at a high school in pleasanton now under investigation after causing extensive damage to a 100 year old building. >> i'm glad that it was empty and i'm glad nobody was hurt, obviously. and this did not happen during school hours for sure. >> and class was back in session today atúamador valley high, but not without some disruptions. good evening everyone. >> i'm mike mibach and igm julie julie haener. the campus has been without power or with limited power and no wifi for much of the day. ktvu is crystal update. crystal. well, the good news is no one was injured and the fire happened when nothing was happening school. >> but it wasn't the only fire on campus in the last 24 hours. officials say the small gymnasium at amador valley high school caught fire just before 8:00 sunday night. the 100 year old building is used for and testing. >ñ last night, when we saw what was happening, you know, they said that the roof was collapsing and, all of a sudden

firefighters say the fire started in a trash can in a corner of the building. >> the flames extinguished in about half an hour as part of the safety precautions, pge doer campus. >> despite the odds, school stayed in session and later school district officials say there was a second, smaller fire on campus. >> we did. unfortunately have an incident during school, in the morning where some students made spa poor decision to, start a fe in one of our bathroom waste bins, district officials say the two fires are isolated incidents, but they are reviewing security camera footage. >> in the meantime, teachers were forced to get creative tooe of the fact that it is a beautiful day outside. >> email updates were sent to parents periodically, overnight

clean that place up. >> all right, crystal, thank you. >> police say a killed her own mother. this happened around yesterday complex on university avenue. dead with stabc wounds, and the suspect was atethere on property. she was later identified athe victim's daughter. police are not identifying the family at this time. this is berkeley's first homicide of the year. the man charged with seven murders across northernc california pleaded not guilty in court today. wesley brownlee is accused of five deadly shootings in stockton and two in oakland in 2021 and 22. brownlee is also facing an attempted murder charge today. his attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf during a status hearing. if brownlee is found guilty on all counts, he could face the death penalty. his next court date has been set for later next month. >> a vigil is underway in san neighborhood for the three people who were killed in a crash at a bus stop over the weekend. today, authorities

confirm the three people killed were all from the same family. police have also taken the driver, a 78 year old woman, into custodyl in connection with that crash. ktvu christien kafton tells us neighbors and safety advocates are now added to that intersection.tsúb- >> flowers and candles now lie at the scene of saturday's deadly collision. an adult male and a young child died at the dn the hospital sunday. the sole survivor, a six month old child still being treated for life threatening injuries in the hospital. even veteran investigators. >> this is very difficult for our investigators to deal with that level of trauma, san francisco police have arrested 78 year old mary fong law, saying she was behind the wheel of this white mercedes suv when it smashed into a bus shelter, hitting the people inside. >> officers have booked her on three counts vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving

and other traffic violations. katie icu spoke briefly with a relative of the driver, who told us that they are devastated by this incident and that the driver's adult children flew into the bay area after hearing about the crash, and that so the hospital. investigators are still looking to see if there was a medical issue or speed that led to the deadly collision. >>úwe know that speed could have been a factor. we're looking at every aspect that could have led to this incident. >> the pedestrian advocacy group walk sf says deadly car crashes like this one happened all too spfrequently, and that a multisp process mustútake place streetse for everyone. drivers cyclists and pedestrians. >> our whole city is grieving this i think we shouldúbe and i think, part of that is because so many of us are feeling how often, and that feeling of it

german shepherd puppy in the head, then fled. there were two unidentified suspects responsible for this heartless shootingn >> the dog's name is marley, and she wasújust ten months oldúwhen it happened. she was rushed to the san jose animal care center for emergency surgery. the damage was primarily to her snout, though the bullet also struck her paw as it exited. >> she's very lucky in that the vessels. it did go through the hard palate, but the problem is, is that it shattered the this part of theúlower jaw. >> repairing the jaw would be expensive and require a specialist. thankfully, the community donated more than $27,000 for marley's care, and vets from uc davis stepped up to help the trajectory of the bullet has led to this extreme amount of damage. >> the procedure to repair the shattered jaw went well, though she did haveúto have a toe amputated. >> marley is now recovering with a foster family. >> everything's healed. it looks beautiful. they took the device out, you would never know.
