is expected to recover, but the dog did not

survive. san jose police say the driver never stopped to offer assistance. they were able to use an automated license plate reader to identify the car after receiving a tip. then they made an arrest. the streets are telling us that improvements are needed. now the lives are being lost are telling us we can't wait another year, diana krall. remedy is an advocate with silicon valley by coalition and says san jose's vision zero program to improve road safety still needs an additional $12 million this year to be fully funded. she says, redesigning the streets will force people to slow down and help save lives a year is another family a year is another person that won't make it back home won't be able to cross the street, another person that isn't safe, just leaving their car. this incident marks the fourth pedestrian death in san jose this year. last year, 63 people died in traffic accidents in san jose. lamonica

peters, ktvu, fox two news. new at 11. san francisco city leaders today announced a major legislative effort to revive the city's downtown mayor, london breed and board of supervisors president aaron peskin are working on the joint project and mend the city's planning code to make it easier to turn existing office buildings into housing. the measure also targets zoning changes that will allow for more office services and retail uses indoor and outdoor entertainment and larger retailers in union square. legislation will be heard at the planning commission and building inspection commission this spring. also knew at 11. oakland's police union is threatening to sue the city over the ransomware attack that snarled services and led to the release of personal data. the oakland police officers association says several dozen officers were among those whose data was hacked. they say there has been quote zero accountability by city leaders. city officials said that they will meet with the union, saying in a statement that protecting the security of their personal information is a top priority.

serving as u. s senator and only to have served in the history of the senate, kamala harris here in california, and carol moseley braun from illinois. oakland zoo has had a difficult few months, the zoo says it has lost millions of dollars in revenue, all because of storm related closures, and it's preparing to close again this week because of this new storm. aside from the storms, as you also made the difficult decision to euthanize 46 year old african elephant who was suffering from a number of health problems, katie views. brooks jarocz has the story. for more than 40 years, lisa has called the oakland zoo home. but for the last decade the african elephant has suffered from degenerative arthritis despite therapy, medication and treatments. her care team made the difficult decision to ease or discomfort by humanely euthanizing her sometimes in life. you know it's goods. you have to let go. it's just the latest thing to go this year. last week, a large eucalyptus
