holiday. sharee williams has the full story tonight from ac. revel was thought by some to be the future of atlantic city. but that turned out to be a bad bet. as fascinating and eye catching as blue glass tower may be it's also bankrupt. >> i'm laid off. that's all right. one door closes and another opens up. mr. hart is working his last shift at the revel hotel and casino closing down only after two years in business. vacationers looked on in disbelief as the name nature was removed from the building. it's hitting home for those from atlantic city and hart is one of the 3,000 revel employees now out of a job. >> i used to run the boardwalk with my grandmother before it was built. >> revel faced a financial cat osfy before the doors opened. while in construction owners needed an additional $1 billion to finish out the massive

project. built to be a luxury resort, it didn't target the over day atlantic city gambler according to experts and there's no buffet, no players club and no transportation to bus gameers in. >> it's kind of huge for city also and like you want people to come to the casino. even the signs it's like hard to get to the casino. >> yes, sir ka rossy is here for the blowout pool party and say good-bye. >> go out with a bang and hopefully someone will buy it to come back here again. >> we have lives here at stake. >> cynthia represents a group of chinese investors who made a bid this weekend for the bankrupt casino. >> the offer was made and rejected. it we keep the boorz open all of the slot games can stay in position. and once the doors close, everything has to be returned. >> so there is hope that this massive property at some point will be sold and be in the hands of a new owner.

in the meantime, the hotel portion already closed and that happened 11 a.m. and the casino floor is set to close at 5 a.m. in atlantic city, sharee william. "channel 6 action news." >> ref sell second casino to close in as many days. showboat resort and casino shut down operations yesterday after 27 years in business. showboat closed doors for good 4:00 yesterday afternoon. employees peeked through the doors for a last look and snapped pictures with friends they made on the job. showboat employed over 2,000 workers. >> a resource center to help laid off casino workers will open wednesday at atlantic city convenience center, local 54 partnered with new jersey department of labor and otherer agencies to form ac units here. workers will be able to learn how to get assistance with food

and utilities and insurance. ac units here opens september 3 at 9:00. >> labor day marks unofficial end of summer of course. but don't tell that to the folks that crowded the jersey shore today. the boardwalk in ocean city was busy with walkers, psych list, and families riding spt uris. anda sea isle city people flocked to the beach. 2014 was filled with memory and other says not over yet. >> riding bikes on promenade and playing in the ocean, playing in the sand, listening to music on the boardwalk and eating italian ice. >> it's always too short. >> it's never long enough. >> we deep going as long as we can. >> this summer we stretch into october. we're lucky. >> well the unofficial end of summer not only bringing heat and humidity our way but wet weather as well. meteorologist cecily tynan

tracking possible storms tonight and tomorrow. she's outside with the latest from accuweather. hey, ces. >> rick, we have isolated storms out there tonight. really the big impact with weather is heat and humidity. the labor day weekend started on cool side. saturday's high in low 80s. 8 1 degrees. low humidity. yesterday we shot up to 93. 17th time temperatures in the 90s. the normal high is 83 degrees. but it felt warmer when you factor in the humidity. currently in philadelphia, 88. wilmington 84. allentown 87. dover 83. cooler along the beachs with that seabreeze kicking up. sea isle city and boardwalk 78 degrees. dew points have not had dew points this high most of the summer. very humid. it's 71 degrees in philadelphia. dew point 76 in dover. that's tropical. you add that with temperature,

>> in other news medics rushed a 56-year-old woman to the hospital today after a serious accident in north philadelphia. the crash happened 2:30 this afternoon intersection of allegheny and glenwood avenue. authorities say the victim's car over turned after colliding with another car and struck a utility pole. the victim is said to be in stable condition at temple university hospital. >> traditional labor day parade kicked off along columbus this morning and celebration of festivecys was a celebration. that story tonight. >> reporter: ang and file union members and families on the march on this annual day of union pride. conceived to celebrate all that has been accomplished in battle for higher wages, better work conditions and benefits for working men and women. a constant ongoing struggle labor leader emphasize to avoid marching backwards. >> i worry about the future to

>> and william rodriguez of tom's river is charged with making ter risetic threats in ongoing dispute tonight. they arrested him this morning. he vandalized a home on brenton harbor drive after midnight and then returned with a knife, short time later to fight the homeowner. officers say they ordered rodriguez to drop the knife three times before he finally complied and he also paces criminal mischief and weapons charges and he's held on bail 30,000 bail. crews spent the day cleaning the area around the philadelphia museum bar after another successful music festival. streets department got work along the ben franklin parkway the minute the last note was completed. this was the third year jay-z two day labor day weekend concert and this year featured simultaneous performances in loss ankle less. it was a big success des spits a one hour rain delay last night.

let's go live sky6 taking a look at the scene boardwalk in atlantic city, it's cloudy. sky6 shaking with the seabreeze. a lot of folks on the boardwalk enjoying the last night of the summer season. but it's still summer and it will feel like it most of the week. currently in philadelphia, 88 degrees. wilmington 84. allentown 87. seabreeze temperatures on the beaches in upper 70s. you factor in the dew point, dew points are tropical. we have dewpoint of 71 degrees in philadelphia. wilmington and dover, due minutes mid 70s. we have not felt this kind of humidity for most of the summer. so it's pretty oppressive up there and tomorrow it's going to be even hotter and more humid. satellite 6 along with action radar showing downpours and storms. >> and look out to the west. and future tracker showing
