center. >> reporter: right now the judge is deciding on bail, oscar pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide similar to manslaughter that carries up to 15 years behind bars. the question is will he remain free on bail now that he has been convicted of two crimes. you can see him arriving at the courthouse crowds of people outside as the olympic and para olympic track star went inside. 27-year-old oscar pistorius was found guilty of one weapons charge and acquitted of two more. today he was convicted of culpable homicide the south african term for unintentionally and unlawfully killing a person. prosecutors failed to approve he intended to kill reeva steenkamp last year on valentine's day. >> the screens of events,

namely the shots, the screams, the shouts of help, the sound of the cricket bat striking the toilet door, the calls made by various witnesses to security to report screams and shots are more in line with the version of the accused. >> reporter: steenkamp a model had only been dating pistorius a few months. pistorius thought she was an intruder. the prosecution argued that he intentionological akill her after an argument. there will be a separate sentencing hearing likely in a couple of weeks. bail is automatically suspended upon conviction, pistorius was escorted down the cell by police, while the judge continues to deliberate whether or not he'll remain free on bail. court will be back in session

about a half-hour from now and we'll hear the judge's decision then. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> homicide detectives have made an arrest in the shooting death of a woman in the queen village neighborhood. the victim's boyfriend marcus johnson is charged with her murder. police believe he shot eugene in the face and arm on monday night. when police arrived at her home they say she was bleeding from the face. eugene was rushed to the hospital and died the next day. new on "action news," police in berks county made a potentially deadly discovery during a dui arrest. police say they found a man passed out in his car boildz three makeshift bombs. -- besides three makeshift bottoms. he was parked outside a sheetz store, a concerned citizen

have a downside tree causing a closure. tick with aquatung road. we have right lane blocked coming into center city. this is causing problems every morning. >> breaking right now, oscar pistorius has been convicted of a lessor homicide charge. it happened as we monitored a second morning of verdict reading in the south african courtroom. katherine scott is following these developments from the satellite center. >> reporter: that's right, matt, oscar pistorius has been convicted of culpable homicide comparable to manslaughter and carries up to 15 years in jail. the question is will he remain free on bail. court will be called back into session around now, we could have the answer to that very soon.

this morning you could see the crowds outside the courthouse in south africa as oscar pistorius was going inside this morning. proceedings got underway shortly after 9:30 local time. the 27-year-old olympic and para olympic star was found guilty of one weapons charge and acquitted of two more. as is for the death of his girlfriend reeva steenkamp, the judge said prosecutors failed to approve that pistorius intended to kill her. but today he was convicted of culpable homicide the south african term for unintentionally and unlawfully killing someone. reeva steenkamp, a model had only been dating pistorius a few months of months. he testified that he thought she was an intruder when he shot through the bathroom door.

pistorius would have faced 25 careers for a premeditated murder. there will be a separate sentencing hearing at a later date. likely it will be weeks until that happens. the question is whether he will be allowed to remain free on bail. court is being called back into session we are monitoring those proceedings and we'll let you know what the judge decides. >> a drawn out process. thank you, katherine. breaking overnight, a 6 hour manhunt for an escaped shooter in a school ended in ohio. officials in lima ordered a lockdown when t.j. lane and two others inmates scaled a perimeter fence. two of the escapees did not get very far, police found lane outside a church. he returned to prison without putting up a fight. the third inmate was captured a short time later.

david saint ogne junior is accused of lying to the police. his father is accused of murdering his 88-year-old father by hitting him in the head. david senior got him to help dispose of the body in susquehanna county. police are looking at the newly released video of a park ranger attack in love park. it shows aaron williams the park ranger putting up his fists and trading punches can curtis tanner. williams testified that he did nothing to provoke the skate boarder's violent attack on him. d.a. seth williams wants to get down to the real story. >> our job is to do do justice. it is under investigation and we'll let the chips fall where they may.
