but we're watching parts of the sacramento and san joaquin valley. there may be a risk of tornadoes today. we don't see this very often. because of the weather setup we have, we will have the potential of the stronger thunderstorms firing up in between the times that we see the sunshine that gives it more energy to the thunderstorms that we have developing over some parts of the central valley. that mixture is what you typically see sometimes in the midwest. that's the reason why we have the potential of that tornado outbreak for today. the our tornado records go back to 1950. on average, we get 10 or 11 per year. the most recent one was two ef-1 tornadoes that happened. that was not too long ago. that was on february 8th. the bay area strongest tornado was in sunnyvale, an f-2, that happened in 1998. really concerning to see that threat so close to the bay area. we'll be watching out for that today. as we take a look at our hour-by-hour outlook, it shows we'll see times of scattered showers, potentially thunderstorms here and there. and the thunders
