history. the old. the oldest 67. they were at the route 91 harvest festival sunday night to celebrate birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and the shared love of music. stephen paddock turned that happy event into a nightmare. seconds after those first shots rang out, people were running for their lives, trying to find a safe spot. a las vegas fire truck happened to be driving by the concert site when it happened. firefighters jumped into action. we told you the shooting went on for ten minutes straight. all that time, first responders dodged bullets to help the injured. this morning, investigators are looking into the possibility that shooter stephen paddock had mental health issues. his girlfriend, marilou danley said he would lie in bed moaning and screaming saying the words

investigators don't believe h o attack. we're also learning about other possible targets he may have considered. he researched other venues. including boston's fenway park and went as far to book rooms in chicago overlooking grant park during lal palooza but never checked in. one of the victim's of sunday's shooting had ties to our area. denise burditus died. a community came together to honor her life. jake bens jackie bensen has more. they gathered at the high school where they met and fell in love over three decades ago. juanita burditus said she

4:11 is your time now. a caretaker screamed and cried as she was taken away by sheriff's officials in court. it came after a judge sentenced the woman to one year in prison for abusing an elderly woman. that abuse was caught on camera. but we want to warn you that it is very tough to watch. you can only see roxanne beau can strike her. moments later, she hits the 95-year-old over the head.

we want to get to the breaking news about the fire we just told you about. megan mcgrath is there. what can you tell us? >> reporter: we have a very large fire department presence here. if you look behind me, you can see all of the trucks and the people who are in the area wrapping up. this is on fox hall road. if you look in the upper window here on the left-hand side in the roof area, you can see a firefighter hosing down some of the hotspots inside here. fox hall road closed in both directions. that's going to be the case for a while here. apparently, this broke out, they believe, in the basement of this home. there's actually an in-home dental office in the basement

middle schdroo is of kids, as y can see there, they promised me that they would be kind. many of them were very emotional. it's so easy to be kind and has a lasting impression on the people around us. that was the take away. unfortunately, there are constantly new platforms for cyber bullying to know about. the latest app is called sara ha. it's marketed as a way for co-workers and friends to give self-developed feedback. it's meant for adults. as liz mclaughlin, the app is taking off with the most vulnerable, our teenagers. >> messages posts and likes, kids have a lot of ways to stay connected. one of the latest is saah rah ha. it targets adults but gaining popularity with teens. made as a way to get

friends, the app allows users to send anonymous messages. >> that leaves room for a lots and lots of problems because anonymity is a license to be mean. >> but cyber bullying can occur on any social media site. 70% of kids ages 12 to 17 say they've seen it happen. >> we see this cruelty online. we have to step up and step in and say hey, this isn't right. >> sous chef says bystanders can make a difference. instead of ignoring cyber bullying, there are options for reporting abuse even reporting or blocking users. some students are count erg with a trend of cyber encouragement. >> we have to instill kindness with our own key strokes. >> to spread positive comments about their peers. >> parents also play a role

outer looch the bep of the belt. two lanes getting by this paving project. all clear in a half an hour. out in bowie west. that paving project also two left lanes getting by. aaron, molette, back to you. >> thank you, jack. 4:29. the breaking news this morning. the scene of an overnight house fire could affect your commute. >> megan mcgrath is live on the scene in northwest d.c. megan? >> reporter: well, yeah. this is going to be a problem for people who take fox hall road to go downtown from upper northwest. take a look behind me. you can see why. we had an overnight fire a little after 3:00 in the morning. a fire broke out in the basement of a home in fox hall. we're in the 1600 block. the fire broke out in the basement where there's a dental office. it then spread to the first and second floors. quite a response here from the fire department. the fire is now out. but they still have a lot to do here
