11:02 pm
incident like this are out of the ordinary in san mateo. i'm not going to walk in fear. now it seems like an isolated incident, but an incident. but i'm really sorry. you know, things happen. happens everywhere. our neighbors are the eyes and ears of our police force. they can't be everywhere all at once. so i would just encourage everyone. one, if you see something, say something. san mateo police were not able to tell us who made the welfare check call, and they didn't tell us how long the bodies had been deceased inside of the home. they say they're still investigating, and if anyone has any information, they should contact san mateo police department. lamonica peters, ktvu, fox two news in the san mateo county sheriff's office is investigating an early morning armedobbery this happened around 130 outsi a home in millbrae on capucine avenue near ela drive. the sheriff's office says two people stole the victim's personal belongin, then took off in a gray honda accord towards el camino real. theictim was not hurt. no

arrests have been made. anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the san mateo county sheriff's office. a man has been placed on probation after being convicted in the crash that killed former ktvu news director fred zender. sender was in a crosswalk at lincoln avenue and walnut street in alameda when he was hit by a ford pickup truck driven by 33 year old michael williams back in june of 2021, alameda police determined williams was driving under the influence. williams pleaded no contest of felony vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced last month to more than two years in jail with credit for time served. he was released from custody. he was placed on three years probation and ordered to attend an alcohol rehab program. we are just three weeks away from super tuesday and on that day, voters will select the two california senate candidates who will move on to the general election. tonight, four of the candidates met for a debate in san francisco. ktvu greg lee was there, and reports
11:04 pm
on the issues those candidates addressed the crisis. the top four candidates in california's u.s. senate race met in san francisco for a second debate ahead of the march primary. democrat members of congress adam schiff, katie porter and barbara lee, and republican steve garvey weighing in on national headlines like the failed border deal, the president should take executive order comprehensive immigration reform is necessary. we will not have border security until we have comprehensive immigration reform. on day one, the president opened the flood gates and created a crisis in the united states. he should be the one to step up and close the border. the race for president, also a major topic. garvey once again pressed on his previous support for former president trump. constant badgering, uh, and the use of the former president's name as an attack against me to try to paint me into a corner. and that's what career politicians do. he shouldn't be on the ballot at all. um, because the constitution is quite clear. if
11:05 pm
you take an oath to defend the constitution, as he did, and then you violate that oath by engaging in insurrection, you should be disqualified. this kind of back and forth between democrats and republicans is what people are fed up with, because they're not focusing on the question that you asked, which is one that deserves to be answered. the candidates also weighing in on president biden's age and mental acuity in the wake of the special counsel's report, the democrats stood by biden while garvey said he's saddened by what he sees. a new poll shows schiff continuing to lead the pack while porter and garvey are in a dead heat for second, with lee following behind. about 29% of voters are still undecided. as someone who's been consistently standing up for what is right, being a progressive champion, all of these years, i think voters are going to be able to see the distinction between all of us. time is running out for these candidates to make their case. ballots were sent out and in-person early voting began
11:06 pm
last week. they're battling through the airwaves. two schiff recently released an ad suggesting this is a two person race between him and garvey. porter railed at the assertion. i think that voters should choose the candidates, not the other way around, and i think it's disappointing that representative schiff is trying to deprive californians of a robust election all the way through november. uh look, i think what's good for california is if we have a senator who can take on the big fights and get stuff done that is ready to step into dianne feinstein's shoes and deliver for the state, there will be another senate debate between these top four candidates next tuesday in los angeles. a reminder, the top two vote getters, regardless of party, advance to the november general election in san francisco. greg lee, ktvu, fox two news well, tonight's debate got the attention of bay area voters. manny's in san francisco's mission hosted a watch party. ktvu zac sos spoke with viewers to get their reaction to tonight's forum. i'm. i'm here to learn. i'm an open minded voter, tyler nelson
11:07 pm
among those filing into manny's in san francisco to tune in to monday's u.s. senate debate, republican frontrunner steve garvey and representatives adam schiff, katie porter and barbara lee all vying to fill a seat. long held by the late senator dianne feinstein. i'm definitely i'm here to listen. um, but i expect to see barbara lee make a convincing case. and as always, um, i can be underwhelmed. and we can see how that goes. but i'm hoping that barbara lee speaks for me as she says wolfgang mori leaning towards oakland congresswoman barbara lee after her calls for a ceasefire in gaza, the one that's most committed to the anti war effort, the one that voted against iraq 20 years ago. others like lesley findlay, essentially undecided and hoping to learn more about each candidate's position as well. i'm familiar with barbara lee, and i certainly know who adam schiff is, but i i've only heard a little bit about katie porter. a great way to collect information. you get to see
11:08 pm
people's actual faces. you get to hear their platforms right from their mouth. so it's a great place to learn halfway through the debate, tyler, with this feedback, i'm impressed by katie porter. i'm less impressed by barbara lee, adam schiff, and beyond. i think they dance around questions. i think they're not being specific. i think katie porter is the only one with communication skills, which i think is mandatory for a politician today. a half hour later, the debate wrapping up and wolfgang leaving with his opinions unchanged. i will not vote for any candidate who does not call for an immediate cease fire. as for leslie, i had some very favorable impressions of katie porter before, and that has sort of cemented my feeling about katie porter and i also fond of adam schiff, but i think maybe i'm leaning toward katie porter. possibly. and one other big takeaway it was very nice to see a civilized debate, by the way, where people did not scream at each other. yeah, hard to argue with leslie there. it was a fairly polite debate, wasn't it? next up, voters will have
