heavy downpours of a tropical nature expected all day long today. this is up and down the eastern seaboard. nicole started it all over florida at yesterday. it has combined with the stationary front. let's look at the weather computer. we have in excess of 5 inches of rain forecast for today. possible severe thunderstorms later today and tonight. we have a change in the wind direction. temperaturesto see holding in the 70's. you see the swarming areas and coastal flood advisors as well as wind advisories. up to 40 will gust miles per hour.

we want to remind you to go to our website for more. >> we anticipate this would be the case. we have several accidents of notes. this is the most serious. en 29 and 70 betwe 70e the patapsco river. the lanes are not expected to open until 8:00 a.m. all traffic being forced off on southbound 29. outer loop approaching greenspring, an accident there. southbound 83, that accident is still in the process of being cleared. southbound 95 past white marsh boulevard, an accident there. in the southbound direction at havre de grace, we have another accident. it is a busy morning.

flooding will be a major issue. let's give you a live view of traffic. nothing getting by in the eastbound direction. we will keep you posted. heavy delays in the eastbound direction. westbound 50 at the severn river bridge. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> it is a nasty outside. heavy rain and wind it expected to continue all day long. >> jennifer franciotti joins us live from fells point with the latest. we can hear the rain. >> i think god was on cue there. the rain got even heavier, which is ironic. just within the last 15 minutes. this is not the worst. the worst is yet to come. we are about ready to see a city

crew come by. they are monitoring the situation in fells point. this is one area that is prone to flooding. on wednesday, this storm was being tracked. work crews in baltimore city yed to clear the storm drains. annapolis is well aware of the flood prone zone. they started sandbagging downtown. b.g.e. took a proactive approach to the storm. they have extra crews on standby in anticipation of power outages. >> the concern is the high wind. that can bring down the trees. with be heavy canopy today, we have some ground that is soaked

we have other locations this morning. let's see what is going on. 70 at 29. traffic is moving westbound. eastbound, nothing is getting by. let's give you a live view as we switch over to 50. there is an accident in the westbound direction and that is off to the side. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. now let's get the latest on the buses and the trains. >> we are going to see some delays on the buses because of the wet roads. we are looking pretty good. we do have some diversions. the 55 bus is diverting because of construction. there is also a diversion at pratt street and light streets. no delays on penn, camden, and brunswick lines so far.

now back to sandra shaw. >> we have tropical downpours developing. we will see this all day long and lingering into tomorrow morning. it is the duration that will cause some flooding problems. you cannot see heavy rains. we have had tornado warnings for st. mary's and calvert counties. this is like a tropical storm that extends from south florida and combining with a stationary front and an area of low pressure. it will move up into new york state. we have more than 5 inches of rain expected. we could see some heavier amounts locally. we are on the top of the scale.

we have a flash flood warnings to the south of baltimore. ooling on thepu roads already. a tornado watch. there will be some gusty winds associated with this thing. the wind is changing direction. that means a tornado watch for the entire viewing area until 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. we have wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour. this is a hybrid storm. the tropical storm dissipated. all of that moisture combined with this period of low pressure and a stalled out front. it will be a slow-mover as it treks up the 95 corridor.

we were in a drought situation just a few days ago. some thunderstorms could be civil war. 72 to 75. -- some thunderstorms could be severe. we assume on in. more of these heavy batches of rain, even into 10:00 p.m. tonight. even in 2:09 a.m. tomorrow morning. this model still has us in the heavy downpour -- even into 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. the wind will dry out tomorrow. it will be a much cooler weekend. we will see a cool canadian air mass. high on sunday is only 59 degrees.

investigative committee. they are investigating investing more than $100 million to improve their manufacturing. they plan to begin shipping 1 million bottles of children's medicine in october after recalling them in april. they make 40 drugs in pennsylvania. it looks like stocks opened lower this morning. there were concerns about europe's debt crisis. there are some strikes there. banks and retailers are weighing on things. many are shacking up together. more families are taking in grandparents or letting friends live in their basement. that means people who are not related group from 2005 to 2009.

creating some flooding. officials are on high alert. >> the flooding is expected to last all day long. jennifer franciotti -- poor jen, she is in the middle of it. >> you need to be smarter than a tv reporter and dress for the weather. i'm not wearing storm weather apparel. it is coming down very heavy in fells point. we are seeing pooling in the roads. officials are concerned because .he ground is already solaked is concerned about toppled trees. emergency managers tracked the swath of great creeping to

baltimore on the radar. the city deployed cruise to clear clogged storm drains. >> trash gets in there and traps that. all the water runs off to the local streams. >> the five teams cannot check all of the storm drains. officials are urging residents to pay jan. >> we're asking every citizen to take a look on their street to see if there storm drains are clear. sweep any trash that is on top. use a broom and a trash can. >> the city of annapolis is well aware of their flood-prone zones. b.g.e. took a proactive approach to the storm. the company has extra crews on standby. >> the concern is the high wind. it can bring down trees and

buses. the five, 10, 13, and 33 buses are all running late. there is a delay. marc trains, runs the trains are on time. now back to sandra shaw. >> it is a dangerous mourning with heavy tropical downpours. it began after midnight last night. this line of red extends beyond rock hall. i will give you a better view. around towson, we cannot see some yellow. that is also intense rain. had some radar-indicated tornadoes. the tropical moisture is moving up the eastern seaboard. the remnants are now near fort lauderdale.

there is another area of low pressure. they combined for a hybrid system. we'll see heavy downpours all day long today. how much rain? in excess of 4 inches of rain. i will say in excess of 6 inches by the end of this thing, which will not be until late tomorrow morning. the duration of this event will cause -- it will have a lot to do with the flooding impact. we are seeing a flash flooding around the district. there is a coastal flood advisory with high tides expected to be one to 2 feet above normal. there is a change in the direction of the wind. a tornado watch is in effect for our entire area until 1:00 p.m.

this afternoon. we're dealing with an awful weather day. this will move on up through virginia and continue up to new york the state. it is like a tropical hose that is pouring in more moisture. heavy rain on and off today with gusty winds. no relief tonight. we could see thunderstorms tonight, maybe some lightning. 57 to 61 degrees. heavy rain continues tonight in a strong pockets of red. it continues into tomorrow morning. one more final burst of energy as light as 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. you finally see clearing by friday night. we will clear to mark after some showers and storms in the
