your umbrella. depending on where you are in the bay area. take a look at this video from san rafael this morning. the rain coming down at a pretty steady pace. so let's check in with ktvu meteorologist mark tamayo with what the rest of th. >> yeah, it's a good tip toúkeep the umbrella nearby today. still the possibility some scattered showers and maybe an isolated thunderstorm as well. we have been tracking the showers, especially in the south bay from earlier this morning. you can see some of the rainfall totals really adding up. so we're kind ofúadding things up just over the past two days, as you can see. and you can see san jose spsome areas picking up pretty good amounts here. nothing major, but san jose 0.68. the airport, san rafaelc 10th of anh and not so much for san francisco, redwood city or danville .03. here is our live camera right now. looking spout toward the walnut creek area. we still have a lot of clouds in place and still throughout the afternoon hours. the possibility of some scattered showers. so here's the system we have been watching. as you can see here, you can see that circulation out here in the

pacific right about here. even some lightning strikes detected with some of this activity, it looks like in fact, as we take a we'll bring this in closer right now and we'll show you the, the satellite, the radar. right now, as you can see, some lightning strikes detected closer to monterey bay. so still some instability for this portion of the state as far as the radar imagery throughout the morning hours, main focus in terms of the rainfall was in the soutd oranges showing up on the radar? and in closer, there is one storm report to show you that is from san jose from earlier this morning. during the one of the off ramps in the san jose area. here's the radar coverage right now. there is still some lingering rain showers out there. as we take a closer examination out towards just outside of woodside. and as we check out the maps here, some scattered rain up inúportions of the north bay. so this is how it will be this afternoon, with still the chance of some scattered showers in your afternoon hours. but finally, a break chance. as we head out into your thursday. we'll have more on that coming

up in just a few minutes. >> thank you. mark. now to hayward, where police are investigating a burglary operatn that resulted in a chase that sent one officer to the hospital. ktvu bailey o'carroll has more from hayward. >> hayward police say they responded toúcalls for a burglary in process at a small business. they did not say what that business was, but folks who work nearby said it was a marijuana operation. police say when they arrived, they found a number of armed suspects. a chase ensued and a few blocks down the road, an officer appears to have crashed into a fire hydrant, sending water nearly 30ft in the air.úthe police car came to a stop in a nearby ditch, and required an excavator to get it out before it could be towed out. the driver's side airbag was deployed and there was clear damage to the windshield and the hospital with non-lifen to threatening injuries and is firefighters eventually got the hydrant turned off, but not before the street flooded and was closed off to traffic in both directions. police worked

all morning long collecting evidence from the burglarized business, though they did not confirm if marijuana was being grown inside. after the initial investigation started, they expanded the crime scene to encompass nearly the entire parking lot. as business owners who did not want to be interviewed discovered multiple bullet holes in their car windows. police did not say if the again that officer is expected to be okay and make a full recovery. hayward police are still investigating the details surrounding this o'carroll, ktvu, fox two news.y- just all about all of thepprove- propositions on their local ballot.úthe results mean changes for the way the city approaches certain types of crimes and drug community leaders and mayor london breed ali. >> andre, the mayor, sponsored and supported four of the measures on the ballot. san francisco voters approved all of them. two thirds of san

francisco voters approved measures e and f. >> we also want to make it clear that san francisco is not a place where anything goes, where you can come and do whatever you want to do, whether it's crime, whether it's drugs. >> measure e authorizes the city to install public surveillance cameras and gives police more flexibility to use drones, facial recognition technology felonies. people suspected and >> our plan is not to just police chases, but in the middle of the night when the streets are empty and people's businesses are being broken into and the police are arriving on scene, they should be able to use good judgment and pursue suspects in those particular cases. >> already, our existing pursuit policy allowed pursuits when there was a significant risk to public safety, so it's not even clear what the changes look lik. >> kevin benedicto is on the san francisco police commission. that citizen board is supposed to be in charge of setting police policies. now they have

to find a way to implement measure e. >> it's also a little bit unclear, i know that i've reached out to the city attorney and to the department. so we can figure way that is sort of efficient and in line with what the voters asked for, but also causes minimal disruption to the spdepartment. >> measure f is another controversial measure that passed with 63% of the vote. it requires people on public assistance in san francisco to go through regular drug screening tests and get substance abuse treatment. >> not to be blunt, it's a really stupid measure and that doesn't that doesn't get us anywhere. >> opponents say the city doesn't have the resources to provide substance abuse treatment to everyone who would need it to qualify. >> people are going to end up being homeless when they lose their benefits. just missing anc them into a downward spiral with the welfare department. >> but mayor london breed says the fact that voters overwhelmingly approved the measures she put on the ballot and campaigned for shows that voters want her to take action. >> people also want accountability, and that is what happened with proposition e and proposition f. san francisco

last seen february 16th on daphne way and astor way in east palo alto. we see her photo on the screen now. she was last seen wearing blue leggings, orange bike shorts and a beige puffy jacket. anyone with is asked to call 911.ereaboutst- >> police and alameda have made an arrest in what the department is calling a successful retail theft investigation. officers located eight truckloads of stolen merchandise along with stolen vehicles and more than $10,000 inúcash. we've learned it all started with grand theft that happened at the old navy in the south shore shopping center. police then found outúthat the stolen goods were taken to a home in oakland. as the investigation went on, they suspected the house was a fencing operation for other thefts around the bay area. authorities are working to return the stolen goods to the proper retailers now. luxury

clothing brand brand burberry is trying to sell its 17,000 square foot space on post street in the heart of san francisco's union square. this is the first time in more than 20 years that the nearly 100 year old building couldútrade owners. the asking price is not yet known. >> many people are reacting to the news close its flagship store in union square. but wondering wondering what will happen to the cheesecake factory inside that building? the cheesecake factory on the eighth floor of the macygs building, overlooks san francisco's hot spot for tourists and diners. many people love it, given the view extensive family friendly atmosphere. >> i like the view. my grandchildren love to play around here and we love the spaghetti, the salad. i hope it doesn't go. >> the cheesecake factory has been in business there in union square for almost 25 years. owners haven't said yet what spwill happen to it once macy's closes its doors. macy's says it will remain open until it can

find a buyer for that property. a little bit of a mix of sun and clouds behind us along the oakland estuary. we had some pretty serious rain, though thae lingering instability. guys that we're tracking across the bay area. so while you might have some breaks in the rainfall right now, just just plan on maybe some more showers that could develop widely scattered as we head into the afternoon hours. we're taking a look long range here. in fact, you can see the current pattern out there. we have this big trough, this big area of low pressure out here is keeping things unstable for us, producing those rain showers as we put things into motion. we should see some clearing as we move into thursday and friday. so we actually have a change in the overall weather pattern that will bring us dry conditions pattern. we call this a trophyhy pattern because you can see how the upper level wind is out it'd of moving in from that direction. and that will keep the clouds in the area and the possibility of some scattered showers. a slight chance on saturday. we'll begin a major deal, butústill it won't be

completen sunshine in a dry weather for the weekend. here's a look at that current system to the southúof monterey bay. as we come in closer, you can see some lightning strikes detected closer to monterey bay. so that's like where we have the core of the instability getting closec to santa cruz this afternoonn but in terms of the bay area radar, we had some heavier downpours earlier this morning. see all the coverage out there. this is the radar loop over the past six hours. as we come in closer here, you can see some of the action right now. there's not a lot to show you in the south bay, but we actually had that to report dur0 hour more you can see, to the ef san jose. and as we move the maps closer to this portion of the bay area, also for the hills, as you can pick out just outside of woodside and then up in the north bay, some scattered rain up toward portions of santa rosa, but nothing too major. here is our live camera right now. we'll check out some of the current conditions out there for the 12:00 hour. this is our

walnut creek camera, and we are showing youúsome 50s and some lower 60s. so it's dry in your neighborhood right now. just be prepared for the possibility of a pop up shower that could quicklyc develop. here's what ts 12:00 this afternoon. as we put this typically during the afternoon whenúyou get the maximum heating, especially if you have some breaks in the clouds, that could lead to some more instability. and that's what this forecast model thinks, especially in some of the the higher terrain. and so it's one of those deals where you could have a pretty goodúdownpour out there, maybe even some hail. and then as we move into the evening hours, weúwill begin to chancesu can see we're transitioning toward into friday. then by the weekend, we'll definitely bring in some more clouds across highs will be in the lower 60s,- lots of cloud cover out there, some breaks in the clouds, and the possibility still of some scattered showers and. here's fa sun cloud mix for your thursday. we're going to warm things up by friday. the weekend. it's not a stormy weekend, but definitely a lot of clouds rolling into the

migrants coming to the u.s. they unúpeacekeeping mission led by police from kenya. we are working with international partners and congress to provide immediate support to the haitian nationalúpolice and expedite the deployment of the multinational security support mission. prime minister ariel henry was in kenya earlier this week to sign that peacekeeping deal. he's now in puerto rico waiting for the security situation in haiti to stabilize in london. greg palkot, ktvu, fox two news. >> more details are emerging about the background of the man who luis villasenor cervantes died after a deadly chase and shootout with deputies on monday, according to the santa rosa police department. cervantes had a long criminal history. the 53 year old had beenúdeported four times, dating back to 2009.úhe'd also been arrested for willful cruelty to a child, criminal threats, domestic violence, dui and narcotics for deputies were injured during the incident. police in east palo alto find tn

responsible for the city's first homicide of the year. surveillance video on february eighth shows the man stabbing two people near university avenue and bell street north of highway 101, one victim had minor injuries, the other spidentified as frank finney, ws hospitalized in critical condition. eventually, he died from his injuries last weekend at stanford hospital. >> i don't believe this is going to start a trend, because we do have officers actively going out there and again, building that, that community trust, that, community policing, and, and, and we're activelyc stopping an. police say surveillance video shows a white suv stopped in the road, and whoever was inside likely softenni get attacked. >> a group called mothers against murder offering a $10,000 reward to find the person responsible. >> theregs been a crime and pubn

oakland yesterday. here on mornings on two. oakland mayor shengtao rejected suggestions that crime is on the rise. >> we're seeing that crimes and homicides are all trending down. >> everything from numbers. >> mayor cited opd crime statistics saying crime is down over the period in previousúyears. she pointed to increased foot patrols by policec and crime suppression teams in the city's business district. while overall crime is down, we dug into the data and found the number of reported robberies is up 40% from last year, same time period. the number of reported home invasions increased from eight in the first two months of last year to 18 so far this year step with crimec data. >> it takes a little while before people feel confident that decreases that perceptions might take a little while to adjust if these decreases that have been reported are are sustainable. >> many residents say the crime is actually worse than what's reported because some victims don't want to report a fearingcn

ballot proposition one would allow the state to borrow $6 billion to build mental health and substance abuse facilities. it would also build supportive housing for the homeless. the proposition has the support of governor newsom, law enforcement and first responders. you can see the numbers right there. 50.2% say yes,c 49.8% say no. it's very close here. opponents question the constitutionality of the measure, as well as its costs. the results this morning too close to call. both republican and democratic voters gathered in locations across the bay area last night, one of the largest republican gatherings was in san francisco's marina district. >> wife and i are trump people, so we're looking forward to it. we're looking forward to a different outcome this time. >> across town, san francisco democrats held a watch party of their own. it was held in the city's south of market neighborhood. >> i definitely want to every ve spreally does matter. republicans are already making

plans to attend watch parties on election night in november. >> dozens of people gathered at uc berkeley last night for a super tuesday watch party. >> i think one of the things that we can all agree on, regardless of what platforms we're using, what are the particular struggles of this particular election, what issues we're facing or the dissemination of information, spaces for discourse, for civil discourse are evaporating rapidly. >> uc berkeley institute of governmental studies hosted last night's event. those attending also had the chance to learn more about the institute. >> statewide, we do consistent lobby trips to advocate on behalf of the different, you know, legislation that we want to see passed for cal students. katie, how are things looking so far? >> the berkeley igs regularly p, president and senate. we do expect to see more of its polls in the months leading up to the november election. california's election results take longer than many other states because here. ballots put into mailboxes

on election day will take a few days to arrive by mail. they have to be accepted by elections officials for seven days after election day, so the total number of votes cast won't be known until next week. counties now. we do hope you stay with us for more spelection results through the results when you head to ourday- website ktvu.com. >> new at noon san jose police have arrested two men suspected in two separate homicides in the city. investigators say juan carlos perez shot three people on february 18th in a parking lot on story road. now, one of the victims, an adult male, was killed. investigators identified perez as the suspect and arrested him last friday. the second homicide happened last thursday on moorpark avenue. a a vehicle. denzel brown was identified as the primary suspect. the 30 year old was arrested in sunnyvale. police are still trying to identify we released a surveillance case-

snapshot of the second suspect. >> i'm in a press release. so again, if anyone has any information, please come forward to our detectives so we could bring some closure to thisúcase. but again, i do want to commend our detectives for not only identifying, but also arresting within less than 24 hours, the primary suspect. suspect brown. >ñ these were the seventh and ninth homicides in san jose this year. the motives and circumstances surrounding both cases are under investigation. now well, now to this story. tensions continue to build on the israel lebanon border here, as hezbollah fires dozens of rockets. as trey yingst reports, it comes as negotiators in cairo work to secure a potential cease fire deal. >> israel's iron dome shooting down rockets fired from southern lebanon tuesday night. hezbollah says it launched the attackúin retaliation for a deadly israeli airstrike earlier in the day. in response, israeli jets struck a hezbollah launch post theúlatest round of violence comesúas

lebanese officials say they're studying a proposal from the us envoy designed to calm tensions at the border. >> there is no such thing as a limited war. escalation will not help the lebanese and israeli people return home. escalation will not resolve this crisis. meanwhile negotiators in cairo are still trying to secure a six week cease fire deal between israel and hamas. >> with less of ramadan on wednesday, hamas says it will continue talks while still pushing for a complete withdrawal of israeli forces. some western officials remain skeptical. >> we think the proposal that israel put on the table, in consultation with the united states and with qatar and egypt, is one that hamas should agree to, and it's one that would alleviate palestinian people. >> but there's an urgent need to reach an agreement soon, with the un warning gaza is at risk of famine due to a limited amount of humanitarian aid entering the territory. >> our children are hungry and they want food. life is
