"eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers explains why police in montgomery county are now issuing a warning to parents. >> reporter: morning after trick or treating, it is often on chocolate that starts your day. dump out candy, pick out a piece, and then go for it. thirteen year-old brandon did that on at day but when he opened up the the mini crunch bar there was check late and a razor blaze. >> it is scary that someone would do that in our neighborhood. >> reporter: blade was laying on top inside what he still thinks was a sealed rapper. brandon immediately told mom, jennifer. >> i didn't know what to do. what do you do when you find a razor blade in candy. >> reporter: she called police who hadn't dealt with this thing either. >> first for our township. you hear about it a lot. but thinks first we have ever experienced it. >> reporter: police took razor blade as evidence that is why we cannot see it but they spread word around lansdale area handing out flyers telling people to check their candy. jennifer told thaws brandon

only said trick or treat on a few blocks close to her house. >> i'm thinking who would be that crazy to take the time to reseal a piece of candy with a blade in it. >> reporter: because is there a limited amount of houses involved police say it will be that much easier to focus their investigation, they say they will go door to door, asking questions. >> if we have to, we will, the good part it is a close community and everybody but one person in that community wants to us find out who it is. >> reporter: police say they will perform a forensic examination on the blade itself to see if any information, can be found that way. we're in lansdale, matt rivers, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meanwhile police arrested aid long time mummer and his daughter in connection with a attack on man. carmen and rita deamato were seen on the surveillance video. suspects approached victim at second and carpenter last saturday month. man hit that rick tim in the chest with the baseball bat, and man shot the victim in the leg as he tried to get away.

carmen, was induct in the fancy brigade's hall of fame in 2006. an accident on the roosevelt boulevard in the northeast leaves two people dead, police say a car hit a with man and man who ran into traffic. it happened just before 6:00 saturday morning at borbeck avenue in rhawnhurst. vehicle did stop. unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene, but woman died about an hour later. at the hospital. well a with man is fighting for her life after being struck by two cars right outside temple university hospital. the first car that hit her, stopped, the second, kept right on going. philadelphia police are looking to see if there is surveillance video that may have caught a glimpse of that fleeing vehicle. well, search is on for a knife wielding suspect who stabbed a man in frankford, police say it happened inside a sandwich shop at frankford and margaret earlier saturday morning. thirty-one year-old victim was stabbed four times in the face and the head. he is now in critical condition. a team of investigators

with the national transportation safety board is looking into the crash of a space tourism company's passenger spaceship in california's mohave decemberers. virgin galactic founder met with employees yesterday. daniel nottingham has more. >> reporter: more than a dozen investigators from the national transportation safety board are in the in mohave desert examining data and combing site where virgin galactic's spaceship two blew apart and crash, the accident, killed a temp pilot. >> wreckage is located on a large area or oriented north east to southwest about 5 miles from end to end. >> reporter: the spacecraft, crashed friday afternoon during a test flight, 39 year-old michael allbury was kill, his co pilot four three-year old peter sea bold was seriously injured after parachuting to safety. ntsb says because the accident happened on the test flight it has more data than usual for its investigation. on saturday virgin galactic's

on the campaign trail there. wolf is currently leading in the polls. meanwhile republican incumbent governor tom corbett also campaigning today, corbett, will stop by rally in bucks count which new jersey governor chris christie. yesterday, corbett spoke to workers in the scranton area both candidates urging the public to get out and vote on tuesday. well, there is a new place to play poker in philadelphia and players could not be happier. handshakes and applause as first customers entered the temporary, 24 table poker room at sugar house casino. poker is expect to generate 11 million-dollar in just 13 months. expansion efforts began in july, the 164 in million-dollar project is expected to more than double the size of the fishtown casino. and happening right now, runners are getting ready to lays up for a good cause. the run to bridge the 10k benefiting a new jersey school for children with disabilities. campbell's field where runners are just starting to arrive, right syma. >> reporter: that is right, nicole, registration begins in just a a few minutes and this is one of the largest 10k's in the country tri-state area run the bridge starts on the base of the ben franklin bridge on the new jersey side, last year there were about 5,000 runners participating. they will cross bridge make their way to philadelphia and come right back here to campbell's field. opening ceremonies start at 7:50. the race itself starts at 8:30 and this toys benefit the the lark school and non-profit organization helping children with disabilities. this event has started since 2002 so it has been around for a long time and each year it seems to be growing and growing. folks again running will be on the ben franklin bridge which means that the bridge will be closed from 7:45, to 9:30. if you need to get from new jersey to philadelphia a your best betties to use the betsy ross or the walt whitman, so

and new this morning, no injuries were reported after a fire breaks out at walt disney world. this happened last night near the seven dwarfs mine train after a fire works show there. all of the riders were able to get off safely and fire fighters got control of the flames. the ride reopened about an hour later. there is no word yet on the extent of the damages, scary sight though, wow. several homes are evacuated after downpours caused mud slides in southern california. one man was entrapped inside his house for a short time and later found safe.

find something heavy rain gannon thursday. so we will continue to machine for that situation, otherwise, lets get through today, windy day, looks pretty, 42 degrees in philadelphia, 41 trenton. thirty-nine in wilmington. look at these number and go it is november after all but we will factor in the wind and it feels like 33 degrees out there this morning, in philadelphia, 32 in trenton. thirty-five in wilmington. feels like 29 in millville because of the wind. if you are out earlier this morning, jackets on and pets in. we have to keep them very comfortable as well. so, very cold temperatures, this morning. made colder by the wind. they are sustained out of the northwest, 23 miles an hour, in philadelphia and they are gusting over 30 miles an hour. so you get the idea that this is going to be a windy day and throughout the middle of the day it could get even more winnie. storm scan three shows some of the clouds but also the precipitation leaving. this is a big area of low pressure. a lot of it is over here but some have on it is finding

enough energy to trigger a couple showers and this is through chesapeake and then even south of the baltimore area so cold out there though, by tomorrow morning, especially that there is a freeze, just say freeze warning, because there is a freeze wúrning in effect, as we go well to the west of philadelphia, but boy i'll tell you these temperatures are starting to come down. we've got high pressure building in and as that high builds in the area and low leaves we are getting these wind coming down here and that is why it will be so cold today. 50 degrees probably the a actual temperature but it will feel colder than that. then tomorrow, we're into the 50's and then by tuesday we're into the 60's and maybe well in the 60's in advance of the next system that comes here. so we will tend to warm up before a cold front. future weather what to we see? clear skies. sailing, wonderful, blue, sailing, and we are looking at the conditions on tuesday, even that we're going to be finding with just a couple clouds to start the the day but it will be mild on tuesday. our future winds, notice, by

wind and able to move those clouds around quickly. you'll find that as well as you step outside the door today, 42 at the airport in philadelphia. thirty-nine in wilmington. forty-one in trenton. forty-three in dover and wildwood, and as you head to doylestown it is 39 degrees. quakertown 38 degrees. mount holly 41. then factor in the wind and it feels like the freezing mark or below in some locations. feels like 18 degrees in the poconos right now. feels like freezing mark in allentown. feels like 29 degrees in millville. our temperatures today will warm up. we will get close to the 50-degree mark today, there will be a cold wind out there all day long. wind gusting to between 30 and 40 miles an hour and we are seeing wind gust about that speed. as we get through time notice clouds start to leave us and we are left with the nice looking day. it will be feeling just a lot different than that. when i come back we will talk about a warm up and another chance of some showers on the seven day, nicole. >> carol, thank you. local k-9 officers who

participated in the manhunt for eric frein are back home sharing their experiences. frein was captured at an abandoned airport hanger on thursday after spending 48 days on the run. prosecutors charge him with first degree murder if the september 12th ambush in which corporal brian dickson was shot and killed and trooper alex douglass was wounded. officers say frein's capture was a team effort. >> when this were sightings we brought the dogs out, to go from the the last possible spot that he was seen, and then sent a dog on the track and see if he pick up on anything. >> it is always in the back of your mind that he could pick you off anywhere, and plus the traps he had had set up, so it was two things to worry about. >> big sigh of relief for those officers. meanwhile they were part of some type of deaccept i have iron dog challenge to help support family of the plymouth township police officer brad fox, who was kill in the line of cute any 2012. a u.s. marine who for the

in afghanistan is back home in florida avenue spending seven months in the mexican prison. cbs news correspondent wendy gilette tells us the role post traumatic stress disorder may have played in the judge's decision. >> reporter: private plane touched down in miami early saturday, finally bringing home marine sergeant andrew thomasreese. he gave a wave and smile before leaving in the suv. he was freed friday night from a mexican jail, where he spent the past eight months. he was arrested after crossing the border with loaded guns. he said he had made a wrong turn on a california freeway and never intended to enter mexico. state department and u.s. politicians for the for his release. >> we have to stand behind our veterans, when they are at war and when they are civilians. >> reporter: plane flew from mexico to san diego before heading to florida. mexican judge's order said he was freed because of his mental state.

he served in afghanistan and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. the 26 year-old will now begin treatment as well as reconnect with his family. >> they're back together, you know, it was a very nice reunion this morning and i think they will spend a little time as a family. >> reporter: family spokesperson said after months in jail, he is looking forward to a sea food dinner. wendy gilette for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, five people were killed early saturday morning when flames tore through an apartment building in portland, maine. one person was critically injured, he jumped from a second floor window. seven others escaped. police are still trying to account for several people who had been in the halloween party inside that same building the night before. investigators are still searching for the cause. los angeles area police are looking for the driver who crashed into and killed three teenage girls who were trick or treating. girls were in a crosswalk near an elementary school in santa

survivor nina pham. >> just such a joyous occasion. >> reporter: these images provided by dallas show the moment they were reunited, mr. bentley had been quarantined for 21 days following fears he too was infect with ebola but thankfully he never was. >> would i like to take the moment to thank people from all around the world who sent their best wishes and players to me and bentley. >> reporter: nina is now ebola free and could not be happier to have her dog back in her arms, even bat welling her own ordeal she said her four leg friend was always top of mine. >> after i was diagnosis with ebola i didn't know what would happen to bentley or if he would have a virus. >> reporter: for 21 days bentley was looked after by dallas animal services and team of vets from texas a and m. judging by smiles on her face it is clear man's best friend knows a thing or two about healing and while this pair gets used to life post ebola scare the young nurses looking ahead to her future.
