the silicon valley giant, is saying about the workers and their protest. then arrests are made in a double homicide in napa that left two young women dead. we've learned about the suspected shooter and the two teens who were killed this past weekend. >> from ktvu, fox two news. this is mornings on two. good morning . >> good. >> welcome back. >> i'm gasia mikaelian and good morning i'm dave clark. >> welcome to wednesday, april 17th. you brought the good weather with you. >> it's so nice and mild out there. >> yeah. well steve paulson is here as well. and he's been telling us about how nice today is going to be. >> if you like it a little warmer. yes, temperatures today should bump up a few near 80. we have a lot of high clouds, though. streaming across. looks like the fog is already gone. there was a lot more there about an hour ago. temperatures are running about 178 degrees warmer than 24 hours ago. so 40s 50s on the temps. but we are looking pretty good. a lot of high clouds though. i mean continue. kind of hazy. some higher clouds up there as well. but
7:01 am
wednesday's warm ways will take us to some upper 70s and 80s at least, away from the coast, closer to the coast. 60s and 70s. but i went 70 for the city. why not? all right, over to frank mallicoat southeast. where are we going? >> well, we're going to take you to the east bay. my stomping ground, steve, and take a look at that. and i got good news for you commuters there. you know, this is usually pretty slow, but i don't see a lot of tail lights. it is moving along, not over the top, but you got some pretty good volume as you work your way towards orinda and the caldecott tunnel highway 880 in oakland. all clear except we just got some word that there's chunks of metal near the high street exit south. 880 so if you were a little north of there and heading south, keep an eye on that. they're trying to get him off the highway and we finish with the san mateo bridge. a lot of those folks on 880 will have a slow roll into the bridge, and on the bridge itself, on your way to the peninsula. that is a
7:02 am
look at traffic time now. 701 let's send it back to the desk. >> thank you. we're learning more about what a likely happened to the protesters who blocked bay area freeways and the golden gate bridge for hours on monday. >> everybody still talking about it? ktvu sally rasmus here in the studio to tell us why no charges have been filed yet. allie. yeah. >> and the short answer reason for that the bottom line san francisco's district attorney says her office needs more time before they can file charges. now, on monday, as we know, there were a total of 38 people arrested for multiple demonstrations that happened on interstate 880 and on the golden gate bridge. it blocked traffic on those thoroughfares for hours at the golden gate bridge. the chp ended up arresting 26 people. now, some of the protesters had chained themselves to their cars, the group here calling for an end to the war in gaza and us military support for israel. the chp arrested this group on the golden gate bridge for several misdemeanors, including unlawful assembly and failure to disperse. but the chp in this case also wants the da's office to charge these protesters with
7:03 am
a felony for conspiracy, essentially accusing them of working together to coordinate and plan this demonstration. protesters and their supporters found that felony recommendation alarming. >> what's really important to note here is that these felony charges are ridiculous and almost unprecedented. that does require a certain amount of evidence for us to feel that we can meet that burden beyond a reasonable doubt. >> we certainly want to make clear in any situation, though, that when people violate the law that there will be accountability. >> lee san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins says her office needs more time to review the evidence before prosecutors can file charges against the group on the golden gate bridge. in the meantime, those 26 protesters were released from san francisco jail. now, as for the 12 protesters across the bay who were arrested for blocking traffic on interstate 880 on monday, we are trying to find out what types of charges they might face from the alameda county district attorney. the 880 protesters had chained
7:04 am
themselves together using concrete filled barrels that took nearly seven hours to remove. >> and i certainly respect the cause that around the cease fire, the president united states, i support that. i support his approach to that issue. and i believe fundamentally, that's part of what they're expressing. but i think there's a better way of expressing it. >> now, back in november, there was a similar protest that blocked the bay bridge. one of the people arrested in that demonstration, who says he was a bystander watching the protest and was wrongly accused of being involved, is now suing the city of san francisco for wrongful arrest. garcia and dave, back to you. >> y guys t to leave. you guys refusing to leave? yes. okay >> you first end up five google employees were arrested for refusing to leave the sunnyvale office of the ceo of google cloud. as part of a protest over google's contract with the israeli military. protest was part of a coordinated day of action by google employees in silicon valley, new york city and seattle. not another push,
7:05 am
not another line. >> no more tech for genocide. >> google employees in sunnyvale want google to cancel a $1.2 billion contract with israel, called project nimbus. protesters say they're concerned the facial recognition and object tracking provided by nimbus enables the israeli military to target and kill civilians in gaza. >> it is impossible for me to continue coming into work every week without acknowledging and loudly condemning project nimbus . >> google released a statement following the arrest, saying in part, physically impeding other employees work and preventing them from accessing our facilities is a clear violation of our policies. we will investigate and take action. these employees were put on administrative leave and their access to our systems was cut. after refusing multiple requests to leave the premises, law enforcement was engaged to remove them to ensure office safety. >> our time now 705 new this morning during the night, firefighter fires in santa rosa
7:06 am
put out a house fire. the firefighters rushed to a home after getting reports that a garage was on fire. the first fire engine got there in about five minutes. they found smoke coming from a one story house. the firefighters were able to get it all under control in about 15 minutes, and able to keep it from spreading to the living area. they think this was an accidental fire. the investigation is going on. the people who were inside were able to get out safely. san jose firefighters rushed to an early morning house fire on locust street near west virginia street, not far from washington elementary and the guadalupe river. now we're still waiting to hear back from fire officials to get more details, which we will then pass on to you. >> three people have now been arrested in connection to a shooting in which two young women were killed in napa over the weekend. 22 year old john nicholson, junior of vallejo, is being held without bail on two counts of murder. two other women are also accused of being
7:07 am
accessories. the shooting happened around 8:00 saturday night during a fight on riverside drive. napa. police responded to reports of gunfire and found the victims. a 17 year old named sasha and a 19 year old named eileen villasenor. one died at the scene, the other at the hospital. memorial balloons, candles and flowers is growing at the spot where the two young women were killed. >> these young, young people that are just starting out in life, how did this tragedy happen? and so that's where the community comes together to try to understand this. >> the suspect could be charged with the special circumstance of multiple murder, which means if convicted, he could face life in prison without parole. >> our time is now. 707 new reports say the vallejo police department has been out of compliance with state law for almost two years. public records showed the vallejo police failed to disclose its military equipment use policy. the statewide law says the public has a right to know that law enforcement owns and uses military equipment. the police
7:08 am
department published its military equipment list earlier this month. the vallejo police still has to fulfill several other requirements before they're allowed to use military equipment without violating state law. >> alameda county voters will soon decide whether to recall district attorney pamela price by a narrow margin. the alameda county registrar of voters certified that the recall campaign collected enough validated signatures. supporters of a recall say the da price is soft on crime, and they want the special election held as soon as possible. >> our main reason for us being here today is to make sure that the board of supervisors follows the charter. the charter used specific words without delay, immediately. >> prices. legal team, though, says the recall shouldn't go forward because it says the county has not complied with two provisions in the county charter, claiming that the registrar of voters did not verify the signatures within ten
7:09 am
days, and that some of the people who collected signatures did not live in alameda county. >> good morning everyone. frank mallicoat in the traffic central here. time now. 708 we're going to take you on a three bridge run, and the first is the worst. the last one is the best. and of course, the worst. as usual, the bay bridge winning that honor today, two hours of metering lights turns into this. even at 708 in the morning. slow roll across the bay bridge. if you're heading to, from richmond to san rafael, up 101, that is slow as well. pretty heavy until mid span, which is unusual. and then finally, marin folks, mill valley, larkspur, you're working your way on 101 into the city. you get a twofer, a beautiful view and very little traffic out there. just gorgeous. what looks like a really nice day. 709 let's send it back to day. >> okay? thank you frank. well, if you walk or drive around oakland's lake merritt at night,
7:10 am
you've noticed it is darker than usual with the city plans to do about a problem of vandalism against streetlights that have recently been vandalized. plus, now biden game. >> and it's very heartbreaking. but we'll get it next season. it was a tough season ending game for the golden state warriors. >> we'll break down what could be next for the team as it tries to get back on top next season. then a quick reminder that you can stream ktvu news on your smart tv, watch our live newscasts, get stories on demand and so much more on your vizio smart tv. amazon fire tv, roku, apple tv and android tv. search for th

season is over for the golden state warriors. >> it ended much sooner than many expected. ktvu. andre senior in studio here with the uncertainty. last night's loss to the sacramento kings has created. >> you know they got much better throughout the season because they started off rocky and things were starting to look good. and then what happened here last night going into the postseason the warriors were the hottest team in the nba, ten wins out of their final 12 games. last night's loss to the sacramento kings. shocking and disappointing. dub nation one 1894 the warriors trailing throughout the game, while the kings looked confident in the home of the crowd there at golden one center. the warriors, though, they struggle there.
7:14 am
>> we just couldn't stay with them. they dominated us physically. i think they had about 18 more field goal attempts than us between the turnovers and the and the offensive boards. so they just it was total domination. they they they deserved it. >> the warriors head into the off season with many questions and topping that list. the future of klay thompson. he'll become a free agent. and while the team says it wants him back, the question is how much is ownership willing to pay? thompson was o for ten shooting last night with zero points. >> you have to accept that, you know, the highs and lows of what we do but not lose confidence in yourself. and i think klay has been walking model of that. it's a tough way to end the season for the 2500 warriors fans gathered last night outside chase center to watch the play in tournament game. >> the outcome certainly not what they wanted, but fans, they
7:15 am
remain positive. >> there was a lot too many turnovers and literally no defense all game, so it was extremely disappointing. but hopefully we hopefully next season we'll come out better. >> very nervous watching it, nail biting and nail biting game and it's very heartbreaking. but we'll get it next season. >> we've been rooting for this team all year and really hope we would make a run this season. as well in the playoffs, but it wasn't meant to be. >> the warriors will try to improve the roster, but it won't be easy. they are well over the nba salary cap and only have a second round pick in the june nba draft. now the warriors could cut ties with some veteran players besides klay thompson. there's also gary pruitt in the second, kevon looney and chris paul as well. so we will see what happens before tip off for the next season in october. back to you, garcia andre. >> thank you. one of the women who accused former los angeles dodgers pitcher trevor bauer of sexual assault is now under indictment. she'd sued bauer and said she became pregnant as a
7:16 am
result of the assault. authorities in arizona say the woman tried to defraud millions of dollars from bauer and extort money from a second, unidentified person. bauer was never criminally charged. the dodgers released him after long suspension. he's now playing professionally in mexico. >> our time is now 715. two lifeguards with the california state parks department received medals of valor for a very daring nighttime rescue in half moon bay during massive swells. now, riley rhodes and max hunter were honored during this ceremony by the california surf life saving association. they rescued a swimmer at poplar beach last year. despite eight foot tall swells and low visibility, the california state parks department said the awards are a testament to their courage and willpower. well san francisco fire officials safely rescued a man who was caught in the tides at marshall beach. the chp sent in a helicopter to help out with that rescue last night. fire officials say the man
7:17 am
became ill on the beach that prevented him from getting to the trail before the tide came in. he was stabilized by paramedics down there on the beach, but later he was checked out at a nearby hospital. >> california's largest reservoir is near its capacity for the second straight year, but officials say it still has plenty of room for more water. shasta lake rose over a foot since last week following heavy rain over the weekend. it's now seven feet from its maximum capacity. this marks the first time in over a decade shasta lake has been almost full two years in a row. >> as you get really high in the lake, it gets really spread out. so every foot is a lot of water. so we're still 150,000 acre feet from being full. so we've got ample room yet and we've got inflows still coming in. so we expect to continue to creep up. we're just going to have normal releases throughout the summer. nothing major. and then the goal there is to end up at the end of the summer at a at a relatively high lake. so that gets us really into a good season going into the next year.
7:18 am
>> and as we approach summer water, officials say they're focused on maintaining the storage and preparing water allocations for farmers. >> all right. our time is up in 17. we're trying to get you to where you need to go. frank mallicoat with our commute. frank. >> all right, we're going to head south bay. we had two accidents on 101. those have been cleaned up, but a new one just popped up northbound, causing a good size backup. you can see it there on the right hand side of your screen. if you're heading northbound 101, that's going to take you a while and look over towards los altos hill. another issue, 280 near los altos hills. that's highway 85 as well, down to the bottom of your screen. got a fender bender there as well, so it is fairly busy. let's get you up to the tri-valley area. this has been very active. highway six 8580, the interchange there, there is an accident. apparently a trailer unhitched. and while that driver stopped, another driver hit that car, no injuries to report as of now. but as you can imagine, it's quite slow down if you're heading down 680
7:19 am
southbound right now and we'll take you out for our super commuters coming in from tracy on 205 and eventually on 580. if you're going over the altamont pass, it will take you a bit of time. how about some good news from our weatherman, mister steve paulson? all right. >> thank you. frank. i do have some good news. if you like it a little warmer here. it's nice. now, a lot of high clouds streaming across. that's the only really fly in the ointment here. otherwise, i think we'll get a few near 80 degrees. but some low clouds below it. although they burned off pretty fast, what was making a move on the golden gate? they were there for about an hour and then that was it. napa, atherton, san ramon, san jose yesterday, 77 going upper 70s to near 80 today. little haze has settled in, though it doesn't take long, there's not much of a breeze anywhere, and high pressure does create a little inversion. so i think today is the warmest day, although tomorrow inland could be close. but a lot of high clouds even though the high pressure is winning out, these clouds continue to just break through as we say 40s on some temps. mainly 50s, low 50s on
7:20 am
the temps here. so it won't take long to start warming up. but boy, there's a lot of cloud cover out there and that'll play into our forecast next couple of days. the ridge of high pressure will start to break down a little bit on friday, allowing a bigger increase in low clouds, but for the next couple of days looks pretty good. cooler on friday then a nice rebound for the weekend. happy to say so we're done with rain, right? no. and the climate prediction center's 8 to 14 day outlook shows a normal to above normal rainfall for us, more likely around the 27th 28th. a lot of the global models are dropping another low on us timing, placement, etc. to be determined next week. wednesday warmth though today mix of high clouds, sun warmer 6070 by the water, upper 70s low 80s inland after the little cool down friday. happy to say that weekend with as garcia's name and neon lights saying nicer to warm. >> can i tell you we have like all the makeup, bike races, baseball games and swim meets. we had to cancel last weekend. >> this weekend? you're good. perfect steve. >> thank you. 720 here, a man seen as a rising star in the democratic party and the

7:25 am
>> dublin high school is so full that this community has needed a second high school for a long time. and you know, i believe over the last ten years, this community of dublin has invested a lot of, of money into, into building what we are now standing in emerald high school with the changing demographics here in the bay area. we want to make sure that the experience here at emerald high school reflects the wants and needs of the community it serves. now >> emerald high school will also have a full football field, eight tennis courts and an eight lane track. when it's completed, sonoma county is bringing a new program to its juvenile hall, a new music recording studio. >> the county probation department says the goal is to help the children there promote self-expression, positivity and wellness while they're detained at that facility. >> it allows them to kind of dive deeper into into some of those creative thoughts, and we're just happy to be be a part of, letting them share their story.

7:30 am
this kind of weather, but steve paulson there are people say it's getting a little too warm too early. well as my mother would say, 76 is fine. >> 77 is too hot. okay, so just, there are those who like it a little warmer. some like it 9100. that's not happening. but we will see some near 80 today. there's a lot of high clouds coming in here. the fog is already gone. it disappeared. there was a pretty good fog bank for a while, but now i don't think there's much left. a lot of high clouds, upper 40s. 50s. you can see those clouds coming through there. so mix of sun, high clouds. it'll still be warm ways, though today as we bump up temps a little bit. probably the warmest day of the week, if not maybe a little bit tomorrow inland. but i don't think we're changing too much. but 70s to near 80 degrees. all right. frank mallicoat is here. i don't know, we're going to a bridge, a freeway. where are we going first? bart? bart >> yeah. we got a situation on bart right now. trains are actually not stopping at the bayfair station in san leandro due to police activity at that
7:31 am
station. so if you need to get on bart there or need to get off there, you're going to have to make other arrangements, we'll see how long that lasts. also, a ten minute delay if you're on that antioch line coming into sfo because of some equipment issues. let's get you outside. talk about a little bit of traffic. and if you're on highway 24 on your way to the caldecott, that's lafayette. and those cars are heading towards berkeley, oakland. it is a slow roll, high volume now. and that has slowed down quite a bit in just the last half hour. and we finished with this because many of those cars are on the way to the city. and once they get into berkeley, oakland, they have that at the bay bridge. metering lights have been on for about 2.5 hours, so a slow commute into san francisco, but incident free on the bridge. that's a look at traffic time now. 731 dave, we'll send it back to you. >> okay, frank. thank you. well, early this morning, there was less lighting around oakland's lake merritt because the historic streetlamps lining the lake were vandalized. ktvu
7:32 am
bailey o'carroll is out there right now with more information. good morning. bailey >> good morning dave. a number of those lights here all along this three and a half mile perimeter of lake merritt have been vandalized. i want to show you what they look like now, obviously, the lamp is not there, right? it's completely gone missing. that's because a number of these were actually knocked over. so the city kind of in order to clean them up, had to just completely remove them. now, i again, the number of these lamps have had this happen, which means when people are out walking along the lake at night while they are without light, and even before the sun comes up in the morning, there was a number of people out here walking, and they say that they are noticing that lack of light. now, this problem has been going on for about a month now, and according to the city at last check earlier this month, 34 curb boxes had been broken into about ten light poles were down
7:33 am
just like this one, some because of fallen trees, those though, others because of vandalism. oakland did say that they have deployed teams to repair the down lights and install temporary lights, because it will take the original vendor time to make those new posts. the crew in oakland will also reinforce curb boxes that have not been damaged, in order to hopefully prevent them from being damaged. now, we spoke to a resident who walks this lake almost every day. he didn't want to show his face on camera, but he told us that he's not so much concerned for the safety because of the lack of light. but he says what it means for or could mean when it comes to forshadowing for the city, it's it has become a really, really lovely place in the last 15 years, and it's depressing as #### to see it start to go downhill again, because every time oakland goes downhill, it takes a really long time to get back up. there's no word yet on
7:34 am
if oakland is investigating who exactly did this vandalism, and also how long it could take to get those temporary lights put up here in oakland. i'm bailey o'carroll, ktvu, fox two news. >> bailey, thank you. across the bay, san francisco police say they're investigating reports by three women who say they're victims of rape and abuse by a housing nonprofit director. the first woman to accuse john jacobo of rape posted a seven page document on social media detailing what she says happened in august of 2021. jacobo is seen as a rising star in the local democratic party. he denied the accusations and said the encounter was consensual, according to the sf standard, two other women have filed police reports and jacobo has resigned from his position. san francisco police posted on social media. sfpd is working diligently on these open investigations. we take sexual assault cases very seriously and we work closely with our victims. we urge anyone who is a

if everything is now, scott peterson was convicted, was convicted of killing his wife laci, and their unborn son more than 20 years ago in modesto. >> lawyers with the innocence project say modesto police withheld evidence from defense lawyers and disregarded a robbery that happened near the peterson family home. >> votes are still being counted in berkeley, and a special election to replace a city council member who resigned in january 2nd see berkeley students are running against each other, according to the county elections office. cecilia luna parra is leading over james chang. the race, though, has been overshadowed by a report in the campus newspaper, the daily cal, that says a former volunteer for chang's campaign accuses him of sexual assault, something he denies. >> this is a hit piece. this is a concerted and intentional political attack, and i find it abhorrent and that they would co-opt such a serious subject for political gain. >> i am appalled and saddened that, somebody was affected in

>> boy, did we ever last week. and of course on monday with the protests. but we do have an accident. 680 we told you about it. a southbound motorist lost a trailer, went out to reattach it. then his car was hit. they've cleared the accident. that was right at the intersection of five 8680 southbound. but as you can see, the damage is done. it's a bit of a mess all the way through pleasanton. on your way to sunol. let's jump across the bay, take a look at the peninsula getting over 92, the san mateo bridge. it's kind of push and go there. and there were some early accidents on 101 northbound. you can see some of the remnants thereof, and we figured we'd finish with some good news. it's always a great commute and a beautiful sight. the golden gate, as folks in marin are working their way to san francisco on what looks like a just a go do a day to quote an old meteorologist, steve. >> giddings. yes sir. they go do it weekend. >> go do it weekend. yes, that

this real? >> am i really this, you know, it sounds it sounds like a good joke. >> so we've got this elephant. exactly. >> so, montana, what happens when the elephant crosses the road? >> well, they're finding out in montana as we speak, and, not crossing the bridge right now. the bay bridge has been, very messy all morning long. we're going to we're going to take you there right now. it's beginning to lighten up a little bit, but as soon as it lightened up as you'll see, voila! we got a crash meteor. and lights have been on since after 5:00. and we do have a fender bender on the bridge, so things are going to get worse before they get better. and we're going to take you down to the south bay. they have been busy as well. we had an accident on 280. you can see the slowdowns there, but 101 both north and southbound, a couple of fender benders there as well. so take it slow out there on this wednesday, but do enjoy the day because if you didn't like the music in the 70s, you're going to love the 80s. steve i see what you did there. >> frank, i appreciate it. i

appreciate that, thank you sir. all right. >> my inner sal i'm trying to work on you're you're doing great. >> all right. sun and high clouds. a little haze around the edges now. doesn't take long. when you get a little inversion to set up. that's warm air aloft and warmer. probably about the same, although i think there's an increase in higher clouds tomorrow. cooler little dip in the jet will give us a little bigger fog bank and cooler friday. but the good news is the weekend looks good. about five people have asked me in the last day, are we done with rain? the answer is no, april 8th to the eighth to 14 day outlook here from the climate prediction center, 24th of april through the 30th has us normal to above normal on rainfall. let's see if this works this time. the best bet if you work outside 27th, that's my $0.02 worth. 27th i think is a day. i'm a roofer. i need to know. all right, 27th. i'm a landscaper. i know about 27th, nothing showing up yet, but i do think by this time next week, i think we'll be talking about today, though, we're talking about not much. there's some higher clouds, but that's about it. but boy, there's plenty out there. there's nothing organized. but they'll

just continue to break through the ridge and drift across. highs yesterday were nice. napa, gilroy, concord, san jose, santa cruz, livermore, san rafael, santa rosa, all between 74 and 77. 77 was quite popular. napa, atherton, san ramon, san jose today went 79 to 80 for all for a little bit warmer today. probably the warmest days today. there might be a few tomorrow that are near 80, but i think coast and bay will start to cool a little bit tomorrow. 50s on most of the temps already here won't take long. we are running one to what, five six degrees warmer than 24 hours ago at napa airport, now leading the way at plus six. plenty of high clouds. they'll be on the move next 48 hours. and then a little, as we talked about just a little weak system on friday, which will allow cooler pattern today, though looks to be the warmest day. temperatures bumping up then that cooler friday. but the good news is the ridge of high pressure reloads and starts a little warm up over the weekend. so your wednesday warmth a lot of sun, high clouds, little haze, 60s 70s to near 80 on the temps you guys. >> steve thank you. a man seen by some as a rising star in the

8:32 am
wednesday's warm ways not too bad. it's not bad. i mean we're you know, 80 for us is pretty pretty common sun and high clouds warmer for most. that equals 70 coast bay and near 80 for some inland. all right. frank is here. 831 on a bridge tour again or a freeway tour? >> yeah, we've done that far too many times, actually. we're going to take you out to highway 80 because that's been busy pretty much all morning long. coming down from that carquinez bridge to the maze, get you outside and there she be, holding steady now. just went up a minute 51 minute ride to get you down that stretch of highway 80. that's going to take you nearly an hour. then as soon as you make that right turn and go over to the bay bridge, that is a struggle as well. even worse, though, if you live in the far east bay over here, at least over the oakland hills, that's lafayette highway 24 westbound. it's moving. believe it or not, that's better than it was 15 minutes ago. no incidents. report just about eight o'clock hours deciding. let's commute into the city. and that's what they're doing right now. and that's highway 880 northbound. you could see a little sluggish

going by the coliseum. there is a road hazard at 66th street. in fact, it's a stalled car in the number one lane. so that's slow in your go in that area. we've got an accident on 680 at highway 24 as well. we'll talk about that in our next update. right now it's 832 and we'll send it back to gasia. thank you. >> frank. a key feature in what many consider the center jewel in oakland's crown has been targeted by vandals. ktvu bailey o'carroll live at lake merritt, where some historic street lamps, bailey have been cut down . >> good morning gasia, that is exactly right, those street lamps which surround the three and a half mile perimeter of lake merritt, are being vandalized. now. i want to show you kind of what those look like. so take a look at this video. now, some of these street lamps were knocked down. it's unclear exactly how they did get knocked down. but then the city removed them. so now they just appear to be missing. is what it looks like. if you may just be
8:34 am
walking around the lake now, according to the city at last check earlier this month, 34 curb boxes had been broken into. about ten light poles were down, some because of fallen trees though, others because of the vandalism. oakland representatives said that they have deployed teams to repair the downed lights and install temporary lights because it will take the original vendor some time to make those new historic posts. the crew in oakland will also reinforce curb boxes that have not been damaged, in hopes that they do not get damaged or vandalized. we spoke to a resident who walks in around the lake almost every day. he didn't want to show his face on camera, but he did tell us that he's not so much concerned about the safety because the lack of light from those lights being gone as he is, as what this could mean for the city moving forward. >> it's it has become a really, really lovely place in the last 15 years. and it's depressing as #### to see it start to go
8:35 am
downhill again, because every time oakland goes downhill, it takes a really long time to get back up. >> now, it's unclear if the city is investigating who is responsible for this vandalism. also unclear exactly how long it will take the city to get those temporary lights installed, so that some of those people who are walking either at night when it's dark or in the morning before the sun has come up, don't have to walk in the dark there. reporting live in oakland. i'm bailey o'carroll, ktvu, fox two news. >> bailey thank you. we have some breaking news now at 835 to tell you about the faa ordering all alaska airline flights grounded for a time, but we're told now that they are back flying again. but here's what happened. the federal agency didn't publicly disclose the reason why, but we did hear from cnbc they were reporting that the airline was having issues with its systems. that calculates weights for the planes. we just spoke to a representative at sfo who said just minutes ago that flights

8:40 am
warmer. i think today i remember the weekend was unseasonably cold. i think today is the warmest day, if not a few of the inland locations. tomorrow could also be near 80, but 5060 is on the temps. vacaville is in there . brentwood's in there, mainly 50s. city's already bumped up to 58. san carlos is at 59, so we're getting there. we're running 1 to 6 degrees warmer than 24 hours ago. the napa airport is plus six compared to yesterday. at this time. a lot of high clouds. i mean, they'll they'll just continue to kind of cruise on by here and just drag across us. so a lot of high clouds next couple of days. but temperatures doing their best to bump up. and then i think today is the warmest day, 60s 70s to near 80. unless you're far enough inland and you might get some lower 80s but cooler friday a little dip in the jet stream. but today i think the patchy fog is gone, but high clouds, mild sun, high clouds equals temperatures 70 to 80 for most a few 60s near the coast. tomorrow about the same, if not a slightly cooler, cooler friday. but the good news is a weekend where we get a nice rebound.
