eastbound. once at killer avenue, the others at edwards, both near the off ramps. they're both listed as traffic hazards, although they do have a tow truck on hand. that edwards incident, the car is blocking the slow lane, so 580 eastbound could be slowing down here a little bit. this is slow. if you want traffic, all you got to do is go to the bay bridge midweek. a lot of folks, moving into the city to do their thing and work and a lot of cars out there. metering lights have been on since before 5:00, so a busy ride over the span. if you are down at san jose, nothing big happening down there. that's good news. that's highway 280 moving just fine in the city of san jose. 602602 rather on the dot. let's get it back to the desk, guys. take it away. >> all right. thank you. frank the protesters who blocked traffic on interstate 880 and the golden gate bridge have been released from jail. >> and ktvu. sally rasmus is here in the studio now to tell us why charges have not been
6:03 am
filed yet against those protesters in san francisco. >> yeah. protesters arrested in san francisco and in alameda county. a total of 38 people arrested in total for demonstrations that happened on interstate 880 and the golden gate bridge on monday that, as we know, tied up traffic for hours across those two bay area counties at the golden gate bridge on monday, the chp arrested 26 protesters, some of whom had chained themselves to cars blocking traffic for several hours. they were calling for an end to the war in gaza and us military support for israel. the chp arrested them on suspicion of several misdemeanors, including unlawful assembly and failure to disperse, but also for a more serious felony conspiracy charge for working together to plan the demonstration. allegedly, san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins says her office needs more time, though, to review the evidence before prosecutors can file those charges. in the meantime, the 26 protesters were released from jail. >> we have to be able to attribute specific conduct to
6:04 am
specific individuals so what role they play that they were one present, that they were participating, and that they weren't simply an onlooker who who happened to move forward into a crowded area. we need to be able to make sure that we can pinpoint who was doing what. >> as for the 12 protesters arrested across the bay for blocking traffic on interstate 880 on monday, we're trying to find out what charges they might be facing from the alameda district attorney's office. the 880 protesters had chained themselves together using concrete filled barrels that took nearly seven hours to remove governor gavin newsom said this about monday's protests. >> there's a better way of expressing it than denying people the ability to get to work. someone in an emergency that can't get to their destination. i don't think that's helpful, and i don't think that's responsible. i think there are better ways of protesting. so no, i hope we don't see it again. and i do think people need to be held to account for their actions.
6:05 am
>> but we have seen this before. you'll recall back in november, there was a similar protest that blocked the bay bridge. and one of the people arrested in that demonstration who says he was a bystander watching and was wrongly accused of being involved, is now suing the city of san francisco for wrongful arrest. david, pam, back to you. >> you guys gotta leave. you guys refusing to leave? yes. okay, you first hand up. >> five google employees were arrested for refusing to leave the sunnyvale office of the ceo of google cloud. that was part of a protest over a contract with the israeli military. now, that protest was part of a coordinated day of action by google employees in silicon valley, new york city and seattle. not another push, not another line. >> no more tech for genocide. >> google employees in sunnyvale want google to cancel a $1.2 billion contract with israel, named project nimbus. the protesters say they're concerned the facial recognition and
6:06 am
object tracking provided by nimbus enables the israeli military to target and kill civilians in gaza. >> it is impossible for me to continue coming into work every week without acknowledging and loudly condemning project nimbus. >> google released a statement following the arrest. it reads in part, quote, physically impeding other employees work and preventing them from accessing our facilities is a clear violation of our policies. we will investigate and take action. these employees were put on administrative leave and their access to our systems was cut. after refusing multiple requests to leave the premises. law enforcement was engaged to remove them to ensure office safety. >> our time now 606 new this morning, san jose firefighters rushed to an early morning house fire on locust street near west virginia street, not far from washington elementary and the guadalupe river. now we're still waiting to hear back from the fire department to get more

6:08 am
free agent, was zero for ten shooting and zero points. >> we need klay back. i mean he's you know his i know he had a tough night tonight but he's still got good good years left. and i know i speak for everybody in the organization. we want him back. >> klay has said he wants to stay as well. after the game the kings lit up the night with that outside golden center tradition with their their gold one center. that is with the tradition of lighting the beam. do we have to include that part? i wanted to just get rid of that part of the story. okay, but we have some kings fans around here. so yeah, we do. >> all right. then we also have frank mallicoat, who's here. he's watching the morning commute. how's it looking, frank? yeah it's starting to pick up a little bit south bay. >> it was green on the screen. you turn your back and voila we've got three fender benders along highway 101. you can see it's kind of, from top to bottom there. from 237, you go south and then all the way down there
6:09 am
near 101, on your way down towards santa cruz, that's a bit of a mess. make that towards morgan hill rather. so keep an eye on that, lafayette commuters, folks coming in from highway 24, from the lamorinda walnut creek area, some pretty good volume right now at, what, 608. but that's pretty typical. good news is it is moving and we finish at san mateo bridge. people work their way over the peninsula right now. traffic is moving along just fine there. that is a look at traffic. let's throw it back to pam. >> thank you. frank a push for transparency within the vallejo police department, the steps the agency is taking so the community can weigh in on the use of military equipment and a new high school in alameda county prepares to open its doors. >> we're going to take you on a tour of this state of the art school campus

6:15 am
preparing to welcome its first 950 students in august. >> dublin high school is so full that this community has needed a second high school for a long time, and you know, i believe over the last ten years, this community of dublin has invested a lot of, of money into, into building what we are now standing in emerald high school with the changing demographics here in the bay area. we want to make sure that the experience here at emerald high school reflects the wants and needs of the community it serves. >> emerald high will also have a football field, eight tennis courts and an eight lane track when it is complete. >> that is beautiful. >> that's beautiful and exciting to have a brand new school. bravo! wow state of the art. >> yeah, time is now. 615 frank mallicoat, who's also state of the art. he knows about your morning commute. well, i mean, you're your omelet is ready for you on your on your desk right here. >> matcha latte. yeah. >> well, you're going to have to

6:17 am
time now to talk about that little mini marine layer out there. if there is such a thing, steve, there is today. >> you just missed it. you can't see it, but you're close there, frank. thank you sir. there's low clouds there moving right underneath the both the spans of the golden gate. take a look at it right now. there it is. and there's higher clouds up above. now, we've seen this most of the week. it will retreat back probably pretty fast, but some pockets of fog. but the high pressure is really squashing it. so it's low low low 40s 50s on the temps here. higher clouds just kind of breaking through there. so mix of sun, high clouds, some fog near the coast. but i think that'll burn off 40s, more 50s though. today we are running warmer than 24 hours ago. 50 in clayton, alamo north dublin, dublin in there, hercules in there. and it's close for everyone else, kensington and berkeley, both at 51 mid 50s though, brentwood and also pittsburgh. 2831 truckee, south lake tahoe 38 arcadia. man, that's cold for them this time of year. to 51 5453 santa barbara, los angeles, san diego. higher clouds will be with us.
6:18 am
so kind of hazy skies. doesn't take long to get the haze going. there will be a little bit today. there's not much of a breeze. sun high clouds. this i probably the warmest day for all will be today. tomorrow may be similar inland, but cooler for all as we go to friday and the weekend looks pretty good. are we done with rain? no. climate prediction center doesn't think so neither do i. they have for the 24th through april 30th, above normal rainfall, slicing through half of the bay with near normal or normal i should say. for the rest. so, a couple of the global models are dropping a pretty good system on us around 2820 ninth wednesday. warmth though, mix of high clouds, sun, 60s 70s upper 70s to a few near 80 degrees, not too much change thursday, then cooler friday. and now what? looks to be a nice weekend. >> all right. thank you. steve a condo war is heating up in the south bay. the new real estate lawsuit emerging after several housing towers were auctioned off and a local water district says it needs more money for projects and that could mean higher bills for customers. we

whether or not to recall district attorney pamela price by a narrow margin, the alameda county registrar of voters certified that the recall campaign collected enough validated signatures. now, supporters of the recall say price is soft on crime, and they
6:22 am
want the special election held as soon as possible. >> our main reason for us being here today is to make sure that the board of supervisors follows the charter. the charter used specific words without delay, immediately. >> price's legal team claims the recall election should not happen at all, because they say the county has not complied with the two provisions in the county charter, claiming that the registrar of voters did not verify the signatures within ten days, and that some of the people who were collecting signatures did not live in alameda county. a court hearing is set for next month involving a dispute regarding condos in downtown san jose. the bay area news group reports a china based real estate company that is has an affiliate built two residential towers on west saint james street, fell behind on maintenance dues. the condos were auctioned off earlier this month to cover the expenses. the china based developer is now suing auction organizers to get

6:26 am
lake is now just about seven feet from its max capacity, and this does mark the first time in about ten years that shasta lake has been nearly full. >> as you get really high in the lake, it gets really spread out. so every foot is a lot of water. so we're still 150,000 acre feet from being full. so we've got ample room yet and we've got inflows still coming in. so we expect to continue to creep up. we're just going to have normal releases throughout the summer. nothing major. and then the goal there is to end up at the end of the summer at a at a relatively high lake. so that gets us really into a good season going into the next year. >> as we approach summer water, officials say they are focused on maintaining that storage and preparing a water allocations for farmers. a san francisco housing advocate is facing new sex assault accusations. we'll tell you why. the city's police chief now is asking any possible victims to come forward and navigating the process. after a car crash. we'll tell you what the chp is doing to try to help

6:34 am
downed, although some of those have been also because of fallen trees, others because of that vandalism issue. now, oakland representatives said that they have deployed teams to repair the downed lights and install temporary lights because it will take the original vendor time to make those new posts and light poles. the crew in oakland will also reinforce the curb boxes that have yet to be damaged or not yet damaged. the problem is, though not unique to lake merritt or oakland, this has been happening actually more and more in cities all across the country as copper wiring used in the lighting fixtures is becoming more and more valuable. so people are after that, looking to resell it. now, recently in la, the city council put together a task force to address the growing number of copper wire thefts affecting their streetlight system. no word yet, though, on if oakland is investigating the vandalism here. to the street lights here along lake merritt reporting live in oakland. i'm bailey o'carroll, ktvu, fox two news.

6:39 am
>> the warriors head into the off season with many questions topping that list. the future of klay thompson. he'll become a free agent. and while the team says it wants him back, the question is how much is ownership willing to pay? thompson was zero and ten shooting last night with zero points. >> you have to accept. you know, the highs and lows of what we do but not lose confidence in yourself. and i think klay has been walking model of that. it's a tough way to end the season. >> for the 2500 warriors fans gathered last night outside chase center to watch the play in tournament game. the outcome certainly not what they wanted, but fans remain positive. >> it was a lot, too many turnovers and literally no defense all game, so it was extremely disappointing. but hopefully, hopefully next season we'll come out better. >> very nervous watching it. nail-biting a nail biting game and it's very heartbreaking, but we'll get it next season. >> we've been rooting for this
