Some of these shows are still available for sale in DVD format, so how would it be legal to post them here for free?

Certain episodes of TV classics like Bonanza, The Lucy Show, Beverly Hillbillies, Dick Van Dyke, Jack Benny, One Step Beyond, Lights Out, etc are in the public domain because their producers failed to have them copyrighted before, like, 1970. Also, a lot of the older shows from the late 40's & early 50's were on the now-defunct DuMont Network. I think that's why they've been made available. The only kind of post-1970 shows on here are those that were canceled quickly and no one cared about, like the Bob Denver show. Most TV programs are still under copyright, especially ones produced after the 1960's. Even if a modern show only lasted a few episodes, it's probably still under copyright also, such as Canterbury Law, which ran on Fox for about a month a few years ago. I have seen this on the Mill Creek site, but that doesn't mean it's PD like the shows above and the old Milton Berle and Johnny Carson half-hours from the 50's sold via MC.
Do not upload anything until you can prove it is in the public domain.
