the satellite image shows a big thunderstorm cells in mississippi around the river, also toward alabama. it is moving rather rapidly. these are extremely strong cells, the strongest of the season so far. a much quieter situation here so far. we have only had a few sprinkles in the area, and even the activity in the southwest is not very strong. again, we are at the leading edge right now, rain to our activity for the time being. it could become more active monday, as well. we will talk about that coming up with the instaweather forecast in detail in just a few minutes. >> a sinking boat on middle river. a distress call came to the coast guard at 3:00 this morning from a man on the boat

burnie just before 10:30 p.m. the officer says he had no choice after watching the suspect have a violent altercation with his girlfriend and then coming after the officer. >> the suspect would not comply with requests. the officer used his taser on two occasions. the suspect was acting in a violent manner to rep. the incident and continue to do so towards the officer and the female victim. >> today, it is girlfriend is claiming that this is a case of excessive force, telling 11 news she was not being insulted and when she was handcuffed, she would not tell police report from's name. -- she would not tell the police her boyfriend's name. when we called to ask about the accusation, arnudel county

police said they are standing by their original statement. the officer in question is a three-year veteran of the force and was not injured. his name is not being released by the police. a senate showdown on financial reform is set for monday. republicans will vote against any bill that allows bank bailouts. but new information about wall street backers could give the bill to boost it needs. brian moore is in washington. >> they decided to clean up wall street, but it faces a key test in the senate monday. >> it is time to simply say publicly that they are suggesting this bill still needs some work. >> it needs to overcome republican opposition. efforts to block the bill appear to be softening.

sprinkle and shower activity. a stationary front for west virginia and the carolinas, back to illinois and iowa. we have a second front associated with stronger storms in the southeast. pressure holds temperatures down, brings moisture in, and produces the clouds. here's the strong storm activity. earlier, it was in mississippi, and i want to revert to the satellite image to show you these impressive storms. 1:00 this afternoon, it was this storm activity that produced extensive damage around yazoo city, mississippi. on to 2:00
