warning lifted. the evening commute home was either an easy one or tough, depending on whether your car was waiting for you or not. >> now what do you have to do? >> i think go to the police station and give them money and pick up my car. >> you think? >> i think. >> her neighbor came to pick her up. she will deal with it tomorrow, not to rub salt in the wound. >> you should sign up for the alerts available and then you'll know and your car wouldn't be at the police station like that lady just told us. >> not to make light of anything, but you can see the sign. people are used to this stuff. we did check in with the public information guide for the city of laurel and he told us that she's not going to have to worry they weren't handing out tickets in this lot. the only thing you'd have to pay but what you should do is actually go to 350th nicipal square to get her car tomorrow. no doubt there will be other people alongside with her. live in laurel, wusa9, back to

11:05 pm
path and so i basically focused on the space between the two parked cars and him and that car took off really fast. >> a week ago tuesday, 13th and varnum northeast armed robber, ski mask, woman loses her purse, can't give much of a description. >> then on january 10 a man was robbed here at the 5900 block of fifth street northwest by an armed robber, his face covered with a ski mask. the man wasn't hurt but he lost his watch and was unable to give much of a description. >> wheeler says it's worth talking about asking retailers not to sell the mask but had a more practical request. >> more police patrol officers, bike patrol officers, and more unmarked cars and more plain clothes policemen. >> a d.c. police spokeswoman would not provide anyone for an on camera interview but said there are police patrols city wide. wusa9. new at 11, a search for

hi, kristin. >> reporter: yeah, guys, here the command control for media is the convention center. it's not just home of the nfl experience but the media center is home to hundreds of radio stations from around the world that are here broadcasting live and it's there tonight that we find our interview. >> this is central command, aka, the media center, home of what's called radio row. >> i look that we both look outstanding in our red. >> yes. >> that's the way i look at it. >> couldn't help but get their thoughts on sundays big game. >> it seems to get on a role, have something special going on and i look at baltimore and i said wait a minute, you go to denver and beat peyton manning in denver and then to new england and beat tom brady in new england. those teams have a look at it being their year or playoffs and baltimore has that look to me. >> i think joe flaco, the way
11:09 pm
he's been playing is a huge part of it and if he has pass protection he will be able to take advantage of the secondary. >> now before the niners and ravens, the nfl hands out awards for the best players on saturday night. we wanted the experts picks. >> all three of those guys you could select them, love being the number one pick living up to it and come in and do it for 11 games, rg3 what he did, you can't take away, it ended on a downer and little russell, i mean, phenomenal, you know? no one has it. they can give it either. >> you can see the award show saturday night on wusa preceded by a live version of game on from here in new orleans. for now live kristin bursett, back to you guys in the studio. we've got much more from new orleans including beyonce belting out the national anthem

11:12 pm
why would a restaurant manager run out of his own shop and into another with us on his tail? >> yeah, why would he? well you can bet it had something to do with a bad health department inspection and an order to close his doors. >> reporter: tonight you'll watch one restaurant manager run away from us while another goes out of his way to show what he's doing now to keep his customers safe. in bethesda, the manager of hamden cafe has invested in thermometers. >> right now, it looks like it's right at 40. >> and now that meets code, but inspectors reported it was five degrees too warm when they closed the restaurant down and the hot water wasn't warm enough measuring at 61 degrees. he showed us he's changed with hot hot water and turkey breasts at a safe holding
11:13 pm
company. in the shaw neighborhood, inside the catering on v street northwest inspectors cited the washington institution for vermon. >> inside, the walls are covered with the pictures of dc icons. we asked if we could see inside the kitchen. they said no. >> in speck ors reported a contamination control violation and mice droppings in the kitchen. inside this subway on 18th street northwest they ordered us out but not before our thermometer measured the bathroom hot water at 100 degrees, 10 degrees less than what inspectors require and workers told us no food safety manager on duty. we talked to the manager by phone and he said he was coming over. inspectors had just ordered the restaurant closed citing no hot water, no food safety manager, plus meat balls at temperatures that could make you sick. about 10 minutes later, a voice from the door demanded i leave.
11:14 pm
>> who are you? >> i'm the manager. >> oh, you're the guy who asked me to wait for you. actually we found some problems you'll want to know about. >> he speed walked into a neighboring business. >> so the thermometer of your water is 100 degrees. you know it's required to be 110 degrees? do you understand experts say that creates a health risk? >> so obviously we didn't get much of an explanation here. the health department confirmed in an e-mail just now for safe food handling they require a minimum of 110 degrees. this isn't the only subway we found with a problem. inspectors ordered closed this subway for operating with no running water during a water main break, and when we arrived, workers said here too, there was no food safety manager on duty.
11:15 pm
>> no. >> all those restaurants are past reinspection and reopened prior to what we found and with that thermometer in the hot water measurements can vary depending upon the thermometer and operator. we've asked subway and the health department to double check. wusa9. >> subway did contact us tonight. they said they and the health department did double check and there are no violations there now, but a subway spokesman says if citations are made on follow-up visits steps are being taken to strip certain franchisees of their restaurants. forget about the football players today in new orleans it was all about beyonce. the super star of the super bowls half time show held a press conference today and for the first time addressed why she lip synced during the presidential innauguration. she did a lot more than answer questions. how are you? >> reporter: i'm great. she silenced her critics before ever answering a single
11:16 pm
question. she knew that all anybody wanted to talk about what was happened at the innauguration so in a brilliant move, beyonce just walked out, asked everybody in the audience to stand up and then, well, she just proved why she's a super star. >> a flawless performance of the star spangled banner and when she finished she miled and said-- >> any questions? >> well that put an end to any questions about whether or not she could sing it so what did happen on innauguration day? >> due to the weather, due to the delays, due to no proper sound check, i did not feel comfortable taking a risk. >> but there will we no risk during half time at the super bowl. she's been preparing since october and she's still nervous. >> thousands of reporters and protographers were packed into
11:17 pm
this press conference. the weiderest question? what color is your toothbrush? >> blue and white i think? blue and yellow maybe? >> but the most pressing question? will she sing like this live at the big game? >> i will absolutely be singing live. i'm well rehearsed, [laughter] and i will absolutely be singing live. this is what i was born to do. >> yeah, so in case you had any doubts, the girl can sing. now, the one thing she would not talk about was who might be joining her on stage during the half time show, maybe her husband jay z, maybe the rest of the girls, destiny's child,
11:18 pm
she wouldn't speculate. she just said we'll all have to wait and see but anita, at least now we can all know that beyonce uses a white and blue or white and yellow toothbrush, right? it's important information we all need to know. >> critical. critical. but we really want to see what she does in this half time show. kristin thank you so much. and you can see it all this sunday on wusa9 at 6:30 it is the super bowl. >> you know, i'd be happy if it just came out and that outfit and did that single lady thing. she could do that and walk off. i would be good. >> i with have no problem with that. >> [laughter] we have a little nuisance snow, heaven forbid we have real snow this winter but a put a blog out there. we only had nine tenths of an inch of snow in january, happened 26 times in 125 years, check it out. sometimes rebound is good everywhere. let's start with a live look outside. it's our weather cam. high temperature 66 today, that's right. it was midnight. right now low so far 34 and dew points 11 so it's a dry air
11:19 pm
mass, whatever falls tomorrow is going to stick rather quickly and it's going to be a very dry snow, all the little tiny snows we've had have been very fluffy and dry. okay, there's the snow. taking up a good chunk of kentucky pushing into west virginia and southern ohio and again a very fast moving system kind of an upper air system all about spin and lift with this. it can't tap the gulf of mexico. it can't tap the atlantic ocean so consequently, it's going to race in here very quickly, snow is on the doorstep, should be on our doorstep by about 5:00 a.m. so early light snow, 5:00 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. and then it's gone. up to an inch is possible. light snow during the commute so any time snow is falling during the commute that's not good and with accumulation that's not good. so we gave it a one on the impact meter. wind chills watch out in the teens most of the day, temperatures aren't going to go up anymore because behind this system it reinforces our cold air so here we are at 7:30. there the snow up and down i-
11:20 pm
95. we'll advance this and it's gone. it's across the bay by 9:30, sunshine returns and it will snow most of the day out west of the divide and in fact good news, great weekend for skiing this weekend and more snow coming on saturday. so how much snow? maybe half an inch here, maybe quarter inch to four tenths of an inch south of town. we are really splitting hairs here so essentially an inch or less across the entire metro area. temperatures overnight in the 40s increasing cloudiness and cold, light snow possible by dawn, temperatures again right around upper 20s and notice they don't go anywhere, 27-33 by morning and winds start to pick up too but looking for an inchr less, so the next three days, the weather alert we're yellow tomorrow. light snow certainly no doubt about that. late snow on saturday again with another system and then morning snow showers on sunday, for super bowl sunday, you'll be able to get to your parties
11:21 pm
no worries there. cold on monday, maybe a snow shower on tuesday, wednesday and thursday, milder we are back in the 40s and right now the forecast looks pretty good for the game and temperatures in the 60s. kristen back to you. well today is the final day we get to hear from the players until after the game, but tomorrow is a press conference everybody has been looking forward to a joint press conference. we'll have a preview plus get predictions of the big game coming up

welcome back. we're live outside the superdome in new orleans. both the 49ers and ravens had to practice in the same facility today so they had to play a little keep away. now the ravens they've been playing at tulane university all week while the 49ers have been at the saints facility but the ravens moved after their morning practice to the same place the 49ers were. they had to put up black paper over the weight room and a makeshift curtain so the teams couldn't see each other. we won't hear from the players
11:25 pm
anymore until after the big game but the coaches had a nice preview of their joint press conference tomorrow morning. >> we thought we would switch uniforms and i'd come dressed as jim and jim would come dressed as me. see if you could figure it out. >> extremely well coached team and that's documented really just the heart of the team. i think two things that worries the most is the talented team that plays with a lot of heart. >> we'll have that press conference recap for you tomorrow. well this afternoon we navigated radio row at the convention center where all of the big name athletes and celebrities go for their interviews. we ran into two guys, a blast from the past, for area football teams and asked them to weigh in on the game. >> obviously, when you win achampionship with the team and ray especially, a guy that i owe a lot to. >> corey smith gives the threat and i think he's got trust now
11:26 pm
and pito, because in critical situations, those are the guys he goes to. >> the washington capitols in action tonight as well visiting toronto. well maple leafs looking for their first home win, putting the caps up 2-1 early in the second period but the maple leafs battle back beating the caps 3-2. >> in the hardwood george mason taking on drexel, mason had a 20 point lead but couldn't hold on. came yen lee hits a three pointer to make it 57-54, mason has now lost back to back conference games, tough blow for them. that will do it from here in new orle
