295 earlier crash at arundel mills circle now blocking the left lane and shoulder. traffic only gets by to the right lane. another accident reported southbound 97 at benfield boulevard. on the west side of the outer loop it will take you 13 minutes from 795 to 70. traffic is pretty much at a crawl there. 95 southbound, six minutes from whitemarsh boulevard to the beltway. 895 looking a little better, only eight minutes from the split as you approach 295. back to you. >> thank you. 6:33. this is the big day today. the day that people get to play the one-armed bandits in cecil county, on 95 by the big water tower in perryville. our first casino. linda so says we can start playing today. >> reporter: get ready. in about two and a half hours maryland's first slots casino will be open for business. the casino in perryville is actually opening a little earlier than expected. it was originally supposed to open its doors this thursday. but the casino got its license over the weekend after a

successful trial run on saturday. that paves the way for maryland's first casino to open since voters approved slots nearly two years ago. the four other locations still have big hurdles before opening. the casino at arundel mills is going back to the voters in november. operators at perryville say they are happy to be the first to open and to provide hundreds of local jobs in the state of the art facility. the 35,000-square foot slots parlor in cecil county has 1,500 slot machines, two restaurants, all set in the hollywood movie backdrop. again, the casino in perryville will open in about an hour and a half. 8:00 this morning. grand opening ceremonies are set for thursday. in the studio, linda so, abc2 news. i've been accused. i'm under attack. i want you to know, as i said earlier, i am not a perfect man, but this thing,

[ cheering and applause ] >> the pastor of a georgia megachurch addressed his congregation for the first time since he was accused of luring young men into sexual relationships. bishop eddie long spoke at two services on sunday. at the new birth missionary baptist church. he even had a very supportive crowd behind him. he vowed to fight the allegations but declined to talk about the specifics of the lawsuit filed against him. four men have sued long claiming that he lured them into sexual relationships with gifts and overseas trips when they were 17 and 18 years old. 6:35. how would you like to be on this delta flight heading to white plains from atlanta? had to make an emergency landing at jfk over the weekend and reports are that the landing gear failed to deploy to a passenger on board the plane captured video of the landing on a cell phone. can you hear -- you can't hear it but in the background you can hear -- there it is. a flight attendant yelling heads down, stay down!

british researchers. the study says the risk of a heart attack was reduced by 19%, for those vaccinated in the past year. alcohol abuse is the third leading cause of preventable death in our country. it contributes to countless diseases, car crashes, injuries and crimes. recently a published study says to solve this problem how about raise the alcohol tax? doubling the current state taxes on alcohol could be expected to reduce alcohol-relate the deaths. deadly car crashes and rates of std's. even a slight increase on drinking could have a large impact on public health if millions consume half a drink less per week on average the small differences in alcohol intake could lead to big drops in the jr. area's overall injury and death rates. grab your lucky horse shoe, lucky penny. >> a new casino opening up in about an hour. >> it's maryland's first slots casino. i'm linda so.

67 now in downtown baltimore. we've received almost a full inch of rain just in the last two hours. it's going to be a wet day. we've got more on the way and we'll have the complete forecast coming up. it's all about the wet commute. here's kim brown with the latest. >> it's messy out there early on. on route 97 southbound, only one lane gets by because of an accident blocking the left lane and shoulder here. northbound on the bw parkway left lane and shoulder continue to be blocked at arundel mills circle. west side of the beltway, traffic is going to be greatly -- the speed is reduced as you make your way around the outer loop at liberty road. we had an earlier accident on the inner loop top side at the jfx, cleared to the shoulder. earlier accidents on the 95 corridor at keith avenue and caton avenue have been cleared but expects to it be fairly slow so far. 6:47. atlantic city, vegas, perryville, a brand new casino ready to shine in cecil county. linda so with the first day of action.

comcast ceo steve burke has been named to succeed jeff zucker as head of nbc universal. he takes over comcast and completes the deal with ge which currently owns nbc. the company says burke will work with zucker during the transition. the 52-year-old burke first joined comcast in 1998 as president of comcast cable. he's been president of abc broadcasting, the president and chief operating officer of euro disney as well. and if you want to take steps to get healthier this week in baltimore, it's the time to do it. healthy city days kicks off a week from today. let's move to "extreme makeover: home edition." big news. christie norbert says the young girls from girls hope said june 9th was the best day of their lives. >> that is the day they were surprised by -- and the crews from "extreme makeover: home edition." they kicked off the season with a two-hour special on girls

hope in baltimore. it took nine days to finish the project and they worked through humidity, rain, even an earthquake. the girls now in their new home say it was all worth it. we're looking at a different situation here. we got a storm coming through now. the storm brought heavy rain earlier this morning. we're watching maryland's most powerful doppler radar with another band of rain coming up from the south, along 50 east and around the dc beltway. we're going to be watching that pivot through. in between the roads still wet. one of the most deceiving parts, when you think the rain stopped the roads still a problem with the spray kicking up. you can see bands of heavy rain that came through close to an inch around baltimore city, over an inch towards bowie, breaks up to the south, spotty showers that will definitely get fueled by some afternoon heat. where is that heat? it's actually south of the boundary, that is south of us. this is really what is going to

charge a lot of the energy today. also around this low pressure near atlanta, georgia, heavy rain and big storms pushing through georgia itself and the carolinas this morning. we're in the cool side of the pattern with an easterly wind but the rainy pattern stays with us all day through tonight and into tomorrow. we'll bring this back home where it appears as if we'll have another shot of maybe some thunderstorms and locally heavy downpours this afternoon. computer models indicating that we could see a generalized three inches of rain from this entire storm system. this is just storm one this week. we get it through this afternoon. heavy rain with that main front and the storm itself. back to our west overnight. that tries to swing through by daybreak. we could have another rough commute tomorrow morning. then we'll try to get it out in the afternoon and get dry air in here by wednesday. another storm tries to charge up from the caribbean of all places, off the coast, thursday and friday. a split between a coastal hugger which means we barely get clipped or we get pounded with heavy rain as we head through thursday and friday. that is the split now. today, almost a guarantee.
