driving drama a. plus terrifying moments, a school bus flipped over in the middle of a road. fox5 a news at 10 starts right now. and we begin the 10 with theh t snowfall a that will carrie on through the overnight. good evening, i'm tony perkinsks and i'm shawn yancy. we have team coverage tonight. we're going to let you knoww exactly how long the snow willil last and which region it will effect the most.st. we've been getting some amazing pictures of in really butt tellful fluffy snow all to the o north and west, though. places like frederick, wakersville. main roads you can see looking very good, rate job, treating. but there is accumulation on the grassy areas and some of thef sidewalks out there. lots of other pictures coming in that i've been sharing on twitter, but let me show youow where the winter weather advisory was very well placed because these are the areas that we've been seeing the snow in and espeal

area through the pan handle int fred ridge we had a heavy band out there a little whiling a and that put down maybe an inch, tw, inches of snow.ow. we're waiting to see if we get any snow in d.c. let me show you as we put radar in motion. what you'll see there is that darker purple color. that was the heavier band that i showed you from winchester upchs through frederick county. that put down a pretty good accumulation. to see much snow heree in d.c. or even in much of montgomery. but we think there's a chance aa little bit later. right now we still have the snow hole over d.c. as i put a bigger picture inictu motion as we look out west virginia we have a little bit more to come.ome. that may put down the dusting for the district a little bit later.la the winter weather advisory goes until 5 in the morning. we'll be keeping an eye on the northern and western suburbs.ubr maybe

we still think there's a chances that we're going to get thehe dusting close to d.c. a little bit. gary mcgrady is standing by outside. we're waiting for flakes. >> there's no snow here. just done wisconsin, the streets crews are staging down there and waiting. they're probably wondering where is the snow, where is the snow?e they're going to have to wait a little longer because sue just showed the radar picture from mount west of us. now that we had to make a big turn there, i want to show you in terms of what we're thinkingn still the temperature in d.c. has gone up a little bit. we're 36 now. in the last hour we were still down in the mid 30s. we're going up here in d.c., but just about everybody else is down close to freezing. we have another round of snowf coming. it's going to swing across.acro most of the accumulation in the me

4:00 a.m. before it shuts off.f. we're still expecting at least a dusting and then the places north and west i think stand the best chance of maybe getting as much as two inches.nche you'll see more pictures comingi out of frederick in a couple of minutes. we're going to go to lauren demarco in a second. we've made a couple adjustments on the snow cast just a few minutes go. we basically moved that up youup to two inches. we moved it a little bit farther north. taking it out of howard county, loudon county.ount all the dusting, we just left it in place because i think this is a really good chance before thio is all said and done it won'tit take a lot of snow to get theget dusting on the ground. way out to the west, higher elevations and then back out into west virginia they'rey're talking two, three, four, up to five inches out there. of course nothing that we have to worry about here. the question is with will we get a dusting and then we will bewil able to deal with it before ther morning commute and before theyo make the decisions about 5:00 a.m. usually for any delays.

crews have been deployed and preparing for this since yesterday. ddot pretreated with the brian and beat juice mix on the d.c..c roads to prevent ice from forming. they have 220 plows, salt trucks and other pieces equipment reedi to go. earlier tonight we a talked to vdot to check on the preparations in northern virginia. rush hour in the morning is our biggest concern. again, we're out, 1100 pieces of equipment we'll have the roads in great condition. when we go out and do our brian prescription that will stay on the road for five days as long as it doesn't rain.sn't it works. this is the eighth year thatr we've used brine and it's provee that it's worth it. we're just driving around thehe downtown area and the maller roads here.e. we've seen a lot of

corner's tonight to explain. break it down for us. do >>reporter: you know what the funny thing is there's not even a single flurry. n right now $2, less than 1.85.. you probably won't need to jump on it now. take a look at this, $30 when you most needed it at the height of rush hour, 4 and 5:00.5:00 that was southbound on 4935 headed to i95. to say it shocked some driversir probably an under stated. this was all a calculated measure by transurban.ran they tell fox5 that between 4:30 and 5:10 this evening there were two salt trucks on the express lanes of i95 and 495 so they wanted to increase tolls in order to deter drivers from jumping on the expressway. robbery, shocked, why in i need answers. >> it's

and that was gwyneth ton who says her jonathan john hadhn dreams of becoming an engineer. in the mean type he was was attending community college andm work atun a nearby hotel. last tuesday a little after four a.m. when swinton was walking home after hanging out with his friends.fr 55 year old brian ester was driving a box truck northbound on route 1 just north of 100 when he hit sweat ton. sweat ton was walk in the red at the time. this is the second time he has struck a pedestrian killing him. again, the first incident happened back in september. a young woman was killed in that incident.in again, i just want you to take e look at this stretch of roadway here. it is very busy and what i can tell you is that when fox5 local news spoke about this case with police, they reiterated to us that when a pedestrian is not walking in the crosswalk theywb- are breaking the

out to our north and west here, looking at wakersville, this iss up near frederick, a the look of reports, out toward the pan handle of west virginia, upni towards hagerstown, frost bug we've had about an inch, two inches, exactly what we expected. it looks like roads were great so queue dose on to the road crews. they're making sure that you're going to be safe on the road. great picture on twitter. they've got about two inches in charleston, west virginia already. it is still snowing.l i don't think you'll get a whole lot more, but this is what we're talking about, snow every where except for right through d.c., montgomery county, loudon county. parts of loudon have had an inch as well.as this was expected to be fairly minor but we've had this little l slot. there is still a little bit mora out to the west and there's some good bands in there.ther that could
