they win tonight over green bay 44-23. game balls, drew brees as you might suspect, brees for the night. 27 of 32. 310 yards, no picks and three tds. mark ingram carried it 24 times for 172 yards and a touchdown. cam jordan had a couple of sacks. all three get game balls and their likenesses on the side of the sunday night football bus and two of them, brees and ingraham get the talk of talking with michelle. >> drew, earlier you told us this offense was sort of like a race horse that had been held back too long and you just needed to let the reigns loose. why was tonight the night? >> well, because the season is passing us by. so we had to get it together. great night to do it. sunday night football here in the super dome. we're able to turn it loose. we hit on all cylinders. run game is great. mark had a great night. offensive line did phenomenal. defense came up with huge plays. stopped them in the red zone and got turnovers.

it was a great team victory. >> mention the offensive line, tim lolita makes his first career start at center. yet the line doesn't seem to miss a beat. what stood out about their performance? >> well, you know, they hand ld a lot. down the stretch you want to be able to close out games offensively. in many cases you have to do that with the run game. and our guy dz a great job of it. last two drives, it was just all runs. and they powered their way through it. mark had a big run at the end to seal the deal with the touchdown. but can't say enough about the guys up front. >> and mark ingram who we're going to talk to next, big, big night. career night. what was it that made this the time for him to breakthrough? >> well, you know, when he two backs down, pierre and mark carried the load and did it masterfully. obviously, guys up front did a heck of a job to get him the holes that he got. man, he made a the love guys miss and broke a lot of tackles. listen, he just did what we all know he can do and we've seen it

fishermen rush to the rescue when a mother throws her baby in to the ocean in atlantic city. an empty carriage left behind as a story of heroism emerges. good evening. police believe the woman you suicidal when she headed toward the water with a baby in her arms. now she's facinguátáy this unfolded this afternoon at the end of pacific avenue at the boardwalk in the city's in inlet section. we talked to the heros who risked their lives to save the

mom and baby. >> given the potential bad outcomes in the case, it is a miracle that mother and daughter are recovering in the hospital. >> are you all right? >> the fishermen knew something was wrong as they watched the woman carrying an infant girl. >> we saw a lady walk to the rocks with the baby. he said where are you going with that baby? she didn't say nothing. she kept walking. by he time we got over there the lady was in the water. >> atlantic city police say the mother had thrown her daughter in to the bay and jumped in. luis ortiz was fish ing nearby. >> i let her know i'm going in for you. but don't panic and try to grab me and that's it. i fwhent after her. >> retired firefighter thomas bell happened to be on the jetty and performed cpr on the child. >> the lady handed me the baby. i did two mouth breathes, patted her on the back. she spit up a lot of water. i just ran down the jetty and

gave it to the ems people there. >> both were taken to the hospital and investigators identified the mother as 24-year-old patricia shurig. the incident haunts the rescuer sfwls i don't know about her here or anything, i hope she can get help. >> you know i'm thinking about why? what was going through that lady's mind to put herself and her child in danger like that? >> reporter: police say patricia shurig will face at the very least second degree aggravated assault charges. she's being held on $100,000 bail. in atlantic city, doug shimell, nbc 10 news. police are looking for the gunman who killed a man at point blank range. 911 calls started just after 9:00 tonight. police arrived on forest avenue and west oak lane to find the victim dead in the street. he had just left a friend's home and was shot in the head and back. investigators are looking to see if city surveillance cameras were rolling. dozens of dirt bikes and

atvs are off the streets after a sting by police. it is part of a crackdown on those vehicles that are illegal on city streets. they are trying to prevent scenes like where riders were weaving in and out of traffic. police showed the 4 dirt bike and atvs they confiscated throughout the city and that's just what they got until 7:00 tonight. officers are still at it tonight searching for more of these. police say the scene last week wasn't the reason for today 's sting but highlighted the dangers of these types of vehicles. >> very reckless, they are riding on sidewalks, it is definitely a public safety hazard. that's one of the reasons we can't chase them. we adopt know what they are going to do if we chase them. they are going to take off. they don't have lights on a lot of the vehicles. >> along with the confiscated vehicles, police arrested two people riding stolen dirt bikes.

septa riworkers authorized strike. they belong to the local 234, the largest 0 of septa's unions. the work has been working without a contract since spring. the key sticking point are pensions and health care. >> we have to strike, we'll strike. as of right now, i'm tired of coming home hurt, exhausted, broke, just being able to make it. >> i was on my way to buy a weekly ticket and as soon as you said strike, i'm like forget it, i'll drive. >> septa says it has been given no indication a strike is imminent. there will be an update today from the union. >> it is cooling down out there after a beautiful weekend. most people walking around

rittenhouse square tonight had on their jackets. it's been unusually warm the past few days and brittany is here to tell us how long will it last? >> we will warm up but in to tomorrow close to average. dropping down to the 60. we are seeing quiet conditions right now on our radar shot. if we take a closer look at center city we will see clear skies. a cold night ahead, especially if you live in lancaster county where we will see a frost advisory until 9:00 a.m. we could see a little patchy frost and that will extend to the poconos. right new in philadelphia, 56 degrees. clear skies, low humidity and our wind speeds have relaxed out of the northwest at six miles an hour. as you head to work tomorrow or maybe taking the kids to the bus stop, temperatures in the suburbs will start off on the cool side, 40 degrees. 45 in the city and as we head to the afternoon we will see temperatures closer to average. closer look at what to expect. warmer days, back to the 70s.

chance of showers in the seven-day forecast and i'm tracking halloween chill. i will let you know what to expect in the seven-day forecast. now to the latest on ebola concerns. new york governor andrew cuomo tonight backed off earlier tough quarantine standards for doctors who had contact with patients. he is ordering home quarantines instead of hospitals and new jersey's governor ordered twice a damon toring. the government will reelise national guidelines for returning medical workers. this is coming as a nurse quarantined at a new york hospital said her isolation is inhumane. randy gyllenhaal talked to her lawyer and said this may be a constitutional battle. >> reporter: nurse kaci hickox stays another night in the

hospital. she has hired an attorney to get her out. >> she's in a tent. we were given two plastic chairs where we sat. we were able to talk to her through a plastic window. >> civil liberties lawyer norman siegel spent 75 minutes with kaci hickox. the doctors without borders nurse is confined to a plastic tent an can't leave since a state order mandates anyone who had contact with ebola victims must be isolated for three weeks. >> she's been tested. she's normal. there's no fever. >> reporter: her attorney says this order announced by governor chris christie amounts to an unconstitutional violation of her rights and they are suing the state to get kaci out. >> we believe the medical directors should be executing these policies not politicians. >> she presented with a fever. >> reporter: speaking on a

campaign stop he said the nurse had a fever at the airport and more importantly recently treated ebola victims in sierra leone. >> i understand miss hickox is uncomfortable. i understand she doesn't want to be quarantined, but my greater responsibility is the 8.9 million people of the state of new jersey. >> reporter: even the white house is cdc is weighing in trying to get new jersey to back off. new york city city mayor bill de blasio says health workers must be treated like human beings. >> the problem is this hero coming back from the front having done the right thing was treated with disrespect, was treated with a sense that she had done something wrong when she hadn't. >> reporter: this lawsuit will be filed later this week. hickox's attorney says the case could set precedent for the rest of the country when it comes to mandatory medical quarantines. nbc 10 news. you can count on nbc 10 to help to ease your concerns about

>> police tell nbc 10 the officer will be disciplined for his actions. so far, no charges have been filed. the video shows a uniformed philadelphia police officer walking with students. as he walks toward the middle of the group the officer raises his hand toward one student and you can hear him cursing at him. nbc 10 e-mailed the video to high-ranking officers. one officer responded, quote, the video i does not reflect well on the officer. i have no doubt he had good reason to be exasperated but no you have to maintain professional demeanor. in washington state a community is trying to come to grips with the school shooting that left a gunman and another student dead and four others critically wounded. some are sharing details about the tragedy, but one question remains why and how did this happen? brian mooar reports. >> reporter: in a washington state community, shaken by violence, it was a day of prayer
