>> announcer: nbc 10 breaking news. >> a developing weather situation. big changes that begin with this rain that could affect your morning commute. good efing. good evening, that developing weather situation in a minute. we begin with breaking news in delaware county. sky force 10 around 8:30 tonight where police say two robbery suspect suspects they were chasing crashed their car. . >> reporter: police assure us

they have a very good description of the subject. he ran that way. his friend on the other end ran this way down the street behind me while all the police activity was unfolding. the sergeant was hot on his tails. there's some sort of altercation and then the landsdale sergeant shot him. >> reporter: the officer opens fire. >> i just heard, like, three or four shots. that's what i heard. >> monica wilson has lived here for 12 years. it's a first for her. police say two guys robbed a pharmacy and then were chased until they crashed here on bradford road. >> we saw some guy hop out of his car, run left and then 30 cop cars came by. >> reporter: have you ever seen anything like this before in your life? >> no, that's the first time. . >> reporter: officers used flashlights scouring streets.

police are hopeful. >> we've got a very, very good description. apparently, they left id in the car and we're working on that as i speak to you right now. >> reporter: speaking on working (inaudible ]. mark the crime scene behind us. philadelphia police have been notified about this suspect. as for the other suspect, he was shot in the leg and the bullet went through. we understand he's being treated at the university -- the ho hospital of the university of pennsylvania. reporting live, nbc 10 news. >> now, to first alert meteorologist sheena parvine. >> yes, in fact, some of us are seeing the rain, ef even a coup thunderstorms. big low pressure sits off to our west. we'll zoom into parts of delaware seeing some heavy rain right now. and you can see the heavy rain

just continuing to move towards the delaware beaches. and this did have lightning in it earlier. not seeing any right now, but overnight tonight, there's a chance of an isolated thunderstorm. moving up to dover, more steady rain even into newark. you see the moisture feeding in around the south. this will slowly slide up through the area as we go overnight tonight. here's what future weather is showing it's picking up on the moisture. it's picking up from south to north as we go through the overnight hours. some of you for the morning commute may be dealing with showers and even more wind along with cooler temperatures. i'll show you the timing of that coming up. >> sky force 10 over a building that an suv crashed into. we're told the driver of the suv was taken to the hospital with injuries.

no one else was hurt. police tell us a man was hit by a car and killed while walking near route 73 and remington avenue in pensauken. it happened just before 11:00. people tell us the car did stop. a fire in burlington county tonight at the north gate apartments along the burlington bypass. we're told that nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution. we're told the fire was quickly put under control. >> sky force 10 overhead as a caravan of dirt bikes paraded through philadelphia for several hours today. police decided not to pursue the group as they pay tribute to a fallen comrade. today's tribute followed his funeral. nbc 10 has been talking about why they decided to pull back

and not follow. >> reporter: for safety reasons, philadelphia police say they do not give chase in situations like this. as for this case, they say earlier today, everything was fine and there were no traffic concerns. and then things got a little rowdy during the evening commute and that's when they were forced to step in. sky force 10 was overhead as people on atvs and dirt bikes took over philadelphia streets. hundreds of riders weave in and out of traffic while revving their engines and popping wheellies. >> it wasn't like we were just trying to disrupt traffic or anything like that. we were just trying to show some loef to someone we lost. >> it was all in honor of a popular local stunt rider kyrell tyler. he was shot and killed in southwest philadelphia last week. today's ride followed his funeral and memorial service. >> they cut in and out of lanes and everything and, you know, i don't think it's safe.

>> many drivers we spoke to say the riders are a dangerous nuisance. >> i think they're, like, for dirt roads. they shouldn't be riding them on the streets. you put other people in danger. >> reporter: at the start of the tribute, police admit they gave riders a bit of a break because they were mourning their friend. police were forced to crack down. dozens of officers including those with the off-road motorcycle patrol were called in to calm things down. >> we are now doing a little bit of a push to get some of the riders off of the street, again, to make sure we ensure the safety of those that are commuting. >> reporter: now, it is important to note that it is illegal to ride most dirt bikes and all atvs on the city streets. but, tonight, no one was arrested. meantime, there has not been an arrest in this murder. police say there is a $20,000 reward. live in center city, nbc 10 news. >> all pocono district schools

are set to remain open tomorrow. they made the announcement tonight saying police officers will be on siet at the swift water campus. this comes after the search for eric frein came close to schools. today, classes were cancelled as the k-9 zeshsearched the woods a dump materialster near the camp. nbc 10 has learned that the fbi has asked to look at video from the school to verify thesighteding. at 17, she is the youngest recipient of the nobel peace prize, accepting the liberty medal in philadelphia. her courageous advocacy has made her an international icon. the past three recipients of the liberty medal are former secretary of state hillary clinton, boxing great muhammad ali and robert gates.

each year, it's given to someone who strives to secure freedom for people around the world. nbc 10's luan chan was there and joins us live from independence mall. >> ulala speaks with such passion. she had the crowd laughing when she told everyone that she tried to get out of her homework, unsuccessfully, before she came here to accept this prestigious award. 1400 people filled the tent outside the national constitution center to see for themselves the youngest person to be awarded the nobel peace prize. and, now, the liberty medal. >> it's not just a golden medal which you wear, but it's hope. it's courage. and it's support. >> she says she had no choice but to speak out when the taliban took away the right for girls the go to school in pakistan. >> and i decided it because i

had two option. one was not to speak and wait to be killed. and the second was to speak and then be killed. and i chose the second one because i did not want to live in that situation of oppression. i did not live in the situation of terrorism. >> she nearly was killed, shot by the taliban. the crowd laughed when she said i think they made a mistake. >> and strength, power and courage was born. >> those who came to be inspired were not disapointed. >> it gives you that encouragement. you want to do better. >> i want my daughter to have a role model like malala to understand how important it is to fight for what you believe in. >> i think to see a young person inspire other young people was what was most moving for me. >> malala now goes to school outside of london.

she says the hundred thousand dollar award that goes along with that medal is going to help educate children in her native country of pakistan. live at the national constitution center, luan chan, nbc 10 news. >> now, to school budget crisis. a hearing is set for tomorrow morning over the contract fight between the philadelphia school reform commission and the teachers' union. yesterday, they issued a ruling so the teachers will not have to pay for their own health benefits. both sides will argue their case tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. new information tonight about the alleged sexual abuse of high school football players in north jersey. the board of education voted unanimously tonight to suspend five coaches in connection with those hazing accusations. seven players have already been charged with crimes ranging from

hazing to sexual assault in what witnesses described as a locker room bonding process. tonight, the team's head coach and four assistants were suspended with pay. the board says it will conduct a full investigation into the program. from our jersey sure bureau tonight, we learned former north wild wood mayor bill henfey has passed away after a lengthy illness. he served as mayor from 2006 to last year. he was 65 years old. turning now to the latest on concerns over ebola. tonight, an nbc freelance camera man has been cleared of the virus and will be released from the hospital. ashoka mukpo will be allowed to leave a bio treatment unit tomorrow after contracting ebola while in liberia. starting tomorrow, new travel

restrictions go into effect to help fight the ebola outbreak. travelers will be required to enter through one of five u.s. airports, including new york's liberty, new york's kennedy and washington's dulles air port. the new plan that could make your prescription costs go way up. plus, another major retailer warning of a credit card breech tonight. and art erased. the controversial mural painted over in one area. >> i'm tracking showers moving into the area right now. even some moving some thunderstorms. i'll show you what the time line is for tomorrow's rain and just how cool and windy it will be, too. that's next.

a. >> new at 11:00, the city of trenton covers up a mural of michael brown.

painted the mural on a vacant store front. michael brown was shot by a police officer in ferguson, missouri back in august. the 18-year-old was unarmed at the time. and that shooting set off weeks of unrest in the st. louis suburb, which you see some of here. nbc 10 has the story of why the mural of michael brown was removed from the streets of trenton. >> reporter: there is no trace of a mural of mike brown once painted prominently at the corner of north broad and east hanover in trenton. the trenton downtown association removed it yesterday at the urging of several police officers who were unconfidentmf with the message. >> the intent was to get a reaction, not to further divide us. >> reporter: while meant to stir up dialogue, was not meant to throw digs at local police.

but local police tell us the image of michael brown gunned down by a police officer in ferguson was a distraction and undermined the good police intentions. the word michael brown and sagging pants is not probable cause must come down. >> i was shocked by the organizations that were espousing to have the same goal in mind. >> reporter: caitlin fare started a change petition which has garnered 193 signatures. with or woithout the mural, chandry says it already did its job by starting people talking. >> we've got to work through it creatively. >> that was nbc 10's denise mukano reporting. tonight, word of yet another possible data breech at a popular retailer. staples is investigating whether its personal data may have been

compromised. the office supply chain has been in touch with law enforcement about the issue and if it discovers there was a breech, customers will not be responsible for any faud ewe lent charges. cvs has stopped selling tobacco products and warns customers to think twice at stores that do. starting next year,caremark may charge up to $15 in additional co-pays for customers who fill pri prescriptions outside of its new tobacco-free network. hundreds came out for a red carpet celebration in delaware county tonight. >> all right, nearly 700 students, parents and staff kicked off their first-ever night of the arts through a grant and community investment, the school recently hired 12 new

music and art teachers and boug it bought new instruments. these boys and girls are all set for a spooktacular halloween this year, thanks to the generosity of others. nbc 10 and the shane victorino was in boystown club and teamed up with costumes.com to provide costumes to children in need. it's all part of a campaign to kids across the country to give them a halloween to remember. >> announcer: now, your nbc 10 first alert weather and meteorologist sheena parvine. >> well, we have some rain moving into the area right now and some of this will be sticking around for the morning commute. parts of delaware and chester county seeing the rain. more rain and wind tomorrow, even cooler temperatures, there will come in with the rain and the wind. right now, pretty cool outside. about the mid 50s.

58 degrees right now in ben salem. and where we're seeing the rain in delaware, temperatures in the mid 50s. millville coming in at 60 degrees. 51 in atlantic city. the rain is moving into parts of delaware and some of the heavier rain is through sussex county. this is one thunderstorm. we've been seeing a few strikes of lightning in this thunderstorm. lewes, delaware about to see this soon. it just moved through georgetown. so, again, it will be heading towards delaware beaches and then sliding to the north. so we are continuing to see the light to moderate rainfall in parts of kent county. this will basically slide up to the north into parts of south jersey and even into the philadelphia area. we're seeing showers in parts of chester county, east notingham starting to see a little rainfall in the vicinity, at least. and even a few isolated showers

bucks county. newtown, you have one, small, shower headed your way. this will bagsically be the case. we have a lot of moisture in parts of the northeast. so the rain will be here in the overnight hours and especially tomorrow. here's what future rain is showing. all the moisture moves up through the north through the area. possibly along our shore towns, we could certainly be seeing some rain and then going into the middle of the day, scattered showers around. the wind will be there,too. so windy and cooler. pig with e big pi big picture shows some rain and ef en even as we go through wednesday morning and thursday, they'll stick around. for tonight, though, scattered showers, chance of a thunderstorm. so we could see a couple isolated thunderstorms.

52 philadelphia, 42 north and west. tomorrow, winds e wincould be gg around 30 miles an hour. when you get caught in a shower and temperatures are in the mid 50s, it doesn't feel too great, especially combined with the wind. winds will be from the north and north east. that's why this is called a nor'easter. so, on thursday, we will keep the rain and a clouds and the wind and etch cooler tempven co temperatures in the forecast. it's not going to clear out until friday. at least going into the weekend looks good with temperatures back in the mid 60s. >> i can't believe we're already talking about a nor'easter and it's only october. i know this one doesn't bring snow. >> no, be very happy that this is not the nor'easter that brings snow. >> i guess it's a good thing that the eagles had a bye week? >> yeah, the eagles are getting healthy as they head into
