commissioners, it is called the liquor board. the sign on the window says they are closed until afternoon. what we are seeing that you cannot see now is fbi agents occasionally going back and forth, carrying boxes of files that they are going through. what we have been told by sources is that two people have in fact been arrested in connection with this operation. one of them actually a member of the liquor board. one of the commissioners. another is a staff member here, and we are told that there are also search warrant's being served at other locations in the county. as a matter fact, two liquor stores. this has to do with the activities of the liquor commission and related to their work. it is not, a source has told us, related in any way to the recent dwi arrest of the former commissioner of the liquor board. it is one of the few times that this operation has been in the news, and it is not related to that. to recap, this raid is going on right now, the fbi is still inside. yo

the door, and there are search warrants being served at liquor stores as well in the county. we expect that some of the court documents involved in this federal operations will be unsealed this afternoon, and we will be able to bring you more information later on today. in largo, brad bell, abc 7 news. jummy: all right, brad committee white. another big -- brad, thank you. piece of news -- out west, heavy snow blanketing colorado. it will not be that bad here, though. abc 7 stormwatch chief meteorologist doug hill begins our team coverage this noon. doug: not that bad as the far west mountains in sierra nevada, is the first measurable fall of the winter, and especially overnight we will get a little accumulation. winter weather advisory in effect from 5:00 p.m. this afternoon

morning. it starts a little sooner north and west. you notice the metro area south and east not under an advisory. that has to do with timing and accumulation. doppler radar picking up some snow, most of it not reaching the ground, but there are a few flurries here. we will see a few more later on. the bulk of the energy out west. that will overspread the region tonight. the heaviest snow looking relations will be a. snow bands feature you notice it will narrow down. it will be more like a band. our futurecast timing shows life :00, we will have some snow starting, but it will be later tonight, eighth: 30, 9:00 in the overnight hours, probably ending 4:00, 5:00 in the morning, temperatures falling below freezing. ccording to this computer model, maybe an inch or more in the metro area, but certainly more north and west, farther south, not much of anything. much more in

jummy: we will see you then, doug. kruse prepped our roadways under stationing salt and plow trucks. suzanne kennedy has more on what you can expect. suzanne: the retreating started in the district, maryland and virginia yesterday. take a look behind me here in northeast washington. this is what they are using -- salt brine, which prevents salt and ice from binding -- snow and ice from binding on the roadways. they have over 300 pieces of equivalent to deploy to handle this winter weather event, whistle begin this afternoon. 750 people are taken to the roadways to manage the lane miles in d.c. in maryland, highway patrol are asking people to make smart decisions about whether they have to drive first thing tomorrow morning. they say if possible, delay commuting so crews can

control the manually. most of those trains experienced delays of up to 10 minutes or so. the problem only lasted for about an hour. is recoveringee this noon from serious injuries after falling more than 30 feet. it happened last night underneath a sidewalk grate along wisconsin avenue near the bethesda metro station. our sam sweeney explains how it happened and shows us the rescue efforts. sam: afternoon. all of this unfolded around 1:30 this morning when i metro employee was underneath this great trying to clean up debris and trash. everything was ok when he was over here, but once he gets to this point underneath the great, that is when things went south. he fell more than 35 feet, the fall so bad, he could not get himself out. emergency crews from montgomery county fire and rescue came to the scene, and they did what is called a confined space extrication. take a look at the video. you can see how big this operatn

an attack in turkey took place outside a courthouse. police believe three men set of a car bomb before engaging in a shootout with officers. to of the gunmen were killed in the shootouts. another suspect that away. this follows the nightclub attack in istanbul that left 39 people dead. the family of charlotte zaremba will say their final goodbyes this weekend. they released details. she was shot and killed inside her bedroom early new year's day. her mother was also shot. the suspect 15-year-old sean kreiser, shot himself and i from the wound on tuesday. police say kreiser did not know emba, and it appears to be a robbery or home invasion attack. we will show you how road crews got compared. coming up on abc 7, we will show you how people are getting ready across the area.

>> you are watching abc 7 news at noon, on your side. back. welcome so far, a fire on an oil platform in the gulf of mexico has yet to cause any illusions you're the coast guard says the fire was reported around 2:30 is morning about 80 miles off the coast of louisiana. the fire has been suppressed, but it is not completely out just yet. for people rescued after jumping into the water, but no injuries were reported. aw information this noon little closer to home about that fire at a popular ice rink in port washington. it has been ruled accidental, saying it started in the ceiling of a light fixture and caused an estimated $500,000 in damage. inclined to two alarms and took fire

hours to put out. managers say they will make decisions about repair work and reopening it. turning to our stormwatch coverage now, we are a few hours away from the first snowfall of the season. as is often the case, people are taking note chances stocking up for supplies to our john gonzales has that story from burtonsville. we have been seeing this pretreating here in maryland. the roads have been pretreated with the salt and briane mix. hardware stores receive their morning shipments that are geared toward the snow. they have the generators, the snow shovels -- machine, itcurrent is 27 years old, and it needs an upgrade. john: are you a fan of this stuff, the snow? >> no.

doug: yep. we will be surprised to see snow flurries before long. the weather will wait until tonight until after sunset before light snow starts across the area. if you are just joining us, the national weather service issued a winter weather advisory in effect this evening through tomorrow morning, 5:00 in the morning north of the metro area. that is where we will the biggest issues regarding travel. icy spots, snow response, that is the area north of montgomery, western loudoun, all the way up line. pennsylvania as far as the forecast of the day, we will keep it cloudy, clouds are lower and thicker, there could be flurries in the late afternoon. we're thinking mainly after 8:00 today is steadier, light snow. system.a fast-moving we are picking of snow on doppler radar, and most of it is evaporating, drying up before it reaches the ground. stafford county, south and

based on what we are seeing on doppler radar, that will be the story in a many areas for the next few hours. the main area of snow and energy is back to the west of the mountains, moving across kentucky. if you notice the amount of snow, how it narrows down, it looks like we will be dealing with a band of snow moving through the area with the thought that most of it will be in fact north of the metro area. futurecast kind of there's this out as we head through the afternoon hours. , then thisstorm evening, steady snow north and west of metro washington. that will continue until about 2:30, 3:00 in the morning according to our timing here, and that should pretty much be the end of it with clearing skies early tomorrow morning following the snow. as far as how much, one of our computer models has the most snow with an inch and a half for washington, close to that in manassas, more to the north and west. our official stormwatch 7 weather team that is forecasting for our area here, about a dusting to one inch for the immediate metro area
